Oracle 10g Installation: JVM Crashes in Net Configuration Assistant
Hi,
I'm trying to install Oracle 10g (10.2.0.1) in Windows 2003 server, Installation goes fine, JVM crashes at the time of configuring, "Network Conf Assistant", Can any one help me out here.... Have given the JVM dump for your reference...

Configuration assistant "Oracle Net Configuration Assistant" failed
The "E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\cfgtoollogs/configToolFailedCommands" script contains all commands that failed, were skipped or were cancelled. This file may be used to run these configuration assistants outside of OUI. Note that you may have to update this script with passwords (if any) before executing the same.-------------------

I opted to create a starter database as part of the installation.
The error occurs "during installation" while trying to do the database configurations.
(I did try once without installing and configuring the Loopback adapter (With and without plugging into the network).
Later I read some of the problems with DHCP and installed/configured the Loopback adapter.
Then tried Installing Oracle 11gR2 (With and without plugging into the network)
But end up getting stuck at the same Net Configuration Assistant failure).
Any advise ?

10G Net Configuration assistant failed in windows Server 2003

When i try to install Oracle 10g It is installing, But Net Conf Assist Failed stating that there are multiple Oracle Homes.

What is the different between using dns and hosts file? How do I force it to use the DNS?
I checked that the file sqlnet.ora.linux1 and the directory does not exist. It is strange that I am installing the grid software not the oracle software. The directory only exist in /u01/app/crs/...

I installed JDK 1.5 and tried installing again. It failed again at the same point.
I ran netca.bat file individually. It gave the below error in the command line.And I am pasting the log also here. It looks like something to do with my JDK.

INFO: User Selected: Yes/OKI had Oracle 10g XE (Express installed but uninstalled it in case it was causing conflicts with the installation of 10 Enterprise). It appeared to have uninstalled cleanly.
However, I was looking at my Environment variables and noticed the following:
Oracle in OraDb10g_home1 points to a directory that doesn't exists since the uninstall. I deleted this variable.
I also receive the following warning during prerequiste check (but I appeared to have a solution according ot the documentation)

Problem: The install has detected that the primary IP address of the system is DHCP-assigned.
Recommendation: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned IP addresses; However, before you can do this, you must configure the Microsoft LoopBack Adapter to be the primary network adapter on the system. See the Installation Guide for more details on installing the software on systems configured with DHCP.
After delete the environment variable I restarted the Install and it installed fine.

How to run Net Configuration Assistant on 10g Forms and Reports server
I have a Windows 2000 server with Forms and Reports Services installed from AS 10g v. 9.0.4 (just the Forms and Reports install). According to the OUI, Net Configuration Assistant 9.0.4 is also installed. However I cannot figure out how to run the Net CA. There is no shorcut that I can find. Can anyone help?
Thanks for the reply Frank. I have looked all through the Start menu but see no "Configuration and Migration". I assume it's because I only installed the Forms and Reports option, so I only have Forms Services, Reports Services, and the Universal Installer. No big deal - I've already setup tnsnames manually. I just like to use the Net Assistant when I can.

3) You won't find isqlplus on 11g, but the regular sqlplus CLI is available

I am trying to install Oracle 11gR2 on Windows 7. My latest attempt after removing some files is:

I chose the "Personal Database" option. The only other info from the error is

I have read portions of the Installation manual, and yes, I am aware of the issues with DHCP but that's how we do things here, so I'm not going to change that setting. From reading through the installation instructions, I see that the 11gR1 installation program asked for much more information, i.e., many more decisions than the 11gR2 installation program. I do not know if this is because of some choice up front that then excludes other options. Thanks.

Grid 11GR2:: [INS-20802] Oracle Net Configuration Assistant Failed
Hi Oracle DBA's.
I am trying to configure GRID comprising of 2 Nodes and the installation works without error all the way through to the end of the installer when it
errors out @ the *Oracle Net Configuration Assistant. I've built this before without hassle and cannot figure out what's causing the error, this time round.
2 Nodes (Redhat 5.4 64 Bit)
Linux jabal.example.com 2.6.18-128.el5 #1 SMP Wed Dec 17 11:41:38 EST 2008 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
jabal.example.com & jebel.example.com are the nodes.
Both the servers are clean installs and updated with all the required dependencies satisfied.
Iptables & SElinux are disabled on both nodes.
I've read a few posts on the net pointing the problem to a miconfigured /etc/hosts file, i've included mine here below for some comment?

RonaldI had a similar issue to this. It turned out the tns listener had already started on the VIP address on the first node.

Oracle Net Configuration Assistant Install Failure
I'm installing 11G R2 on Fedora 12.
The Installation got to 95% and displayed the following error

I am trying to create a database along with Oracle product installation on my linux server(86*64) by using ./runInstaller cmd.During installation i am getting the following error.

I got that error while creating database along with oracle product installation.After installation i configured the database control with EM manually by using emca command which is in $ORACLE_HOME/bin.
