Oracle 10g DB listener does not work.

I am in a terrible situation.
My oracle 10g db listener often hang without any sign.
For example , sometimes user sql select one minute ago , then the database could't be conected next minute .
Even i command lsnrctl stop and start , the listener is over .
I have to kill process then start listener.
I try to find out what for , but i am don't know how to do .
May any one tell my why or how ?
Thank you .

Thank you .
I find how to happen the problem . It should be bug 4518443 .
Now i have another question .
I want to apply patch ,but fails.
following is my command line :
[oracle@localhost ~]$ opatch lsinventory
-bash: opatch: command not found
When I cd $oracle_home/OPatch , i find opatch file.
Iam not sure why i can't apply patch .
Thak you .

    Looks like latest (10g) forms demo - Spell check with JSpell does not work with the latest version of the JSpell software (does not look like this demo been changed from the previous version).
    Does anybody has a success running this or have any suggestions how to integrate it together?
    Thanks for any input.

    We're in contact with JSpell on this issue and will revise the integration code as soon as we recieve the relevant updates from them.

  • Oracle 11g XE listener does not start automatically during boot

    Hi,
    This happened to me recently I just wanted to share it with you.
    For development I was running Standard Edition, at some point I decided to run also XE on the same server for another reasons. Everything was working fine, except that after restart of the server, the XE listener is not starting automatically. Debugging the startup script I found that this happens because of a bug in the code, which assumes that XE listener is running if it finds the word LISTENER within the processes list. I didn't found any obligation in the docs for running XE without any other databases on the same host.
    In file /etc/init.d/oracle-xe, at line 556 the code is failing:
    1     + status='oracle 2889 1 0 May13 ? 00:00:05 /oracle/ora112se/bin/tnslsnr LISTENER -inherit'
    2     + '[' 'oracle 2889 1 0 May13 ? 00:00:05 /oracle/ora112se/bin/tnslsnr LISTENER -inherit' == '' ']'
    As you can see I have another listener(the one for SE) running and because of the XE startup script found the keyword LISTENER it’s supposing that the XE LISTENER is already running.
    To fix this simply change line 556 from:
    1     status=`ps -ef | grep tns | grep oracle`
    To:
    1     status=`ps -ef | grep tns | grep oracle | grep xe`
    Now XE listener is started automatically during boot.

    I though the same thing, but XE LISTENER is running on localhost and port 1522. On the other hand XE have local_listener explicitly set to the very same connection descriptor. Even XE installation was second on this server.
    I've could change that yes, but the startup script doesn't seemed to have this mind.

    Sve

  • Oracle 10g RAC SQL profiles not working for both the nodes

    We have identified a long running sql.
    Used Advisor to tune the sql
    Applied the suggested sql_profile as per the recommendation.
    when we re-run the sql from application, due to RAC setup the sql hit the other node, used the sql profile as indicated by v$sql but was long running.
    it generated a new sql_id due to which we think it was not working.
    Could you please advice how to apply sql_profile for both nodes?

    HI Arun
    Would you please post that in the GRID RAC section of this forum please ?

  • Reports who work in BIP 10G does not work in BIP 11G

    Hi!
    We are in the middle of going from BIP 10G to BIP 11G (latest patch installed the 9 of february). We have used the Upgrade Assistant to migrate the reports from 10G to 11G, about 80-90% are working directly.
    But, as always are there some problems. There are 2 major problems I am struggling with for the moment. 1 is long running reports who gets "Connection reset by peer" before the report ends and the more problematic which is this:

    Does anyone have the solution for this type of error, we have about 30-40 reports that is behaving like this in BIP 11G but works fine in BIP 10G.
    Can we do anything general in the BIP 11G or does we need to find the solution for each report and change in the template?
    All ideas are appreciated, thanks,
    Anders B

    Hi!
    Have everyone out there been able to use the upgrade assistant without any problem?
    The UA.bat program says everything is ok but the report actually created in BIP 10G does not work in BIP 11G. We are looking for documentation or "findings" of what the problem can be, in a more general way. We are aware of that we probably have to fix this manually, but we dont know what to fix, and it is not so "fun" to be forced to re create all this templates and reports. The datamodell seems for the most of the time works, so we get a working xml source but the creation of the report thru the template dont work.
    Best regards,
    Anders

  • Oracle Database Express Edition 11g Release 2: Does not work in Windows x64

    Hi
    I download a year ago oracle 10g and installed in windows7/64bit.
    Then I messed up my computer. So I had to reinstall from scratch.
    oracle 10g seems to be not available anymore.
    Now 11g is available. But it says does not work in x64.
    Can somebody explain this?
    Thanks
    Beat

    Hi, and welcome to the OTN forums!
    I download a year ago oracle 10g and installed in windows7/64bit.
    Now 11g is available. But it says does not work in x64.Well, in fact, 10.2 XE wasn't certified for x64 either, not even for Linux x64...
    11.2 XE has a Linux x86_64 release, and there has been an announcement that there'll be a x64 release for Windows as well, but it's not available (yet).
    There have been a lot of reports that people got 11.2 XE work on x64 Windows machines as well, with a few tweaks at installation time and/or afterwards...
    You'll find tons of posts on that topic when using forum search...
    oracle 10g seems to be not available anymore.Right, the official downloads have been removed after all database 10.2 releases fell out of (regular) support.

  • OEM 10g - ORA-12505: TNS:listener does not currently know of SID...

    Hello,
    In OEM (version 10.1.0.5 on Red Hat linux 4), on the page Database Instance: dbexemple.domain.be
    It says:
    - Database Instance > up
    - Listener > up
    - Agent connection to database > Status: Failed
    Details: Failed to connect to database instance: ORA-12505: TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach).
    And my OEM database is always in Blackout state.
    I can connect on the database and if I select from global_name it gives me the good name.
    If I do lsnrctl status
    Service "dbexemple.domain.be" has 1 instance(s).
    Instance "emrep", status READY, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
    If I do lsnrctl services
    Service "dbexemple.domain.be" has 1 instance(s).
    Instance "dbexemple", status READY, has 1 handler(s) for this service...
    Handler(s):
    "DEDICATED" established:44 refused:0 state:ready
    LOCAL SERVER
    So all looks normal. But my DB is still in blackout state.
    I did stop and start the agent > no change
    I did shutdown and start the database > no change
    I did stop the agent delete the $oracle_home/sysmen/emd/... files and start the agent and emctl upload... > no change
    In the targets.xml file from the agent I have:
    <Target TYPE="oracle_database" NAME="dbexemple.domain.be">
    <Property NAME="OracleHome" VALUE="/oracle/product/db10g"/>
    <Property NAME="UserName" VALUE="###" ENCRYPTED="TRUE"/>
    <Property NAME="MachineName" VALUE="machine.domain.be"/>
    <Property NAME="Port" VALUE="1521"/>
    <Property NAME="SID" VALUE="dbexemple"/>
    <Property NAME="ServiceName" VALUE="dbexemple.domain.be"/>
    <Property NAME="password" VALUE="###" ENCRYPTED="TRUE"/>
    </Target>
    Seems good also
    My tnsnames.ora
    DBEXEMPLE =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = machine.domain.be)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = dbexemple.domain.be)
    tnsping dbexemple is also good:
    Used LDAP adapter to resolve the alias
    Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=machine)(PORT=1521)))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVER=DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME=dbexemple.domain.be)))
    OK (10 msec)
    The DB is not in the listener.ora but anyway at the startup of the database the database register in the listener (can take some seconds).
    In OEM if I look at blackout, it says no blackout exists
    So after all these verifications my OEM database is still in blackout status and remain in blackout.
    I would like to find the reason why it stays like this and the agent finally stop giving me an error.
    thank you for your help,
    Loïc

    The fact is that I did not set any blackout for the emrep database. (no blackout are set at the moment in fact)
    So, we did change the HDD of the computer were was OEM to another HDD.
    The update to 10.1.0.5 was made before all this (2 weeks) and no problem appears after that.
    There's no blackout in OEM Blackouts:
    No Blackouts found.
    and no blackout with emctl:
    [oracle@computeroem bin]$ ./emctl status blackout

  • IT DOES NOT WORK IN NETWORK (APEX + Oracle XE in XP)

    Hi there!
    I am beginner in Apex and Oracle XE. So I have met some trouble.
    I have installed Oracle 10g XE to Windows XP. It was easy. Then I started DB home by url: http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex. It works. But my PC has Network card with persistent IP address 192.168.1.150. So I try to connect by url: http://192.168.1.150:8080/apex . It DOES not work. I switched off firewall. It does not work. Please give me some suggestion or advise how to solve it.
    Thanks in advance.
    Ulan

    Ulan,
    1) The XE discussion forum is at: Oracle Database Express Edition (XE)
    2) Your specific problem is addressed here:

  • The link to a user defined oracle stored procedure does not work

    This is based on the HowTo Download a file
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/database/htmldb/howtos/howto_file_upload.html
    I have given a link to a procedure as follows, which will download the file (as given in the HowTo):
    #OWNER#.download_my_file?p_file=#ID#.
    However, this does not work. It tries to open a page rather than executing the procedure. It displays the page not found message

    that page not found message is a generic one. you'd want to check your apache logs for more info on what really happened. my guess is that you missed step 5 of that how-to, "grant execute on download_my_file to public"
    hope this helps,
    raj

  • TCP Listen vi does not work in Labview RT 7.0

    I'm trying to use a TCP Listener to accept connections from another PC on the local network.
    When running the program with Labview 7.0 all works fine and I'm able to receive IP packets from the remote PC.
    However, when I run it in Labview RT 7.0, the TCP listener does not listen on the specified port.
    Another issue - after running the program in Labview 7.0, and then trying to run it again with Labview RT 7.0, if the specified port
    is the same, I get error 60: "The specified network address is currently in use."
    I'd appreciate your help,
    Alik

    Hi alikm,
    I am a little confused on what your set up is. When you say that you are running LabVIEW Real-Time, do you mean that you are running the program on a Real-Time target? How are you establishing that the project you are setting up is a Real-Time project?
    Also, if you are trying to access one port at the same time using two systems, you will get an error that you are not able to do this, since you can only write to a single port once at a time.

  • BUG: Oracle Schema Processor does not work in Servlets

    We found a bug with Oracle's Schema Processor. It does not work in Servlets.
    When we try to validate a XML document in a Servlet it does not work, but we can execute the same code in a stand alone application and it works.
    The following is the code we are using:
    try {
    File f =new File(filename);
    FileReader r = new FileReader(f);
    DOMParser dp = new DOMParser();
    URL url = createURL (filename);
    dp.setValidationMode(false);
    dp.setSchemaValidationMode(true);
    dp.setPreserveWhitespace(true);
    dp.parse(url);
    System.out.println("it is parsed");
    } catch(Exception e){System.out.println("there is Error"+e.getMessage());}
    null

    I don't think this is related to Servlets per se.
    Check that the Schema processor classes used by the servlet container, and your application are the same.
    Java does not have proper versioning of classes, I have seen many applications collapse. People compiled their code on developer machines, where it worked fine, but when moved to a production machine they failed because the production machine had a different version of classes. Usually the name of the class doesn't change, but either a method or a variable is missing in several classes. VM doesn't complain but simply crashes.
    In your Schema Processor classes that are used by the servlet engine might be different from the one that the app uses. Do a search on the file system to see how many copy of the same class bundle (zip, jar) you have on the system.

  • Oracle Applications 11i Load Balancing does not work with RAC one Node

    Hi all,
    Could you help me to resolve this issue.
    Architecture environment is :
    - One APPS tier node
    - Two nodes Oracle Database Appliance (Primary node 1 holds INSTANCE_1 et Secondary node is configurured to holds INSTANCE_2), i.e RAC one Node.
    - The primary node have instance_name SIGM_1 and the secondary node have instance_name SIGM_2, but in RAC one node, the secondary instance is not alive.
    We convert our EBS 11i environment to RAC following note ID Using Oracle 11g Release 2 Real Application Clusters with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 11i [ID 823586.1].
    When testing Database failover, Oracle Applications 11i load balancing does not work anymore.
    The root cause is that, when the primary node of the Rac one node is down, the INSTANCE_NAME_1 is automaically relocating to the surviving node,.
    During test failover, we imagine that when the primary node goes down, the secondary node start or relocate database with instance_name SIGM_2, and in that case the Oracle Applications load balancing works.
    Currently, when the primary node goes down, the instance_name SIGM_1 is relocated on the secondary node, which cause failure of Oracle Applications Load Balancing.
    Thank you for your advice.

    This is something I observed a long time ago for Safari (ie: around version 1). I'm not sure this is Safari, per se, but OpenSSL that is responsible for the behavior. I'm pretty sure Chrome does this and I've seen some Linux browsers do it.
    What I have done at the last two companies I've worked for is recommend that our clients do not use SSL SessionID as the way of tracking sticky sessions on web servers, but instead using IP address. This works in nearly all cases and has few downsides. The other solution is to use some sort of session sharing on your web servers to mitigate the issue (which also means that your web servers aren't a point of failure for your users' sessions). (One of the products I supported had no session information stored on the web servers, so we could safely round-robin requests, the other product could be implemented with a Session State Server... but in most cases we just used IP address to load balance with). The other solution is to configure your load balancer to terminate the SSL tunnel. You get some other benefits from this, such as allowing your load balancer to reduce the number of actual connections to the web servers. I've seen many devices setup this way.
    One thing to consider through this is that - due to the way internet standards work - this really can't be termed a bug on anyone's part. There is no guarantee in the SSL/TLS standards that a client will return the same SSL Session ID for each request and there is not requirement that subsequent requests will even use the same tunnel. Remember, HTTP is a stateless protocol. Each request is considered a new request by the web server and everything else is just trickery to try and get it to work the way you want. You can be annoyed at Safari's behavior, but it's been this way for over 5 years by my count, so I don't expect it to change.
