Oracle 10g companion CD install

hi gurus,
i need to install oracle html db with http server on a server with oracle 10.2.0.3
i have got a companion cd file for 10.2.0.1.
is it possible to use 10.2.0.1 file to install the components on top of 10.2.0.3?
os version is solaris 5.9
thanks,
newbie

According to Companion CD install guide you should install HTTP Server and HTML DB into separate Oracle Home than your database. To avoid complication.

    while installing Oracle 10g companion product HTTP server. Does one have to delete the oracle_home variable from the registry ? (as seems like in the instructions.)
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/html/B13693_02/install.htm#BABJGGJH
    3.3 Installing Oracle Database 10g Products
    You must install Oracle Database 10g Products in an existing Oracle Database 10g release 1 (10.1) Oracle home.
    See Also:
    "Products Available in the Oracle Database 10g Products Installation Type"
    To install Oracle Database 10g Products, follow these steps:
    Log on as a member of the Administrators group to the computer on which to install Oracle components.
    If you are installing on a Primary Domain Controller (PDC) or a Backup Domain Controller (BDC), log on as a member of the Domain Administrators group.
    Delete the ORACLE_HOME environment variable if it exists.
    Refer to your Microsoft online help for more information about deleting environment variables.
    Note:
    The ORACLE_HOME environment variable is automatically set in the registry. Manually setting this variable prevents installation.
    "

    I have nothing under system variable but there is oracle_home Key in the registry under oracle. Deleting that key would interfere with the oracle database processes?. The HTTP Installation does let me execute mod_plsql process even after setting up DAD in DAD.Conf, as i was able to do in Oracle 9I.

  • Need oracle 10g software to install on OS windows 7

    Hi,
    Need oracle 10g software for install on OS windows 7.

    You can download the file from
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/10203vista-087538.html
    and install the same with ignoreSysprereqs option at command line.
    However, for a certified combination, you need to download 10.2.0.5.0 patchset (patch 8202632) from Metalink and apply on top of this installation.

  • Oracle 10g Companion CD installation

    I have installed Oracle 10g database rel 10.1.0 on Digital TRU64 Unix. I want to know whether the database should be opened or closed for installing Oracle10g Companion CD. I am intending to install only JVM related stuff.

    Listed below is brief installation of oracle JVM
    spool full_jvminst.log;
    set echo on
    connect / as sysdba
    startup mount
    alter system set "_system_trig_enabled" = false scope=memory;
    alter database open;
    select obj#, name from obj$
    where type#=28 or type#=29 or type#=30 or namespace=32;
    @?/javavm/install/initjvm.sql
    select count(*), object_type from all_objects
    where object_type like '%JAVA%' group by object_type;
    @?/xdk/admin/initxml.sql
    select count(*), object_type from all_objects
    where object_type like '%JAVA%' group by object_type;
    @?/xdk/admin/xmlja.sql
    select count(*), object_type from all_objects
    where object_type like '%JAVA%' group by object_type;
    @?/rdbms/admin/catjava.sql
    select count(*), object_type from all_objects
    where object_type like '%JAVA%' group by object_type;
    @?/rdbms/admin/catexf.sql
    select count(*), object_type from all_objects
    where object_type like '%JAVA%' group by object_type;
    shutdown immediate
    set echo off
    spool off
    The db needs to be up when you are running the above scripts but need to get recycled after installation.
    Also JVM can be installed during creation of DBCA.When it comes to the point where it says standard DBA features u can select additional features

  • Oracle 10G Non-Network install - OEM will not start when on the LAN.

    Greetings,
    Got through a non-networked 10G Enterprise installation OK; I chose to create the orcl schema, connected to it through various utilities, added new tablespace, and all was well. I also checked my Host Name by pinging it in DOS, it showed me the IP address of the MS loopback adapter which is what I was expecting.
    Once I connected the same machine to the LAN (and internet) and re-booted, for some reason the Host Name was now assigned the dynamic IP address of the LAN and not LAN2 (which is the loopback adapter that is assigned a static local IP address). It did this even though I had already added an entry in the /etc/hosts file that explicitly assigns a static IP address to the Host Name (as recommended in the Oracle 10G pre-installation instructions). I also could not get the OEM to launch a webpage, run and connect to the orcl database after the re-boot; I am wondering if this is related to the IP address assigned to Host Name changing; maybe the Oracle agent can no longer resolve the URL for some reason?
    In the end I find that the only way to insure I can have a working Oracle environment and be on an active network at the same time, is to bring up the Oracle environment on a standalone system first, and once Oracle is running connect the system to the network. Is there no way to automate this process?
    The format of the hosts file entry recommended by the Oracle 10G pre-installation instructions is as follows:
    ===========================================================
    IP_address hostname.domainname hostname
    where:
    IP_address is the non-routable IP address you entered for the loopback adapter.
    hostname is the name of the computer.
    domainname is the name of the domain.
    For example:
    10.10.10.10 mycomputer.mydomain.com mycomputer
    ==========================================================
    In my case since I am not part of a Windows domain (but am part of a Windows Workgroup), I added an entry in the /etc/host file that looks like the following:
    # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    # For example:
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    192.168.110.250 IBM-6AB1330E158
    ==> Note that I did not add the domain name to the entry I created since I am not part of a domain, I also used the format I found in the etc/hosts file which is:
    IP_address hostname.domainname
    - not -
    IP_address hostname.domainname hostname
    Which is the format recommended in the Oracle 10G pre-installation instructions; this does leave me wondering which format is correct...
    Thanks in Advance for any help,
    ADG13

    I have not. I am hoping someone (maybe even from Oracle support) will step up and officially tell us we are either right or wrong in the way we are approaching this. From the research I have done on the internet it sounds like this should work, you should be able to have Oracle starting and running fine whether you boot connected to the LAN or not, assuming you have created the MS loopback adapter, assigned it a static IP, and changed the hostname entry in etc/hosts file as part of the 10G WinXP recommended pre-installation instructions.
    And yet I find I have to start Oracle when I am not connected to the LAN or the services will not start correctly. If this is a "feature" then hopefully someone will tell us and maybe give us a workaround or give us an idea if this will be addressed in a future release. Having said that and in fairness to the Oracle product; being a developer I have other products installed on my machine that have special networking setup needs also, and in my case this could be exasperating or even possibly causing this Oracle problem I am having. To be specific I have software for 2 different VPNs installed so I can tunnel into 2 private networks. One of these VPNs require me to make use of a DNS Suffix (as shown below) which might be contributing to my problems, not sure. I also have VMWare installed which uses it own network adapters when it is running, so you can see how things could get a little hairy... at any rate, there is my 2 cents worth (or is that 5 cents? : )

    I have an Oracle error message :
    /oracle/SM1/102_64/lib32//libnls10.a(lxecg2e.o)(.text+0x681): In function `lxecg2e':

    /oracle/SM1/102_64/lib32//libnls10.a(lxecg2i.o)(.text+0xf0): In function `lxecg2i':
    : undefined reference to `ldxnbeg'
    But it's always a problem with libnls10.a(lxecg2i.o)....
    Someone have alreaday had this problem before?

  • Oracle 10g can be Installed on Windows 7 64 bit os

    Hi
    Is it possible to install oracle 10g/11g on windows 7 OS /windows vista 64 bit os
    Regards
    Pavan Kumar

    Oracle 11g works like a champ on Win7. During the install, when you get that error regarding Windows Vista 6.1, you will see a small check box next to the error message. Simply check the box next to the error. It will designate the error as "User Verified". Then you can continue your install.
    Be warned, this is not a certified configuration. Soooo....
    Problem solved.

  • Oracle 10g Client R2 Install

    Hi,
    I have recently installed the Oracle 10g Database release 2 and now want to install the client. I would like to install the client on the same pc as one of my standard users so I can write scripts(using sqlplus) and run them as this user, but the original oracle home was installed as oracle:oinstall. How should I proceed?
    Thanks,
    Chris.

    You don't need client for this. You could use binaries from existing database installation.
    Just setup the enviroment (ORACLE_HOME, LD_LIBRARY_PATH and other oracle variables except ORACLE_SID) and PATH for other user and it is done.

  • Info about Listener for oracle 10g and 11g installed on single systm

    Hi,
    I have installed oracle 10g n 11g on my system. I have question regarding oracle listener.
    oracle 10g , Listener.ora
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = kankala.kalyan)(PORT = 1521))
    oracle 11g, Listener.ora
    LISTENER =
    (DESCRIPTION_LIST =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = IPC)(KEY = EXTPROC1522))
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = kankala.kalyan)(PORT = 1522))
    my question is why the listener's names are same even though thy are on different ports?
    and for people worrying, why i have installed 10 n 11 is
    Initally only oracle 11g was installed on my system. Later, I was learning forms for first time and i have to connect to database frm developer suite 10g. so i installed oracle 10g database.

    The names are the same because that is the way you created them.
    If you want to make a change use NETCA to drop and recreate one of them.
    Just make sure you've defined ORACLE_HOME correctly before you do it.

  • Oracle 10G error - while installing 4.6C

    Dear all,
    I have tried installing 4.6c directly in oracle 10g in a HPUXIA64 server.
    I followed the note 946141 and did the central instance and also installed Oracle and upgrade it to 10.2.0.2 then applied the interim patches.
    After applying the interim patches I started the DATABASE.R3S file and it has loaded the data successfully and also statistics update was done successfully.
    But it fails to start the database. when I checked the alert log it says.
    ORA-00704: bootstrap process failure

  • Install: 10G companion CD install fails with "pingwait exits with 1220332"

    Hi,
    I am new to all this and am trying to install on a stand alone laptop. I am finding the installation process confusing.
    I have:
    1. Installed 10GR2 database software and have a sid=testdb. This is fine, I can connect via sql*plus no problem.
    2. I have downloaded Oracle 10GR2 companion CD and installed both the HTTP server and HTMLDB in a new Oracle home. This installed OK but one of the config assistants failed:
    Starting HTTP server Config assistant failed with:
    pingwait exits with 1220332.
    I was also expecting to see a flows% user in the database and this doesn't exist?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    There it should install without problems, even in a VM. Check the Oracle, Java and Path environment variables. Probably a wrong version of java is being invoked instead of the one provided with the OUI.

  • Is Oracle Client 10 part of Oracle 10g Developer Suite install?

    Hello,
    I am currently using Oracle Client 9i for Business Objects. I suppose once I move to Oracle 10g Developer Suite, I'll need to move this to Oracle 10g Client. Is this a separate install from the developer suite?
    Thanks.

    A Developer install should be including it's own Oracle Client -- ie Oracle_Home. That is how I've seen it in older versions -- haven't done Developer installs for quite a few years now !
    See http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25016_08//doc/dl/core/B16012_04/chap2.htm#i1018939 and http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25016_08//doc/dl/core/B16012_04/chap3.htm .
    The 10g Developer install is expected to be seperate from existing ORACLE_HOMEs

    Check the installActions log file for the exact error message and then search for known issues. You may also use the -debug -logLevel finest with the runInstaller to get debug information in the log and the err file.

  • Oracle 10g install on Windows Vista Ultimate

    Basic question on whether Oracle 10g can be installed on Windows Vista Ultimate. Any link suggesting the same will be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Kaz

    I have installed Oracle Database 10gR2 Enterprise Edition on Vista Business Premium and run it with no issues.
    Suggestion is to download the 'for Vista' version (http://download.oracle.com) and read the install manual (http://tahiti.oracle.com) before installing. The read the Platform Guide for Windows to follow-up management techniques.
