  • MS Visual Studio 2005 + Oracle 10g = Cannot connect to ODBC error: 12154

    Hi there!
I've read so many threads of same kind of problems but always some key elements seems to be missing so I cannot solve my problem with the solutions in those threads. So, I'll do my own.
    Our environment is...
We have Oracle 8 database with all the data that we have. Now we have our new server, SQL Server 2005 installed and I am trying to transfer data from Oracle to SQL using MS Visual Studio 2005 using available ODBC drivers. System is Windows 2003 64Bit on intel based hardware.
    Current installations and settings
I have installed Oracle 10g 32bit and 64bit to separate foldes. Then I made tnsnames and sqlnet files with right settings to specified folders and tested connection with tnsping <servername> command.
Both, 64bit and 32bit connections are working. (Used 32bit CMD for 32bit connection test)
    ODBC
I added Microsoft ODBC for Oracle as 32bit driver and Oracle 10g driver for 64bit environment as ODBC driver.
Both environments uses same ODBC names: Myserver and Mytestserver
    Debug
First, when I only had 64bit version of ODBC, I had a warning which said that I am using incompatible version of ODBC driver. Then I read from here that I can install 32bit client also and use drivers from that on 32bit ODBC environment and get rid of that message.
Tried to connect Oracle DB with SQL-Plus and it works.
    Visual studio 2005 SP2
I have tried to use .Net Providers/Oracle Client dataprovider and .Net Providers for OleDB/Microsoft Old DB for Oracle and also .Net Providers for OldDB/Oracle provider for OldDB
Frist two gives me an error: ORA-12154 TNS: Could not resolve the connect identifier specified
Last one says that OraOldDB.oracle.1 is not registered on local machine
I have absolutily no idea what I can try next?
Anyone who has more ideas? Suggest anything. I might have tried that already, but give a shot anyway. :)

  • Oracle 10g Forms Download

    Hi,
I need to download Oracle 10g Forms and Reports. What all will I have to download alongwith besides the Oracle Database 10g. Will I also have to dowload Applications Server for Forms, Web util services for forms etc. or anything else.
    Please guide asap.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Kris

All you really need is Oracle Developer Suite 10g (9.0.4). You don't need the application server for testing - the developer suite already has a runtime and web server.
You don't need webutil for Forms but it may be useful if you are integrating with the client desktop.

  • Oracle 10g R2 download

    Hi all,
I am a newbie to oracle.
I needed to use oracle 10g R2 (for any of following platforms : Windows 7/2008/Linux) as I am preparing for my 10g DBA OCP certification.
But when I go to Oracles site for download it shows only the 11g not 10g.
I am in a great need of 10g.
So please, can anyone help me to download it.
    Thanks in advance.

Its a paid site only available to customers who have purchased the Oracle Support contract license and the site is https://support.oracle.com . If you are a newbie, you won't have the license and that means you can't raise an SR to the support. Your options are to use 11.2 at the moment. There shouldn't be any reasons good enough to start with 10g now when shortly we are expecting a new release to be out surpassing the current 11g as well. Use 11.2 and start learning it.

  • Oracle 10g DB download for Windows is corrupt

The link for Oracle 10g For Windows (10g_win32_db.zip, 604,263,765 bytes) is working, however the zip file is corrupt and won't extract fully.
    Is another download available?

We suggest the use of a download manager such as getright (getright.com; free) to ensure download stability...

  • Oracle 10g Interconnect Download

I have been trying to download Oracle 10g InterConnect for HP-UX, and even though the output from cksum matches the one on the download page, the cpio fails with an 'Out of Phase' error.
I have tried with and without the -c flag, and neither works.

I've downloaded this product as well, files:
    as_hpux_parisc_integration_101202_disk1.cpio
    as_hpux_parisc_integration_101202_disk1.cpio
When I try to unpacj them with:
    cpio -icmdv < <filename>
    I get, the classic:
    "Out of phase--get help
Perhaps the "-c" option shouldn't be used"
I get the same result when I try without the "-c" option.
    I've also tried Oracle's recommended:
    cat <filename> | cpio -icd
    with the same results.
I'm running as root, and have a lot of disc space available
    What might be the problem??

  • Oracle 10g difference: downloaded vs retail

    Hi,
Does any one know what is the difference between the downloadable "Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) Enterprise/Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows (32-bit)" application from the Oracle site against the one that is retailed?
    Thanks

    Sigh......................................
If you download the product it comes with a document called license. Didn't you read that?
Oh I forgot, you are only paid to hit buttons.
If you download the product you can always get a license afterwards, by contacting your friendly salesrep at Oracle.
Oracle has all information on this available on their site. Oracle is not about rocket science, but about not being lazy.
Right now questions here are mostly asked by people, who like you, absolutely don't read anything, and ask one redundant question after another.
And yes, the difference is zero, nada, niente, nothing, niks, nichts, nullus.

  • Oracle 10g XEClient download for Windows

I have twice downloaded the said file but I'd never seen the link (after successful installation) for the 'Go To Database Home Page' stated in the Getting Started Guide (Oracle10gXE_start.pdf). How can I login as Database Administrator?

    Hi,
See the Previous Database Release software section at the bottom of 11g download page http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
Here is the MOS note: Requesting Physical Shipment or Download URL for Software Media [ID 1071023.1]
It seems 10g is not supported on windows 7 - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15681/reqs.htm#CHDHGGFE

  • I cannot download Oracle 9i or any free download from Oracle

After logging into Oracle and trying to download the free version of Oracle 9i, or any Oracle mdbs (I also tried Oracle 10g free download) from "http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/xe/htdocs/102xewinsoft.html" the web browser hangs for about 10-15 seconds and then displays
    "Sorry. We can't find download.oracle.com
Try retyping the URL in the browser address bar above. Or, search the Web."
Is it something I need to do before downloading?
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated>

Thanks for assisting me with this issue,
I tried your suggestion and it still goes to the error page message.
I was able to download stuff from this web site and others: http://www.download.com/3001-6676_4-department
I also tried your suggestion from all my home computers (xp, 2k, and 2kServer). It must be something wrong with my router (all machines are going through the same router) or user id, doesn't it?
I will try the following: try different Oracle user profile (I will register my wife for Oracle) and I will try from a different networks (from work on Monday).
    Any other suggestions are welcome!

  • Free download of Oracle 10g & JDeveloper 10g(10.1.2.1)

I am a new user of Oracle 10g.After downloading oracle10g from ur site,i was not able to access it on my desktop. The message i see on screen is 'to open this file windows needs to know what programme created it.'
I run Microsoft Windows Xp 2002 version on my system.I thought i should download JDeveloper 10g(10.1.2.2) maybe it might open the file but whot i see on my screen after i have completed the download & i try to open is 'fail to load main-class manifest attribute from c:\documents & settings\....(name of file).'
Pls tell me the procedures/tools that i need to enable Oracle 10g to successfully run on my system.
    Thanks for your anticipated assistance.

The files you download from OTN are zip files, so you'll need to unzip them. One thing to make sure is that you unzip keeping the sub-directory structure.
If you are just starting out with JDeveloper - start with JDeveloper 10.1.3 - there is no reason to start with an older version of JDeveloper.

  • Oracle 10g features

    Hi
Please provide some information on Oracle 10g features.
    Thank you

    Hi,
Are you looking for all features or new features??
For all features (in case you're new to Oracle), I guess you need to go through the Oracle Documentation for Oracle 10g [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/index.htm]
In case you're looking for new features, go to [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14214/toc.htm]
    Thanks,

  • Introduction to Oracle 10g

    hai
Can any one tell me, how i could learn oracle 10g on my own...and i am familiar with oracle 7.0 and 8.0
could anyone provide me the links which are useful to practice sql exercises........or any pdf file of sql lab exercises....
    Thanks in Advance
    Srinivas Kundan

    Hi,
I would suggest you start working on Oracle 11g rather Oracle 10g.
Download and install the software on your PC from here.
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html
Since you have worked on Oracle 7.0 and Oracle 8.0 I take it you are not new to SQL and PL/SQL. I guess the bit you might lack is the usage of new functionalities introduced in the recent versions.
To learn the new features just follow this forum with the questions posted and try to solve the problem on your own. Once you have solved it compare your resolution with the resolution posted in this forum. I would say this is the more easy and efficient way to learn.
Also follow the posting in asktom.oracle.com.
    Hope this helps.
