Ora_ffi in webforms

I have just one procedure which is based on ora_ffi functions and these aren't supported on webforms.
I have no idea how or even whether this procedure can be rewritten without using ora_ffi, but if it can I guess java might be involved. Can anyone give me any idea how to solve this sort of problem?
Thanks for any pointers.

ORA_FFI will work on the Web, but it will be executed on the application server.
So if your application server is the same OS as your current clients you might be able to put your foreign function on the application server and your code might still work.

  • Issues with WebForm performance

    Hi,
    We had migrated a new application from UAT to PROD and we encounter webform performance issues with the following actions..
    After login, the first form you open it is
    always slow. After this you can switch from one form to another without a
    delay.
    Then once you change any data – the next time
    you access a form it gets delayed.
    The point to be noted is, it doesnt have any performance issues in the UAT environment and the configuration settings,essbase cache settings are all the same. We did try to move the EPM system to a new server to see if this is a hardware issue but no luck, the performance issues still exist. The consumption of the CPU/memory has been checked and it is proved that the form opening delay has nothing to do with lack of memory.
    The JVM head settings is set up at 4GB which is infact higher than that of the UAT environment(2GB).
    runs on Windows server2008,11.1.2.1.600 EPM serve, has planning,reporting,foundation on one server (32GB ram) and essbase on another server (32GB ram). Any help is appreciated.
    Please find attached the planning logs below and there is nothing mentioned in the hyperionplanning error logs.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I already replied there but it seems no moderator is willing to approve my reply so it never shows up.
    So I'll try replying in here instead:
    I never thought it could be an emulator issue, I thought I had done something wrong to begin with. So I take having performance issues with tiled layer is not a common problem I suppose?
    I'm using MOTODEV SDK platform, A1200 model (motorola).

    * Brendan Rickey 2004-JAN-09
    * The following are functions that are required to interface with the
    * EPSON StatusAPI DLL (C library) though ORA_FFI.
    * The following describes the DLL functions that are made available
    * through this ORA_FFI implementation:
    Function Purpose
    BiOpenMonPrinter Get a handle on a printer.
    Parameters
    p_Type --int: 1 if p_Name is a port, 2 if a printer name.
    ,p_Name --varchar2: the port of printer name to open.
    Return printer identifier number (>0) on success, < 0 on failure.
    BiCloseMonPrinter Close the monitor on the printer.
    Parameters
    p_Handle --int: The numerical printer handle returned from BiOpenMonPrinter.
    Return 0 on success, < 0 on failure.
    BiGetStatus Returns the status of the printer.
    Parameters
    p_Handle --int: The numerical printer handle returned from BiOpenMonPrinter.
    ,p_Status OUT --long: The status of the printer (use AND bitwise operator to test for statuses).
    Return 0 on success, < 0 on failure.
    BiDirectIO Sends data to and Reads data from the printer. Use BiDirectIOEx if more that 255 chars are to be written/read.
    Parameters
    p_Handle --int: The numerical printer handle returned from BiOpenMonPrinter.
    ,p_WriteLen --short: The length of the command/data being sent to the printer (max 255).
    ,p_WriteCmd --varchar2: The command/data to send to the printer.
    ,p_ReadLen --short: The length of the data to be read from the printer (max 255)
    (Use 0 if no data is to be read).
    ,p_ReadBuff OUT --varchar2: The buffer where the the data read from the printer is stored.
    ,p_Timeout --long: write/read time out in msecs.
    ,p_NullTerminate --short: 0 => reading of data from printer is performed until time out or length of p_ReadLen is reached.
    1 => reading is finished at thepoint when a NULL is received from the printer. ReadLen must have a value.
    Return 0 on success, < 0 on failure.
    BiDirectIOEx Sends data to and Reads data from the printer (handles larger quantities of write/read data).
    Parameters
    p_Handle --int: The numerical printer handle returned from BiOpenMonPrinter.
    ,p_WriteLen --long: The length of the command/data being sent to the printer.
    ,p_WriteCmd --varchar2: The command/data to send to the printer.
    ,p_ReadLen --long: The length of the data to be read from the printer (Use 0 if no data is to be read).
    ,p_ReadBuff OUT --varchar2: The buffer where the the data read from the printer is stored.
    ,p_Timeout --long: write/read time out in msecs.
    ,p_NullTerminate --short: 0 => reading of data from printer is performed until time out or length of p_ReadLen is reached.
    1 => reading is finished at thepoint when a NULL is received from the printer. ReadLen must have a value.
    ,p_Option --short: 0 => prevents Automatic Status Back (ASB) during execution of this function (as does BiDirectIO).
    1 => does not disable Automatic Status Back (ASB).
    Return 0 on success, < 0 on failure.

    Hi Duncan,
    Thanks for the response. Beyond the problem you pointed out I found that the "open server" command is requiring a window handle parameter, even though it isn't used by the program. I talked with Oracle Support and it turns out that even if the window handle isn't used, it's existence makes it not work with the current version of webutil.
    The program I am working with also has a COM interface, so I decided to back up and redo the interface using webutil OLE2. I've got it working now, just a little more polishing to do.
    Thanks again for the help.

  • Webforms - Wrap Text/Word Wrap for Column Headings

    I have some member aliases that are set as my webform's column headings, but they are fairly long. Setting the column width to a custom value that fits most of the text in the heading makes the form very wide and ugly to work with. I don't see any option to Wrap Text or use Word Wrap in the column headings. Is there any way to do this?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    I am not aware of any option which allows you to wrap the text, it may be possible customizing the [CSS |http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10530_01/doc/epm.931/html_hp_admin/ch12s03.html] though to be honest I am not even sure about that and even if it was possible it would apply to all apps.
    Cheers

  • Printing from webform

    Hi there,
    Does anyone out there knows how to print a report directly to a printer from the webform? The printer is actually connected to the client PC instead of the server.
    If anyone knows, would appreciate if someone can provide the complete steps on how that can be done. Thanks.

    Generate the report output to pdf file and open it Web ShowDocument call so that you can print on client local printer we have been using this for the last one year we don't have any problems.
    If the client machine is win Nt then they might be having some problem to print the pdf file for some printers not for all the printers.We don't have any problems for win95,98 users.

  • Unable to view SmartList in Planning webforms in 11.1.1.2

    Hi Friends,
    I am using Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.2 webforms. I am Unable to view SmartList in Planning webforms.
    steps I have done:
    1.Created a SmartList.
    2.Added entries to Smartlist
    3.Assigned the SmartList to a dimension Member(Account Member).
    4.In the webform I am selecting the same account member as Column member.
    5.One Members for Row.
    6.Rest of all the dimension members are POV/PAGE.
    When I open the form I am not able to see the smartlist for the account member. I am not able to select.
    Also I see that there is no "Enable Smart List" option in EPM (11.1.1.2). I have seen the same in 9.2
    Any Idea what needs to be set or changed?
    THanks In Advance
    ksrs.

    Hi,
    Have you set the evaluation order, Administration > Dimensions > Evaluation Order > Move the dimension that the smart list is against across to the right hand window.
    Cheers

  • How can I pre-populate a web app input form with data from a webform in the CRM?

    Scenario:
    A customer fills a registration webform. The customers data is stored in BC CRM as usual. This step provides a lead to marketing unit and the team makes a follow up. Upon completion of internal processes. The workflow initiated by this customer filling the registration form is approved.
    Th user is sent a 3rd-party notification with a url to enable the user complete the registration process by entering the information into a web app.
    The Issue:
    The client is requesting that he doesn't want the the customer to re-enter some of the  information that  has been captured in the registration form again since it will be laborious for the user to do this. He wants the system to store this customer data already in the CRM and pre-fill the web app form so that the user just submit the data, so that the item can be in the appropriate web app as web app item.
    Question: Is this possible? Can this be achieved via js. How should I go about it.
    Your assistance will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    For each option you would need to only have a custom text field for that item. This is where the otpion for each gets populated with javasript.
    Each option is your own html that is a select with options as web app items. A list layout of your web app items is just a select with text and value of that item.
    Your tricky thing is to setup the matrix of rules to define what shows and when. You can do that with data source association between web apps if it is a 1-1 relationship but if it is 1 to many you need to form script matrix to define what happens on each change.
    It depends on the details but thats the core of it.

  • Can't get Run Time Prompts to pop up in Planning 11.1.2.1 on WebForm

    Hi,
    Client is using Business Rules and not Calc Manager. I have a Webform that has a Business Rule attached with only Run on Save selected. In the BR there are various RTP's user needs to choose. When I navigate to the WebForm in the bottom left hand corner I don't see any available BR's. That is first clue it won't work? When I hit save, nothing pops up to select and only the message 'The data has been saved successfully' appears. Nothing about the rule has run successfully etc. I have provisioned the group I'm in with 'Validate or Launch' Access to the BR in question.
    Within EAS when I goto launch or validate the rule, the Run Time Prompt box pops up and allows me to make my selections but not when I hit Save on the form.
    Any ideas? Could it be a provisioning issue? My username is an admin.
    Stumped as I haven't done this in a while without Calc Mgr thus am I missing something obvious?

    OK. Possibly onto something here. On the left hand side of the Business Rule tab there are all the calc scripts. Then only Bus Rule that appears there is a new one I created that was an exact copy of the Business Rule in question, just with a '- New' appended to the end of the name. Funny thing is both Business rules that are attached to the form do appear on the right hand side. Thus how could that be? How does one get the Bus Rules to appear on the left hand side? Haven't been in EAS Business Rules mode for a long time.

  • SSRS Report Manager error "Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 500"

    Hi All,
    I am getting error "Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown error occurred while processing the request on the server. The status code returned from the server was: 500"
    in one of my Test Environment when trying to run the SSRS 2012 report from report manager.
    Any clue why it is happening.
    Thanks Shiven:) If Answer is Helpful, Please Vote

    Hi All,
    Upon investigation found that there was no space (0 Byte is available) in E drive where underlying SQL DB is residing.
    Once I cleared the space, report started working and above error was not displaying.

  • Hardware/Software needed for WebForms?

    My company is planning on migrating a Forms 3.0 application to
    WebForms (we need to support both Win95/98 PCs and Macintoshes).
    I understand the basic 3-tier structure (i.e. database server,

    unsure of what hardware and software is actually needed for the

    application server assuming that I don't have anything yet (NT
    or Unix)? Also, what are the general memory/disk requirements if
    the server needs to support about 100 concurrent connections?

    there is an Oracle marketing slogan about the Norwegian tax
    ministery (or so) running with about 5000 users concurrently.
    But they are only dealing with the number not further details.
    I'm just pushing a customer with a +- 100 form app to the web
    and they want ot go production in mid February. They (especially
    their admins) are very open to the technology and there are only
    some issues on prinitng from forms using customs documents,
    invoices and delivery notes. But I think after some changing of
    the print philosphy it will be working.
    If you are interested mail me and I will try to give you some
    hints after production.

  • Connect to sql server from 10g webforms using exec sql

    Hi
    We are embarking on a project to upgrade our 6i client server forms to 10g web
    based. One of our forms uses the exec_sql package to open a connection to an MS
    SQL Server database and execute queries on that database.
    Oracle open client adapter and an odbc driver for SQL Server is installed on
    every client to achieve this. I have read that open client adapter is no longer
    available on 10g.
    I also read that there a feature of the Oracle database called Generic
    Connectivity which would allow us to install an odbc driver on the database
    server and allow us to connect to sql server. However I discovered that this
    feature is not supported on TRU64 - the operating system our database runs on.
    I have read about Oracle Transparent gateways but I have been informed that they are not supported from forms.
    Is there any alternative? How can our webform connect to sql server and execute
    queries against it? The sql we need to execute is already sql server compliant so no translation is required - just a simple pass through
    thanks
    paul schweiger

    I used in the past Forms 6i against DB2 on a mainframe through Transparent Gateway for DB2. So I'm wondering who did you tell such a configuration does not work. And the migration guide states:
    /* Open Client Adapters (OCA)
    In order to provide platform-independent access to a wider range of non-Oracle data sources, use the Oracle Transparent Gateway and Generic Connectivity solutions in place of OCA. */
    At least gateway is mentioned.

  • Calling WebForms 10g on Windows XP Pro (SP2)

    Hello,
    When I try to invoke WebForms through the Web on Windows XP Pro (SP2) workstation, I get the following message:
    Oracle Application Server 10g Forms Services
    The Forms Listener Servlet is up and running.
    1) What does this mean ?
    2) Do I need to install JInitiator on my Windows XP Pro Clients ?
    PT

    Hello,
    I am trying to call-up my Forms through the URL in the address field in my Internet Explorer Browser. A typical call looks like this:
    http://Linux2005:7784/forms90/lservlet?config=KatzWebForms
    On one of my Windows XP Pro (SP2) clients, I have Oracle Forms/Reports 6i installed as well as Oracle 9i Client software. under the Program Files, I have an Oracle folder that contains the following sub-folders:
    Jinitiator 1.3.1.9
    Jinitiator 1.3.1.13
    Other Windows XP Pro (SP2) client computers only have Oracle 6i software installed and have no Jinitiator versions whatsoever.
    1) Are you suggesting that I should install/upgrade to Jinitiator 1.4.x all my Windows XP Pro (SP2) client computer ?
    Paolo
    PS: The funny thing is that I can call-up my FOrms on one Windows 98SE client computer.
    PS2: I did check that Internet Explorer has a JVM (Java Virtual Machine) installed.

  • Download of a webform within a BSP application

    Hi SDN members,
    I wrote a ESS BSP application with a 3 step wizard. Within the first step the user can enter some data in some form fields.
    In the second step a webform (SMARTFORM) with the form data is displayed and in the third step the user can save the document.
    Is there any possibility to save the web form as a document when the user saves the document. It would be sufficient to save the webform to the application server and get back a link.
    Later on the webform should be linked as a kind of attachment. This means when the user calls again the saved document a link should be available where the form can be called.
    The webform is called in the following way within my BSP:
    Call the generated function module
      call function l_function_module_name
           exporting
                    archive_index        =
                    archive_parameters   =
                      control_parameters   = ls_control_parameters
                    mail_appl_obj        =
                    mail_recipient       =
                    mail_sender          =
                      output_options       = ls_output_options
                      user_settings        = space
                      customer             = lt_customer
                      bookings             = lt_bookings
                      connections          = lt_connections
           importing
                    document_output_info =
                      job_output_info      = ls_output_data
                    job_output_options   =
           exceptions formatting_error     = 1
                      internal_error       = 2
                      send_error           = 3
                      user_canceled        = 4
                      others               = 5.
      if sy-subrc <> 0.
      error handling
        message id sy-msgid type sy-msgty number sy-msgno
                with sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
      endif.
      ls_xmloutput = ls_output_data-xmloutput.
      lt_html_raw  = ls_xmloutput-trfresult-content[].
    Fill HTTP request
      response->set_header_field( name = 'content-type'
                                   value = 'text/html; charset=UTF-8').
    SAP Smart Forms returns XML data island in raw data format.
    method 'set_data' of the response object needs the output
    in XSTRING. The next loop convertes the raw table into xstring.
      loop at lt_html_raw into l_xstring.
         concatenate l_html_xstring l_xstring into l_html_xstring
                                                   in byte mode.
      endloop.
      l_xlength = xstrlen( l_html_xstring ).
      response->set_data( data   = l_html_xstring
                          length = l_xlength ).
    Any ideas how to save the form in any way?
    Best regards
    Thomas

    Hi,
    thanks for your answer!
    Let me explain more in detail what I want to do.
    I am calling my BSP application from our SRM system. When the user saves the data which were entered in my BSP application, the data are transferred via OCI (Open Catalog Interface). This is already working.
    The only thing which is missing is the transfer of my webform to the SRM via OCI.
    OCI is waiting for a link to my form. Only then, the SRM can attach a document. See OCI description
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn?rid=/webcontent/uuid/ff03d072-0501-0010-aa88-8018506a2ebe">oci [original link is broken] [original link is broken]
    Therefore I have to download the form to get a link which can be written to the OCI interface. This could also be a temporary link.
