Oracle 11g setup.exe

I downloaded the files for windows 64bit and unzipped them. When I double clicked on the setup.exe all it did was flash the command prompt and that was it. Any ideas?

  • Error INstalling Oracle 11g on Windows8 64 bit

    Hi Geeks,
I have windows 8 64 bit sony Via system.
I want to install oracle 11g on it.
I have downloaded the setup in my E:\Oracle 11g setup.
Now I get two folder post unzipping the two archivwe files
    E:\Oracle 11g setup\win64_11gR2_database_1of2\
    E:\Oracle 11g setup\win64_11gR2_database_2of2
Now the doubt that I have is there are database folder in each of the two folder , so is it necessary to copy and paste database folder from second directory I,e *"E:\Oracle 11g setup\win64_11gR2_database_2of2"* into the first directory...for continuing with the installation ???????????

Thanks Guys for your response..I have managed to install 11g on my system and runnig the queries succesfully now..
    What i did is :
1] Created a new folder "oracle Install".
2]ctrl+ selected both the zip files i had downloaded from Oracle site and then uncompressed them into "oracle Install".
3] then ran the setup from Oracle Install...
while doing this process also i got warning lime system dosent meets the requirements....but continued with the installation and it ran succesfully...
what was different this time was previously when i had not done above 3 steps installation would fail saying some of the .dll files not found...but after this approach no file not found issues came...
Lucky to have it installed ...
If you consider it lucky to be running on an certified OS, where every issue you may run into will mean having to hack your own solution.
When IBM upgraded their COBOL to COBOL-85 they warned that - due to very tight linkages between the compiler and the OS - if we remained with the older compiler "everything will continue to work as before, until such time as it doesn't".
I'd say that's a very close analogy, and for exactly the same reasons. Tight linkage between the product and the OS. You hacked an installation, so things will work .... until such time as they don't.
Would want to install a VM ware on my system and then Linux OS..then try installing Oracle on it too..

    Hi
I am trying to install Oracle 11g R2 on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. When I execute setup.exe as Administrator the command window flashes and exits. I could not even see what the message is. Also tried command prompt. Can anyone help me resolve this issue?

    Finally the install is successful.Congratulations.
And thank you for posting your solution. The security issue was quite a surprise to me as well, although it ties into a PC World article I read today.
To continue, please make sure you have a static IP address. If your system uses DHCP, that may mean setting up Loopback Adapter, configuring a static IP address other than 127.0.0.1 for that (for example you can use 192.168.123.101), and updating C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. (note - no 3 char 'type on the hosts file) to include an entry like '192.168.123.101 myhost.example.com myhost', and perhaps setting your ORACLE_HOSTNAME variable. This is all described well in the Install documentaiton at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e10843/reqs.htm#BABIAEEC

  • Setup.exe does not execute - Oracle 10g on windows xp!?

    Hello,
I have a problem while installing Oracle 10g Release 2 on my XP-prefessional machine (including service pack 2). By doubleclicking the autorun-file the openingdialog pops up, but after I chossed Installation nothing happens - the same by starting the setup.exe - also from the dos-box. I shut down my AntiVir and the ZoneAlarm-Firewall and tried again without success. Maybe sombody had the same problem. Big thanx for every help.
I would be glad to get an error but absolutly nothing happens!

Installing on Windows is pretty simple, unless there is something that prevents the java environment from starting the console. Check the path environment variable and make sure there are no other jdk mixed. Check that the windows security doesn't prevent the oui console from starting, it happens that the windows security blocks java applications, and if you asked it to do it by clicking accept, then it won't start.

  • Oracle 9iLite download setup.exe file does not work

Like many people (I am discovering more by the minute), I am unable to install 9i Lite.5.01. When the setup.exe file is triggered, a hourglass appears for a second, then nothing...
I am installing on a windows 2000 terminal server, therefore I have to go through (Control Panel) Add/Remove Programs. The Oracle Universal Installer says that setup.exe is either a directory or is corrupt.
I have tried a couple of fixes suggested in this forum, such as unzipping the files to /install/disk, but to no avail. I have also tried downloading the software again, but with the same results.
Is there anyone out there who has successfully overcome this problem ?

Yes, there has been a problem reported with setup.exe on the Pentium 4 processor.
To overcome the problem, copy the contents of the CD on to your hard drive.
Then search for every occurence of the file symcjit.dll under the base directory where u have copied from your CD.
    and rename them to symcjit.old.
    Then launch setup.exe.
This should take care of the problem

  • Oracle 9i download setup.exe problem

Downloaded and unzipped Disk1, Disk2, Disk3 per instructions, but when I try to run setup.exe, I get an hourglass for two seconds, then nothing happens at all. Running Win2k Pro.

We has a similar problem with 8.1.7. Is your machine a Pentium 4? If so, it may be similar to the problem we had.
The advice we got from Oracle support was as follows:
--There are known issues where Oracle Universal Installer(OUI) hangs on Pentium IV
--machines. Any Oracle Universal Installer 1.7.1.9.0 and earlier installation on a
--platform that uses the Intel Pentium 4 processor, with the Sun JRE and Symantec
--Just in Time Library (JIT) will encounter this problem. Windows NT is confirmed
--to be affected by this issue.
--Please refer to <Note:131299.1> which suggests three possible workarounds for
    --this issue.
--Currently there is not a patched Installer available to deal with this problem.
--Hence I'm afraid one of the workarounds listed above has to be used.
You'll need to go to metalink to look at the note if this does apply.
    Hope this helps,

  • Oracle 11g new insatllation - perl.exe issues

    Hi all,
I have recently installed oracle 11g. It was running fine for a few days and then i get errors like 'TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor'. I checked this out and the reason i get these errors is because the machine that i am running oracle on is using all of its available memory.
The reason that this is occurring appears to be the 10+ instances of perl.exe that are running on it.
When i restart the machine there are 2 instances of perl.exe, but over time they multiply until the memory is used up.
Any ideas on why this is occurring or how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance

Because of perl.exe I guess you're talking about an installation on Windows. What you see is not a bug, these perl instances belong to Enterprise Manager dbconsole. Perl processes are opened and closed permanently, especially during dbconsole startup you may see 10 and more. When these processes fill up the available memory, I think your machine has not enough RAM. Either add more RAM or - as a workaround - don't start dbconsole.

  • No Setup.exe in 64-bit Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) Dowload

Why is there no Setup.exe in the 64-bit Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) Download? Are the only instructions for installing in the dowloaded readme file?

You're probably looking at an XCOPY bundle.
If you're looking for an x64 11.2 bundle installed via the Oracle Installer, you'd need to get either the 11201 full client on OTN, or the 11202 full client on My Oracle Support. The 11202 full client includes support for .NET 4 if you need that.
    Hope it helps,

For this, you need to start the service (and you should be installed 11g Database, not client) as follows:
isqlplusctl startThen using port number from $ORACLE_HOME/install/portlist.ini connect to GUI interface of SQL*Plus

  • Oracle 9i download - setup.exe doesn't do anything

I downloaded the three files for EE 9i, extracted to Disk1,2,3 etc. When I run setup.exe nothing happens. If I run setup.exe and watch task manager I see javaw.exe runs but then stops - there are no error messages, only ORA..... directories full of files left in temp.
Does anyone know how to make this run?

  • 11g R1 on Windows 2008 R1 64-bit - Stuck after clicking setup.exe

I ran setup.exe and it's stuck / hung, consuming a full core. I don't even get the prerequisites window to appear. I'm installing over RDP with a console session with admin rights and I even ran setup.exe as Administrator. The server is running in VMware. Any thoughts why this would happen?

The server is running in VMware. Any thoughts why this would happen?I am afraid but Oracle on VMWare is not supported. There is a Metalink Note basically saying: "It´s not supported but you can do it. If you face problems we know of we will deliver the solution to you as we would on native hardware. If the error is new you have to reproduce it on native hardware".
    You could try several things:
    1. Re-Download the file
    2. Make sure architecture (32-bit or 64-bit) of database and operating system match
    3. Re-Install Windows and try again
    4. Run Setup.exe in debug mode to gather more information

  • Oracle 9.2 setup.exe won't run on P3 with Win2K SP3

    Hi, everyone:
We had difficulty in installing Oracle 9.2 onto our Dell P3 Latitude C800 laptop running Win2K Professional with SP3. As many of you already reported, after double clicking "setup.exe", it won't run and nothing happened. We tried to run "autorun.exe" but that didn't work either. We also changed the system Temp/Tmp environment variables but no help either. Since our laptop is P3, not P4, not sure whether changing the symcjit.dll name would help.
This seems to be a Java issue but not sure exactly what caused the problem. We had TrendMicro's OfficeScan AV s/w installed. Is that the problem? What other commonly used s/w are Java based and may cause conflict with Oracle installer? We only have MS Office, VisualBasic, UltraEdit, Acrobat, WinZip, and GetRight installed on the laptop.
Are there any other suggestions for us to try? Your feedback will be greatly appreciated.

  • Setup.exe problem in Oracle Developer Forms 10g in Windows XP

    Hi All,
I have downloaded the below files for installing Developer Suit 10g from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/developer-suite/downloads/101202winsoft-087370.html.
    1. ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1.zip (626,122,752 bytes)
    2. ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2.zip (236,880,881 bytes)
I am installing it on Windows XP, Service Pack 3.
However when I click on setup.exe file in disk1 folder, it does not execute.
I went through the forums which discussed on problems related to execution of setup.exe on XP. Tried most of the things like Stopping the anti virus, run as administrator, rename the file, stop certain services , etc, but however this setup.exe does not run.
I am able to run exe files of other applications. I am having 1GB RAM, 10GB free disk space on P4.
Pl. suggest what could be the possible problem.
    regards,
    Baljeet

Here are a couple of things to try:
    1. Make sure there are no spaces in the directory name where you unzipped the installer.
    2. As Pilgrim indicated, you must be an administrator on the workstation in order to run the installer.
    3. Verify you have a clean download: check the file size and/or CRC information to ensure the download is not corrupt.
