Oracle 11i E-Business Suite Installation on Windows fails
All you Oracle 11i gurus out there, please HELP as I am at my wit's end.
I am trying to install Oracle 11i E-Business Suite (downloaded from the edelivery Website) on Windows 2003 Server with dual PIII CPU, 1GB RAM, and 150GB+ disk space.
My Oracle 11i install on Windows has been failing during Step 1 of 5 following the process of unpacking the 114 zipfiles for the 9.2.0 database even though all the diagnostic steps passed.
It appears the install is failing on the following step:
InstantiateFile -d d:\oracle\visdb\9.2.0\appsutil\driver\instconf.drv
I have MKS Toolkit installed on C:\MKS and VC++ installed on C:\MVS\VC98.
I have renamed make.exe to gnumake.exe in the C:\MKS\mksnt folder and copied the linker (link.exe) from C:\MVS\VC98\bin to the C:\Windows\System32 folder.
The InstantiateFile step is executing some Java classes. I have also installed the JRE on C:\jre1.5.0_06, although it's doubtful this will impact the install scripts since the scripts are all hardcoded with the included JRE 1.4.2.
Why do Oracle DBAs and users deal with this crap? A software install should not be this difficult.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks to previous responder for tip regarding JDK/JRE anchor strings. I'm not sure if that is a problem. After letting the install process (java.exe) run for over an hour, I finally got past the InstantiateFile step. It looks like the process just takes a long time with no visible progress sometimes. After 5-6 hrs, it looked like the install succeeded (for the most part). There were still some errors in the error logs related to the Concurrent Manager (TNS-12541: TNS:no listener) I believe. If anyone has insight on what this error msg means, I would greatly appreciate a reply.
The other problem I am tackling right now is how to explicitly set the Forms processing mode to HTTP rather than the default socket mode. According to the 11i docs (and Forms Developer 6i docs), you should only have to set "connectMode=HTTP" in the config file, appsweb.cfg, to make this happen. However, when I try bringing up a client form, the form hangs. So, obviously, something is amiss. A related question is whether one can run Forms in only HTTP mode and not HTTPS (and thus avoid having to install SSL). I would greatly appreciate any insight from fellow users.

Help with 11i E-Business Suite Install on Windows XP
I've tried unsuccessfully to install the E-Business Suite on Windows XP machine. I repeatedly get the following message during the install (I start from a clean restored environment each time) " RW-20001 Error: Unzip failed: Insufficient disk space: Please create enough space for the intstall". I get this message even though I have only used 100GB of a total of 500GB. I'm installing from DVDs provided by Oracle.
I also get an error message related to the "Listener". The detail of this message is included below.
Any suggestions to get past this would be appreciated.
Question on the Domain Name Configuration:
When i follow the instructions from a previous thread and do
C:\ipconfig I get the following:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix: PMSC.COM
IP Address : 192.168.0.103
I added PMSC.COM per the instructions in the thread.
The original entry in the host file was:
127.0.0.01 localhost
It is now:
127.0.0.01 localhost
127.0.0.01 localhost.PMSC.COM
I'm trying to set this up as a standalone installation with everything on the harddrive of this computer. I'm confused as to what the correct host entry should be and if this is the cause of my intallation failures. I can provide as much information as possible to help diagnose my probelms. Thanks.
The only error messages I can find in the log files show a problem with the Listener. The error message is as follows:

Any suggestions to get past this would be appreciated.1. Make sure the user installing the apps has admin priviledges
2. Create a staging area from the DVD if you can - since you have so much space on your system, then attempt the installation from the staging area. The perl script to use is already on the DVD - adautostg.pl
3. > Connection-specific DNS Suffix: PMSC.COM
IP Address : 192.168.0.103
and you added
127.0.0.01 localhost.PMSC.COM, I feel it should have been
192.168.0.103 localhost.PMSC.COM ( if localhost is your server name. Adding this will nto affect anything)
although I can see from your log file, that the server name is pmsc_main, if so you have to add the servername.domainname.com to the host file too, such as
192.168.0.103 pmsc_main.pmsc.com.
Essentially, when you ipconfig, it has to return pmsc_main.pmsc.com against the IP address of your server - i.e. 192.168.0.103 and / or 127.0.0.01

Oracle E-Business suite installation
Hi,
I want to install and configure Oracle EBS 12 on Oracle Linux 6 or Ubuntu 11.04.
Here are the hardware configuration:
Intel i3, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, 1 TB HDD, 375 GB free disk space on it.
I have downloaded Oracle EBS 12 for Linux 64 bit.
I have Windows 7 64 bit installed and VMWare workstation 8 installed on it. I installed Linux 6 64 bit on VMWare. Do not know where to go from here, please help me in installing Oracle EBS on Oracle Linux 6. I have searched in different forums, I notice that Linux needs to be configured before installing EBS 12 and I also notice that 300 GB need for EBS installation but where it should created?
Please help to complete this EBS installation, I appreciate your efforts.
Is Ubuntu 11.04 compatible with Oracle EBS 12?
Thanks and regards,

Do not know where to go from here, please help me in installing Oracle EBS on Oracle Linux 6. I have searched in different forums, I notice that Linux needs to be configured before installing EBS 12 and I also notice that 300 GB need for EBS installation but where it should created?
Please help to complete this EBS installation, I appreciate your efforts. In addition to the two docs referenced in this reply, please see:

E Business Suite R12 for Window 7
Hi,
I am trying to download E-Business Suite R12 for Window 7 32-bit. Anybody knows where I can download this install.
Thanks.Hi,
Windows 7 is NOT certified as an application/database tier node, the list of certified Windows OS can be found in (Note: 761567.1 - Oracle E-Business Suite Installation and Upgrade Notes Release 12 (12.1.1) for Microsoft Windows Server (32-bit)). So, download the Windows version of the 12.1.1 files from e-Delivery website and install it on a certified OS.
Thanks,

[email protected]your problem is not very unusual... I also faced the similar situation cpl of times when Oracle was not able to continue the installation coz the Immediate Shutdown was failed. Actually During the installation, Oracle mounts/opens the database and shuts it down many times and few times, Oracle is unable to shutdown cleanly as some process is hanging or not responding.
Piece of advise is that always use staging area to install Apps as it takes long time on Win2K (anything between 4-12 hrs) to install it and CDROM Access is lot slower than HDD. Also, it will prompt u every time to insert tbe CD. All this hassle can be bypassed by using the staging area. Read the Installation help document on how to create it.
For failure reasons, look in ur installation log file which is created in the default Temp folder usually C:\documents and settings\USERNAME\local settings\temp for WinXP or C:\winnt\documents and settings\USERNAME\local settings\temp for Win2K.
post or email me at [email protected] or [email protected] for further help/details. -

Has anybody used JDev 10g to write an extension to 11i e-business suite?
We are looking to develop an application that can be called from within the menu structure of the 11i e-business suite and would like to use JDeveloper 10g.
I have read that the OA Extension for JDev 9 can be used for this, but I've also read that this OA extension has been replaced by ADF in 10g. Can we use ADF to obtain values such as user_id, responsibility_id, org_id from 11i?
Failing that, seeing as this is the only information from 11i that we will need in the new application, can we just pass these values in as parameters when initially calling the application?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as we cannot find ANY documentation detailing how to link ADF into 11i.Just to clarify OAF is not ADF.
e-Business is based on OAF right now, and the fusion generation of Applications will be based on ADF.
While OAF uses UIX and BC4J (an early version of ADF BC) it is not the same as ADF.
If you want to use OAF you better ask the question on the OAF forum on OTN.
for ADF development you should use JDeveloper 10.1.3. ADF first appeared in JDeveloper 9.0.5 but things had evolved a lot since then. -
Can't ssh to Oracle Database (E-business SUite 11.5.10.2)
Hi,
Time to time I've noticing server froze. Can't ssh to Oracle Database (E-business Suite).
Please advice is any one has similar situation
OS=RHEL 4.4
DB=10.2.0.3
Ebis=11.5.10.2Hi,
Time to time I've noticing server froze. You should find more details about this behavior in the server logs -- Your System Administrator should help here!
Can't ssh to Oracle Database (E-business Suite). This is an expected behavior if the server hangs. Can you find any errors in the database log file? Do you have sufficient space at the OS level? I believe this is not a ssh issue as it is more likely a Hardware/OS issue.

Hussein
