Oracle 10g install dbca always in Chinese and not English language

I installed/re-installed Oracle 10g several times including removing registry entries, C:\Oracle directory, C:\Program Files\Oracle and empty c:\temp folders,
set my windows xp languages to English (Can) and u.s. only
The dbca always comes up in Chinese language and not in English no matter what I did. Is there a simple way to reset dbca to english without reinstalling Oracle 10g even though I really want to know why and how it picks up Chinese language as default ?

I searched for "chinese" in oracle folder and found it in my install log where based on registry settings, it took my default language as Chinese.
I searched google, nothing until I came across how to set languages in xp.
To solve this annoying problem on xp:
Go to settings/control Panel/Regional and Language options/
under language tab, make sure both Thai and East Asian languages boxes are unchecked
under advanced tab, select language version non-unicode programs, pick English (Canada) drop down, I had Hong Kong SAR before. Clicked apply and come back in again to ensure no code page version tables for Asian languages are checked on this Advanced tab. Restart computer and that's it !

I have been trying to install 9i for the last week but was getting the same problem as seen it a few threads below. I therefore tried to install 10g - now when I
run the ./runInstaller script from oracle I get this message 'can't access /Users/"mylocaluser"/oraInventory'
Anyone know why its trying to install here as uppose to /Users/oracle?????
I know its probabaly something stupid I am doing at my end ---
I followed the installation instructions and everything seems to be setup fine - I couldn't see anything in the runInstaller script either

Normally you have a file called /var/opt/oracle/oraInst.loc that specifies where the global inventory is located. If the installer can not put a lock on that directory it won't install. So I think you should check that file and make sure it is according to oracle's (and hopefully) your expectations and writable by the installer.
(not 100% sure about /var/opt/oracle on the mac)

Running Oracle 9i client code against an Oracle 10g install on PC

On Unix I am able to run Oracle 9i client code against an Oracle 10g install by setting ORACLE_HOME to the Oracle 10g install location and then creating a symbolic link (example: ln -fs libclntsh.so.10.1 libclntsh.so.9.0).
On PC (in particular XP SP2) I want to do something similar without using "junctions" or "junction points". Is there a way to set an environment variable or ini file to have my 9i client code point to the right libraries? I keep getting an error saying that my client code will not run due to "orasql9.dll" not being found. The "orasql10.dll" is installed on my machine.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Even your application built on 9i, doesn't mean it will not work with 10g database. From what I can see, running 9i executable under 10g installation to create mixed blood breed will do more harm than good. Not only it's not supported but also the outcome is unpredictable.

Oracle 10g install on Windows server 2008 R2 ( 6.1 )

I am trying to install Oracle 10g over windows server 2008 R2 (6.1) but it gives error that OS is not supported. I tried to install below version.
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.4.0)
Enterprise/Standard Edition for Microsoft Windows Vista x64, Windows Server 2008 x64,
Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 x64, Windows 7 x64
But it fails with error that OS version 6.1 is not supported. On download page it is written to get 10.2.0.5 patch from My Oracle support for windows server 2008 R2, I got patch p8202632_10205_MSWIN-x86-64 but it requires a pre-installed oracle home.
So how should I install Oracle 10g as 10.2.0.4 does not get installed and the patch asks for a previous install?
The reason I am installing Oracle 10g is that our Java application is running in production over JDK 1.4 and Oracle 11g does not provide JDBC driver for JDK 1.4, is there any JDBC driver for Oracle 11g that can work with JDK 1.4?

I'm sorry if I post it in a wrong place... But I really want to know when will Oracle 10g/11g support Windows Server 2008 and AIX 6.1?
I've searched in metalink but found nothing useful. Is there anybody can give me a link of Oracle's roadmap for platform support?

Oracle does not announce release dates and neither
does any other software company.But Oracle does have a very good track record of supporting their products on new windows releases extremely close to the windows release date. Clearly they can't support on an unreleased platform though. Given that the launch of Server 2008 isn't even complete worldwide yet (19th March in the UK for example) it would seem that this enquiry is a little premature.

Install what? You can choose an alternate install location during setup or in the Creative Cloud app, but some components will always be installed on your system root drive, regardless.

Chinese and other asian languages in Web Dynpro

I want to display Chinese and other asian languages for different UI elements like Text view , Label etc .
I have gone through Internationalization example on SDN but it applies only for English and German . When i applied the same methodology for Chinese putting zh_CN.xlf , i am not able to put chineese text in the S2x editor . it is displayed as boxes and when i save it again comes to old text .
Do i need to install some plug-ins for inputting and displaying of Asian languages ?

Press and hold any of the apps on your iPad's homescreen and after a couple of seconds or so they should start to shake. Then press the 'x' in the top left corner to delete the ones that you don't want, and when you've finished deleting press the home button so as to stop the shaking. If you don't get the 'x' on any of the apps that you've downloaded then check that Settings > General > Restrictions > Deleting Apps isn't set 'off'.
Note that deleting an app will delete all of its content as well

The language of the store is set by the store that you are using. Are you logged in with your Danish iTunes account on the iPad : Settings > Store ?

You can set the Interface Language via the Search settings link on the http://www.google.com/ncr site. That should work for the Google Firefox page as well.<br />
That setting is stored in a Google PREF cookie that you need to keep (allow).

Ora10g also cannot connect earily ora8, that's mean if I want upgrade to Ora10g I must drop the earily application which having connect other earily oradb such as 8.0.5, however not every company want upgrade, so they also force us using the earily oradb,unless rebuild the application mode.

Oracle 10g Install Question

Hi All,
I have to install oracle 10g onto a server where there is existing oracle 9i software.
Is it safe to go ahead with the install, while the 9i databases are up?? what are the consequences of doing this?
OS patches and kernel parameters as required for oracle 10g have already been changed.
10g is being installed into a different oracle home and i would choose not to overwrite any of the files as asked by root.sh script.
OS is hp-ux 11i (11.11).

Sorry for not being clear in my question earlier.
I am planning to install Oracle 10g on a server with existing 9i software. My question is whether we should shutdown all 9i databases for the duration of the install or we can leave them running as long as we do not overwrite any 9i files including files in /usr/local/bin directory that contains oranev etc...
To be on the safer side it is always recomended to shutdown any oracle instances running before we start the install. Wanted to know the consequences if we have them up and running for the duration of the install.
