Oracle 8: VARRAY-problem
Hi!
I'm not able to work this out, using a VARRAY in a sql-query:
Her are my structures:
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE tlfliste_vartype AS VARRAY(10) OF VARCHAR2(20);
CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE ansatt_objtype AS OBJECT (
ans_nr NUMBER,
ans_navn VARCHAR2(30),
tlf_nr_var tlfliste_vartype);
CREATE TABLE ansatt_objtab OF ansatt_objtype;
INSERT INTO ansatt_objtab VALUES(1,'HANSEN',tlfliste_vartype('415-555-1212'));
INSERT INTO ansatt_objtab VALUES(2,'OLSEN',tlfliste_vartype('609-555-1212','201-555-1212'));
I've tried this query:
SELECT a.ans_nr, a.ans_navn, t.tlf_nr_var
FROM ansatt_objtab a, table(a.tlf_nr_var) t;
but it doesn't work. I want to list out "ans_nr", "ans_navn" and the belonging telephonenumbers. How do I do it?

Hi,
You are right. u need to edit the ORADIM command. The other way is...
1) Go to control panel
2) Go to services
3) Go to your database service(For example if u r db is DEV your service looks like OracleServiceDEV)
4) go to the properties of it(click starup button).
5) make the startup mode as automatic.
This will start your database when ever u start NT.
Let me know if u still have the problem

Dear Uthaya,
I did all that but I have Still Problem. I am MCSE and I know NT well. This is I think Oracle Problem not NT problem.I want to explain that I change the password of INTERNAL and then restart the Computer.
I have to startup the oracle from the SVRMGR> consoal. And i again change the INTERNAL password that it was by default and I restart the system now the Database is Open and running. So I think the problem is of ORACLE not the NT services.
Please Help Me.

hi
can any body help me?
i have installed oracle developer 10g with oracle 8i database
when i run any form including the test.fmx
it always ask to install JInitiator although it has been installed (appears in the control panel and in c:\program file\oracle folder)
another problem appears after completing the installtion of JInitiator
the browser views the HTML tags of the form not execute it
so does any body have any idea???From the Windows Start menu, choose Run, type regedit, and click OK.
Expand the registry nodes HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > ORACLE.
Make a backup copy of this key by right-clicking it and selecting Export from the context menu.
Select one of the HOME nodes beneath the ORACLE node (the one for Developer Suite). Ensure that you have opened the correct node by verifying that the key FORMS90_PATH exists in that node.
From the Registry Editor menu, select Edit > New > String Value. Type in the name FORMS90_HIDE_OBR_PARAMS.
Double-click FORMS90_HIDE_OBR_PARAMS and in the Value data field enter false, then click OK.
Close the registry editor.
Now when you run a form from Forms Builder, it should show parameters, including userid, in the URL, but it should run fine.
15. Set the path for Forms Builder to locate icons:
a) Double-click the UI_ICON key to open it for editing.
b) For the value data, append the path to the .gif file that you will use for the
button icon, which is the \icons subdirectory of your lab directory. Separate this
path from the remainder of the string with a semicolon; for example:
;e:\labs\lab\icons, then click OK. -

but the problem is that when i take print out of it ,it's printout comes in its intial format(in small font) evenif i choose different type of paper size or different orientation . it's printout is coming in too small font.
pl tell me how to overcome this problem>
The report rendering engine tries to fit the report page into the physical page size. This results in shrinking of font size,etc.
To fix
a) reduce the content on the report to something reasonable for printing.(Std paper sizes and orientation)
b) change the page size selection. Of course, you will need a printer and paper of the size you set.

Oracle Designer Collection problem
Hi all,
this is my first post in this forum, but I've been using it a lot and I'd like to thank everyone that have always helped me through their posts.
Now I have come to a problem to which I can't find a solution...
My problem is the following:
My goal is to import a data model. To do this I have to create certain objects in Oracle Designer, prior to importing the model itself. The reason for this is that if this certain object isn't created, the import itself fails on a given table.
More objectively, the object I'm trying to create in the "Server model" in the "Oracle Collection Type" is a VARRAY of 999999 elements of RAW(2000).
When I try to create this object, I get the following error:
Message
RME-00209: Current activity has outstanding violations
Cause
Could not 'commit' the data because of outstanding
data integrity violations.
Action
Examine violations, fix the invalid data, and try again.
Message
RME-00224: Failed to close activity
Cause
Could not close ('commit') an activity.
Action
Examine other reported errors for specific details.
Message
CDA-00500: Invalid format type <RAW>
Cause
The specified format type is not valid.
Action
Refer to the format type rules in the Designer Meta-model and
API documentation.
This error is on Designer 9.0.2.10 and on Oracle 9.2.0.7 database
If I try the same thing on Designer 10.1.2.4 and on Oracle 10.2.0.1, I get the following:
Message
RME-00020: Internal API error - ORA-06502: PL/SQL: erro numérico ou de valor : o buffer da cadeia de caracteres é demasiado pequeno
Cause
The API has detected an internal inconsistency.
Action
Check the detail of the associated Oracle Server error message
(ORA-xxxxx) and resolve it.
Message
RME-00011: Operation 'close' on ACTIVITY has failed
Cause
An API operation request has failed for some reason.
Action
Examine other reported errors for specific details.
Message
RME-00222: Failed to dispatch operation to Repository
Cause
Requested operation failed because of other errors.
Action

Message
RME-00224: Failed to close activity

Message
CDA-00500: Invalid format type <RAW>
Cause
The specified format type is not valid.
Action
Refer to the format type rules in the Designer Meta-model and
API documentation.
If anyone could shed some light on this, it would be much appreciated.
Best regards to all of you,
FilipeHi Michael. Thank you for your reply.
Nevertheless, I think that what you say is not correct since I can create a VARRAY of NUMBER datatype; the only thing I can't create is a VARRAY of RAW datatype.
Can you, or anyone, comment on this?
Thank you.

Filipe

Accessing ORACLE's VARRAY using JDBC
Hi,
I have a created a VARRAY type like following in ORACLE:
CREATE OR REPLACE
TYPE opr_typ_attrib_val_arr AS TABLE OF VARCHAR2 (255)
I am trying to access this VARRAY using the following java code:
ArrayDescriptor arrayDesc = ArrayDescriptor.createDescriptor("opr_typ_attrib_val_arr ", (OracleConnection)connection);
String arrayValues[] = {"123", "234"};
ARRAY array = new ARRAY(arrayDesc, connection, arrayValues);
But in the very first statement, where I am getting the object of ArrayDescriptor, I am getting the java.lang.ClassCastException exception.
I am using oracle type 4 thin driver. And the above mentioned code I have written in EJB.
"connection" is a valid connection object.
Could anybody help me out to resolve this issue.
Thanks in advance.
AmitHi,
With a snap shot of your code it would hv been more easier to pinpoint your problem.
However this is how I am doing it:
(the thin driver, classes12.zip must be in the classpath)
--In the Oracle PL/SLQ proc:
type REC_TYPE is ref cursor;
FUNCTION spFindBid(
p_ORDCreateSeq in number,
p_RAT in number,
p_prdID in number,
p_ACCTID in number,
p_LAMT in number) return REC_TYPE
IS
rc REC_TYPE;
begin
open rc for
SELECT * from table_name
return rc;
// in the Java code:
import oracle.jdbc.driver.*;
//besides other imports.
CallableStatement cs
= cn.prepareCall("{? =....}");
cs.registerOutParameter(1,
OracleTypes.CURSOR);
cs.setString(1, "XXXX");
cs.execute();
java.sql.ResultSet rs =
(java.sql.ResultSet)cs.getObject(1);
//this will return a standard resultSet,
//as what is recvd when we execute a
//SELECT via standard, CreateStatement()....
//loop on it while(rs.next()) to get
//the dataI am using the 100% Java thin driver.
I could not figure how to use an OCI 8 driver
with a Standalone Java program (not weblogic). Could not find a driver as a(.zip/.jar) file. OCI8 has more easier ways of accessing OracleDB.

OracleAS 10g Installation Problem on RedHat AS 3.0
Hi
I need to install OracleAS 10g on RedHat AS 3.0 and it seems that I need a patch (Patch 3006854) and the installation is impossible without it.I just started using oracleAS 10g and I dont have any metalink id.
I think something is wrong here.
a free trial version with a commercial patch !!!
can any one please help me out.
regards yashardear fredrik
I tried to install it according to the installation guid on http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/10g/OracleAS10gInstallationOnRedHatAS3.php as you see it asked for installation of a patch.
and yes I tried to install it without installing this patch and I got an error saying that I am missing a file named ld.so in /etc.I thought it might be connected to that patch.
beside when I was looking for the solution to my problem I saw many people having the same problem and asking the exact same question.
please notify about any solution that you think might help me solving this problem. I am in a hurry

When i look at the Cache location, i see the file f90all_jinit.jar-4cf20c5f-178c08b8(zipped). The size of this file stays the same even though browser keeps spinning. Not sure what is going on. I've verified that the Forms servers is still running on the HP box.
Tried Jinitator 1.3.1.6, 1.3.1.8, 1.3.1.9 and 1.3.1.13. We've also tried Windows XP (IE6) as well as Windows NT (IE5). Same result on all the platforms.
Had spent a LOT of time trouble shooting this problem. Any help is highly appreciated.
thanks,
JeganThanks a lot Wayne !
I tried with "./server.....bin -mode=console". I am facing the same problem.
Although weblogic installation completes, it still just hangs at "Copying JDK....".

Hi,
I am trying to install Weblogic 7.01 evaluation copy on HP-UX 11.00.After exporting
DISPLAY variable to my workstation, when I run "./server701_hpux.bin",the extraction
of the files is successful, followed by some warning messages regardingthe fonts
and then the BEA Weblogic startup screen comes up. But it hangs thereforever.
I am attaching the output. If I run "./server..." in text mode i.e.without
exporting DISPLAY variable, although the installation of Weblogic softwareis
successful, but it hangs at "Copying JDK..." i.e. hangs at JDK installation.
I already have JDK installation on my HP-UX system (1.3.1_02).
If someone knows how to solve this problem, please let me know. Also,as I already
have JDK installation on my system, is it possible to disable JDK installation
in weblogic installation.
Thanks in Advance.

Oracle 9i Installation Problem on XP
Help!
Downloaded Oracle 9i yesterday.
Created disk1/2/3 folders as instructed. Installation worked for disk1, and part of 2.
Installation stopped at 37% installation of PL/SQL (left it all night).
Cancelled out and stopped installation on the whole product.
Now I can not able to install or uninstall!!
Product does not show up in the control system/add remove program.
NO UNINSTALL executable with the oracle download.
Does anyone know what registry files to delete?
Can't delete oracle folder as message says oci.dll in use.
Don't see any oracle process in task manager.
SandhyaSame kind of problem I come across.
What I did was. Cleared the registry information and I installed again. Worked for me fine. May be it will work for you too.
May be this time you will success.
Good Luck.
Directions
Run : regedit (Start ->Run)
Look for the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> Software --> Oracle
