Oracle 10.2.0.4 (64 bit) for IA64 (Itanium) Windows Availability?

Does anyone know when 10.2.0.4 will be available for Itanium Windows based systems?  It has been available for every other platform for quite a while now.
thanks,
Ethan Hill

Hi,
Did Oracle release it?
Then why Metalink note
161549.1 "Oracle Database Server and Networking Patches for Microsoft Platforms"
indicates:
64-Bit Itanium Patches :
Patch       Target date
10.2.0.4.0   Beginning 2009
This is a question only Oracle can answer. I think that, if you are "really" interested, you will have to open a message with SAP
As soon As Oracle Releases, then SAP must test it. So give it a couple more weeks (minimum) afer the oracle release date

    All 10g oracle is under extended support, the XE 10g version was yanked from the download pages at about the time 10g went Extended.
    Probably won't be able to get a download from anywhere under oracle.com but there might be a few sites that still have it hosted. Try google.

  • Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2 for Windows 64 bit?

    Will there be any "Oracle 11g xe" is available for windows 64 bit in future?
    I know using 32b apps on 64b doesn't make any sense, still want to know if there is any way to execute current 32 bit version on 64 bit cleanly?

    Probably not any time real soon, XE doesn't get much priority on the development side of things.
    I've gotten the XE to install OK on Windows server, Standard ed. 2008R2 x64 but it was a very long time ago.
    >>using 32b apps on 64b doesn't make any sense
    But it can work, in most all cases. Unfortunately the XE installer is one of the exceptions. Definitely can't go the other way, e.g. install x64 software on an x86 OS. And an x86 OS can be installed on x64 hardware, but that isn't much help either. But if host memory is tight, going x86 will have slightly smaller memory footprints. Many reasons for going x64, saving memory is not one of 'em.
    What can work is try the Linux version of XE, it is x64. Might take perhaps a half hour to install Virtual Box and set up a virtual machine with e.g. Fedora and boot the VM, install, maybe another half hour or so to get the OS updates.
    My preference is for the KDE desktop, its a bit closer to a Windows look and feel than the Gnome desktop. Linux will be different, but really, its the same thing. An OS provides and controls access to resources, e.g. memory, disks, all the peripherals (keyboard, mouse, NIC, etc.). XE can work in a VM with 1GiB total RAM for a VM, but more is better. The OS needs memory too.
    It also helps with the XE install to customize the disk partition layout at the OS install, adjust swap space to at least a full 2GiB.

    How you can use 64bit kernel with 32bit DB.
    I suggest you keep 32bit SAP, 32bit oracle 9.2 db.
    Do upgradation of oracle 9.2 to 10.2 32bit.

  • Oracle 8.1.7.4 32 bit and SGA size

    hi gurus,
    OS : solaris 5.8 64 bit
    Oracle: 8.1.7.4 32 bit
    i have seen documents saying that maximum SGA allocation possible is only 1.75 GB due to 32 bit application limitation.
    is there a way in which we can allocate > 1.75 GB for the SGA granules?
    any option like /AWE in windows?
    thanks,
    charles

    OS : solaris 5.8 64 bit
    Oracle: 8.1.7.4 32 bitAs far as i know mixing 32-bit database and 64-bit operating system is not supported - as 8i is.
    Anyway with a 32-bit database you are basically limited to 2 GB per process. You can use "indirect_data_buffer" which will
    enable you to increase your database block buffers > 2 GB....

  • Using Oracle Stored Proc as Data Source for PowerBuilder Data Window Object

    Hi,
    I'm trying to use an Oracle stored procedure as the data source for a PowerBuilder data window object. I'm using the following (which is a variation of an example given on Sybase's web site, with the appropriate database/column name changes and use of %TYPE):
    ======================
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE pkg_dw_sp_example
    AS
    TYPE typ_example_rec1 IS RECORD(
    v_comcodsa st_sa.comcodsa%TYPE,
    v_comnamsa st_sa.comnamsa%TYPE,
    v_cocitysa st_sa.cocitysa%TYPE);
    TYPE cur_example_cur1 IS REF CURSOR;
    RETURN typ_example_rec1;
    END;
    ======================
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE sp_dw_example1
    (arg_teamid IN st_sa.comcodsa%TYPE,
    cur_team IN OUT pkg_dw_sp_example.cur_example_cur1)
    AS
    BEGIN
    OPEN cur_team FOR
              SELECT comcodsa,
              comnamsa,
              cocitysa
              FROM st_sa
              WHERE st_sa.comcodha = arg_teamid;
    END sp_dw_example1;
    ======================
    The package is created okay, but the procedure is saved with compilation errors. Unfortunately, Oracle does not indicate what the errors are (great product), so I have no idea what it is complaining about.
    Questions:
    1) Can anyone point me to/or provide a better example?
    2) The examples in books I have seen all would have declared the procedure in the package specification - is the above valid?
    3) This is a PowerBuilder specific question, but if the package does not show up in the stored procedure list when creating a data window object, how does one use it as a data source?
    Oracle 8.1.7
    PowerBuilder 8.0.1
    Thanks,
    Ed Holloman

    1) Everything looks fine with your code. You did not mention the environment you are compiling your code in, but if it is SQL*Plus, you can type 'show errors' after the compile and it will list the errors and line numbers for you.
    2) You can include the procedure in the package - in which case you would have a procedure declaration in the spec and the actual procedure in the body. You would no longer include the 'create or replace' - the declaration and procedure would just start with 'procedure'. The spec would look include:
    PROCEDURE sp_dw_example1
      (arg_teamid IN st_sa.comcodsa%TYPE,
       cur_team OUT cur_example_cur1);Note the removal of the package reference (since we are now IN the package) and the second parameter is just OUT instead of IN OUT.
    3) Not much, but I know that in PB8, our developers have said they have visibility now to the package when creating a DW - something they didn't have in PB7. Previously, we had to create a dummy standalone procedure that they would select and they would later modify the code to include the package prefix.
    Hope this helps a bit.

  • Oracle 10.2.0.5 software download for HP-UX IA --missing a zip file?

    Hi all,
    Has anyone successfully downloaded and installed the oracle 10.2.0.5 patchset for HP/UX IA 64-bit ?
    We downloaded the fie "'51040056-2.zip  Oracle RDBMS patch 10.2.0.5 for hp-ux ia64 64 bit.'and 'un-jarred' it according to sap's directions.
    However,when we try to install the oracle 10.20.5 patchset it complains about missing files,such as oracle.bali.cabo.
    Since the zip file name appears to indicate that it is 2nd file of 2,we are wondering if there should be another zipfile to download on SAP's site? We only see the file indicated above.
    If anyone has done this download/install succesfully for hp-ux ia 64,would appreciate your advice.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can give us,
    Ann

    Hello Ann,
    Where have you download the patchset?

  • Oracle client with Citrix Xenapp 64 bit

    Hi,
    I have below queries :
    1) Can we install Oracle 9i client 32 bit on Citrix Xenapp 64 bit machine ?
    2) Can we install Oracle 9i client 64 bit on Citrix Xenapp 64 bit machine ?
    3) Can we install Oracle 11g client 32 bit on Citrix Xenapp 64 bit machine ?
    4) Can we install Oracle 11g client 64 bit on Citrix Xenapp 64 bit machine ?

    Queries do not make much sense.
    Oracle does not provide client db drivers for a hypervisor or vritual machine system software. It provides it for the operating system used.
    Oracle provide client drivers, 32bit and/or 64bit, for a number of operating systems and operating system versions. Does Oracle provide drivers for Windows XP? Yes. For Windows Vista? Yes. For Windows 7? Yes.
    See Instant Client Downloads.
    Whether such a driver works on a Windows o/s that is running in a virtualised container, and can provide database connectivity, depends on the nature of that container's support for the underlying operating system, and the configuration of that container ito of network connectivity to the real world.
    Oh yes - using Oracle 9i in any shape or form also does not make sense. It is a product discontinued years ago.

    I suggested Linux in '04 I came from an IBM z/os background and did not want Windows. Oh well.What "Oh well"?? I was commending you for moving away from Winows. ;-)
    I started my career on IBM system 360 and was on its descendant up to z/os before moving to the DBA role in a client server enviornment. With that I worked with Windows, OS/2, OpenVMS, and several flavors of nix.  I always* recommend against Windows for anything besides end-user desktop ... and that only because of Windows's pervasiveness in that arena.
    >
    Is it really that easy to just install Oracle 11g R1 (64-bit) and take a 9.2.0.7 dmp (Windows) and import it in?
    I do not have anything else to do? What about data type differences etc......I have some Blobs and Clobs in this database.I've never had the opportunity to work with clobs and blobs, but I do understand there are some issues there with exp and imp. I understand there are methods for dealing with it, but it does add a bit more complexity. Aside from that, it really is that easy. When using exp/imp to move data between different versions of oracle, always exp with the utility from the lower version and imp with that of the version being imported into.
