Oracle 11g zip file Checksum
Hi,
i have downloaded oracle 11g R1 zip file for linux x86.The checksum of the zip file
on the download page is "302838609"
However, when i find out checksum through md5sum.exe dos utility after downloading the zip file, it gives me the following checksum value
5678e0db6ccc50734b9826c4b57ce508
can any one plz tell me which one is correct?
What does this 302838609 checksum mean, since we dont get such small checksum value for any download
Thanks in advance
Regards,
Abdul
Hi Syed,
Yes I understand that checksum will be the indication of a successful download or unsuccessful one.As I said I am no expert in checksum things so teh best that I can tell is that try unizipping it and see if the installer works. If it works than the number doesnt matter.Well its not a very helpful soolution I agree but thats the best I can tell.Or if you are not convinced than just download onemoretime.:)

Can not Unzip oracle 11g zip file for x64
Hi,
I have downloaded oracle 11g file from (window 2008 server with x64)
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle11g/111060_win64soft.html
File Name win64_11gR1_database_1013.zip
when i try to unzip this file I got an error like:
Archive: win64_11gR1_database_1013.zip
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on the last disk(s) of this archive.unzip: cannot find zipfile directory in win64_11gR1_database_1013.zip,and cannot find win64_11gR1_database_1013.zip.zip, period.
error indicates me towards two ways
1] File is invalid - I have downloaded same file twice
2] File is distributed in multiple files- site have only downloadable link
Can any one please help me to get out of it?
Thanks and Regards
B.SandeepIf you are really on Windows 2008, this file is wrong , you need
Oracle Database 11g Release 1 (11.1.0.7.0)
for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 x64
Of course that doesn't necessarily solve your general unzip problem, compare the size of the downloaded file with the size on the download site. If there's a difference, download is not complete for whatever reason.

Oracle Solaris Zip files names
Hi,
I am going to install oracle on solaris.I downloaded 9i sotware from oracle site and wrote it in cd's. The zip file name is 92010Sol_Disk1.cpio.gz.
When I insert the cd the zip file name is showing differenlty like 920_0001.gz.
My question is why its showing different file name?
THanks.Sounds like the program changed the long name to an 8.3 file format.
This is an 'old' article, but it may pertain to what happened:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/archive/default.asp?url=/archive/en-us/win9x/lfn_4ugj.asp
To quote the propaganda:
If the long file name does not follow the standard 8.3 format, the system automatically generates an alias, using the following scheme to ensure that the alias has a unique name. The system tries to create a name by using the first 6 characters of the long file name followed by a numeric tail. A numeric tail consists of the tilde (~) character followed by a number. The system starts with the number 1 in the numeric tail. If that file name already exists, it uses the number 2. It continues in this fashion until a unique name is found. If the long file name has a file name extension, the system will use the first three characters of the long file name's extension as the extension for the alias.
As the number of digits in the numeric tail grows, fewer characters in the long file name are used for the 8 characters in the alias. For example, the alias for Long File Name.File would be LONGF~10.FIL if the names LONGFI~1.FIL through LONGFI~9.FIL already existed in the directory. Applications can override the default alias numbering scheme when creating a file by specifying the OPEN_FLAGS_ALIAS_HINT value and supplying a number to use in the call to Create or Open File (Interrupt 21h Function 716Ch).
A period is just another character in a long file name. Leading periods are allowed in a long file name, but trailing periods are stripped. A file can have multiple periods as part of its name. For example, MyFile.081293.Document is a valid file name, and its alias will be MYFILE~1.DOC. The first three characters after the last period in the file name are used as the file name extension for the alias, as long as the last period is not a leading period. A file name of .login is also valid, and its alias is LOGIN~1.
So it [the software creating the cd] could have changed 92010Sol_Disk1.cpio.gz into 920_0001.gz. -
R12 Oracle Diagnostics Zip files
Sorry if this has been asked before but my understanding is Oracle Support's preference when uploading multiple files to an SR is to zip them into a single zip file.
However when you are asked by Support to run multiple R12 Oracle Diagnostics each resulting html file arrives compressed in its own zip file.
This creates a problem because as far as I know you cannot zip multiple zip files together and you must go through the laborious task of extracting out each html file, renaming it so the file name is meaningful, and then zip then all up together into a single zip file.
Not an issue for 2 or 3 but when you are asked for diagnostics on 20 transactions it can take some time.
Does anyone know a way around this by perhaps obtaining the resulting html file uncompressed and named with the file name you specified at run time?
Regards,
Jim.
Edited by: Jimbo on 09-Mar-2012 04:16Well this is embarrasing. I've just rechecked and you're quite right, it is possible to zip 2 zip files together.
I could have sworn I've tried this before and it didn't work.
In any case thank you. -

Permissions, ownership, etc could be reconfigured while process spawn, this is surely related to Oracle Software. (Well, you may argue that it is related to GI only. But the situation is the same for standalone DB running on standalone ASM). -
I have downloaded oracle 11g & all files are with .NRG extension. I am totally confused & i don't know what to do with it. While double clicking on these files nero pops up that means I have to write CD, I need someone to help me specifically what to do when it comes to writing CD in nero with .NRG extension. Kindly specify each and every steps one by one so that I can install oracle 11g sucessfully. Also please tell me which kind of CD OR DVD I need whether it should be RW/R-/R+. I would appreciate your kind help.

No rootpre.sh file found in Oracle 11g r1 download for AIX
I downloaded the 11.1.0.6.0 version of Oracle 11g from the website and unzipped it with the unzip_aix on a Power7 system. The files were unzipped into a directory called database. I could not find the rootpre.sh script anywhere. What am I missing?
The download site mentions a rootpre_aix.zip file for downloads prior to January 2008... confused and unexperienced. Wouldn't any download be after 2008?
Edited by: user8962451 on Apr 2, 2010 7:34 AMSame here. The installation instructions for Oracle in AIX is asking to run the preRoot.sh. Where can I get it this file, since I do not have Oracle CD.

Hello,
I downloaded E23943_01.zip, which is the 2.5 GB documentation set for Fusion Middleware 11g (11.1.1.6), WebLogic 10.3.6. WinZip will not open the ZIP file due to this error: too many entries in central directory according to end of central directory info. My other ZIP programs report essentially the same error as WinZip.
When I first encountered the error, I assumed my download did not complete correctly; but I downloaded it three times, with the same error. All three downloads had the same file sizes, and I even binary-compared two of them, which were identical.
I am suspicious that the source E23943_01.zip file on Oracle's site is corrupt. Can anyone corroborate or refute my suspicions?
Thanks,

Allowing only zip files to be uploaded through af:inputFile ( in jdev 11g )
I am able to upload all kinds of files through af:inputfile tag. I want to allow only zip files to be uploaded though the af:inputFile tag. Does inputFile provide any feature of this sort???
Let me address two issues here:
1. Chris has posted a correct answer about how to write a ValueChangeListener to allow only zip files. However, by the time this code runs, the file has actually already been uploaded to temporary storage. All this code does is specify what to do with the file once it is on the application server. So if you want to prevent the file from being uploaded unless it is zipped, this catches it too late. To catch it earlier, you have to write your own UploadedFileProcessor, and configure ADF to use it. Read more in Appendix A, section A.6.2.11 of the Fusion Web User Interface Developers Guide for Oracle ADF 11g.
2. While you have to write some code to handle uploaded files yourself (hey - it isn't a lot of code, and I don't care how declarative ADF is, sooner or later you're going to write a little code) if you are uploading to an ORDSYS.ORDDOC column in your Oracle database, ADF CAN do that declaratively. -
I downloaded Oracle 11g database from oracle.com but when i extract .zip file it showed Seed_Database.dfb is corrupted at following path
win32_11gR1_database(1).zip\database\stage\Components\oracle.rdbms.install.seeddb\11.1.0.6.0\1\DataFiles\Expanded\filegroup1\
I have installed oracle 11g, but it didn't installed properly because Seed_Database.dfb file was not present.
Can anyone give me that file for oracle 11g, any link from where i can download that file only, or email me that file at [email protected] Also, it is not possible for me or anyone to download the full .zip file of oracle 11g of 1.7 GB again.Even I am also still facing the same Problem. The issue here is even if we download the Install media, its in Jar format (Im referring to Solaris Install media). I couldn't find any article referring to which jar file contains the Seed_Database.dfb. Without knowing this the only option available is to reInstall Oracle again. But this is useless since we only need the Started Database and not the S/W itself.
Or the only other option is creating a new custom DB thru the dbca command. (But ofcourse you should be a hard core Oracle DBA professional to create a DB from scratch!).
