Oracle 10g administrator guide??

Plissss, somebody knows where can I find an OracleAS 10g administrator, configurator and tunning guide??? (also with High availability options).
It seems to be hidden because in several sites refer to it but always de links return 404 - Error....
Also would be great an quick and basic application deployment guide I have found some references but they seems to refer using oracle developer products. I would need a guide to tell me were I should deploy just an ear generted with any standard tool....
Thanks in advance and regards

  • Oracle 10g Administration workshop I course

I am wondering if anyone has studied Oracle 10g Administration workshop I course via self study?
My company is willing to sponsor me for Oracle Database Administration courses. I have a got a option to attend the Oracle hand on training courses or go for Oracle self study courses.
I have done OCA PL/SQL (9i) Certification in the past and at the moment I am not thinking about doing any DBA level certification.
(Administration workshop I & II (instructor lead) course is one of the OCP certification requirement)
What are the pros and cons of Self Study course and how is that different to instructor lead course?
Is there any duration limit on self study course?
Should i go for 10g course or 11g? We mostly use 10g.

There are a few things available from Oracle, some of which are eligible as training requirement for DBA Certification:
    - Traditional Oracle Classroom - Eligible for satsifisfying the training requirement
    - Oracle Classroom presented online in real time (LVC) - Eligible for satsifisfying the training requirement ( Quite new ... about 2 years)
    - Oracle Self Study CD ROM - This does NOT satisfy the training requirement. (SSCDs do not count towards your course requirements for certification and should be used as a study aid only.)
    - Training on Demand (This is a new training format. The course must be listed in the list of approved courses http://bit.ly/wyajDv.)
    Ref: {message:id=10215249}
My personal view would be to go for 11g. It generally suspersets 10g and gets you more future orientated. But that might not be the best decision for everyone. It is also useful to have 11g training which can be used against 10g or 11g DBA certification.

    Hi,
Thanks for responding . I am sending the file contents of ejb-jar.xml, orion-ejb-jar.xml, jms.xml.
Could you also check whether dtds versions of 10g and 9i in these xmls are conflicting? If you can specify your email-id i can send these file as attachments.
Hope you could strike the right spot.

  • Oracle 10g - Chinese Charecter issue

    Hi All
I have the following scenario and I need your valuable inputs solve my problem
I am using Oracle 10g version and I have a database created and it contains around 9 tables and 25k records, as per my current requirement I need to add few more columns in the existing tables and those new columns are going to be filled with contents from multiple languages (as of now Chinese and English). I went through Oracle 10g globalization guide and I understood that, for my requirements I need to add new columns with data types of either NVARCHAR or NCHAR.
I created the following table and tried to insert some Chinese characters as follows but it’s not coming as expected and I’m getting inserted only ‘????’ in my table columns
Please find below the list of my actions from SQL Developer
    create table Employee(EmpId varchar(255), EmpName NCHAR(255));
    insert into Employee(EmpId, EmpName) values('280129','彭俊睦');
    select * from Employee;280129 ¿¿¿
    insert into Employee(EmpId, EmpName) values('28018',N'彭俊睦');
    select * from Employee;280129 ¿¿¿
    28018 ¿¿¿
When I run the “select * from v$nls_parameters;” query I’m getting the following data
    NLS_LANGUAGE --------- SIMPLIFIED CHINESE
    NLS_TERRITORY--------- AMERICA
    NLS_CURRENCY--------- $
    NLS_ISO_CURRENCY--------- AMERICA
    NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTERS--------- .,
    NLS_CALENDAR--------- GREGORIAN
    NLS_DATE_FORMAT--------- DD-MON-RR
    NLS_DATE_LANGUAGE--------- SIMPLIFIED CHINESE
    NLS_CHARACTERSET--------- WE8ISO8859P1
    NLS_SORT--------- BINARY
    NLS_TIME_FORMAT--------- HH.MI.SSXFF AM
    NLS_TIMESTAMP_FORMAT--------- DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM
    NLS_TIME_TZ_FORMAT--------- HH.MI.SSXFF AM TZR
    NLS_TIMESTAMP_TZ_FORMAT --------- DD-MON-RR HH.MI.SSXFF AM TZR
    NLS_DUAL_CURRENCY--------- $
    NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET--------- AL16UTF16
    NLS_COMP--------- BINARY
    NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS--------- BYTE
    NLS_NCHAR_CONV_EXCP--------- FALSE
Please let me know what I’m doing wrong, and help me to solve this problem.
    Waiting for your update
    Thanks

    Dear ,
The problem is with your SQL>
You can not use the unicode characters in the sql * plus ad the sql * plus is not able to identify them
you need to do is as follow:
    you can use a high ide for the input and output which supports the unicode system for the chacaters input;
as in the sql * plus if you are typing the chinese characters then sql*plus environment which is taking only the
256 characters could not understand the given characters and hence ? is inserted as default exceptions for not recognising any characters....
So use the graphical user interface to enter the data and extract the data..
You can even take the html forms to enter the data for unicode character sets and any others developer
forms using richtext box for the input...
Even you can take the MS Access forms to enter the data in unicode supports and link the tables with oracle...
If still problem then come back
    Best of luck

  • Apply 5699495 w/ Silent installation Oracle 10g client

    Good Afternoon,
I have my silent installation of Oracle 10g Administrator Installation working great w/ response file, now I am having an issue with integrating this patch (5699495) into the initial install. I read the README file but it says to just drop the files in the appropriate folder, I want to do it during the install with no user interaction
Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'd suggest creating a batch file to do the unzip and copy operations.
In the batch file you can call the install first and then do the patch. This way anyone who needs to do the install can just double-click the batch file.
We do a similar thing with an install and then creating a TNS_ADMIN area outside the ORACLE_HOME

Oracle prescribes their own training! However one assumes they have some endorsement of Oracle Press Book (ISBN-13: 978-0072257908). (Oracle Database 10g OCP Certification All-In-One Exam Guide (Osborne Oracle Press Series) (Paperback)). Remember the topics have changed slightly since this was printed. There is a Sybex book as well, searching this forum will find it (if you cant find it question yourself if you should be studying for exam), or a reputablable online seller eg amazon.

  • Oracle Database 10g: Administration Workshop I Part 1 CD

On the first learning CD for Database 10g Administration, there is an incorrectly displayed question.
Oracle Database 10g Workshop -> Installing an Oracle Database -> Installation Using OUI -> Page 21
Question is: To Locally manage the databases stored on one or multiple computers, you select:
    A. the Configure the Database with Enterprise Manager check box on the Management Options page.
    B. etc.
    C. etc.
    D. the Raw Devices option button on the Store Options page.
When the correct answer (A) is selected, the dialogue displayed states:
'That is incorrect. The Raw Devices option is used to manage the storage devices outside the OS file system. Try again'
As if D was selected instead of A. If D is selected, the message is:
That is correct. The Configure the Database with Enterprise Manager option enables you to locally manage the databases stored in one or multiple computers.
It seems as though the links next to question A and D are flipped.

    Hello,
I have used it and couple of others workshop in CD format and it is worth buying. Make sure you have a database setup where you can play all the excercise available in workshop. Beside that I have also attended instructer led training, though self-study course material pretty much same but you can't replace an experienced instructor and his insights. I recommend if you can at least one instrcuter led training beside your self-study course it will be really helpful to you.

But of cause if you want to learn more DBA stuff then the OCA DBA is a good thing to prepare with.
For both certifications you need to pass two exams. The first is an SQL exam which is identical for both OCAs. The second one is a PL/SQL exam for the OCA Developer and an Adminsitartion exam for the OCA DBA.

  • Information on Oracle Database 10g Administrator

    Hi,
I have recently written OCA PL/SQL Developer exams (1Z0-007 and 1Z0-147) and cleared both the exams successfully.
Now i wan to focus on DBA side, so i am planning to write Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Associate exams.
After going through oraclle univeristy site for exam codes, i found that i need to clear 1Z0-007(ifi opt for it) in level-1.
Since ive already given 1Z0-007 for PL/SQL Developer, so do i need to give the exam once again for Oracle Database 10g Administrator???
    Thanks in advance.

Since ive already given 1Z0-007 for PL/SQL Developer, so do i need to give the exam once again for Oracle Database 10g Administrator???No. The one pass if good for both OCA tracks, so you only now need to pass 1z0-042 for your DBA OCA as you already have a 1z0-007 pass.
(You would not be able to take it twice if you wanted too, as a successfully passed exam may not be retaken).
