Oracle 10g - 10.2.0.4  installation hang at 85%

Hi,
I am installing Oracle 10g(10.2.0.4) on win2008 standard edition - 64 bit. The installation is fine, until it reached the database configuration assistant. Its like at the database creation
85%, its just stuck there. Then message pops up saying :
Enterprise Manager Configuration failed : error starting Database Control .Refer to log file d:\oracle\.....emConfig.log.
You can retry the configuration later by manually running d:\oracle...emca script.
Here is the emconfig .log file. I just copied the section that i think i relevant.

I have read the other treads and change the host file , set oracle_home, oracle_sid, oracle_hostname.
Nothing seems to work, the database control just cannot seem to start. My ip address is static.
Help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi ,
Thanks for you earlier reply, but could you re-post the link, I cannot see it, tq.It's referring to a MetaLink (My Oracle Support) document. You have to have a paid support contract to access it. If you don't have a MOS account of your own, don't ask someone else to give you the document, as that would be a violation of their terms of usage.

  • Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1) installation error

    Hi everyone !!! I know that Oracle doesn't support FreeBSD but I'm my problem is probably stopping a decision of choosing Oracle as a project database. This means licenses guys!!!!! Can you please just guide me for a solution to my problem?
    I need to test Oracle 10g in FreeBSD. I've installed FreeBSD 7 from the ISOs in Freebsd homepage with full base system and full packages. I've then activated the linux_base-fc4 linux emulation port and compile a new kernel version for Oracle with:
    options COMPAT_LINUX
    options SEMMAP=128
    options SEMMNI=128
    options SEMMNS=32000
    options SEMOPM=100
    options SEMMSL=250
    options SHMMAXPGS=262144
    options SHMMNI=4096
    options SHMSEG=4096
    options MAXDSIZ="(1024*1024*1024)"
    options MAXSSIZ="(1024*1024*1024)"
    options DFLDSIZ="(1024*1024*1024)"
    I've then created an Oracle account with the /compat/linux/bin/bash sheel for linux compatability. I unzip the 10201_..... oracle zip for linux and run the installer from within oracle account.
    I've manage to solve a lot of problems but with this one I'm stucked!!! At 62% I receive a message box saying "Error invoking target 'relink' of makefile ins_precomp.mk". I go to the make.log and I see:
    /usr/bin/make -f ins_precomp.mk relink ORACLE_HOME=/home/oracle/10gR2 EXENAME=proc/Linking /home/oracle/10gR2/precomp/lib/proc

    I can't find out what is missing. Can you give me an idea?

    Hi everyone !!! I know that Oracle doesn't support FreeBSD but I'm my problem is probably stopping a decision of choosing Oracle as a project database. This means licenses guys!!!!! Can you please just guide me for a solution to my problem?
    Since you are calling the 'Licenses guys' I assume you have a valid Oracle License for your project. Don't expect Oracle support services to monitor this forum, everyone here are regular oracle users and we are not in any way related with Oracle Support.
    If you have a valid Oracle CSI you should raise a SR in Metalink. And since you already know FreeBSD is not a supported platform, then there are no surprises, you know where the problem is. It may work after some workarounds, but you are on your own and dessuported. The only free linux supported by Oracle is OEL, and if you are planning to use Oracle it means you should change the OS.

  • Oracle 10g RAC on solaris 10 installation

    hi
    i want to know the default file location of following:
    oracle base
    oracle home
    control files
    redo log files
    data files
    plz tell me exactly the default path for all the above

    I'm assuming you mean running RAC with or without Sun Cluster? If so, the answer is that there would almost no difference in most cases. The only case I can think of would be if you had a sub-optimal interconnect without Sun Cluster where Sun Cluster's clprivnet would have given you striping and availability for free.
    I am currently working on a Blueprint that describes the important differences between the two configurations (with and without SC). They can broadly be summarised as:
    Sun Cluster gives you:
    * Better data integrity protection
    * Faster, more reliable node failure detection
    * Makes your name space homogeneous, simplifying installation and device management (DID structure), so no need for messy symbolic links
    * Gives you a highly available, striped cluster interconnect for the Cache Fusion traffic. (No need for tricky IPMP or link aggregation configurations.)
    * Allows you to use volume managers link Solaris Volume Manager or VxVM
    * Provides support for shared QFS as a file system for all Oracle objects, data includes (while still allowing ASM)
    * A substantial collection of Sun written and supported agents to manage other applications you might also have on your cluster, e.g. NFS, SAP, Apache, etc, etc.
    Hope that helps,
    Tim

  • Oracle 10G - Standard Edition; universal installer hangs at 40%

    Hi,
    I'm installing (or trying to) 10G on FC3 and the installer hangs at 40%. During the pre-install checks, the installer threw up only one warning (that the amount of swap was less than the amount of physical memory installed, but given that the installer isn't even managing to fill up the 4GB of physical RAM, I thought that'd be fine).
    There are no errors evident in the install log, it just hangs indefinitely after these lines:-

    so I think it isn't a memory problem.
    And there is a good 2GB disk still free on the partition that the binaries are going on to.
    Any ideas anyone?

  • Problems to initiate oracle 10g express edition

    Good afternoon I am speaking of Brazil with a text translator.
    But I have installed Hundreds and I am trying to install oracle 10g express edition release 2.
    I am with a problem in the Oracle 10g Express Edition in the installation part when I vo to initiate the service, it does not initiate.
    And when I give I command /etc/init.d/oracle-xe status appears the following message: Your default context is user_u: system_r: unconfined_t. Of it you want you choose different one? [n]
    I do not know more what to make to decide this.
    I thank the attention.

    Oracle XE has it's own forum - to register and discuss XE problems with XE experts use URL http://www.oracle.com/technology/xe/registration
    Once you have registered, you sign in to the forums and the link to the XE forum is there. But you do have to sign in as the user who registered XE.
    You will also need to provide a few more pieces of information:
    1) actual distro and version of Linux
    2) userid used to install XE (should be root)
    3) userid used to run "/etc/init.d/oracle-xe start" (should be root)

  • Difference between Oracle 10g 64 bit /Oracle 10g 32 Bit Windows

    Hi all
    We are using 10g Oracle 32 Bit windows as well as Oracle 10g 64 Windows at some installations.
    Now we tested these two systems in our office for Testing purpose on two similar machines i.e
    Intel i3 with 4 GB RAM. Database size approx 4GB
    We had the feeling that :-
    a) Oracle datafile Filesize limitation may be there in 32 Bit system but we saw that physically around 3.5 GB datafile size
    is created in 32 Bit windows also
    b) Data Fetching Speed -.We thought that data fetching speed would be higher in 64 Bit machine. But we proved to
    be wrong. Our sample data had approx 7 Millions records (based on Client Live data for 3 years) total in around 20 transaction tables. Further there were other additional 100-150 tables but very smaller ones just master tables
    We used the same client end machine and same Front end and same queries on both servers. To our surpriise - We got the almost similar results in terms of data fetching time in both the 32 Bit as well as 64 Bit windows with similar Oracle 10g 32 bit and Oracle 64 Bit respectively
    Further we find that Anti Virus Programme which may be any say Symatentic or other - troubles much more in Windows 64 Bit environment as compared to Windows 32 Bit environment from settings point of view.
    Kindly advise as to
    a) Whether our above observations are correct
    b) Now under what situations should we use Oracle 10g 64 Windows as compared to Oracle 10g 32 Bit windows

    Please help me.
    Thank you.

    Hi Priya,
    I guess you are using other OC4J (the command is from a JDeveloper10g folder). When you install the MapViewer kit, there is a OC4J directory there. Try to use this OC4J.

  • Can't install oracle 10g on solaris v10 X86!!!

    Hi everybody, I got error messages below:
    ====================================================
    $ ./runInstaller
    Starting Oracle Universal Installer...
    Checking installer requirements...
    Checking operating system version: must be 5.6, 5.7, 5.8 or 5.9. Actual 5.10
    Failed <<<<
    =====================================================
    Does that mean there is not Oracle 10g for Solairs 10 X86?
    Where can I find Oracle 9i for Solairs x86?
    Thanks advance!

    10g on Solaris 10 needs special handling:
    1. Execute runInstaller with the -ignoreSysPrereqs option.
    2. Select 'Do not create a starter database' when installing Oracle 10g.
    3. During installation, the warning message 'SUNWsprox package not installed' can be ignored. Press Continue to resume the installation.
    4. Download and install patch 4186426 from metalink.oracle.com after installing Oracle 10g software.
    5. If you have an End User Solaris 10 distribution, install the SUNWuiu8 package prior to installing the 10g client.

  • Oracle 10g on red hat linux enterprise 4

    Please
    Is REH enterprise 4 is perfect for installing oracle 10g or are there any installation issues. please guide me any one

    Hi everyone
    Even though I'm an Oracle ACE I'm not an ACE in the Linux operating system.
    I am getting a new laptop that has 4 GB RAM and a server that has a quad-core with 4 GB RAM and SCSI drives. Both of these are using the Windows operating system, the laptop using WIndows XP and the server using 2003 Server.
    I have been advised to use VM Ware to install Linux and then install my Oracle database and / or application server.
    Has anyone done this and would you be willing to give me some pointers?
    I also noticed in this thread that someone is not recommending the use of Linux 5 from Oracle but rather use version 4, update 5. Would you be willing to let me have the low down on this?
    If anyone has any white papers or word documents that show how to install Linux 4.5 on VM Ware I would be most grateful. My email address is: [email protected]

  • Oracle 10g R2 installation on sun solaris 10 Sparc machine

    Hi there,
    I encountered the following problem during oracle 10g R2 installation on sun solaris 10 Sparc machine
    Error encountered:
    Using paramFile: /u01/Oracle/10gr2_db_sol/install/oraparam.ini

    Some requirement checks failed. You must fulfill these requirements before
    continuing with the installation,at which time they will be rechecked.

    The following were the steps taken before encountering the above error
    1. logged into a workstation
    2. From its xterm terminal I logged to the oracle server via ssh oracle@ip
    3. keyed in the following at the command prompt
    DISPLAY=machine_name:0.0; export DISPLAY
    4. executed the following from the command prompt
    ./runInstaller
    Note: when executing the ./runInstaller, the preinstallation checking just hangs at Checking monitor: must be configured to display at least 256 colors. But the log file shows it failed during preinstallation checking as shown in Error encountered
    Please help me with this problem.
    Thank you
    Ravindran Kanniah

    It is because of UNIX shell. I also faced this error during installation.
    First check your shell by the following command.
    $ echo $SHELL
    Then select the below.
    For csh shell
    $ setenv DISPLAY 192.168.1.128:0.0
    $ export DISPLAY
    For sh,ksh and bash
    $ DISPLAY=192.168.1.128:0.0
    $ export DISPLAY
    After you do this check the value of DISPLAY variable.
    $ echo $DISPLAY
    If the DISPLAY variable is set then run ./runInstaller.
    One advice: Keep a complete log of your terminal session. This will help you in future :)
