Errors while copying File Oracle 11G installation on AIX 5L
Hi,
I just try to install oralce 11g on my AIX 5l machine. All requirements has been checked and are done.
While installation I get many Errors like "File not find:"
/oracle/SID/..../applications/WFMLRSVCApp.ear , wfjvlsnr.csh, wfmgrstop.csh ..etc.
I am Installing fresh Oracle 11G.What could be the problem?
Could you please give me some hints.
Many Thanks
MeteMake sure you unzip both zipfiles into the SAME directory, e.g.:
cd /<whatever>
$ unzip aix.ppc64_11gR1_database_1of2.zip
$ unzip aix.ppc64_11gR1_database_2of2.zip
$ cd database
$ ./runInstaller

Rootpre.sh with Oracle 11G Installation on AIX 6.1
We are upgrading to Oracle 11G from Oracle 10.2.0.4 on AIX 6.1 and ECC6.
We are running Oracle 10G and SAP application while installing 11G
Oracle binaries (obviously in a new oracle 11G home) , while
installing Oracle 11G binaries we have to run rootpre.sh , Just
wondering if we have to shut down existinig oracle 10G while running rootpre.sh for
11G.
Based on the above answer,we need to plan the upgrade as this
will decide the length of downtime with Oracle upgrade, your reply will
be highly appreciated.
Thanks,

Oracle 11g upgrade in AIX 6.1 with HACMP
Hi Friends,
As i have two Power Servers running in AIX 6.1 with oracle 10g in HACMP in which SAP application is running.
The one is standalone Database and other is central Instance.
I have done the 11g upgrades successfully in my DEV and QAS servers which are non-cluster Environment.
Now i want to do the same upgrade in PRD which is in HACMP.
Please let me know what are the areas should i concentrate specially for cluster environment servers.
Thanks,

Oracle 11g on IBM-AIX 5.3 LPAR with VIO-server
Hi
We are researching the implementation of Oracle RAC 11g on an IBM LPAR solution running IBM AIX 5.3 TL06
These LPAR's use a VIO-server for I/O access.
Now the one document says VIO isn't supported for Oracle RAC, the other document says it is, and jet another states it is only supported for use with ASM
Can someone point me to a site with actual support information and/or can anyone tell me if RAC actually works on a LPAR with a VIO-server
Thanks in AdvanceIBM AIX 5.3 VIO is currently supported for all Oracle products, database and/or ERP including certain RAC Configurations as documented in Metalink certify.
Check metalink note 282036.1
If You want to use RAC, then 10.2.0.3 RAC or higher must be used and only the Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) feature is approved for Oracle RAC and VIOS configurations.
No other restrictions.
In Your case You can use 11g RAC with VIO, but don't forget that ASM should be used as well. -
Hello All,
I am new to RAC installations. I want to install Oracle RAC 11g R2 on an AIX server.
Please can you provide me a link with the detailed and easy steps to follow and install Oracle 11g R2 on AIX.
i am cheking the Oracle Installation guide, but it is not easy and it does not include the detailed steps; for ex what to add to the hosts file..

I am also using easysoft driver for the connection. But I am uhnable to connect to Oracle 11g server from AIX 5.3 using instantclient_11_1 client
libraries. I get the error "Could not load oracle libraries". Error is as below:

WARNING: HY000: [unixODBC][Easysoft][Oracle]Could not load oracle libraries
But I could connect to the same server from AIX 5.3 machine using instantclient_10_2 libraries and same eaysoft drivers successfully.
Looks like there is issue with connecting with instantclient_11_1 client libraries from AIX 5.3. I also tried with using 11.1.0.6.0. Same issue is observed.
Did anybody else face similar issue?
Thanks and Regards,

Edited by: user6404935 on Jan 27, 2010 9:47 PMI you find nobody who has the same problem, here are some hints:
- Try to connect using "sqlplus" from the instant client. If that fails, there is probably a problem with your setup.
- Look if the Easysoft driver supports Oracle 11.1 as client.

Hi Basis Expert,
We have done a oracle 11g (11.2.0.2) upgrade in our Mock system.
Can anybody tell me how to uninstall oracle 11g software in AIX 5.3.
I tried searching google but couldnt find it.
Please help me.
Regards,
AnilHi,
Uninstalling all products from UNIX is a lot more consistent. If you do need to resort to a manual uninstall you should do something like:
Uninstall all Oracle components using the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI).
Stop any outstanding processes using the appropriate utilities.
oemctl stop oms user/password
agentctl stop
lsnrctl stop
Alternatively you can kill them using the kill -9 pid command as the root user.
Delete the files and directories below the $ORACLE_HOME.
cd $ORACLE_HOME
rm -Rf *
With the exception of the product directory, delete directories below the $ORACLE_BASE.
cd $ORACLE_BASE
rm -Rf admin doc jre o*
Delete the /etc/oratab file. If using 9iAS delete the /etc/emtab file also.
rm /etc/oratab /etc/emtab

No rootpre.sh file found in Oracle 11g r1 download for AIX
I downloaded the 11.1.0.6.0 version of Oracle 11g from the website and unzipped it with the unzip_aix on a Power7 system. The files were unzipped into a directory called database. I could not find the rootpre.sh script anywhere. What am I missing?
The download site mentions a rootpre_aix.zip file for downloads prior to January 2008... confused and unexperienced. Wouldn't any download be after 2008?
Edited by: user8962451 on Apr 2, 2010 7:34 AMSame here. The installation instructions for Oracle in AIX is asking to run the preRoot.sh. Where can I get it this file, since I do not have Oracle CD.

Xlc file Required for Oracle Product Installation on AIX 6.1
Hi All,
I am trying to install Oracle 11g Forms & Reports on AIX 6.1 [TL12].
I have installed JDK and Weblogic Server without any Errors.
When we reach 93% on software Alone installation with 11g Forms & Reports, we got some error
ERROR IN INVOKING TARGET 'RELINK' OF MAKEFILE '///INS_PRECOMP.mk'We raised a SR for this Error, Oracle Support given one solution to follow.
>
Yes, there is a known issue with AIX OS.
Before starting the Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g Classic installation on IBM AIX, check for "xlc" availability on the system. It should be present either under /usr/bin/ or under >/usr/vac/bin directory.
If /usr/vac/bin/xlc is present, create the following symlink as root user:
# ln -s /usr/vac/bin/xlc /usr/local/bin/xlc
If /usr/bin/xlc is present, create the following symlink as root user:
# ln -s /usr/bin/xlc /usr/local/bin/xlc
Please clean up the failed install and start new install once you follow the above steps and let me know the results. But Unfortunately in our AIX 6.1 Box we dont have any 'XLC', in any of the folder in entire file system.
What is this XLC ?? if that is not available how to create the SYMLINK ?
Kindly Some one Advice me.
Regards,
PajaHi Paja,
I would recommend you o post this thread under application server/weblogic forum.

Hi everyone, I read that ABAP program can call a standalone JAVA program. Is it possible to call a servlet (and of course passing parameters) instead of a standalone JAVA program ? Thanks.
