  • Forms 10g Installation issue on windows 7 Professional service pack 1

    hi
I am trying to install oracle forms 10g  64 bit windows 7 Professional service pack 1 ..
Below are 2 files that i am using ..
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip (626,122,752 bytes)
    ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2.zip (236,880,881 bytes)
But it failed but the error is ..
Checking operating system version: must be 4.0, 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2.    Actual 6.1     Failed <<<<
just wondering if there are any workaround ..

Christian is right - Forms 10g R2 (version 10.1.2.0.2) is not certified for installation on Windows 7.  You must apply a Forms 10g R2 patch to bring the version to 10.1.2.3.0 for it to be certified.  You must have a My Oracle Support account to obtain the patch.
Now, to your question - is there a workaround; the answer is yes.  There are known issues with this installer.  I'll list them and their workaround.
    1.  The Oracle installer checks for a specific set of Windows versions rather than check for a minimum Windows version.
Workaround:  Right-click the Installer and select Properties.  Click the Compatibility tab and click the checkbox: Run this program in compatibility mode for:  Windows XP SP3).
    2.  The Oracle Installer can't detect Windows Managed Virtual Memory (VM).
Workaround:  You must temporarily change the Virtual Memory settings and specify specific Initial and Maximum sizes.  See this Microsoft article for more information on changing VM settings.  http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/change-the-size-of-virtual-memory
This change will require you to restart your computer.  After you have successfully installed Oracle Forms 10g, you can restore the original VM settings.
    3.  The Oracle installer MUST be installed as an "Administrator".
Workaround:  Windows 7 uses "Least privileged user" so you must right-click the Installer and select the Compatibility tab.  Click the "Run this program as an administrator" checkbox.
    4.  Not a Oracle installer issue, but you will have to install the 32-bit version of the Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) (1.6.0 - not 1.7.0) because Oracle Forms is a 32-bit application so it will not be able to use the 64-bit JRE.
Run the Oracle installer and it should now install succesfully.

  • Installation of Windows 8.1 in the Maverick Bootcamp Issues

When installin the Windows 8.1 on the Bootcamp partition of the OS X Mavericks. I have removed the original optic drive and placed it in a seperate case connected USB. The Bootcamp 5.1 (and 5) have both been used to attempt the installation. The Bootcamp partition is created. Once the two check boxes have been selected (I have assumed that the first check box must only be done once in order to save this to the USB flash drive). Upon the Bootcamp Assistant recognizing this installation a pop up will tell you to give the disc a few seconds to recognize the you click the OKAY box. The desktop will fade out and the Apple loader (circle will be in view). The desktop will then reboot to what appears to be the installing of the windows disc. Upon the self reboot the screen will go to a quick gray (5-10 seconds) then default to a Blackout screen with a flashing cursor in the top left corner (this is the same quick screen that occurs whenever WIndows 7 or 8 is in it's boot initial start). Now from hear the installation never continues. At this point I have tried the methods and have spent 8 hours with both the LeveL 2 technicians at APPLE and MICROSOFT. To no avail!!!! There would appear to be a conflict between the Windows EFI files at booting the windows and the Bootcamp assistant installation commands for the partition booting for install. Nobody as of yet has come up with the solution or answer/fix. If anyone has seen this or has found a work around for this issue. Please feel free to post. I feel this is either a very simple issue that we are all overlooking or this has not been addressed as of yet. As I understand both parties are saying that they have been getting many calls regarding this issue but have not understood why it is occurring. I will be will to post different scenarios that have been attemted. Again if anyone has seen this and/or found a way to make this work please post you methods and/or thoughts. Oh by the way, all of the installations directions dealing with the Windows step by step instruction from both Windows and Apple have not worked. If the hard reboot is done and holding the option key (therefore giving you your drive selection options) you can see the Windows disc in the external drive but it will not boot to that drive. This leads us to believe that the USB is the conflict with the Windows EFI files. We have attempet this also from the Flash drive installation using the .iso but upon the hard reboot/option start the flash drive .iso file is not available for disc selection. This has led me to think that a .iso copy could be placed on the new bootcamp partion (in the Disk utility application) but I am uncertain if this could be booted form the hard reboot/option startup. Just some thoughts. So again, our final stage is staring at a Black screen with a cursor flashing, oh and there is no keyboard entry recognized at this point. In order to exit you must hard reboot/option restart to get back to the Mac HD. Looking forward to your ideas folks!

Okay, new update! As of today, I have been able to finally create a .ISO bootable flash drive that contains the new Windows 8.1 Pro. Once the bootcamp partition has been made I can now interrupt the reboot process and using the Option Key select the new EFI bootable Windows disk (on USB) it's orange. The Windows begins to load and takes me through a few steps of selecting language and enter the product key. Then we move on to the selection of the partition that is to be used for the installation of Windows. Here is where I have tried several different types of things but have not been able to get through to the installing. Depending on what selection was made during the Bootcamp partitioning installation from my Utilities in Mavericks will depend on the faults that I get. If I choose to erase and make a new installation on the new bootcamp partition then during the Windows installation (at the partitioning step) I will get the error that Windows cannot be installed on the MBR disk (Master Boot) and must be done on the GPT disk. If I try any of the disk options at this point it will either delete the partition (and cannot ADD a new partion) therefore I am forced to return back out to the Mac HD OS and restart the Bootcamp process OR If in the Bootcamp set up I choose the first option to make a partition for the Windows installation then once I get into the partitioning set up for the Windows install it says the same thing. Now I have also attempted all of the other options even the load drivers option (assuming that maybe this will allow me to load disk drivers to read the Bootcamp HD) Nope, still no continuing on to installation. I have read many days on several other methods used in the Forum. By the way, thanks for all the posts it has allowed me to be able try just about everything to include the cloning of the Info.plist files and teminal authorizations for USB and so on. I'm not a supertech but have been able to find my way around with some difficulties. The real issue here is that Apple and Microsoft have yet to make this process  very easy even for someone who has some experience with this. I have loaded Windows 7 on several other Macbook Pros operating earlier versions of the OS X but this has become absolutely too time consumming to ever wish to continue to operate MAC products in my preferred Windows. I have used other 3rd party boot patitioning programs such as Parallels and VMware. My experience with these types of programs make the install process much easier but in time as different OS software updates are applied these programs tend to have different problems forcing the user to make odd corrections at the most in opportune times. If there is anyone that has any information to further my progress I am all ears to see what may be the fix!

Somewhere I've read that the reason might be that the installation uses 32bit JDK, but I don't know if I did something wrong.
Somewhere else I've read that the reason could be the Path setting, which may include some directories with emphasis in the name which might be a problem for Weblogic.
Any idea or help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mark

    FYI,
This is related to Oracle-Bug 9370799 which hopefulls get sorted out sometimes. Having "(" or ")" somewhere in the PATH is not working. The workaround til the Bug is solved as of support is :
    =================================
    1) Remove the directory with "(" ")" from the System Path at install time only (this is what you have already performed)
    2) Roll back the change so the System Path contains again the directory path with parenthesis
    3) Copy in the clipboard the current PATH value and edit the <Middleware Home>\wlserver_10.3\common\bin\commEnv.cmd file and look for the following line:
    if "%WL_USE_X86DLL%" == "true" set PATH=%PATCH_PATH%;%WL_HOME%\server\native\win\32;%WL_HOME%\server\bin;%ANT_HOME%\bin;%JAVA_HOME%\jre\bin;%JAVA_HOME%\bin;%PATH%;%WL_HOME%\server\native\win\32\oci920_8
    4) Before this line define PATH to value you have in the clipboard without the reference to the directory with "(" and ")"
    5) Save the commEnv.cmd and you should be able to start up your domain having the directory containing the "(" and ")" in the System Path

  • How to install forms 6i runtime using windows Systems Management Server?

    Hi,
Our clinents are using oracle forms 5 application and we want to upgrade to forms 6i ( client /server ).
How to install oracle forms 6i and reports 6i runtime in multiple client machines
using windows systems management server instead of installing one by one manually.
    Regards

Here is a quick summary on why this works...
    The Problem:
The issue relies with the method and logic that MDT’s scripts use to query and validate that the proper disks, partitions and storage space reside before starting the installation of Windows.
Essentially what you have configured in the Task Sequence and the UNATTEND.xml is analyzed by the MDT scripts then a validation is completed against the hardware in which you wish to install Windows
on and if there are any errors you will be prompted with MDT Error or Warning dialogs.
The problem is that the MDT scripts use WMI to query the hard disk, partition and free space requirements for Windows, but in the case of using GPT disk, the 2nd partition (MSR) that you have to create
is hidden. The class that WMI uses for its query can’t see the MSR partition so instead of 3 partitions, it returns 2 in the query results; hence why DISK 0 PARTITION 3 doesn’t work as mentioned earlier when configured in the MDT Task Sequence.
Although the above still confuses me as to why it works with DISK 0 PARTITION 2 since the WMI query results return PARTITION IDs 0 and 1 when it should return 1 and 2…
The Windows Pre-Installation Environment however does see all 3 partitions correctly and we tried configuring in our Task Sequence to install Windows to DISK 0 and PARTITION 2 and in the UNATTEND.xml
file to install Windows to DISK 0 and PARTITION 3 but due to timing issues of the way Windows installs with MDT, did this not work for us.

iam unable to install 11g Database & Forms_Reports Developer in the Windows XP.

    Some Preliminaries
First off, Oracle certifies only certain combinations of Oracle Fusion Middleware will work together, so make sure you have the right executables.
Only WLS 10.3.5 (and just released WLS 10.3.6) works with Oracle Forms and Reports 11.1.2.
Don't bother with the ZIP distribution on OTN.
Don't bother with the 12c (cloud distribution) of the application server.
First, you need to install the Java JDK (Java Development Kit) jdk1.6u31 or later.
Second, run wls1035_win32.exe to unpack and install the Weblogic server. Only install the software, do not install Windows service or run the Quickstart. That can wait until after Forms software installs.
Third, before installing Oracle Forms, a crucial environment variable setting needs setting. To make this change persistent, access your System Properties (right-click on My Computer icon on the desktop), switch to the "Advanced" tab , then press the "Environment Variables" pushbutton.
Create and set an environment variable "EXTRA_JAVA_PROPERTIES". Make sure that the value is set to -Xms256m -Xmx256m
Fourth, start the setup.exe program for the Oracle Forms and Reports 11.1.2 installer.
At Step 3 of 13, select "Install software - Do not Configure". This will save time in case configuration bombs and you have to retry.
After a long while, the software installation process will finish.
Fifth, you will want to run the configuration wizard. This is the most memory sensitive part of the whole process.
Please close down all disk and memory intensive applications, including Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Firefox, and possibly Internet Explorer.
Failure to allow enough memory to inflate several JVMs can cause the wizard to hang.
You will have acquired a bunch of new Programs and shortcuts.
Swing over to the Start Menu and look for the Oracle Classic 11g - Home 1 group.
Inside you'll find a shortcut for Configure Classic Instance --- run it.
At Step 2 of the configuration tool, choose "Configure for Development"
At Step 10, you will start the process of creating Weblogic's "Classic Domain" for Forms and Reports 11g R2.
It may take 5 minutes or so to create ClassicDomain. This is the most memory sensitive part of the entire process.
The wrong configuration will cause the wizard to hang or fail on the "Create Domain" step.
If you're not seeing any checkmarks (or the progress indicator still shows 0% ) after 10 minutes, then you should cancel and get help. ( support.oracle.com )

  • MSI 975X PROBLEM WITH INSTALLATION ON WINDOWS VISTA

I have MB MSI-975X PLATINUM v.1 withbios ver 1.3,processor Pentium D940 (3,2GHz/800/2x2MB),2X512MB DDR-2 667MHz,in the beginning when I start the installation on WINDOWS VISTA  the computer is bloked od it is restart. This problem I solved when I put another processor INTEL 541(3,2GHz/800/1MB) whit this processor everthing is ok,but with INTEL 940 it can not be install WINDOWS VISTA .
I’m asking you for a new superstructure on bios update .

Beta 2 or RC1 candidate???? RC1 should support..........
Beta 2 is real, slow and you have alot of updates to DL, but both are pre-release products and will not work 100%.
Even when Vista is released, they will still be alot of hardware that will not work 100% and this is purely because software is always playing catch up to hardware.
It was only September, when Nvidia released some Beta2/RC1 drivers that worked properly........

How to open a entity form in a new window using openEntityForm() method.

As far as I'm aware, there isn't a supported way to do this in the client-side API. You could use window.open instead

Now I am trying to run the Net config assistant outside of the installer and configure a 10g listener for the 10g instance using a port different from the 1521 that teh 9i listener is using and it keeps telling me that:
The information provided for this listener is currently in use by other software on this computer. You can proceed with the configuration as is but it will not be possible to start the listener until the conflict is resolved...
I have tried several different ports (the only thing that could be in conflict, I think) and I keep getting the same message..
    HELP!!
Has anyone out there set up a 9i and 10g installation on Windows using two different listeners, one for the 9i and another for 10g?

Yes, I have read this other thread you have cited but there is no conclusion - other than maybe by rerunning the install he overcame the issue and never completed the thread. In my case, the initial 10g install failed to run the net config assistant and there never was a 10g listener service created. Also, now I try to run the net config assistant stand alone and it refuses to create a listener service...claims that there is a conflict, even if I try on other than the default port.
I'm thinking the conflict lies with the fact there is an up and running 9i listener service and yes that listener is active because it is servicing a live production instance.
Our goal was to install a 10g instance with it's own separate listener, import our schemas and test our app on a 10g database then one day turn the 10g into the production instance.
Our plan was to avoid endangering the production environment by even trying to service the 9i database with the 10g listener. You cannot use a 9i listener for a 10g database but from what I read in the other thread you have cited, to try to fire up the 10g listener to service the 9i production instance would have resulted in a loss of servicve to the production environment if I experience the same phenomena as the fellow in the other thread.
Thank you for your time and consideration here...
I believe I should propose to have a separate server box set up to host this new 10g database. Our overall objective is to keep the production system up and running no matter what.
In the old days I remember that if too many attempts were made at installing on a Windows platform the registry would get hosed up beyond repair and the only out was to re-image the box and start over with a fresh copy of teh Windows operating system:-)
Let me know if you have any further suggestions...
    Regards-
    Jim
