  • Install Oracle 8i Personald Edition on Windows 2000 Server SP2

    Hi
I have problem to install the Oracle 8i Personal Edition on
    Windows 2000 Server SP2.
I run the Setup.exe, I become the message (not exactly) “JRE
(Java Runtime Environment) was not found…… please visit
www.javasoft.com….. and install JRE version 1.1.7 or higher…”
Now, I have download and install this JRE (JavaTM 2 Runtime
    Environment v 1.2.2_008 / Internationalized version of Java 2
    Runtime Environment).
    The error-messages comes again.
    Have everyone a idea?

    hi phill...
why dont you try it out with the same CD and increase your RAM
by another 64MB? This will be enough. The reason is , most
Oracle 8i releases are combined with a java based Oracle
Universal Installer. This requires some good amount of RAM. Just
try it out with some extra memory. If this also didnt work, then
send in the problem, error with your system config. This will
help me in solving your problem.
    Imran.

  • Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac and Win 2000 Server

    Hello guys,
Could you please confirm that the latest version 8.0.15 is compatible with WIN 2000 Server connections? If not, could you please advise which version of Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac is the match in order to connect to a WIN 2000 server.
    Thank you in advance,
    Bogdan

    Hello Bogdan
WIN 2000 is supported. See a complete list of supported Windows SKUs here:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn473006.aspx
Go to the AppStore and download Microsoft Remote Desktop.

  • How to send STRG+ALT+DELETE throug ARD to a Win 2000 Server

    Hello,
Just stuck, how do I send STRGALTDELETE through ARD via VNC-connection to a Win 2000 Server?
Had to restart the machine, but cannot log in now. Thanks for your help.
    Jochen

same basic answer, but I'd recommend JollysfastVNC if you go the VNC route:
    http://www.jinx.de/JollysFastVNC.html
Or CoRD instead of Microsoft's RDC for Mac
    http://cord.sourceforge.net/
The CoRD/RDC is the route I'd go, by the way, since it works very well. It's one thing MS has included with Windows which Apple should have years ago.

  • Oracle 9i release 2 for Win 2003 Server 32 bit

From the Oracle download site, do I need to download Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition for Windows NT/2000/XP 32 bit before administering the Release 2 for Win 2003 Server. (approx. 180 Meg)

Interesting. I've been using APEX 3.2 with Firefox 3.5 for several months now without any issues and I know several other developers doing the same. Can you test it from another client machine to see if it's something with the PC or the install of Firefox? You might also try [a href="http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable"]Firefox 3.5 Portable[a], as it will basically give you a clean, fresh install of 3.5 without uninstalling your current 3.5. Just make sure you close all instances of Firefox before you start up the portable one.
On a totally unrelated note, just wanted to make sure you know the 9.2 is no longer a supported database (unless you pay for extended support) and the upcoming 4.0 release of APEX will not work with 9.2 at all.

  • Oracle 8.1.7 on Win 2K Server DC

I installed an 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition version of Oracle 8i on Win 2K Server DC.
At the first moment, I ran SQLPlus and there was no errors. Now, when I try to execute SQLPlus again, the following errors are displayed:
    ORA-01034: Oracle not available.
ORA-27101: Shared memory realm does not exist.
At the installation process, the database was created by default.
    Any ideas?

Your Oracle instance is not running. Start it in SVRMGRL, in the command prompt window:-
    SVRMGRLSVRMGR>connect internal
    Connected.
    SVRMGR>startup
    SVRMGR>Oracle instance started etc...
    SVRMGR>quit
As to why it's not starting, I have installed Oracle on many Windows NT and 2000 servers, and this happens where the Server is a PDC, I have no idea why.
You can execute the above as a script from autoexec to ensure that the database is running, but I'm sure there's a better way to fix it.

  • Universal Installer refuses to run on Win 2000 Server P-II

    Hello,
I've seen this problem all over but some people tell me it should only happen with P4 chips? As soon as I plop the 9i install CD into the drive, it auto runs and I click INSTALL. Within a couple seconds, I get a message:
"The Java Runtime Environment was not found at c:\docume~1\admini~1\locals~1\temp\orainstall\jre\bin\jrew.exe. Hence, the Oracle Universal Installer cannot be run. Please visit http://www.javasoft.com and install JRE version 1.1.7 or greater and try again."
I had this problem on an existing server so I did a BRAND NEW installation of Windows 2000 Server and then applied SP3. Still same problem. The processor is a PII-366. What could be wrong?
I've followed all the steps I have found so far:
I've tried copying the install disks to the hard drive.
I've tried renaming the symcjit.dll files (all of them).
I've made sure that all the files are not read only (since they came off of
    the CD-R)
I've tried downloading various versions of the JRE (from 1.1.8 to 1.4)
I've read the installation .PDF included on the CD.
    Thanks for any suggestions.

    Hi Raghavan,
Have you applied Services Pack 4 to your WIN 2K SVR installation? If not please do so. After Installation of Oracle 8i you should update the listener.ora (found under ...\<oracle home>\ora82\network\ADMIN). For further details check Oracle installation guide.
    Cheers,

  • IMQ Broker Not Shutting Down on Win 2000 Server Re-boot

I am using a Windows 2000 Server and have found that during a re-boot the Broker Service (3.5 SP1) is not shutting down completely. The following lines are missing from the log entry created when restarting the server: -
[17/Aug/2004:12:55:55 BST] [B1093]: Shutdown requested by broker administrator
[17/Aug/2004:12:55:55 BST] [B1047]: Shutting down broker...
    [17/Aug/2004:12:55:55 BST] [B1077]: Broadcast good-bye to all connections ...
    [17/Aug/2004:12:55:55 BST] [B1078]: Flushing good-bye messages ...
    [17/Aug/2004:12:55:55 BST] [B1063]: Done
[17/Aug/2004:12:55:55 BST] [B1048]: Shutdown of broker complete.
    [17/Aug/2004:12:55:55 BST] [B1066]: Closing: [email protected]:1108->admin:1074. Count=0
    [17/Aug/2004:12:55:58 BST].
If the Broker service is manually stopped through Services the entries are placed into the log file.
The problem being created is the broker lock file is not cleared when service is not shutdown completely and when the server is restarted the broker service is then unable to launch as it believes an instance of the service is already running. When the lock file is deleted the broker service can be started.
Has anyone experienced this problem before and found a solution?
If any further information is required in this log then please update with required details.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Dave.

    Thanks Joe,
Please read to the end. Thanks to your suggestions I believe I have found the cause of the IMQ Broker problems I was experiencing.
As you suggested by adding the line: -
    imq.hostname=257s-bs1a
to the end of the IMQ config.properties file this seems to have worked around the problem shutting down and restarting the IMQ Broker.
Following numerous server restarts the IMQ Broker Service had restarted with Windows successfully. However, I was unable to successfully access the Data Distribution Page.
Further investigation showed the server was using a leased IP address and not static.
I removed the 'imq.hostname' line added earlier and changed the server IP address to static. When the server was rebooted I found the IMQ Service had started successfully. On several successive re-boots the IMQ Broker service restarted with Windows correctly.
To check if this was related to having a dynamic IP address of the server was changed back to Dynamic. Following the first re-boot of the server IMQ had started successfully. On the second re-boot of the server with Dynamic IP the IMQ Broker service did not restart. Following additional re-boots with a dynamic IP address the IMQ Broker service did not restart.
With the IP address changed back to static the server was re-booted. Following the first re-boot the IMQ Broker service had not restarted. Following subsequent re-boots with a static IP address the IMQ Broker service did restart.
Thank you Joe for pointing me in the correct direction.
    Regards,
    Dave.
