Oracle 10g compatibility

Hi,
Does anybody know whether there are compatiblity issues with Oracle 10g (10.1.0.2) with Sun iPlanet 6.5 Application server?
Thanks.

When You will run runInstaller it will check the version of OS and if it will be not compatible You will be informed and installation will not start! Or You can check metalink.oracle.com

  • Symantec & Oracle 10g Compatibility issues

    Hi all,
Recently i had virus attack on two of my database servers running oracle 10g. one is running on xp and the other on server 2003 r2.
i cleaned the viruses applied windows patches and then installed symantec endpoint protection 11.
after installing this teh system started crashing givin bsd.
in the xp machine i did a bit of r&d and found out that there was a problem with oracle and symantec together.
then i unsinstalled symantec made everything ok with the db and stopped db services and installed symantec back
this worked and sytem was up and running again
but the problem still continues with the windows server 2003
as soon as i uninstalled oracle the system crashed and now its not starting.
are there any compatibility issues between symantec and oracle 10g?
or something should be taken care on the oracle server before installing symantec?
Any suggestions or experience would really help.
    Regards
    Deepak

    Hi,
I guess the problem is with Symantic and the Virus .
As I know there is no direct ill-impact upon Oracle and Symantic together.
There might be another cause... So some more R&D :)

    Hi,
I am not so sure about if win 7 is compatible with 10g, however what i have read on forums is that u can install oracle 11 g on win 7.
in case u still wish to install 10g then u can install it on xp or on OEL ( Oracle Enterprise linux )
OEL is free of cost - this is just another flavour of linux managed by oracle
u can install it on virtual box ( google this ) , virtual box is a free software, where as vmware server is paid.
I was in same situation as u r just 2 weeks back, and now i have oracle 10g on OEL on virtual box.
    Hope it helps

  • Oracle 10G compatibility with Business Object 6.3.1

we have a BO application, which accepts data from Oracle 10G. We are currently in the process to upgrade from Oracle 9I to 10G. We have not yet had the upgrades, but it would be very helpful if i could get some information on the impacts on BO due to this upgrade.

    Dear,
first of all remeber that if you change the sarver name port when you log on on CMC or CCM you have to name the server with the new port in the field system:
    <servername>:<port> es. PIPPO:6350

  • Small Business Server 2003 Compatibility with Oracle 10G, licensing?

    Hello all,
Is Windows SBS 2003 compatible with Oracle 10G, I looked at the compatibility and didn't notice it but I wanted to see if anyone here had any experience with the two.

The licensing isn't by cpu slots, it's by the number
of cores times a multipier, which I believe for intel
is .5, so if you have a cpu w/ 2 cores, you would
purchase a 1 cpu license. If you have a quad core
cpu, you would need to purchase a 2 cpu license. I
would definitely talk to your sales rep about this to
make sure the multipier is right (and if it has
changed w/ intel quad technology). Thanks Jim. The multiplier used above for Intel is indeed correct. However, Oracle has (in the last few weeks) introduced the term 'socket' into it's licensing metrics as follows:
"When licensing Oracle programs with Standard Edition One or Standard Edition in the product name, a processor is counted equivalent to an occupied socket. See http://www.oracle.com/corporate/pricing/technology-price-list.pdf "
    To quote another source (CRN):
"..Standard Edition was licensed for servers with up to four single-core processor cores. For multicore chips, users could only license it for up to eight cores total. Oracle's formula was to multiply the number of cores by 0.50 to get the CPU license number to determine price. So a four-core box counted as two CPUs.
Now Standard Edition can be licensed on servers with up to four sockets, or four processors running one-, two- or four-core chips (and possibly a higher number of cores)." This source overlooks to mention that the multiplier relates to Intel!

  • Oracle 11g compatibility with oracle 10g and 9i?

    Hi All
I have some queries on 11g compatibility.
Is oracle 11g client compatible with oracle 10g client which is already installed on desktop?
If yes any changes to be done and where?
Is oracle 11g compatible with oracle 10g/9i on the same server where 10g/9i are installed?
    Regards

    Thanks Justin Thats right ...
    Problem elaboration is as follows
We currently have an application which requires oracle 10g(10.2.0.3) client to connect to database from user desktops. As
part of new application development the oracle 11g clients need to be installed on all the user deskotps.
The complete application software along with oracle client 11g has to be roled out on these desktop as part of
implementaion of new application besides the existing application(The application software is packaged along with oracle
    10g client).
We would like to understand if there is any software provided by oracle using which we can switch between different oracle
versions while accessing the respective applications simultaneously. Also are there any known bugs/issues in running
oracle 10g client and oracle 11g client together on the same user desktops with different oracle homes?

  • Compat-libstdc++-33 (installing Oracle 10g 10..2.0 on Linux AS4 64bit)

I'm installing Oracle 10g 10.0.2.0.1 on a Red Hat Linux AS4 64bit, but I'm running into some problems. Error relates to Note:340369.1.
How can I tell if I have compat-libstdc++-33.3.2.3-47.3 or compat-libstdc++-33.3.2.3-47.3.i386 installed? If I do a 'rpm -ql compat-libstdc++-33', it shows up in /usr/lib and /usr/lib64. I need to ensure I have compat-libstdc++-33.3.2.3-47.3.i386 for the install.
    Thanks in advance.

    Try the following:
    rpm query queryformat
    "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}.%{RELEASE} (%{ARCH}) libstdc++
    Chrisgood hint (check the quotes)
    also possible is
    $ rpm -q libstdc++-3.4.5-2.i386
    libstdc++-3.4.5-2
    $ rpm -q libstdc++-3.4.5-2.x86_64

  • Oracle 10g - architechture and compatibility

    I want to know that
    - Whether Oracle 10g support 2 tier Architecture Or it is strictly for 3 tier.
    - If it doesn’t support 2 tier then, is Oracle 9i is the latest version for 2 tier system.
    - If Oracle 10g supports 2 tier then ,Is Developer 200 version 5.6 is compatible with Oracle 10g. ?
Please response my query, as I have to take some urgent decisions based on this asap.

If Oracle 10g means Database server 10g, then it's independent from Client Architecture ( 2 or 3 tiers refers to Client Architecture), you can use the same DB with both architectures simultaneously.
Is Developer 200 version 5.6 is compatible with Oracle 10g. ?
In Metalink Note:207303.1 you can see the official Client / Server / Interoperability support between different Oracle versions, but I have to say that I've already used unsupported combinations, e.g. 8.0.6 Client with 10g DB, and they may work, so the best thing would be to try.....

  • Compatibility about oracle 10g release1 and unbreakable Linux

    Hi there,
My OS is "Oracle Unbreakable Linux" which is from ORACLE, when I tried to install oracle 10g release 1 , it got error as below:
    [oracle@O10gR1 Disk1]$ ./runInstaller
    Starting Oracle Universal Installer...
    Checking installer requirements...
    Checking operating system version: must be redhat-2.1, redhat-3, SuSE-9, SuSE-8 or UnitedLinux-1.0
    Failed <<<<
Can somebody tell me if unbreakable linux is compatible to oracle 10g release 1 ?
    Thanks

Oracle 10gR1 is certified with OEL, you might have using old downloaded installer, that's why you getting error. Download new installer from otn.oracle.com.
    OR
you just need to execute runInstaller with -ignoreSysPrereqs switch:
    ./runInstaller -ignoreSysPrereqs
    OR
    Update oraparam.ini in STAGE_AREA/Disk1/install

  • Compatibility issue oracle 10g

    Hi all,
    1) please can any one tell me that windows 2008 server support or compatible with Oracle 10.1.0.2..0 ?
2)f not which release of oracle 11g support windows 2008. we have oracle database 10.1.0.2.0 on AIX on top of that we have oracle 10g application server
so if we go for oracle 11g on windows 2008 then oracle 10g application server support oracle 11g or not. please help .
    Best Regards

Database 10.1 is in extended support mode. Anything you do with it is putting you in a situation where, should there be any issues, there will be no patches and support will cost more.
Given any choice in the matter at all 11.2.0.3 on AIX is the best possible solution if appropriate hardware is in place ... and if you have to use Intel based hardware then go with Oracle Enterprise Linux. What you do NOT want is Windows 2008.
