Oracle 6 to Recent versions or other formats

Hello,
The world of databases is definitely not mine. So please avoid too much jargon in your answers.
I have a few old Oracle database (version 6) that were generated mid-90's. I have so far failed in opening them and would like to know if someone could help, open them, convert them to something I could read or to a more recent version of Oracle.
I do not mind if the relations are lost in the conversion, at this stage I'd be happy to know what the database contains...
I can be contacted direct on [email protected]
Thanks in advance and kind regards,
Laurent

Hello again,
And sorry for the lack of information.
I downloaded Oracle 10g I believe yesterday and install it... possibly successfully. I do not even know where to start regarding loading pre-existing databases...
The DVD is a back up from an old mine in Norway and the computer running the database was thrown out a few decades ago. The files are believed to be from the mid-90's. We have asked many questions but the only person left with information regarding the mine and its administration knows nothing about the database.
The folder containing a few .ORA files is: 37.3Mb.
There are 17 ORA files, ranging from a few Mb to the biggest one being 10Mb. This is the one we believe contain the information we are after.
Then in the folder, there are a few SQL files, .R files, Log files (extract below may show the version???), .CRT, MSB, INP and ORI files.
One of the log may have some of the information you asked for earlier (sorry did not spot it until then):
//Extract

REMPME: Version 6.0.2 - Production

//end of extract
Information is limited I am sorry and this is part of our problem.
Thanks again and kind regards,
Laurent

  • How do I open photoshop 2 files in a more recent version of Photoshop?

I have Photoshop files generated with Adobe Photshop 2.0 on Mac OS 6.0.4.  Is there any way to migrate these files for use with a more recent version of Photoshop?

    Hi DennisWDavis1234,
Do you remember which version of photoshop that was, such as photoshop 2.0 or 2.01 or possibly 2.5?
I guess you don't have that system still in operation?
I believe mac versions of photoshop can open the photoshop 2.0 file format and mac versions of elements before photoshop elements 11 as well.

  • Importing other formats into iWorks09

    Hello,
Next to McOS Systems 7,8,9, till 10.2.8, I used an Application for publishing called Ragtime Version 2,3 and since 2003 Version 5.0.6 (Solo) This very advanced application (www.ragtime.de) translates all documents from Windows .doc and .xls as well as other formats. Ragtime is very friendly to the Mac Operating System.
Recently I upgraded from 10.2.8 to 10.4.11 and unfortunately I can't use Ragtime anymore. Buying the last Version 6.0.2 is quit expensive, some $300. Consider that all my documents over the years are in .rtd (Ragtime) format. So I'm in trouble now because I didn't find any IMPORT facility in iWork09
I'm on a 30days trial in iWork09 and before I decide to buy it I need to be sure that all my documents can be translated into iWork09.
Is there an expert out there who can give me a solution.?
    Hubert.

    Hi Marbert
Ragtime is not a widely used DTP app. so don't expect to be able to directly import them into Pages, nor anything else than RagTime itself.
So you should be looking at some intermediary export format that will get the material out of Ragtime and into Pages. Check your RagTime manual and website to see what is possible. I would think if you don't need editability, maybe .pdf for archival purposes.
The immediate problem I can see is that there is no equivalent for some of the RagTime features like the internal database so you may have to export data and text separately.

  • Most recent version of QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback?

Is it 6.4? If not, how do I get 6.5 or higher? It is not showing up in Software Update.
I had to go back to my DVDSP 3 upgrade disc and just install the MPEG2 playback component from there to get it.
    I have version 6.4
My initial install was from a DVDSP 2 Upgrade disc (I own 1.5, but after I got my G5, I just installed with the upgrader and typed in both serials) and a Final Cut 4 full edition
I then bought DVDSP 3 Upgrade, which I never got around to installing before I bought Final Cut Studio, which I used to upgrade from FCP 4 to 5 and DVDSP 2 to 4.
My MPEG-2 Playback component was not there.
So I used the DVDSP installer, did a custom install, saw you could JUST install the playback component and there it was.
So do I have the most up to date version of it?
I am running Quictime 7.0.2 on OS 10.4.2
    Thanks!

The most recent version of the MPEG-2 Playback Component is 6.4.
It really doesn't matter how you got there. Have you tried opening a non protected MPEG-2 (a DVD format) using QT?
    Does it work?

  • Converting a report into other format

    Hello everybody,
I'm having a problem when I try to convert any report to any other format.
From the report previewer I click the command at File\Generate to File, and whatever format I choose (PDF, HTML, RTF, ...), a Save dialog box appears to enter the file name. I enter the file name and click "Save". I always get an error message "Unimplemented Error", and the conversion doesn't perform.
    Could anybody help me, please.
Note: At the server side I have Windows 2000 Server and Oracle 9i, and at the workstation side I have Windows XP and Oracle Forms/Reports Builder 6i.

    Hello,
This problem has been reported as a bug in the First versions of Reports 6i.
It has been fixed in the Patchset 3.
Have you applied the latest patchset available for Reports 6i ?

  • GC 10gR3 - Edit Oracle Listener Configuration - listener.ora is DOS-Format

    RDBMS Version:: 9i / 10g
Operating System and Version:: Unix / RHEL 4
    Error Number (if applicable):: NL-00278
Product (i.e. Trace, DB Diff, Expert, etc):: Listener Configuration
    Product Version:: 10.2.0.3
OEM Console Operating System and Version:: Windows 2003
GC 10gR3 - Edit Oracle Listener Configuration - listener.ora is DOS-Format under Unix
    Hello everyone,
during an demo of Grid Control 10gR3 for an customer I found the following issue:
When the Grid Control Server is running under Windows and the listener.ora file of an target is edited with GC the resulting file is in DOS-Format even if the target is a Unix system. This can cause the listener to fail during the restart.
To reproduce that problem you have to do the following steps:
    1. You need GC under Windows and a Listener target under Unix/Linux
    2. Go to the edit page of the listener-target and use the "Edit" Button
    3. Go to the "Logging & Tracing" Tab and enable Logging
    4. Change the Logfile to a new filename e.g. LISTENER2.log
    5. Apply that change with the "OK" button
    6. Let the Listener get restarted on the next screen
    Result:
    You receive an error message:
    LSNRCTL> Starting /opt/oracle/ora10g/bin/tnslsnr: please wait...
TNSLSNR for Linux: Version 10.2.0.1.0 - Production
NL-00280: error creating log stream /opt/oracle/ora10g/network/log
    /listener2.log
    .log
    NL-00278: cannot open log file
    SNL-00016: snlfohd: error opening file
Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory
Listener failed to start. See the error message(s) above...
    Analysis:
The listener.ora file is in DOS-Format and the Listener seams to have some problems to create a new log-file in that case. If the listener.ora file is converted manually with the tool dos2unix to be in Unix-Format the Listener starts without problems.
I can reproduce that behavior on two grid control installations. Can someone also reproduce that problem? I have not found an Bug or Patch for that issue.
    Best Regards
    Frank

    Hello,
well, the listener.ora file is correct - the only problem is that it is in DOS-Format. When I use the tool dos2unix to convert listener.ora to be in unix format there are no problems to restart the listener.
    Bye
    Frank

If your media are gone it is a lot easier to restore from a proper computer backup.  Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software.  See this document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

  • My Mac OS, 10.5.8, won't support the most recent Firefox and I need the most recent version it WILL support and how to get it, as it's not on this site.

I need a way to get a more recent but not current version of Firefox that my computer, a PowerPC processor Mac, will support. I am running OS X version 10.5.8. This processor/computer will not run Lion and the most recent version of Firefox will not run on it either.
On my second computer, same type, a newer version of Firefox crashes constantly while in Yahoo!

Exactly what version of iTunes are you running? And DON'T say 'the latest version'... CHECK the version number. You need to be running 11.1 or higher.

  • Issue with opening a site in SharePoint Designer 2010 -The version of SharePoint foundation running on the server is more recent than the version of SPD you are using, you need a more recent version of SPD.

I have a SharePoint site which I am trying to open in SPD 2010, I am getting the following error(some of my team members are able to open)
The version of SharePoint foundation running on the server is more recent than the version  of SPD you are using, you need a more recent version of SPD.
These are the ways I tried
    1) Earlier I have MS office 32 bit and SPD 32 bit, I uninstalled them and installed both 64 bit versions
    2) I uninstalled restarted my machine and installed it again still no use.
    3) I installed SPD 2010 Service Pack 2 of 64 bit
    4) I uninstalled the SPD 2010 and opened the site—site actions—edit page in SPD , then it asked me to install SPD 2010, then I installed and tried to open the same site, again same error.
    How to solve this issue?
I checked permissions also at that site level – I have full control like others. I don’t have access to Central Admin so where else I can check the permission settings?

    Please update us SharePoint version

Since installing the most recent version of iTunes, I have to accept the software terms and conditions every time I go in to iTunes.  I sign in to my account, but when I re-open iTunes, as well as having to accept the terms and conditions before continuing, I find that iTunes has logged me out of my account.  None of this has happened before.  I am using a PC with Windows 8.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
One thing is the memory, and another thing is the hard disk space. You are telling me that you have 200 GB of free space on the hard disk, but the App Store is telling you that you have to install 2 GB of memory or more on your Mac if you want to upgrade to OS X Mountain Lion.
First of all, open  > About this Mac > More Info, and copy "Model Identifier" here, so we can know what Mac you have got and how much memory you can install.
We recommend to buy the memory in OWC or Crucial (Crucial is cheaper and offers the same compatibility warranty as OWC) because you won't probably have any problem with the memory you buy there
