Oracle 11g R1(11.1) Database Upgrade Guide.

Where can I find the SAP documentation for:
Database Upgrade guide > Upgrade to Oracle Database 11g Release 1(11.1):UNIX.
I am able to find Upgrade to Oracle Database 11g Release 2(11.2).  We are planning to upgrade to 11g Release 1(11.1) and I am not able to find any SAP documentation for 11g Release 1(11.1):
Does SAP support 11g Release 1(11.1)?
We are using Business Object XIR3 and want to upgrade from Oracle 9i to Oracle 11g R1.
Thanks

We are using Oracle 9i for our Business Object repository for CMS / Audit repository purpose and we want to upgrade to Oracle 11g. What is the impact of this upgrade (from Oracle 9i to Oracle 11g) on Business Object repository?
Can you please provide some information for upgrade to Oracle 11g R2 and impact on business Object Repository?
Bellow is information about our platform:
-          The BOE XI 3.1 installation is on Sun Solaris.
-          Upgrading from Oracle 9i to Oracle 11g to be used for CMS / Audit repository purpose.
-          We want to use Oracle 11g for CMS repository and reporting purposes.
Thanks,
Sherry

  • Oracle 11g upgrade prerequisite fails for all the values

    Hi,
We have planned Oracle upgrade from 10.2.0.4 to 11.2.0.2. We have
followed the upgrade guide Database Upgrade Guide "Upgrade to Oracle Database 11g Release 2 (11.2): UNIX". Our OS versionis HP-UX ia64 B.11.31. According to the upgrade guide we have set all the environment vairables. And started the Oracle 11.2.0.2 software installation prerequisite with the command " ./RUNINSTALLER -check " The result of the prerequisite check was giving the all the parameters are failed. But the parameters like Physical memory, orasid user also showing failed eventhough we are having 16 GB of physical memory & we logged on
with orasid it self and all the parameters are showing failed.
We have check the Oracle metalink note#169706.1,  According to the note we have valid version of HP-UX 11.31 and some patches are already installed and some of them are not installed. But the prerequisite check showing all the patches are in failed state irrespective of some installed patches.

  • Upgrade ASM Oracle 10.2.0.4.0 to ASM Oracle 11G R2 on Windows 2008 SP2

Please advice on procedure or where I can find information on upgrading ASM from Oracle 10G to Oracle 11G R2 (Winwdows 2008 SP2 64bit environment) for mutiple Oracle instances (not a RAC environrment).
The current scenario is as follow:
    - Two oracle homes; one for ASM instance and another for the Oracle Databases (in current case only two oracle instances possiblly more at a later time). Both (ASM and Oracle databases) have the same version of Oracle 10.2.4.0.
The Oracle database home can't be upgraded due to application restricition (Vendor Application not tested on Oracle 11G) but will like to upgrade the ASM instance to Oracle 11G (Oraclle 11G R2).
    Questions:
    - Is is a feasable solution? Can I upgrade ASM instance to Oracle 11G R2 to take advantage of new features? Will the ASM upgrade scenario is compatible with the Oracle Database Instance running Oracle 10G? Any possible issues that I should be aware or concerns?
Is it possible to have ASM running in Oracle 11G R2 and service the need of Oracle database instance running in 10G?
Please advice or where I can obtained information on the matter. Also possibly if someone has done it on Windows 2008 SP2 (not Windows 2008R2).
    Thanks in advance

Thanks so I can upgrade the ASM Home instance and leave the Oracle Databases home on Oracle 10.2.0.4.
I agree with you not just 100%, actually 120%. Fortunately, the vendor is finally understanding by pressure provided by DBAs and Application Teams that they are very behind the curve. It is working and by summer we should have an oracle 11G compatible product.
The same thought went when I was told of their compatability database level.

  • Terminology differences between MSSQL 2005/2008 and Oracle 11g

I'm looking for some articles/books/webinars/blogs which discuss the terminology differences between MSSQL 2005/2008 and Oracle 11g in terms of database concepts. I have found this article http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/SQL+Server/67007 so far.
    Thanks.

Thanks sb92075. Those returned results are almost all related to compare the features/functionalities between MSSQL and Oracle not to distinguish the terminology differences between them.

  • Potentialy serious problem with Oracle 11g R1

Today i have download to try Oracle 11g , my system supports database system
requirerments and into installation progress my antivirus software find some troyan horses and my antivirus software is ordinary not powerfull .Do someone have the same problem?

Yes, Trojan found in ott.exe. I believe this may be a false alarm because of its filename, which is the name of a known malware. Only some antivirus detected it.
Since it's just one file, use whatever your antivirus has for isolating it, or just delete it.

  • Oracle 11g RESULT_CACHE_MODE

Oracle 11g has the RESULT_CACHE_MODE database parameter.
This parameter can have 3 values : MANUAL, FORCE and AUTO.
Strangely enough in the documentation only MANUAL and FORCE are described:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28274/memory.htm#PFGRF10121
What does the AUTO value do?

    Hi Peter,
Lutz Hartman has these notes, and a great example too.
Lutz sez that the default is "manual":
    http://sysdba.wordpress.com/2007/09/11/my-top-10-oracle-11g-new-features-part-4-the-sql-query-result-cache/
There are three different modes you can use and they are managed with the initialization parameter RESULT_CACHE_MODE. This parameter is dynamic and can be changed with ALTER SYSTEM and ALTER SESSION.
The default is MANUAL and it is also possible to use AUTO and FORCE. With force every result is stored in the result cache. With Auto the optimizer makes the descision what to cache.
    Hope this helps. . .

  • Heterogeneous System Copy from MS SQL to Oracle 11g

    Good day friends,
I am currently in the stage of running SAPINST to continue the System Copy to the Target (i.e. the export is complete).
This may seem like a rudimentary question, but I am trying to implement Oracle 11g as the new database (and the SAP version of ECC 5). Now when I execute the sapinst, I only get the option for the Client on 9.2 and the RDBMS on 10.2.0.4.
I would like to specify 10.2 for the Client and 11g for the RDBMS, but those options are not included in the SAPINST. What must I do to get these options in the SAPINST?
    Any help would be welcome.
    Thanks.

I have run a system export from MSSQL and Windows Server, and I wish to run the import to Red Hat 5.4 and Oracle 11g.
I have used the latest ECC 5 Installation Master disk, which still does not have the option to install Oracle 11g. In fact, it only has the option to install Oracle 10g with an Oracle Client version 9. Surely there must be a newer option with Oracle Client 10?
Here is the product code for the Inst Master I downloaded.
