Oracle 10.2.0.4 on AIX 5.3 TL 11
Dear all,
present it is AIX 5.3 TL 06 and oracle 10.2.0.1
Database will be upgraded to 10.2.0.4 and AIX will be AIX 5.3 TL 11
So, does an upgrade require any patched/fixes to be installed.
Are there any know issues.
Some links or documents or metalink number would be enough
Thanks
SL
Please help yourself :
Go to https://support.oracle.com
Click on Signin
Enter your username and password
Once you're connected, click on "Paches & Updates" (kind of tab on the top of the page)
Then on the left (Patching Quick link region), under "Oracle Server/Tool", click on "Latest patchsets"
In the new tab/windows opened, drag your mouse on "Oracle Database", then on "IBM AIX on POWER system (64bit)" and eventually click on the patchset you're looking for.
You'll be then able to read the readme doc and download the patchset.

Oracle 12c ASM Disk Problem on AIX
Hi All,
We need to install 12.1.0.2 DB with ASM option on AIX 7.1. When we start to install 12.1.0.2 grid installation, in the 3.step we could not show adding Candidate disks to ASM. Disks right are 660 and oracle:oinstall ownership.
When we start to install 11gR2 installation on same platform we can see the Candidate Disk, and We can install 11gR2 ASM+DB on same platform. But for 12.1.0.2 is not.
How can we add Candidate Disks to 12c ASM İnstallation for below step ? The disks which is not shown for this step are like below. After first error I have changed disks' ownership like oracle:asmadmin, it isn't solved. I need urgent help.Hi Sve,
Thanks for replying me. What you have written are tried but not works. I have solved problem.
The problem is related AIX platform. I have Solved problem with below steps.
1- I have installed grid infrastructure with Software Only option.
2- After install Software Only Standalone Grid, I have tried to install manually ASM instance. But I have taken this error. rtld: 0712-001 Symbol CreateIoCompletionPort was referenced and it is solved with this MOSC ID: Doc ID1949184.1)
3- After Successfull 2.step you can now install ASM manually from asmca. -
Trying to install Oracle 11.5.10.2 on AIX - first steps
Hi.
Oracle 9.2.0.5.0. AIX
I have created the necessary directories on our development machine, and each of them contains the contents of each of the 8 DVDs from the software bundle I have been given.
Im not sure of the next step. I have this metalink document, Note:316803.1, but its less than specific.
I also see this thread here on the forums, 11.5.10.2 Rapid Install fails - Invalid Disk talking of a Stage Area. Again, Im not sure if such a Stage Area is needed.Actually, just reading another thread here, looks like as I have copied each disk into its own directory there is no need to create a stage area ...
As I understand, I should go to the first Disk 1 Start Here, but after this Im unsure. (run rapid install - how?)
This is not an upgrade but a clean installation.
Thanks (for any metalink links or any other sources)
Im just checking this out : http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25516_14/current/acrobat/r115102ins.pdf might be of some help I hope.

ORACLE XML PARSER FOR JAVA FOR AIX
Hi people!
I'm looking for the Oracle XML Parser for Java 9.0.2.0.0C, my 9iAS is BI Installation 9.0.2.3, where can I get it? In the Downloads Section there is only the version for 10g, and the existing versions for 9i are not for AIX (my OS is AIX 5.2L).
Thanks.Thanks for your help, I navigate through this link and, even it shows a table where appears the release for AIX (9.2.0.6.0), when I get to http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/xml/xdk/software/prod/utilsoft_java.htm
it shows me only downloads for Sun, Linux and HP-UX, but not for AIX.
Has the version for AIX being deprecated or something like that? -

Oracle 9i Rel 2 Installation on AIX---JDK Directory
Oracle 9i on AIX 5.3

Maran Viswarayarslibclean is very AIX specific, non-direct related to Oracle software.
Common error of the AIX beginners.
But as far as I remember, when you launch the installer, a message must advise you to run this command, and you should confirm (press 'enter' key) once it's done.
the reason i missed out step in the README.txt Common errors of beginners ;-) Even if you think you are experienced guy, you should read the doc as well, just to be sure do not forget any steps.
Case sensitive... one of the most common error of the Unix beginners.
Moreover ,take care do not start one instance in upper, one other in lower case.
One more thing : don't take it wrong, but if you have no specific question and want to share your experience, you should blog instead of post in the forum.

PeopleSoft Oracle Document Techonology disabled if using AIX?
Does anyone have experience using the new Documents Technology_ in Peoplesoft while running AIX on the application and database side_? Looking through the delivered code for Consume Web Service component for instance I'm running across code specifically for disabling the build document messages check box for any system using AIX. Which makes me think that this is not ready for use with AIX.
IB_WSDL_IMP_LOC.Activate(Page PeopleCode)
/* Check for the platform — disable compound and collection creation for AIX_ */
If (%IntBroker.IsAIX()) Then
PSWSDIMPLOC_WRK.IB_CREATE_DOC_FLG.Enabled = False;
PSWSDIMPLOC_WRK.IB_CREATE_DOC_FLG.Value = "N";
End-If;
Also the DOCUMENT BUILDER component has the compound/collection elements similarly disabled too (surprise surprise!); so I can only create simple layouts.
I am still able to create documents that contain compound/collection elements but I have to manually create the schema and feed it to the Create Document from Schema which is a pain b/c it's buggy as hell and will only read the most stripped down schema, so that's one way I have found to work around it.ram,
I am going to do the similar upgrade with replatform at the same time. I collect the information from forum and finally get an indicator to how to do it. You need to read the "Upgrading the Oracle Applications", B19297-01
"Installing Oracle Applications" B19296-01 and
"Maintenance Utilities" B19300-01
The documentation mentioned the way for upgrade an 11.0 version of EBS to latest release including some pre-upgrade tasks including the database version upgrade to work with 11i, etc.
Hope this help.
