Oracle 10G for Mac OSX intel

We just downloaded Oracle 10G release 1 for Mac OSX. However, we would like to know when Oracle will announce an updated version for Mac OSX (10G release 2) on Intel. Any news on this?

Seems to be still not planned.
Maybe see and/or ask into metalink and to your Oracle support.
Nicolas.

I was just reading the session list for Apple's WWDC this year at:
    http://developer.apple.com/wwdc/descriptions/descriptions-eit.html
Understanding Oracle 10g for Mac OS X
Come to this session to learn about Oracle's latest grid-based relational database solution, Oracle 10g. Grid computing reduces the cost of IT by clustering servers together to function as a single large computer, shifting resources dynamically between applications. Attend this session if you are an in-house developer looking for a highly scalable and reliable database on Mac OS X Server.
Hopefully this means we will see 10g on our favorite platform sooner rather than later.

As I understand it from what I read somewhere here on Technet about month ago, there will be COMMERICIAL release of 10g on MacOSX.
Wouldn't that be just great? Run Oracle on a G5 X-Serve and OSX Panther instead of running it on some Wintel box with geeky Linux! I can hardly wait. This DBA will have his own G4 2x1 GHz ready!
FACT is : it will probably be a few more months but then again 10g has been released for other less mainstream platforms fairly quickly.
    Cheers,
    Jos Nijhoff

  • Is there virus protection software avaliable for Mac osx intel

is there virus protection software avaliable for Mac osx intel?

Plenty, but none of them really necessary. 10.6.8 has it's own in-built system. Just keep the security updates up to date to cover the latest malware quarantine definitions.

  • Oracle 10g for Mac

I am planning to install oracle 10g trial on my macbook.., some say that we can not install on Mac OS X, it can be installed only on Mac OS X Server.
is it true.., anyone tried it installing on OS X
    thanks

While there isn't an Oracle database version for the Intel chip set, you can install a VMWare Fusion virtual machine and access the database from the Mac OS natively. The Mac Leopard version of the Oracle Client software was released a few months ago. You can find instructions for configuring the Oracle Client software on my blog:

  • Oracle 10g on Mac OSX

    Hi
I would like to get Oracle 10g up and running on my Mac Powerbook under OSX 10.4.3 NOT server. is it possible? I last tried an install under 10.3.9 and it all worked until bind time and then failed binding to some library or another. Anyone got any experience of this?
In case you are wondering why I would do this, it is so I can get up to speed on 10g at home and out of the office, I dont plan to run a production server on a laptop.

I'm getting the exact same error. Have you found any additional info?

  • When is 10g for Mac OSX available?

When will Oracle Database 10g for Macintosh OS X become available for download from OTN?

Or use that functionality already built into iCal.

  • Oracle Client for Mac OSX

I have an Oracle 9i Database Server on Windows 2000, but I'd like to access it
from my MAC running OSX. I've installed the DBI interface for MacPerl, but cannot
get the DBD::Oracle Driver installed, because I don't have the ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/demo/oracle.mk
    makefile.
Can anyone point me to where I can download the oracle.mk file for Oracle9i? And/or is there an Oracle9i client
    for us Mac users?

As of now Oracle ODBC driver is not supported on MacOS platform. That's why ODBC Instant Client Package is missing in that page.

  • How to install oracle 10g in MAC OS X LION

Can some one help me in installing oracle 10g in my mac os xlion.. I also need to know where can i download ORACLE 10g for mac ??

    Hi,
About installing Oracle 10g in OS X Lion, I think you may need to install in other platform such as LINUX. Because Oracle 10g R2 installer packages were removed from OTN site which it may end-of-support.

  • Need Oracle Database 10g For Mac OS 10.4 PowerPC

Hi, I am looking for Oracle Database 10g for Mac OS 10.4 PowerPC. I need to run this software on a PowerBook G4. I would appreciate any download links or tips that can help.

I am using Virtual PC 7 running Windows 2000, but the emulator runs painfully slow. Things would run a lot smoothly if I had the PowerPC version of Oracle Database. I heard it exist.

  • The Java for Mac OSX 10.5 Update 10 removed the Java plugin from Firefox 5.0. How do I re-install it?

I've just installed Java for Mac OSX 10.5 Update 10 and can no longer run Java Applets from Firefox 5.0

    Dear Craig,
Macbook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB RAM
I'm sure that this is 64-bit
    CF 8.0.1 Enterprise Build 3080
I had moved the Java SE 6 to the top in both Plugin and Applications. The
correct version is showing in the terminal window. See below.
Last login: Thu Jun 18 11:27:09 on ttys001
    Beta-4:~ Colin$ java -version
    java version "1.6.0_13"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_13-b03-211)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 11.3-b02-83, mixed mode)
    Beta-4:~ Colin$
CF will not start. I have the activity monitor open, and when I start CF you
see it in the activity monitor for a few seconds as it starts up. When the
message process is completed in the terminal window CF disappears in the
    activity monitor.
    Any suggestions?
    C
    Hi, Colin,
My apologies but I forgot to ask 2 questions: (1) What kind of Mac you have
(Intel or PowerPC)? (2) What version of CF are you running and what installer
    did you choose (8 or 8.0.1, 32-bit, 64-bit, etc.)?
    To start, try the following:
    1. Normally you'd shut CF down first ... but that's not necessary for you
    2. Open Java Preferences again
    3. Select Java SE 6 and move it (drag) to the top spot in both section (Applet
    Plugin and Applications)
    4. Open Terminal
    5. Type java -version (you should see 1.6.0_13 as the new version)
    6. Try to start CF again
This may not work (I've had issues with it) but it's technically how it's
supposed to work. With the Java Preferences utility, you're visually setting a
default JVM (you can do it with commands in Terminal but this is much faster
    and easier).
If CF still won't start, look for the jvm.config file in your CF application
    folder (try /Applications/ColdFusion8/bin or
    /Applications/ColdFusion8/runtime/bin -- the latter is where a jvm.config file
is on my machine for a particular version of CF that's installed similar to
yours). You can override the JVM in this file but, hopefully, that won't be
    necessary!
    Best,
    Craig

What is the latest update available for Mac OSX 10.5.8 that will allow me to get the latest update for iTunes.  I really need to update my iPhone and CAN'T!!  GRRRR!!!

Minimally you need Snow Leopard or greater:
Upgrade Paths to Snow Leopard, Lion, and/or Mountain Lion
You can upgrade to Mountain Lion from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mountain Lion can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for $19.99. To access the App Store you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later installed.
    Upgrading to Snow Leopard
You can purchase Snow Leopard through the Apple Store: Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard — Apple Store (U.S.). The price is $19.99 plus tax. You will be sent physical media by mail after placing your order.
After you install Snow Leopard you will have to download and install the Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 to update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8 and give you access to the App Store. Access to the App Store enables you to download Mountain Lion if your computer meets the requirements.
         Snow Leopard General Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel processor
           2. 1GB of memory
           3. 5GB of available disk space
           4. DVD drive for installation
           5. Some features require a compatible Internet service provider;
               fees may apply.
           6. Some features require Apple’s iCloud services; fees and
               terms apply.
    Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service — this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax.  It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.
         Lion System Requirements
           1. Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7,
               or Xeon processor
           2. 2GB of memory
           3. OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
           4. 7GB of available space
           5. Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion — System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) —
                 Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) — Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
    Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table — RoaringApps.
For a complete How-To introduction from Apple see Upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.

  • Reinstall Flash CS3 for Mac OSX

Recently had to replace the hard drive on my Mac Book Pro. Data transfer to the new hard drive went well EXCEPT for my attempts to reinstall Flash CS3 and Flash Player (I'm forgetting the name of the latest and greatest version of the media player--forgive my temporary ignorance). I followed all of the procedures outlined in the ReadMe file. Have tried it several times to no avail. I keep getting an error message at the end of the reinstall process and the program will not open. All of the application files appear to be on my hard rive. Something is missing or needs to be repaired. I just don't know where to start to find out what needs to be repaired or replaced or updated. I suspect that because there have been numerous updates to Flash player, something related is interfering with the reinstall process. Any advice help would be appreciated.
    Cheers.

    You'll find a debug folder and a 10.3.183.90 folder. It's in the
    latter. It'll be a DMG named 10_3_183_90.dmg.

  • Oracle 10g on Mac OS X

So what do you think about Oracle releasing Oracle 10g on Mac OS X? Overall, I think it's a vote of confidence from Oracle's part on OS X's viability and potential in the enterprise. Especially since Oracle has also released their development tools for OS X as well.
    - What are your thoughts on Oracle on Mac OS X?
    - Has anyone here installed Oracle 10g on Mac OS X?
