Oracle 11 without patch
Hi,
I recently installed sap ehp5 with oracle 11.
i have installed oracle 11 database software and then i started SAPINST.
Installation went fine ,,i have a doubt here, is it mandatory to install oracle patch.
i can see the oracle version in SAP Screen as 11.0.2.0.
As the installation of SAP has finished, can i install the patch now.
pls suggest..
Thanx

Hello Irfan,
Yes, please go ahead, you can install the latest patch now and you should in fact, before releasing the system Live.
Please install the latest SBP (Software bundle patch) for Oracle 11.2.0.2, corresponding to your OS platform. You may find some link and notes in your installation guide itself, if you don't -
service.sap.com/swdc --> Database Patches --> Oracle --> Oracle 11.2.0.2 --> Database RDBMS --> your OS (AIX for e.g.) --> SAP_112023_201109_AIX.zip
All installation instructions should be there in the README.txt file which you get after extraction of this ZIP file.
And please Read the Note 1503709 - Oracle 11.2.0: Patches / Patch collections for 11.2.0.2 thoroughly to plan in a better way.
Thanks

You may have to compile ruby...(/usr/local/bin/*) like I did. This worked for me.
If you already did this, everything will be groovy. Then if you are having trouble with mysql see this: http://hivelogic.com/articles/compiling-mysql-on-snow-leopard/ -

I updated a working Podcast Server recently and now it doesn't work.
I'm getting:
Ruby threads cannot be used in RubyCocoa without patches to the Ruby interpreter
Any thoughts on how to fix it.You can safely ignore the "Ruby threads cannot be used in RubyCocoa without patches to the Ruby interpreter" message, it has nothing to do with the problems you are having.
Can you give us more details? Can you not start recordings, are recordings not beings processed, etc? -

Does Oracle Forms Patch 10 apply to Oracle 8i or do you have to be on 9i? Also, does applying patch 10, catch you up on all previous patches (1-9)?.
The latest Forms 6i patch is 12. It is not 8, 8i or 9i specific. You need to check the related certification matrix and review the patch readme file to find out if the fixed bugs valid for your platform/configuration. For example, if you are running Forms 6i against a 9.2 database, the only certified 6i patch is 12.
The patches are cumulative - patch 12 includes previous patch fixes.
hope this proves useful

Does anybody have instructions on how to install oracle 9205 patch on windows 2000
Thanks in advanceBut if you're too lazy to read through em;
* drop XMLCONCAT public synonym and function.
* remove stats from sys-schema:
dbms_stats.delete_schema_stats('SYS');
* stop all Oracle-stuff.
* start installer from patch.
* install oui 10.... if not yet installed.
* install patch.
* startup migrate database
* run $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catpatch.sql
* shutdown
* startup
* gather stats on sys-schema:
dbms_stats.gather_schema_stats('SYS');
That should be it, if I remember correctly :) -
Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - January 2013
Hi all,
11.2.0.3
Oracle Critical Patch Update - January 2013
I am confused about CPU, PSU, SPU, USP. I am reading the docs and it seems they are same thing being rambled?
Which of them is the most important to apply?
Thanks,
PetraKThanks gotti and fahd
I already ask the support and he gave me docs to follow. But the more I am confused with lots of added process.
Can you validate if the process is correct? My Goal is just to comply with our IT Sec Auditor to apply the latest patch. The auditor does not even know what is the name of the patch as long as it the current updates. So I think he is referring to PSU or SPU or CPU.
This is the process I got from support:
1 Appy Oracle Database Patch Set Update (11.2.0.3.8)
1.1 Download and install latest RDA and run and send the output.
1.2 Download and install latest OPatch and list the current inventory.
1.3 Check java version
1.4 Check and Resolve PSU conflict
1.5 Backup the current OracleHome as "root"
1.6 Stop Listener, EM, and all DB Instances
1.7 Apply PSU
1.8 Resolve errors if any.
End.
So It seems I only need to apply PSU? which is 11.2.0.3.8? -

How fast text search field in Oracle without using Intermedia? Thank you, Paul.
yes,it is overriden in VOImpl
public void executeQuery()
setQuery((new StringBuilder()).append(selectStmt).append(" order by ").append(getOrderByClause()).toString());
OAApplicationModuleImpl oaapplicationmoduleimpl = (OAApplicationModuleImpl)getApplicationModule();
OAApplicationModuleImpl _tmp = oaapplicationmoduleimpl;
if(oaapplicationmoduleimpl.isLoggingEnabled(1))
OAApplicationModuleImpl _tmp1 = oaapplicationmoduleimpl;
oaapplicationmoduleimpl.writeDiagnostics((new StringBuilder()).append(getClass().getName()).append(".executeQuery").toString(), (new StringBuilder()).append(" Query:").append(getQuery()).toString(), 1);
super.executeQuery();
But I have extended VO and substituted the VO . In the substituted VOImpl, instead of executeQuery(),I have written
public void customExecuteQuery()
setQuery((new StringBuilder()).append(selectStmt).append(" order by ").append(getOrderByClause()).toString());
executeQuery();
Will this work,or do I need to do any changes?
