Oracel 9i Portal on Redhat 7.1

When running the Portal configuration assistant I get an ORA 00600 error during the creation of database objects in the remote database. I have set the shared_pool and java_pool to the recommended sizes. The install manual does not give a recommended size for the large_pool (although it suggests you select from the v$parameter view to make sure the setting is correct???). Is anyone else having this problem?
Full Error Message
ORA 00600 15456 WWA_API_MODULE 13
Thanks
Don Tipton

Hi Donald,
Don't know if this is the reason for the error you encounter, but I was advised to set the large_pool size to 4 times the original value (2457600 was to be the new value I believe).
Hope this helps,
Joey Mouha

  • License file error during portal startup

I've installed a portal (6.1MP1) on RHEL4. A few days ago, I've upgraded the license file to put new licenses for the installed components (Portal, Search and Publisher).
This morning, I had to restart my portal, unfortunately it doesn't come running. I got the following error :
    Task 'InitializeLicense' Failed on Startup
    Task #10 (InitializeLicense) Step #4
error: Missing, invalid, or expired license for AquaLogic Interaction-6.1-Portal.
    platform: RedHat Linux (Java)
failure: FATAL: Missing, invalid, or expired license for AquaLogic Interaction-6.1-Portal.
recommendation: RECOMMENDATION: Please make sure the license.bea file in
the BEA home directory contains valid license entries for this
    product/release/component.
    exception: XPException
Portal: license error, Invalid host IP
It's a kind frustrating because I didn't have changed the IP adress since the last portal restart.
For information, my OS (RHEL4) run under a VMWare ESX Server
Any idea to resolve this ?
    Thx

I had this issue and logged into the BEA license site and did a new retreival to replace my file. If you edit the text it will fail again though. based on your message you had my other issue where the ip of my good license was actually wrong and I had to change it via the online license management. then retreive again later.

  • Deleted the region on oracle 10g portal page

deleted the region on oracel 10g portal page . now i cannot access all the links on that region. is there any way i can get back those links and the region. Any idea where it will be stored(tables , database)
    Thanks

What do you mean by links? URL items? PAge link items? Other kinds of items?
If you delete a region, you delete the item content it contains, which is why you're asked "are you sure?" and are prompted to move content from the region you are about to delete (assuming your page layout allows it).
If you need to recover those items, you'll need to go to your portal backup. (Yes, the lack of easy logical restores in Portal is a huge pain)
and if you deleted the region that contained themthen those items are gone.
At this point, you'd have to retrieve it from database backups (depending on what the items were, you could use wwsbr_all_items or wwv_things).
Here's hoping those items are easy enough to recreate.

  • Not able to access the portal on the network - (RedHat Enterprise Linux 5).

    Friends,
I have installed the portal(7.1) on a linux(RHEL 5) box.I am able to access the portal locally and everything looks fine.
However when I try accessing the portal on the network...I get "page cannot be displayed" as if the server is not listning on 8080.
    when I do "GET http://rexportal.davita.corp:8080" I get ........
500 Can't connect to rexportal.davita.corp:8080 (connect: No route to host)
    what does this mean?
    other info:
    1) I have disbaled the firewall by setting SELinux to disabled.
2)I am able to traceroute to the m/c
    3) can ftp and SSH
    4) When I do "GET http://rexportal.davita.corp" I see a apache server page.It means apache server is accessible at port 80 on the network.
Can you plz help me resolve this issue.what can prevent my server not being accesible across the network
    Thanks!!
    Deepak.

I was able to resolve this.! basically It was a firewall issue.
To help othere here is what I found.
I had disabled the SELinux utility which should have basically disabled the firewall service but It didnt stop it.
You can check If the firewall is running with following command on redhat linux.
    service iptables status
If it is enabled ,you can either stop it by
/etc/init.d/iptables stop (not recommended -- for security)
    or
you can add a entry for the port you want to enable by modifying the file
    /etc/sysconfig/iptables
Hope it might be helpful !
    Thanks,
    Deepak.

  • Can OAS9i and Portal be installed on Linux RedHat(kernel 2.2.19) platform?

    Hi,
My question is the same as the subject written.
Can OAS9i and Portal be installed on Linux RedHat(kernel 2.2.19) platform? Basically, first, I can't find the OAS9i "*.cp" image files for RedHat Kernel 2.2.16 or later use, second, what I can download from OTN site is V1.0.2.2.1 which is for Linux RedHat Kernel 2.4.3-12 or later use. And I downloaded all the files which OAS9i version is V1.0.2.2.1, and failed to install on my platform. So I want to know is there anybody installing OAS9i and Portal successfully on RedHat 6.2(Kernel 2.2.19, glibc 2.1.3)? Or can share on other RedHat version had any successful installation processes or suggestion. Thanks in advance.
    Regards!
    Frank

9iAS 1.0.2.x is only supported on Redhat 7.0 and Suse 7.2

  • WL Portal 4.0 SP1 & RedHat 7.1: Install Failure

    Hi.
I was trying to install WL Portal 4.0 SP1 in Redhat 7.1.
The steps I first made were:
    1. jsdk1.4 install
    2. WL Server 6.1 SP2 install in directory "/usr/bea"
In the installation script of the Portal, after choosing to use the pre-existing
BEA directory ("/usr/bea"), I got the following error:
    Weblogic Server 6.1 Not Installed
    ------------------------------------------------------------ WebLogic Server 6.1
is a prerequisite for this installation. You do not seem to have it installed
    to /usr/bea
NOTE: I has using console mode installation
    Thanks in advance,
    Renato

    Renato,
The WebLogic Portal 4.0 SP1 installer cannot figure out where
WebLogic Server 6.1 is installer. On Linux, the installer reads
the beahomelist file under the $HOME/bea directory. That means
that if you use different user to install WebLogic Server 6.1 than
the user you are using for WebLogic Portal 4.0, then it will not
find where WLS is installed. You can either use the same user
account or create the beahomelist with one line that indicates the
location (directory of your BEA_HOME) under $HOME/bea directory.
Also, I noticed that you tried with J2SE 1.4. Keep in mind that
WebLogic Portal 4.0 SP1 has not been tested and certified with
that version and that you might run into problems.
    Hope this helps,
    Michel.

I am running my system with RedHat Linux 7.0 and tried to install Oracle 8.1.5.

pls send the solution ASAP to my email id - ([email protected])

Make sure you have IBM's Java 1.1.8 JRE/JDK installed on your server and $JAVA_HOME set. Check the Oracle installation instructions. One other problem with Red Hat 7.0. is that
there is a libc library incompatibility problem with Red Hat linux 7.0 and Oracle 8i. The database will not start after you install it. Go to MetaLink (if you have support) and search for document # 121176.1. Basically, you have to download an older version of glibc, modify your Oracle link environment files, re-link the database executables and all will work normally. I did it on my Red Hat Linux 7.0 server two weeks ago and everything is working fine. Only other alternative is downgrade to Red Hat 6.2.

Oracle 8i is not compile/link time compatible with glibc 2.2. It
requires the glibc 2.1 compatibility SDK, i386-glibc-2.1-linux.tar.gz,
to install under systems based on glibc 2.2, like RedHat 7.0.
RedHat 7.0 ships with glibc 2.2. Oracle compiles with glibc 2.1. See the problem here? The good folks at valinux.com have created a compatiblitly SDK that will "fix" Redhat so you can install Oracle 8i. Go to the following link to learn more:

    Vijaya zi,
Are you still having problem..with this..let me know??
first of all 8.1.7 , or 8.1.6. 8.1.5 neither one of these are certified to work with linux 7.0 Redhat.
Secondly there is a work around you could try..assuming that you have set the enviroment varaible and JVM corrent..( let me know if you need help with this)
    here u go...
There is this linux gnu lib file which oracle is looking for which was there in 6.x and not in 7.0.
However if you have upgraded from 6.X linux to 7.0 then it will work..
for some reason it is looking for this glibc file.
either way the oracle message it is giving is not relavant...
it is just not going to work...unless you find a way to implement that glibc file..
I had link..which talk about the work around..

    WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!
The procedure for RedHat 7.0 is not officially approved by Oracle. If you are putting a mchine into production, I would strongly recommend sticking with RedHat 6.2 instead (and patching the security holes in it). There are other problems with RedHat 7.0 that extend beyond Oracle. Personally, I'm waiting for 7.1 before I think hard about migrating
    hope this help...

  • AJAX supported in Oracel Portal ?

    Dear all,
Can anyone suggest me some information on AJAX support in Oracle Portal ?
    thanks
    George (HK)

I am a self taught pl/sql programmer. My client's site does not have any custom JSP. We do everything in PL/SQL.
I created a httpxmlrequest powered page:
    1) step one write or find a database query based script that accepts a string from the url and gives results based on that string. The example i used (phone lookup) took a string (ss) from the url and queried a table to find employee names that contained that string.
As the used types in letters the list shortens and zeros in on the desired result.
(In the code I created a two letter length minimum, so no data gets displayed till there is at lease two letters typed in.)
you can test this page by typing &ss='Yor' on the end of the url. It will return all the records that contain 'Yor' like Yorke.
I will leave it to you to build a query.
    2) Place the query on a portal page, with no header graphics or any other elements. A naked page. I call this my data page.
    3) Create a normal page with all your header and footer decorations. On this page place a item that calls the code that accepts the search string (ss) and calls the httpxmlrequest. It also displays the results of the data page into a div on this page. see paulyorke.com/ajax/ajax_sample.sql.rtf
When you run the page no results should show up till you lift your finger of the second character. A result list should show up.

    Hi Mr. BigMAN,
I'm not sure if the CLOB issue solved by patch_CR067935.zip has this symptom. In any case, you should install
the patch because you will need it if you are going to use Portal 4.0 sp1 with Oracle. Everyone out there who is
using Oracle with Portal 4.0 sp1 should install this patch (search for "67935" at this location:
    http://e-docs.bea.com/wlp/docs40/relnotes/relnotes.htm#246667
Back to your current problem: Did you run the loadSampleData script? Try running it after you install the
patch. ( http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs40/deploygd/oraclnew.htm#1040434 ). Also, make sure you set up the JDBC
Helper Service for all of the J2EE applications that use JDBC services. (
http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs40/deploygd/oraclnew.htm#1064575 ). You need to configure the p13nApp, portal, and
    wlcsApp.
Let me know if you continue to have problems with this and I'll see what I can do to help.

  • Succes installing 9iAS R2 (release 2) on RedHat Linux 7.3

I had success installing 9iAS release 2 on RedHat Linux 7.3. I used the instructions on http://www.puschitz.com/OracleOnLinux.shtml.
At first, I tried this on RedHat 8.0. Funny thing is: installation of infrastructure failed even though I followed the instructions. Then I downloaded 7.3, followed EXACTLY the same instructions and voila, works like a charm.
Puschitz' instructions are for 9i and not for 9iAS though. Some additions:
    1) One of the pre-installation steps there says to set some environment variables, one of them being the SID. It's set to 'test', but of course with standard settings the sid of the database that comes along with 9iAS has a SID of 'iasdb'.
    2) Also what I did, was to downgrade the binutils package to the version provided by Oracle here: http://otn.oracle.com/software/products/oracle9i/files/binutils_readme.html. As an alternative, Puschitz says to change some makefiles. I didn't try this.
    3) I then installed the infrastructure. When finished, I exited the installation and rebooted. After the reboot:
    4) I changed to the /bin directory and typed (as root):
    ln -s /sbin/fuser
    5) Changed back to user 'oracle' and started the infrastructure with:
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/sqlplus
    connect / as sysdba
    startup
    exit
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/lsnrctl start
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oidmon connect=iasdb start
    $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oidctl connect=iasdb server=oidldapd instance=1 start
    $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin/opmnctl startall
    6) Then started the installer and did the middletier installation. Rebooted.

Following your instructions i've also succesfull installation of ias9iR2 Infrastructure on Redhat7.3. Checked the database Iasdb and Enterprise Manager Website (on http://liminwang:1810), everything works fine. Hence i try to install Portal & Wireless on the same machine on a different Oracle_home (but on the same Oracle_base) according to the installation guide. The installation stuck when i've chosen the Portal and Wireless option. I get a warning that the Enterprise Manager Website Process is still running and it must be stopped to proceed the stallation. So i stopped this process by: $oracle_home/bin/emctl stop
Still i get the same warning. Stopping the database also doesn't help. Even when i deinstalled the Enterprise Manager Website component i get the same warning.
    Please help!

  • Can't install Portal in a 9i Database

    Hi
I can get PORTAL to install in an 8.1.7R3 database with no problems. However, when I give the Portal Installer the SYS Password and HOST:PORT:NAME the installer can't log into the database.
Originally, I assumed that it may have to do with SYS must login as SYSDBA requirement and I set O7_DICTIONARY_ACCESSIBILITY=TRUE, bounced the database and restarted the Portal Installer. Still the installer can't login to a 9i database as SYS.
    Thank you for your time.

I have 9ias and Portal 3.0.9 running on 9i db on RedHat 7.2.
It was really no problem. The first key is to downgrade your
binutils until the entire install is finished and stable. Then
the 9i install goes in great. Next do the
    07_dictionary_accessibility=TRUE thing....
After that, don't even try to let the portal config assistant
run. Even if you get past the can't log in as sysdba thing,
You'll NEVER get past the insufficient pool size thing. So, just
do the install: If enterprise, do not allow Portal to install at
all, do it in another install after. Otherwise, what I did, was
a minimal install. You'll need jdk 1.2.2 from blackdown for this
(even though you need 1.1.8 for 9i and the rest of 9ias). once
the install is finished, the Portal config assistant will kick
off, it WILL error, so just cancel it and do execute the silent
version of the installs (linstall, winstall). After that, it
will run slow and or timeout CONSTANTLY, so, all I did to
finally fix that was to delete or comment out anything that had
to do with the MTS dispatchers.... once that was done, my portal
    runs like a shot.
Now if I could only figure out how to bulk load users from a
    table from an old system...
