Oracle 8.1.7 for AIX

Is there any way I can get access to a download of Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise for AIX?
My installation media is AWOL.
I know that it has been removed from the Oracle download site, since it is now out of support, but I need to reinstall one of our support environments.
TIA

Try opening a media request (SR) with Metalink.

  • Oracle 8.1.7 for AIX 3.5

We are migrating to AIX 3.5 and our perl libraries require the Oracle 8.1.7 client and won't work with the newer clients.
Is 8.1.7 for AIX available for download anywhere?

Oracle's policy seems to be 'remove the download when the product becomes obsolete and unsupported'.
Oracle8i has been unsupported for some time now. If you are lucky, a conversation with your Sales Rep and with Oracle Support might provide the software.

But I must admit confusion - why upgrade pieces and expect the non-upgraded pieces to continue working without difficulty? Your mix-and-match approach is a recipie for long-term problem resolution opportunities

  • Oracle 9i database server for AIX 32 bit

    Hello,
I tried to download from OTN Oracle 9i database.
Will there be possible to download for 32bit AIX?
I feel little depressed because such stable OS I am forced to
switch to Windows if I want to prepare myself little advance on
    future Oracle architecture.
Will it be possible to get also 32bit AIX Oracle 9i?

At this time, Oracle is offering only the 64- bit and we do not
have additional information if in the future 32-bit will be
    offered.
    Best Regards,

  • SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE 4.7 / ORACLE 9i / kernel 640 for AIX 6.1

    Hello,
We plan to migrate our SAP systems from AIX 5.3 to AIX 6.1.
We are currently running a SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE 4.7 on ORACLE 9i with a 640 kernel 64 bits UC.
I would like to know if AIX 6.1 is validated for our system (SAP 4.7, ORCALE 9i and kernel 640).
    Thanks.

I would like to know if AIX 6.1 is validated for our system (SAP 4.7, ORCALE 9i and kernel 640).
    Read
Note 1137862 - Using SAP systems with AIX 6.1
    Note 1087498 - Support für AIX 6.1
The first note will tell you the necessary TL/SP you need to install. The second note tells you about the minimum kernel version.
What does not work is Oracle 9.2 --> not supported under AIX 6.1 (http://service.sap.com/pam or Oracle Metalink 169706.1).
Since Oracle 9.2 is out of support already I highly suggest upgrading to Oracle 10.2.0.4 and using the latest 640_EX2 kernel.

  • No rootpre.sh file found in Oracle 11g r1 download for AIX

I downloaded the 11.1.0.6.0 version of Oracle 11g from the website and unzipped it with the unzip_aix on a Power7 system. The files were unzipped into a directory called database. I could not find the rootpre.sh script anywhere. What am I missing?
The download site mentions a rootpre_aix.zip file for downloads prior to January 2008... confused and unexperienced. Wouldn't any download be after 2008?

Same here. The installation instructions for Oracle in AIX is asking to run the preRoot.sh. Where can I get it this file, since I do not have Oracle CD.

  • Oracle version for AIX 5.3 ?

I just download the latest Oracle 10g Trial version for AIX 5L from the Web. But as I go through installation, while running "runInstaller", it gave me message:
"Checking operating system version: must be 5200
    Failed <<<<"
Of course since I have AIX 5.3. The requirement of Oracle 10g says the OS should be "AIX 5L version 5.2, Main level 1 or higher". With AIX 5.3, is there a Oracle version?
    thanks,

    Thank you, it worked!
However it seems to me a more workaround. Is there a source to say Oracle 10g for AIX 5.3 is officially supported (or aka certified for the platform)? If a Oracle 10g is purchased and problem develops on AIX 5.3, I don't want to get a saying it is not yet certified.
    Thanks,

  • Client odbc for AIX 5.3?

    Hi:
    I have the following enviroment:
    - WebSphere Message Broker 5.0
    - DB2 8.1
    - MQ 5.3
    - Red Hat Linux AS 3.0
And I trying to define an ODBC connection to the enviroment:
    - Oracle 10g
    - AIX 5.3
I don´t found in Oracle, the Client ODBC for AIX 5.3. The question here is it's posible working whith ODBC applications (especifically with the driver DataDirect 5.2) without ODBC libraries for AIX 5.3.
    Thanks

Assuming that the DataDirect 5.2 driver supports Red Hat Linux AS 3.0 and connections to a 10g database (which seems reasonable, but I haven't checked their support matrix), you should have no problems. In this configuration, you wouldn't be using any Oracle ODBC libraries.

  • ORACLE XML PARSER FOR JAVA FOR AIX

    Hi people!
I'm looking for the Oracle XML Parser for Java 9.0.2.0.0C, my 9iAS is BI Installation 9.0.2.3, where can I get it? In the Downloads Section there is only the version for 10g, and the existing versions for 9i are not for AIX (my OS is AIX 5.2L).
    Thanks.

Thanks for your help, I navigate through this link and, even it shows a table where appears the release for AIX (9.2.0.6.0), when I get to http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/xml/xdk/software/prod/utilsoft_java.htm
it shows me only downloads for Sun, Linux and HP-UX, but not for AIX.
Has the version for AIX being deprecated or something like that?

    Yes.

  • Please make Oracle 8i for AIX available for download

We need Oracle 8i for AIX...specifically Oracle 8.1.7.2.0 for AIX 4.3.3.
We were pointed to technet.oracle.com by our Oracle representative. We found the following available:
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 3 (8.1.7.0.1) for Linux (Intel), with OPS
         Oracle8i Enterprise/Standard Edition Release 3 (8.1.7) for Windows 2000/NT
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition (64-bit) Release 3 (8.1.7) for Sun SPARC Solaris
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 3 (8.1.7) for Sun SPARC Solaris
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 3 (8.1.7) for Compaq Tru64 UNIX
         Oracle8i Enterprise Edition (64-bit) Release 3 (8.1.7) for HP 9000 Series HP-UX
    But nothing for AIX.
We have an urgent requirement to get this up and running for our Dev't work and it would be a great help if we can download it as opposed to waiting 10 days for the CD to be burnt and shipped.
    Thanks...Larry

is there any link which i can use to show that oracle 8i is not suppported for any version of AIX ?Go to the "Lifetime Support Policy: Oracle Technology Products" document, page 4. Found at http://www.oracle.com/support/lifetime-support-policy.html
That document provides 'expiry date' for all most Oracle tech product.

No, the Trial Edition is not supported. You need to install and configure the full BIP 11.1.1.5 version.
