Oracle 11i upgrade

We are using Oracle Interface Tables, and direct reads, to integrate an external application with Oracle 10. We are reading/writing data such as Purchase Orders, AVL, part master, etc.
Are there any changes in this area in 11i? What changes would we need to make when upgrading to 11i? Is there any documentation available on this?

According to the certification matrix, Oracle9i is not certified with OEL5. So, I am not sure how you managed to have 9.2.0.6 installed and running on this OS. There could be a workaround for ignore the OS pre-req. when running OUI, but I would suggest you log a SR to confirm this with Oracle support.
Since you are upgrading to 9.2.0.8, please refer to (Note: 216550.1 - Oracle Applications Release 11i with Oracle9i Release 2 (9.2.0)) instead of the one referenced in my previous update (same section). Please note that you still need to apply patch 5035661.

Looking for proposal templates for Oracle 11i Financial upgrade

Hello everyone,
I have been asked to prepare a proposal for Oracle Financial Application UPGRADE from 11.0.3 to 11.5.6.
Though I have a fair knowledge about Oracle Financials, but I do not have any standard proposal templates
related to 11i upgrade.
Specifically, I am looking for some standard proposal templates highlighting the best practices, preferred approach, methodologies, work flow, obstacles etc. OR whatever is available.

Error while running Oracle 11i OA page in JDeveloper 10g.

Hi All,
I have to do some customization in isupplier page. The page is working well in Oracle 11i instance. Now we are upgrading the Oracle 11i to R12. So I check out the entire project (i copied whole myprojects folder) and try to run the same project in Jdeveloper10g (I use proper jdeveloper patch). While compiling the project I got following error. Seems to be some class files are missing. But I don’t know how to fix it. Any help pls?

Problem in Installation of oracle 11i

Hi,
I'm trying to install oracle 11i apps in windows server. I have done all prerequsite steps before starting intallation.
In front end screen its saying
compled unziping 81 of 114 at (71%)
at one particular point the installation is not proceeding and its not writing any information in logs .
Please let me know anyone has faced smiliar problem and how you rectified it.

Is Oracle 11i based on Oracle 9i or 8i backend engine? Would it be possible to upgrade Oracle 11i with Oracle 10g backend engine? When is the next release of Oracle 11i that is based on Oracle 10g?

Oracle 11i is Oracle Applications 11i only which is holding applications modules hope you got it.
Oracle 9i enterprise database has new features got utilized in Apps 11i.
The Oracle 10g production will be launched in the month of december 2003 only.

To relink the Oracle8i or Oracle9i database:
1. Change directory to the Oracle8i or Oracle9i $ORACLE_HOME (${ORACLE_SID}db/8.
1.7 if the instance is using an Oracle8i database).
2. Source the ${ORACLE_SID}.env file.
3. Run "relink all" .
To relink the Oracle8 (8.0.6) programs:
1. Change directory to the Oracle8 $ORACLE_HOME (${ORACLE_SID}ora/8.0.6).
2. Source the ${ORACLE_SID}.env file.
3. cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
4. gensyslib

Is there any possibility that we run 2 Instances of 11i
1.Production and
2.Upgradation Instance.
Production stay live as we perform up gradation on other instance. But both servers have same updated data in Databases.
After up gradation completes we just shut down Production and Live Up-grade Instance.

How to 10gR2 from db 9.2.0.5 - 11i upgrade purpose

I have downloaded database 10.2.0.1.0 to upgrade from 9.2.0.5 which is not supporting my OS (Oracle Linux 5.7 32bit)
and
I tried to install patch set 9.2.0.8.0 in top of 9.2.0.5.0 which is also not supported.
1.Where i need to download database 10gR2 which will support Oracle Linux 5.7 32bit
2.I am tring to upgrade 11i to r12.1.1 path-E (db version: 11.2.0.2 apps version:11.5.10.2)
3.now i am on db-9.2.0.5.0 so i need to upgrade (9.2.0.5.0 >> 9.2.0.8.0 >> 11.2.0.2) or (9.2.0.5.0 >> 10.2.X.X.X >> 11.2.0.2)
4. MY issue is above version (9.2.0.8.0 & 10.2.X.X.X) are not supporting my OS Oracle Linux 5.7 32bit
Please help me to move forward..

Cirix Metaframe implementation with Oracle 11i

We are considering implementing Citrix Metaframe 1.8 with our existing 11i implementation. As Oracle does not support Citrix as a platform to run Jinitiator, could anyone share their experience with a similar implementation, and maybe advice me on key issues/show stoppers faced.

Hidden parameters appears after Oracle 11gR2 upgrade

Upgrading from: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production
Upgrading to : Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production
Issue : There are around 130 hidden parameter appear after Oracle 11gR2 upgrade.
Before upgrade I have commented the hidden parameters on the PFILE. PFILE only to start the database for the Oracle 11gR2 upgrade.
Before upgrade, checking the hidden parameter:

I just came across a similar case: 1 (just one) of our (RAC-) databases has 130-something underscore-parameters set to non-default values.
version is still 11.1.0.7 (e.g. not 11gR2).
All of those hidden parameters seem to be CBO related (list on request).
Weird is: Only one of our (very similar, supposedly same-config) databases have these hidden parameters set.
Colleagues justly wonder: Who, When, What has caused these parameters to be expliclty set for this one system?
Note: we do not have the complete history of this system documented (systems have been managed by 3 different parties already).
It is quite possible they came in with some patch or upgrade (catupgr?) somewhere between 11.1.0.1 and 11.1.0.7, but a confirmation would be nice.

Migrating menues from oracle 11i to R12

Hi all,
I have to migrate Menus from Oracle 11i to R12, this can be done using FND_LOAD, but we have to migrate it using API's. Please suggest me the API name and approach. Currently I am investigating on fnd_menus_pkg.load_row and fnd_menu_entries_pkg.load_row . Please let mw know if these are the correct API's to migrate Menus. Any help is appreciated.

If the version of $FND_TOP/patch/115/import/afsload.lct and the table structure is identical on both instances, you may use FNDLOAD for your custom menus. However, I would not recommend using FNDLOAD or any API between different application releases.

How to find out Oracle 11i Standard Objects

Hi Gurus,
There is a requirement from my client. My client is on 11i Oracle Applications. He has many customization. But somehow he failed to use naming convention and all during implementation. Now he wants us to write a program which can tell us how many custom database objects are created as a part of implementation.
Hence in order to know this, first I need to find out what are the standard objects provided by Oracle for its 11i application so that I can write a program which will take difference (custom DB objects - standard Oracle 11i Object)
It will be great assistance if you let me know how to find out standard objects provided by Oracle for its 11i application?

There is no easy or programmatic way to determine the custom objects. All custom objects need to be documented and need to follow the recommended XX naming convention. If that has not been done, then someone will have to manually input each object name that is possibly custom at https://etrm.oracle.com which documents all seeded objects - if no match is found, it is most likely a custom object.
