HELP!
Two comments:
1. It's duplicated thread (as Daniel posted before) so why you don't post the solution to original thread?
2. -ignoreSysPrereqs is not a "universal cure for everything" and in this case -ignoreSysPrerqs is not appropriate solution.

There is a note # 833665.1 on this which states "The issue is caused by the Host Storage metrics collected by the agent" and also a Patch 8477122 has been created for this issue.
However, there is nothing mention in the Note # 833665.1 about the following one message.
Feb 2 04:07:34 ndc-m9k-2-r1 oracle[7332]: [ID 566193 user.error] n2a get_local_info: ioctl (get interface flags): Interrupted system call
Can anyone please tell me
1. whats the significance of the "oracle[7332]: [ID 566193 user.error] n2a get_local_info: ioctl (get interface flags): Interrupted system call" message in the OS log?
2. Does this message get stops on applying of patch # 8477122 ?
Thank you,
BhavinThere are a number of known issues with the 10g agent on Solaris and patches are available. I assume you are running the 10.2.0.5 agent since you reference patch 8477122. If this is a brand new agent installation i would start with applying the latest PSU update which contains many related fixes. If you are still getting the error after this, open an SR with Oracle Support with your specific error message.

Connect to Oracle 10g on a 64-bit machine
I have 64 bit Windows Server 2003 with Oracle 10g 64 bit Database Installed. I have 32 bit application installed on the same machine but the application cannot connect to the database. I tried to use Excel to test and here is the error message:
Test connection failed because of an error in initializing provider. Oracle client and networking components were not found. These components are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3 or later client software installation.
Provider is unable to function until these components are installed.
If the 32 bit application is installed on 32 bit machine, the application can connect to 64 bit Oracle Database. Need help on this.Hi,
I have 64 bit Windows Server 2003 with Oracle 10g 64 bit Database Installed. I have 32 bit application installed on the same machine but the application cannot connect to the database. Connect from Windows Client to Oracle 10g for Windows 64-bit
Have an environment currently running Oracle 10g 32-bit on Windows 2000 Standard, and need to migrate to Oracle 10g 64-bit for Windows. Users connect to the 10g 32-bit database using the Oracle Client for Windows 10g loaded on remote PC's. If we migrate to the Oracle 10g 64-bit on Windows 2003 Server Enteprise Edition 64-bit, what type of client do I have to install on the PC's to access the Oracle 10g 64-bit database?
Any ehlp/insight will be greatly appreciated.
Eduardo in MichiganIn addition to install 32-bit Oracle client to 32-bit Windows OS, you need to know whether your application is compiled to run in 32-bit or 64-bit.
This is critical because 32-bit application can not see 64-bit Oracle ODBC and OLE DB provider.
For example, MS SQL Server 2005 uses 32-bit DTS, and SSIS, which needs 32-bit Oracle client
If you don't know, get a copy of both 32-bit and 64-bit Oracle client, and try one-by-one to know for sure. Please be aware that if regsvr32.exe in the Windows has been overwritten by older software installation, it won't register some DLL properly, and Oracle ODBC, or OLE DB won't show up as well -
Oracle 10g Express Edition / 64-bit client
hi all,
I have Oracle 10g express edition installed on a remote Vista/32-bit machine. I installed the XE Client on a Vista/64-bit and got the following error:
UnsatistifiedLinkError: ocijdbc10.dll: Can't load IA 32-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform.
So, I tried installing the Instant Client (64-bit) and I'm getting a similiar error:
UnsatistifiedLinkError: ocijdbc10.dll: Can't load IA 64-bit .dll on a AMD 64-bit platform.
Using the XE Client, I'm able to login using sqlplus. Anyone have any ideas ??
thanks jim

user584351Hi Jim, unless something has changed recently - the installation instructions for XE specifically state it is for a 32-bit windows operating system. Also, it does not mention using Vista. If you have access to the 10g Express forum they may have more information there for you.

Does Oracle 10g come in 32 bit ?
I am trying to compile my source code shared libraries in Oracle 10g 64 bit. These libraries are not available on 64 bit.
Can I degrade Oracle 10g 64 bit to 32 bit ? I am using Miami library which are proprietary software and not available in 64 bit.32-bit 11gR2 software for Solaris can be downloaded from My Oracle Support (https://support.oracle.com), access to which requires a paid Support contract. Same applies to 10gR2 since it now past Premier Support

Oracle 10g Shared Server Problem Please Help
Hi
I am studying for Oracle 10g OCP ; I was trying to start the shared server feature of oracle10g ver 10.2.0.
The database name is :CERTIFICATION10g
The listener name is: LISTENER_CERTIFICATION10g Port:1521
I could register the dispatchers successully with the listener above. However when I open a new connection ; instead of going through the dispatcher it uses the dedicated connection. I tried opening many sessions but the established filed for both dispatchers remained 0
I post a dump of the lsnrctl services command below:
LSNRCTL> service listener_certification10g

The last event is something Oracle logs per default. Every time someone logs in with sysdba privileges, it is logged to the event log. Read more in the manual
Security guide, chapter 8
Try to check the parameter
AUDIT_TRAIL
in the database
show parameter AUDIT_TRAIL
If it is set to OS and you have enabled auditing, then more events are written to the event log.
Best wishes,
Kennie

ORA-16038: log 2 sequence# 44103 cannot be archived
ORA-19809: limit exceeded for recovery files
ORA-00312: online log 2 thread 1: 'D:\ORADATA\ASDB\REDO02.LOG'
Please guide and help
Thanks,
Waheed. The error stack is interpreted as follows:
ORA-16038: log string sequence# string cannot be archived
Cause: An attempt was made to archive the named file, but the file could not be archived. Examine the secondary error messages to determine the cause of the error.
Action: No action is required
ORA-19809: limit exceeded for recovery files
Cause: The limit for recovery files specified by the DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE was exceeded.
Action: The error is accompanied by 19804. See message 19804 for further details.
ORA-19804: cannot reclaim string bytes disk space from string limit
Cause: Oracle cannot reclaim disk space of specified bytes from the DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE limit.
Action: There are five possible solutions: 1) Take frequent backup of recovery area using RMAN. 2) Consider changing RMAN retention policy. 3) Consider changing RMAN archivelog deletion policy. 4) Add disk space and increase DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE. 5) Delete files from recovery area using RMAN.
ORA-00312: online log string thread string: 'string'
Cause: This message reports the filename for details of another message.
Action: Other messages will accompany this message. See the associated messages for the appropriate action to take.
DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST_SIZE specifies (in bytes) the hard limit on the total space to be used by target database recovery files created in the flash recovery area. You should increase this value.
On the other hand, out from the context I guessed it is a 10gRx database, but you should specify this on your thread, as well as specify os details.
