Oracle 8.0.6 & 8.1.6 Character set scanners available for download

The latest version of the character set scanner version 1.0
(based on the 9.0.1 version) is now available on OTN. Oracle has
backported this utility to the following RDBMS releases 8.0.6
(Solaris), 8.1.6 (NT, Solaris) and 8.1.7 (NT, Solaris) .

Next Build of Oracle XE Available for Download?

When will the next build of Oracle XE be available for download?
Currently I have a painful problem of being unable to import large HTML DB (2MB SQL files) Applications. I tried this thread:
Problem with importing HTML DB applications
However, it does not work for me and the problem seems so profound it probably requires a new build. In this current state, XE is not particularly useful for me... :(

We should have another Windows beta drop in a day or two. However this is only fixing some of the well known installation problems.
Can you please report the nature of your problem so we can see if there is a workaround, and also determine the correct fix ?

Oracle 11g Installation How to select Database Character Set

Hi,
I am Installing oracle 11g R2. After installation I had verified the character set it was AL16UTF16 but I wants to set AL32UTF8 charater set at the time of oracle installation only. I can't see the character set setting opetion at the time of installation because I am selecting the installation option " Install database softerware only" and after installation of oracle software manually I am creating the database. Please help me how can I set the character set at the time of oracle installation or at the time of database creation.
My question is-
How can I set the AL32UTF8 character set in above scenario?
Why It is showing AL16UTF16 character set even I did not define any thing?

But is there any choice to set the NLS_CHARACTERSET at the time of manually database creation. Actually For creating the database i am using one shell script for seting the parameter values in init.ora file so can I set the parameter at that level(at the time of creating init.ora using manually database creation). like

If you are talking about the next release of JDeveloper, Oracle hasn't (and generally doesn't) announced a date.

Just wanting to know if this how to document had been released yet? WOuld be VERY interested in seeing how you do this in HTML-DB, since a lot of user would like to see their reports have the ability, and we do NOT want to do it in Oracle Reports..

Please make Oracle 8i for AIX available for download

We need Oracle 8i for AIX...specifically Oracle 8.1.7.2.0 for AIX 4.3.3.
We were pointed to technet.oracle.com by our Oracle representative. We found the following available:
     Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 3 (8.1.7.0.1) for Linux (Intel), with OPS
     Oracle8i Enterprise/Standard Edition Release 3 (8.1.7) for Windows 2000/NT
     Oracle8i Enterprise Edition (64-bit) Release 3 (8.1.7) for Sun SPARC Solaris

It's working (mostly) well now. The original implementation with ALSB/OSB 3.0 wasn't good, we got a patch for it back in December which contained big changes, so I presume that they back ported changes that were already in progress for the newer releases.
However that patch wouldn't read from Queue Aliases, since it was performing a queue depth.. We receievd another patch early in May that fixes this.
However we had an issue in production over the weekend, where the queue readers stopped reading, it looks like the problem was caused by a network router going funky, we've been trying to reproduce the situation in a local environment but not managed to replicate it yet, so it may be a rare case of events that causes the problem.
I'd suggest trying the 10.3.1 version out against an Alias Queue, if you get the MQ messages Completion code 1 Reason code 2068, then this is the queue depth issue, and you'll need to get a support case going.
We used the foreign jms okay for a long time, the only issue with it was firewalls chopping connections when writing (if no message written for a period of time less than an hour (firewall cutoff period)), this caused a connection hang for 6 minutes before it would realise the connection was actually dead before it created a new one. But we've been using the MQ transport for writing to queue since december with no problems. We were using the foreign jms for reading until last week.

Character set marker unknown error while importing data in 10g from 8i

Hi All,
I am trying to import the whole database schema wise (one by one) through oracle 10g database control page (which is browser based)
But when i try to import the objects of a schema i get the error that
"IMP-00037 : Character set marker unknown "
Import terminated unsuccessfully
Would anybody please tell me about the mentioned error ???
Kindly provide the solution.
Mentioned below are the character sets available in both the version.
Character sets in oracle 8.1.7 :-
Database Character Set :: WE8ISO8859P1
National Character Set :: WE8ISO8859P1
Character sets in oracle 10.2.0.1.0 :-
Database Character Set :: WE8ISO8859P1
National Character Set :: AL16UTF16

As you have asked, i have mentioned the export command below to get the full database export file.
And I have copied this export file (dump) to another machine(Server) where i have to import that file to upgrade the database to 10g Rel 2.
