Oracle 10 express XE cannot find proc.exe

Hi,
I am working for a small software-company. A prospective customer of us asked for an oracle-version of our data-migration-tool. The database interface of the tool is iplemented using dynmaic embedded sql (whichis kind of a standard). To get a feeling of how difficult the adaption/extension of the tool would be, I downloaded and installed the free oracle 10g express (XE) package on my WinXp-Box.
But now, the promblem begins. I cannot find the file proc.exe which contains the embedded sql precompiler. Do I need another package (which might not be free) ??
I searched in forums and in google and the only hint i found was, to install client-software. So I tried "Oracle Database 10g Express Client" but with no luck.
This is really a surprise to me, since I thoght, the free oracle express-edition is meant for software-development.
I really appreciate any help!!
many thanks in advance

PRO*C is not included in Oracle XE according to this Re: PROC*C with OracleExpress Edition.

• Cannot find java.exe when executing Sun Java Enterprise 8.1

I downloaded and installed Sun Java Enterprise 8.1 (actually because I kept getting not enough space messages I downloaded it in 3 parts). When attempting to execute by clicking on the icon I keep getting a message saying "cannot find java.exe". I previously installed the java runtime successfully. Is anyone familiar with this and if so how do I get around it. I am running Win2k SP4 on a laptop. Thank you for any insight you can provide.

Hi,
I faced same problem. I had jdk 1.5.0_05 installed on C: drive directly. But When I check the log though the installation found the version it was assuming it to be at 'C:\Program Files\Java' so even after finding the installed JDK it was failing. When I copied the JDK at 'C:\Program Files\Java' and then uninstalled and reinstalled the Sun java studio 8 again, at this time it asked me about which JDK to use! Then there I could point to C:\jdk1.5.0_05. Then everything went through fine. I guess this is some problem in installation code. Try this out.

• Cannot find javac.exe in j2se 1.5.0 jdk

hi
i have been installing and reinstalling JDK 5.0, yes it is jdk not jre...
and i cannot find javac.exe
does anyone has any solution?
thanks in advance.

Oh, and btw, you should uninstall everything (J2EE, J2RE/jre, Forte/S1S, and Webstart) - Then install J2SE, followed by J2EE, then S1S.
Don't install J2RE as a separate install - the J2SE install will also install it and Webstart.

• Cannot find SCANPST.EXE anywhere on my Computer

Hi,
I have two computers one running Windows 7 Ultimate, the other running Windows 8.1 Pro. I have Office Professional Plus 2013 installed on both. On both compters I an unable to locate the SCANPST.EXE file. I can find the DLL files in the expected
folder locations but not the .EXE. Re-installing Office made no difference. My search includes hidden files, system files and exe's to no avail.
Please help !
Thanks.

Hi,
Scanpst.exe is installed when you install Outlook. The default location of the tool is:
C:\Program Files|Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office1
If you cannot find the Scanpst.exe file by using Search, check the following locations for the file. Where the file is located depends on which version of Windows that you are running:
<var>disk drive</var>:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICEnn
where nn is 10 for Office XP, 11 for Office 2003,
12 for the 2007 Office system, and 15 for Office 2013
<var>disk drive</var>:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\
<var>disk drive</var>:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\NT
<var>disk drive</var>:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033
<var>disk drive</var>:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office\Officenn
where nn is 10 for Office XP, 11 for Office 2003,

<var>disk drive</var>:\Program Files(x86)\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\

• Windows cannot find AcroTray.exe

Hi,
I'm using adobe acrobat pro 9 and started getting an error message everytime I attempt to create a pdf file using ms office whether it be in word, excel, or even in ms project
The error message is:
Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat10.0\Acrobat\AcroTray.exe'
Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again.
This just started to happen last week after using acrobat pro for the last two years with no problems.
I am using windows 7 home edition.
Any suggestions on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated as I've had no success
Garry

I would run Help>Repair. Then do the updates to AA9 also. That may repair the problem. As suggested, it looks like the AA X trial was installed and then removed. One of the problems of removing a version of Acrobat is that it often breaks the remaining versions. Hopefully, a repair will do the job.
However, you should be able to find AcroTray in the AA 9 folder also. Check the startup folder to be sure that is the version that is being called. AcroTray should be running in the background to enable PDF creation.

• Oracle Express 10g - cannot install on Windows 2003

I'm trying to install Oracle Express 10g on Windows 2003. On this machine already works MS SQL2005 server.
The installation starts ok but after copying files installer disappears whitout any message (in that moment an icon on desktop should be created, but it's not) All files copied first by installer are deleted upon it finishes it's work. From the same package I installed Express on Windows XP and then there was everything ok.
I checked install log but it didn't tell me much. It looks more or less the same as the log file from succesful installation until bolded line:
MSI (s) (30:A4) [15:02:44:281]: User policy value 'DisableRollback' is 0
MSI (s) (30:A4) [15:02:44:281]: Machine policy value 'DisableRollback' is 0
Action ended 15:02:44: InstallFinalize. Return value 2.
On successful installation the return value is 1. But it doesn't tell me anything. Also in event logs I got only mssinstaller information (event 11708)
Product: Oracle Database 10g Express Edition -- Installation operation failed.
Do anyone experienced such problem?

• Cannot find native2ascii.exe (JDK 1.5.0_05 on Windows)

Hi,
I am sorry if this is not the right forum for this issue, but I have a small problem:
I recently installed JDK 1.5 on my Windows XP box, and I need to use the native2ascii tool. For JDK 1.3 and 1.4, I have found this tool in the bin/ folder of the jdk installation. However, I cannot find the native2ascii tool in my JDK 1.5 installation, even though it is described in the documentation...
Any ideas?
Should I try re-installing the 1.5 JDK?

Never mind, I reinstalled as soon as I got the chance, and there it is, in the bin directory...

• Cannot find photoshop.exe for my previous cs6 after installing CC

I owned CS6 before I subscribed to CC. I cannot run my 64 bit cs6 non cc version as the exe file is no longer there. The 32 bit version has the photoshop.exe file, but not the file for the 64 bit version. Yes, I am looking in the right places.
Cc runs fine.
Apparently Cc overwrote something or? How do I run my non cc cs6 without the photoshop exe.? I have looked everywhere in the folders.There is a cs6 folder I have treid the search function and there is no 64 bit cs6.
Also, since I cannot get into it, and I did nothing, I cannot deactive it in order to reinstall it. Or can I not reinstall it without damagng cc? How can I run both?

check it on application folder

• Oracle 11 + unixODBC - cannot find valid attributes for odbc.ini

hello.
i am trying to write asterisk's cdr into Oracle Database 11g Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production.
sqlplus and isql works fine, but when * writes cdr, it gives an error.
i've enabled odbc tracing and have received that:
/var/log/odbc.log
[ODBC][17917][SQLExecDirect.c][236]
Entry:
Statement = 0x46fb0d0
SQL = [INSERT INTO intercdr (calldate,clid,src,dst,dcontext,channel,dstchannel,lastapp,lastdata,duration,billsec,disposition,amaflags,a...][length = 224 (SQL_NTS)]
[ODBC][17917][SQLExecDirect.c][499]
Exit:[SQL_ERROR]
DIAG [HYC00] [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]Optional feature not implemented.
here http://www.easysoft.com/developer/interfaces/odbc/sqlstate_status_return_codes.html
i've found, what does it mean:
SQLExecDirect, SQLExecute
The combination of the current settings of the SQL_ATTR_CONCURRENCY and SQL_ATTR_CURSOR_TYPE statement attributes was not supported by the driver or data source.
The SQL_ATTR_USE_BOOKMARKS statement attribute was set to SQL_UB_VARIABLE, and the SQL_ATTR_CURSOR_TYPE statement attribute was set to a cursor type for which the driver does not support bookmarks.
i understand, that i must set some attributes in odbc.ini, but i don't know, which attributes are necessary to change.
now my odbc.ini looks so:
[o5]
Driver = ora10odbc
DSN = ora5
ServerName = //newora/ORA5
UserID = asterisk
Password = asterisk
I have many works with pg, but no expirience with oracle.
Please, can you help me or give me a point of search?
hope very much for your help!
thanks in advance.

I don't know the internals of ODBC, but I'm having this problem only with the Microsoft driver. I neither had it with PostgreSQL, SQL Anywhere or FreeTDS.
The unixODBC documentation is not very well maintained or consistent. Once it's written that data sources are read from ODBCINI + /.odbc.ini, at another part it says ODBCINI itself must by a full path to a file. http://www.unixodbc.org/internals.html doesn't
give much more details. And actually, having a full path in ODBCINI does work (as soon as this file is writable), whereas specifying only the directory does not.
It seems drivers are doing part of the job on its own and therefor they behave differently?

• Cannot find row from context to build the RowKey

I have a table with 8 attributes!
6 attributes are varchar2(20), so the input is just in textfields, the other 2 are booleans varchar2(1)!
To select the boolean I made 2 comboboxes with the displayvalues Yes/No and datavalues Y/N!
When I change 1 of the 6 attributes with the textfield, everything goes fine, but when I want to edit 1 of the 2 boolean attributes I get the following error:
oracle.jbo.JboException: Cannot find row from context to build the RowKey
The strangest thing is that all the settings from the attributes are the same and also the code in the dataeditcomponent.
Does anyone knows what the error means and especially how to solve it!?
If I change a boolean value the change is saved, but the error comes before you can see the changes!

Hi Steve,
thanks for your help.
These are my steps to build the application:
0.) JDev 904, WindowsXP, IE6.x, FireBird 0.7
1.) New Project and Wizard 'New Business Components Package',
only DeptImpl, default VO and default AppModule
2.) New Project, Wizard 'Complete Struts-Based JSP Application'
only default settings
3.) Customize config of AppModule: Referenced Pool Size = 1
4.) Start application, connect with two different browsers (IE and firebird)
5.) Browse page DeptView1_Browse with both browsers
1. Browser: Link Edit --> edit&update attribute Loc of Dept 10 (no commit)
2. Browser: Link Edit --> edit (no update) attribute Loc of Dept 20
6.) 2. Browser: update ==> Error Message: Cannot find row from context to build the RowKey
I have also tested JDev 9034/9033 with no error :-)
I have build the same application in JDev 10g with ADF (no migration from other projects)
and ran into another error message (same steps as above):
JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException, msg=null
I don't know if my ADF-Struts project is assembled correctly but it works with just one session.
My intention to set Referenced Pool Size = 1 was to test my code against some session releated bugs.
I wanted to associate user information like name, role and PK with the SessionCookie instance (during login), via
SessionCookie.setUserData(myInfos). The Information is used in VOs to get only the user related data
and in EOs to store the real user name in an attribute like modifiedby/createdby
(I use Tomcats as deployment platform):
getApplicationModule().getSession().getUserData() -or-
getDBTransaction().getSession().getUserData()
Is there a better way to link own data to a 'session' on the level of business components?
Can you reproduce my results?
Ciao Markus

Found one article saying you can get this if previous version not fully removed, and to do a repair of the previous version, but as I said I uninstalled it and followed all steps for cleanup, so nothing to repair.

Here is the ERRORLOG file from C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10_50.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log. At the bottom I am seeing the error you said before was a SAN issue. I had hoped that issue was only with
SQL 2012, but it appears it is even with 2008?
If that is still the issue, I'm trying to understand if by the articles, if the SAN conflict is an OS issue or an SQL issue? In other words, is it because the OS is Server 2012? Or would this still occur if I install SQL
2008 on Server 2008 R2? I don't know that they will be willing to upgrade the SAN, and I don't really want to fool with a .VHD (virtual disk) as a workaround speaks of.
If you're asking if I did this from your article: select startup account for Database Engine services as NT Authority\SYSTEM
, I don't recall what I did this last time. I was doing that the last few days, but I think I didn't switch it to that once, just to see if I would have success. I don't know if that was this last time or not when I switched it.
Is there anywhere I can check that after the fact?

• URGENT: Cannot Find DBCA on Red Hat's Oracle installation

I desperately need to find the DBCA (class / executable) or, better yeat is to introduce you to my need:
We need to run RMAN to BackUp And Restore a DataBase.
The RMAN Works with or is better used through the use of the “Enterprise Manager Console”, which needs to connect to an OMS (Oracle Management Server), the OMS is configured by the EMCA executable, and the EMCA Works find until it needs to use the DBCA, which cannot find, and I cannot find it anyware.
Please help us out, should I try to create the tablespaces my self? (don’t think so, I’m kind of green when it comes to DBA tasks, but I am trying to help out. (through otn)

0) I was surprised to see that you answer me, you have allway gave me EXCELENT answers and very courteously.
1) The URGENT: was intended to express the necesity of the TOPIC not of the actual situation, I am certain that would it come to that (calling oracle support) my superiors would have call.
2) When I wrote "which cannot find, and I cannot find it anyware." It means a Search throughout the Hard Drives of the machine. and could not find it (DBCA.class, DBCA.bin, DBCA.*, etcetara). I might/most likely are mistaken, nevertheless that was the intetion of my topic.
3) I manage through a workarround that is Creating the OMS Repository TABLESPACES myself.
Thanks for your answers, and don't mistake this reply as being rude or anything like it. I have but the most gratitud towards all the help that you have provided me in other ocations.
Thanks again for all,
Frank
