  • What is the easiest way to export all tables data from Oracle to MS SQL Server?

    Hello MS,
I would like to export all tables from Oracle 11.2 to MS SQL Server 2012 R1.
Using the tool "Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant v6.0 for Oracle" did not work for me because there are too many warnings and errors regarding the schema creation (MS cannot know it because they are not the schema designer). My idea is
to leave/skip the schema creation to the application designer/supplier and instead concentrate on the Oracle data export and MS SQL data import.
What is the easiest way to export all tables data from Oracle to MS SQL Server quickly?
    Is it:
    - the „MS SQL Import and Export Data“ Tool
    - the “MS SQL Integration Services” Tool
    - not Oracle dump *.dmp format because it is a propritery binary format
    - flat file *.csv (delimited format)
    Thanks!

    Hi lingodingo,
If you want to directly export all tables from Oracle database to SQL Server, I suggest you use SQL Server Import and Export Wizard. Because you just need to follow the wizard with GUI, this is the easiest way.
If you want to make some modification for the tables‘ data before loading to SQL Server, I suggest you use SQL Server Integration Services package. For more details, please refer to the following similar thread:

  • Easiest Way to Access Oracle DB from Linux

I haven't had much luck installing Oracle 8i for Linux on Red Hat 7.0. All I really want to do is access an Oracle database residing on a different (NT) server. What is the easiest way to do this? I thought that by installing 8i, I would automatically get an Oracle client.
I tried installing root, unixODBC, RDBS, and the Oracle client but after doing so, when I try to run ODBCConfig (or DataManager) I get:
    [root@rbilonick database]# ODBCConfig
ODBCConfig: Symbol `__vt_4QTab' has different size in shared object,
    consider re-linking
    Segmentation fault
    [root@rbilonick database]# DataManager
DataManager: Symbol `__vt_4QTab' has different size in shared object, consider re-linking

I've tried recompiling the srpm but then I get:

    Yeah,
so the main issue with this method is that ukMap() is displayed on "stage" at 0x0 which means it runs over the top of the view navigator bar at the top.
I suppose i could figure out the hight of this and position its y value according .
It would be just nice to add like a "vgroup" component and use addChild within this some how????

It totally depends on your business requirements. If business requires something then you have to do it even though it is hard through the technology.

    1) Oracle Replication.
    2) Oracle Data Guard.

  • What is the easiest way to  downgrade to 10.7 on seperate partion?

I want to be able to boot up in either version

You can't downgrade Mountain Lion to Lion. If you have the Lion installer then you can install Lion on the other partition.
If you purchased Lion in the App Store, then you can start by installing Snow Leopard on the other partition. Update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 - Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1. Sign in to the App Store with the Apple ID used to purchase Lion, then re-download Lion from your Purchases page.

  • Oracle equivalent of SAP BAPI/RFC? Stored Procedures?

    Hello all.
I am looking at the development of integrating our desktop application with Oracle. We would like to upload/download objects from Oracle EAM such as Assets, Work Orders, etc using ODP.NET.
We already have a similar connector to SAP. In this system, we use SAP RFCs in combination with the SAP .Net Connector. SAP RFCs are like a middleware layer that carries out similar functions to the GUI and can be called from .Net. EG you might have an RFC named RFC_CREATE_EQUI, which matches Create Equipment in the GUI. SAP contains many default RFCs covering most of its functions.
I would like to know if there is anything similar to SAP RFCs in Oracle? I believe that stored procedures could be similar, but there are no defaults stored in Oracle.
Or do we just have to access the DB directly with SQL? If so, how do we go about data verification? EG So that I cannot upload an Asset without an Asset Number.
Thanks in advance for your help!

I think I've found out what I need - Oracle Open Interfaces / APIs.
Could someone explain to me the easiest way of calling these from .NET?
    Thanks!

  • Installing SAP ERP6 EHp4on Solaris 10 ,oracle 10g

    Hello gurus
    i am planning to install SAP ERP6 EHP4on SOLARIS 10 Sparc,Oracle 10g
So i have 3 questions that i need a bit clarified although i went thro the inst guide
1.Will the install  or sapinst ask me to create the oracle directories and  sapdata files?Like the previous versions oracle 9.X.
2.If its not then what is the easiest way to point the installation to install in specfic directories e.g /oracle/SID/log for the log file origs, mirrors, oraachs etc and for sapdatas /oracle/data etc OR it will put them in the SAP standard dir /oracle  etc
3.How do i start the patch install soon after the database install not using mopath but where u specify the path to /oracle /stage /10 what is the completecommand line as orasid?(when the installation stop and ask for the DB installation?
any ideas will be greatly appreciated

    Hi,
    Below are my answers,
--> Always prefereable to create the directories in advance with individual file systems. You have a specific SAP Note for this which will tell you how much sizes you need to keep for SAPDATA and log folders . So always create separate Mount points for individual directories which is a good practice for Unix based systems.
So in this case, Please create the file systems as follows /oracle/SID/102_64 --> For Oracle Home
                                                                                    /oracle/SID/sapdata 1-4 --> For SAPDATA folders
                                                                                    /oracle/SID/origlogA, /oracle/SID/origlogB,/oracle/SID/mirrlogA,/oracle/SID/mirrlogB
Then You can create a separate one for oracle/stage/102_64 or as per your wish.
Once your DB Instance Installation is done, You can define the full path of OPatch/MOPatch in the PATH Env Variable of ORASID so that no need to give it again. you can go to the folder/file where you saved your patch files and apply accordingly.
Hope I contributed my 2 cents.
    Thanks,
    Jagadish

  • Personal Oracle 7.3 -- 9i

    Hi,
I currently have an NT4 Workstation (SP3) running Personal Oracle 7.3.3
I want to upgrade this machine to Windows XP Pro or Windows 2000 Workstation.
    Questions:
    1. Does XP / W2K support Personal Oracle 7.3.3
    2. Will such an old version of Oracle actually install on XP / W2K
    3. What is the easiest way of upgrading my database from 7.3.3 to 9i, on the new platform.
    All help gratefully received.
    Thanks
    Ian

Oracle has a migration utility for simplifying the migration to Oracle9i, but the utility can only be used from specific Oracle versions. They are 7.3.4, 8.06, and 8.1.7. You cannot use the utility for migration from any other version. As a result, you will either have to upgrade to one of these versions first or develop your own migration process. Check out the following information about the migration utility:

  • Downgrade SQL Server 2008 Enterprise to SQL Server2008 Standard Edition

I would like to know from fourm users, what are the necessary steps I would take care for above mentioned activity and also please let me know best suitable option for Production.
    SNS

You can't do in-place downgrade. You need to go with backup -> uninstall ent -> install std -> bring it to same patch -> restore databases approach.
You need to make sure that there is not enterprise only feature used else you can't restore database on standard.

Balmukund's answer above is the Microsoft supported route for doing a downgrade of an instance of SQL Server.  However, before you do this, you need to query the sys.dm_db_persisted_sku_fearures DMV in each of your user databases to make certain that
you don't have any Enterprise features in use that would block your ability to restore a database onto Standard Edition.
No matter what you are going to have to do an uninstall and reinstall of the SQL Server instance to downgrade the SKU.  However, you can save yourself some time and the headache of trying to restore the system databases if you are careful about what
you do.  I have done a couple of SKU downgrades in the past and the easiest way to do it, and I am not saying this is the Microsoft supported way but that it works if done correctly, is to:
Take a good backup of all of your databases (system and user).
Run SELECT @@VERSION and note the specific build number of SQL Server that you are currently on.
Shut down your existing instance of SQL Server.
Copy the master, model, and msdb database files (both mdf and ldf), don't move them copy them, from the current location to a new folder that you mark as readonly.
Uninstall SQL Server from the system.
    Reboot the server.
    Install SQL Server Standard Edition.
Apply the necessary Service Pack and/or Cumulative Updates to bring the instance up to your previous build number.
    Shutdown SQL Server.
Copy the master, model, and msdb database files (both mdf and ldf) from the folder you saved them in to the correct location for the new install and remove the readonly flag from the files, and change the file ACL's so that the SQL Service account has Full
    Control over the files.
Startup SQL Server and if you did it correctly it will startup and be exactly where you were before you made any changes, with all of your user databaes online and you should be ready to let applications connect and resume operations.
If you screw something up in the above, you still have your backups and you can run setup to rebuild the system databases and then go about following the Microsoft supported path for restoring the system databases and then user databases into the system
to bring it online.  Essentially the file copy is no different that what would occur through attach/detach you are just doing it with system databases which is not supported, but it does work.  The key is to have your backups from before you do anything
so you have the supported route available if you encounter an issue.  The only issue I have ever had doing this set of steps is that I didn't set the file ACL's correctly and the database engine threw Access Denied errors and failed to start until I fixed
the ACL's correctly.  This can save you many hours of frustration and downtime trying to restore everything since the database files are already there and it is just some small copy operations to put them where you need them to be.
Balmukund, feel free to beat me over the head for suggesting a non-supported path. :-)

  • OBIEE 11g on linux

    HI all
I have downloaded the oracle 11g and obiee 11g version for Linux 86-64
Thinking that regardless of my Linux OS version I might be able to install on both 32 and 64 bit.
But as I got down downloading ubuntu there are only single flavours either 64 or 32 bit
I want to know if I download and install 64 bit version will the above oracle applications (86-64) work
If not what would be the easiest way to settle this.

If you are going to Linux with your Oracle BI install you might as well go with Oracle Unbreakable/Enterprise Linux.
This is also in-line with the RedHat kernel but it is actually certified to work. And you still are able to pull from the additional YUM repositories like RPMForge as well as the Oracle Unbreakable/Enterprise Linux repositories for Free.
You may wind up with small issues on CentOS even though it is a flavor of Red Hat. But, whatever you do, don't installl OBIEE on Ubuntu.

  • Creating Report layout template

I have created a report layout tempate in Oracle BI Word plug in using the xml downloaded from a report query. The template is fine and is dsplaying data the way I wanted in the preview.
Then I am trying to create a report layout in APEX under sharared components using this template file (RTF) . I specified the template name template file, But when I click the create button, shows no layout exists" and layout is not created.
I also tried , directly from report query to specify a report layout using this RTF , file, but the report just print in generic layout ignoring and not loading the custom rtf .
My database Oracle XE and I Upgraded the interface to APEX 3.1 recently.
I tried at apex.oracle.com and it is working fine
    Someone Please help
    George

The easiest way if you give your template the same name as the name of your report.
But if you are confused, the query is stored in the RDOC table, in column 'QString', so you can find out which layout is for which query.

The following link should be useful to determine system compatibility:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-enterprise-edition/bi-11gr1certmatrix-166168.xls
32-bit software runs in a x86_64 environment without a performance disadvantage provided you install the necessary 32-bit libraries, which could be challenging unless you are experienced or have appropriate installation documentation.

    Hello,
Oracle 10g XE is rather specific and, I'm not sure that you can upgrade it to 10.2.0.4 .
However, Oracle published an Upgrade Guide for Oracle Express Edition but, it's limited to *10.2.0.3*:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25329_01/doc/server.102/b32391/toc.htm
    But be careful:
Once you have upgraded to Oracle Database 10g, you cannot downgrade back to Oracle Database Express Edition.Hope this help.
