  • Oracle 10g Scheduled Backup

    Hai,
I submitted a job using oracle 10g feature of scheduled backup feature in Windows environment.
When I selected the option of disk the screen displays the message that the backup will be in Flash Recovery Area in Windows environment.
Please let me know in what extension the file will be created and the entire path where the backup file will be stored. (windows environment)
    Thanks and Regards,
    A.Mohammed Rafi.

You will get directory Flash_recovery_area under ORACLE_BASE env variable.
You can do Sho Parameter Flash_recover_area.Format is depends upon which format u have given or you are using default format.clear which one recovery files u are looking for .

  • Oracle 10g Scheduler, the Auto Task Job Class

When we are assign to a job to the auto task JOB Class on Oracle 10g scheduler, please advise what exactly we are asking Oracle to do?
From what I read from my text book, by assigning a job to a Job Class we can control the following..
Resource_Consumer_Group : Determine how much resources being allocate to the job
Logging_Level: Determine the detailing level of logging
Log_history: Determine how long the logged data should be retained
For auto task, what are the value on these paremeters set to?
    Thanks,

By default, jobs are assigned to DEFAULT_JOB_CLASS.
You can see attributes for the class from:
    SELECT * FROM   dba_scheduler_job_classes;

  • Host Credential Problem

I try restarting my 10g db. I have given the proper OS and DB credentials but the system still tells me that the host credentials are incorrect. I can't figure it out and it's driving me nuts.
Any insight as to how I can track down a fix?

    hi,
were you able to save your problem. I am also trying providing host credential in OEM by providing OS user name & password of user which I used to login to machine where oracle is running but it says wrong username/password.

  • Error in Oracle 10g Sechedule Backup

    Hi,
I'm having a problem regarding the backup system of Oracle 10g. As I reach the "Schedule Backup-Scheduled" page and press the "Next" button, I get an "Error on page" in the status bar and from that point, I cannot continue.
Please advice me what I should do to avoid this? Or what have I done wrong?
Because of this, I cannot continue my backup process.

all errors are logged, you have a lot of log files to look at, that's why I did not specify one.
On unix, you can find it with something like
find <OEMGCHOME> -type f -mtime -1 -ls | grep log
then grep for your error. It require some research, but it provides a lot of info.
Personnaly, I discovered once that my oem was not working correctly because of an "alter session" I did put in the login.sql. OEM RMAN 10.1.0.2 also does not like non-standard territories/language.

  • Oracle 10g database backup & recovery

    Hi,
How can i take backup of our oracle 10g database by copy its physical database file and how can i restore them from these files.
is any Strategy other then RMAN??
    Regards
    Raj
    Delhi

Can you afford to shutdown the database? If yes, do a cold backup.
    1. Do a clean "shutdown immediate"
    2. Copy All the Datafiles, Controlfile, Redo Log Files, Spfile/Init files using Operating System command to a required location
    When you want to recover
Just copy the files back to the original destinations and statup the database. But ou hav eto know that if you copied your file by 11:00 on 25/08/06. And you loose your database on 27/08/06, you can only recover back to 25/08/06.
If you cannot afford to shut down your database or loose data, best to run your database in Archivelog Mode. Schedule and use RMAN to do a hot backup at specified time automatically. The advantage is that you do not have to shutdown your database to get a consistent backup like teh cold backup.

  • Oracle Express scheduled backup hangs

    Hello,
We are using Oracle Express 10g and everytime it tries to run a scheduled backup, the server freezes and needs to be restarted; there are no errors to report. However, when we run the backup manually (from the web interface), it works just fine.
Has anyone else encountered this before? Any suggestions?
    Thanks!
    Katrina Bryant.

windows or linux? Hot backup? Ok whats the difference between when it runs manually, and when it runs from the scheduler?
    Environment settings?
Windows -> userID running the task belongs fo the ora_dba group?
linux -> via a crontab job? (and userID is a member of the dba group?) add the needed environment variables to the script that runs the backup?

Hello guys, yesterday I installed 10g on my RHEL 5.3 successfully though some minor problems there, which I hope I will rectify on next installation.
    I have few BIG doubts...
I learnt Oracle on windows platform. The directory structure on that platform is still in my mind and I can't relate it with Linux oracle's directory structure ...
    Oracle Base is - /u01/app/oracle
    Oracle Inventory is - /u01/app/oraInventory
Whats the basic difference between OracleBase, OracleInventory and OracleHome ?
I created directory as per guide here - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15660/toc.htm ... but when I install, few directories wont be used like /u01/oradata ...
Where are trace files, pfile, dump files, archive files, etc stores. I found control, dbf and log files under
    /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/oradata/orcl/
Can you guys please help me understanding the Oracle File Structure on Linux. Its bit complex yet interesting. Waiting for some guides.
Edited by: sachinaddy on Nov 29, 2010 11:54 PMORACLE_BASE is an environment variable used as base directory for an OFA installation. On Unix systems, this is usually /app/oracle or /u01/app/oracle.
    ORACLE_HOME refers to either:
a directory where the Oracle software is installed; or
an environment variable pointing to the directory where the Oracle software is installed.
    Check current value:
    $env | grep ORACLE_HOME
    $env | grep ORACLE_BASE
    ORACLE INVENTORY
inventory stores information about all Oracle software products installed in all Oracle homes on a machine, provided the product was installed using OUI or oraInst.
you can find the bdump, udump, cdump folders in the location
/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/admin/orcl/you can also check the bdump, udump location by
    SQL> show parameter user_dump_dest

  • Oracle 10g express edition browser login problem

    Hi
I installed oracle 10g express edition and after installing successfully logged in browser , unlocked hr login and also created one form then I shutdown the database and rebooted my pc and since then when I try to login to "go to Database Home page" after starting database , I get a cookie 127.0.0.1 with username and password, First of all I am not sure what username/password it is expecting, I believe it requires my Windows XP username and password , I tried to enter couple of times my pc login username which has administrator privileges, I also checked it has ora_dba group but after entering pc username , password browser opens saying "unauthorized". I created another os user and tried with that still same. I tried entering oracle password "SYSTEM" and password for it but still could not login, I tried HR username password still nothing.
I tried disabling firewall but still same issue. I tried to re-install two time but still same .
Start database dos prompt does show all the process are started successfully .
I also did ping for 127.0.0.1 and it does ping.
I tried everything what I knew.
Can anyone please help me ..to resolve this issue .

    Hi
This is how I resolved the browser login problem .
    I checked the listener log
    C:\OracleXE\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\NETWORK\log
    And found the error
    TNS-12542: TNS:address already in use
    TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
    TNS-00512: Address already in use
I have another version for oracle installed on my pc .
I ended both the oracle process (Oracle.exe) through the Task Manager
Then manually started “OracleServiceXe” service through Component Services
Control Panel – Performance & Maintenance – Administrative – Component Services
    Then did following
Programs – Oracle Database10g ExpressEdition – Start Database
Programs – Oracle Databse10g ExpressEdition – Go to Database Homepage –
    Enter username SYSTEM
Enter password xxxxxx … whatever given at the time of installing.
And I did successfully login to the browser .
Hope this will help to those of you who have run into similar problem which I faced

  • External table in Oracle 10g and Windows server 2003 problem

I'm having a problem accessing an external table in an Oracle 10g and Windows 2003 server environment. The disk is remote (mapped) to the server. It's the usual access errors, kup-04001 or kup-04063.
I have the [seemingly] exact same setup in an Oracle 9i and Windows 2000 server environment which works perfectly. Services run as local SYSTEM and SYSTEM has full permissions on the disk. Directories exist and so do the permissions to the directories.
In the Oracle 10g and Windows 2003 environment, services run as local SYSTEM and SYSTEM has full permissions on the mapped disk. Directories exist and so do the permissions to the directories.
This obviously effects mappings, deployments, etc.
Does anyone know if something changed in either the db or the os?
    Thank you,
    Michael

    Thank you for your reply.
Your proposal is the standard solution. As a matter of fact, that's how it is on my "old" system. Server "A" Oracle services are started by SYSTEM. Server "B" Oracle services are started by SYSTEM and is where the flat files reside. SYSTEM has full permissions on a disk local to Server "B". Database directoriies defined on Server "A" point to Server "B" remote disk. External Tables on Server "A" are defined with directories that point to Server "B" remote (mapped) disk. I have no problems with this configuration.
I'm having a problem acheiving the same configuration with Oracle 10g and Windows 2003. I guess I'm baffled over the fact it isn't working the same way as my "old" environment. Why shouldn't it? Oracle (and you) want me to start services as a specific user. It shouldn't have to be that way unless something changed in the way the database makes calls to the os or if Microsoft slipped something in with one of it's numerous security patches.

  • How  to get the oracle 10g database backup.

    Hi,
i have installed oracle 10g.i need to get the back up of db.
i have search so many sites.i didn't get much information.
some guys tells we go to installed directory in that run"RAMNS".
i am following in the process.after run the rams which commands
i have to used to get the db back up.
    C:\Oracle\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\BIN\RAMNS
RAMNS>...(here is the prob which commands i have to used)
i have seen another way solution is you can use "imp" and "exp" present in BIN to take back up.(how to follow this)
    please help me,

Would suggest you read the docs on backup, restore. if you cannot restore you db, you are in trouble. read it and understand it well.
    Summary:
For 10g, you have rman, imp/exp and datapump import/export (replaces imp/exp).
For very simple backups where you have windows you can shut down, run a cold backup. shutdown the database, copy the database files, and startup. i also take copies of the current pfile and anything else important to restore the database with. we copy the files to a dedicated backup file system, which go to tap, e.
That will give you a simple option to restore.
For prod databases, you typically want archive mode on which means you can run hot or online backups. just remember you have to have the archive logs generated during the hot backup. you now also have the ability to do a point in time restore.
Exp or datapump exp can be used for metadata exports, full exports or partial (schema, table, etc) as needed. i typically run a cold or hot plus an export for redundacy and restore options, but db size will change how you back things up.
You can find plenty of scripts to automate these. just understand how the scripts work and understand the process itself. if not, you will have trouble restoring when it is needed the most.
Rman is also a good option with the latest releases.

  • Oracle 10G upgrade and MRP planning problems

We just upgraded to Oracle 10G and are having users complaining about MRP not planning in correct low level code sequence. What has happened is that the MRP is planning component parts before the parent parts. We have never had this occur before and are on 4.6C hot pack 38. Help!!

    Hi,
There are some Post-Upgrade Tasks like set compatible, db stats, check invalid objects, removing some database parameters, etc.  Make sure you perform these if you have not, please refer to your specific Oracle upgrade guide.

  • Host Credential Problem in Oracle 10g on Windows

    Hi,
I have another problem that is really bothering me. I
have tried using Oracle database 10g on Windows XP and
it works fine till you shut down and attempt to
restart (or any administrative task)with the EM. It
asks for the Database and Host credentials but always
rejects the Host credentials. Now because i only have
the Administrator as the OS user, i try to give this
user and it's password and it still doesn't accept
    that.
What could be the problem??? I infact have realized
that this problem is NOT there if i use 10.1.0 on Red
Hat Linux AS 3 because for the host credentials i use
the OS user Oracle and the password (Owner of Oracle
    Installation)and it goes through fine.
In Windows, what should i do to rectify this problem.
Or is it a bug with Oracle on Windows. Or where should
i get the relevant Host credentials Oracle requests on
Windows or should i create a user??? Please
