ORACLE 817 and above IS NOT certified on RedHat 7.1 and above

Hi,
ORACLE 817 and above is not certified on RedHat 7.1 and above.
I would not waste any time. Rather would go with
SUSE (It works like a charm...) http://www.suse.de/en/support/oracle/
or TurboLinux
Regards,
Sebastian

Go to www.oracle.com.
click on downloads in the upper right.
Select 8i Enterprise edition in the select product box.
select 8.1.7 for linux.
You should see the glibc patch on this page.
you will need a userid and password to the oracle technology network, but these are free if you do not have one.
Thanks

  • How to install Oracle 817 Client on Redhat Linux7.2

I try to install oracle 817 client on a dell server running Redhat Linux7.2, the installer won't start. Are there any pre-requisites I have to set for client install to work on linux? Does 817 installer work on Linux7.2?
    Thanks,

    Joe,
I have the same issue. It's probably due to an incompatibility of the jdk 1.1.8 on the CD.
Have you tried using another one ? http://www.blackdown.org/

  • Oracle UEK and ASMLIB not seeing volumes in OUI - missing utilities?

    Hello,
I recently installed Oracle Linux 5.5 from scratch and upgraded to the Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise Linux.
According to http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/topics/linux/asmlib/index-101839.html No ASMLIB driver package needs to be installed when using this kernel.  The oracleasm-support and oracleasmlib packages still need to be installed from ULN. I installed oracleasmlib and oracleasm-support using public yum. Then I used /etc/init.d/oracleasm to configuring and label the ASM disks, and also installed the oracle-validated rpm. /etc/init.d/oracleasm listdisks properly showed the ASM volumes.
However, the Oracle 11gR2 Grid installer did not see any available volumes, like it did before, nor did it when specifying the ORCL:* diskstring. The volumes started to show up in the installer after specifying "/dev/oracleasm/disks" as the diskstring.
Could it be the reason that some software or utilities from the ASMLIB package is missing, i.e. /usr/sbin/oracleasm-discover?
    Thanks.
    h3. Solution Summary
I was missing the oracleasmlib package, which I confused with oracleasm. The oracleasm package contains only the kernel driver, which is included in the Oracle Unbreakable Enterprise kernel (2.6.32-100.0.19.el5) and does not need to be installed.
The oracleasm-support and oracelasmlib packages are still required. If you do not have paid access to the ULN network you can install the oracleasm-support rpm from Oracle's public yum repository (http://public-yum.oracle.com/).
To install oracleasmlib you can try: rpm -ivh 'http://download.oracle.com/otn_software/asmlib/oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el5.x86_64.rpm'

Perhaps I can answer my question: The html document above outlines that oracleasm-support and oracleasmlib packages are still required.
    What I installed was:
    [root@ol55 ~]# yum list *oracleasm*
    Loaded plugins: security
    Installed Packages
    oracleasm-2.6.18-194.el5.x86_64            2.0.5-1.el5       installed
    oracleasm-support.x86_64                   2.1.3-1.el5       installed
    Available Packages
    oracleasm-2.6.18-194.el5debug.x86_64       2.0.5-1.el5       el5_u5_base
oracleasm-2.6.18-194.el5xen.x86_64         2.0.5-1.el5       el5_u5_baseThe */usr/sbin/oracleasm-discover* utility is part of oracleasmlib, and this package is missing.
I suppose I do not need to install oracleasm-2.6.18-194.el5.x86_64, which contains the kernel driver that is included in the UEK - which I confused with oracleasmlib.
Here is what tried to rectify the problem:
    # yum remove oracleasm
    - this removed
        kernel.x86_64 0:2.6.32-100.0.19.el5,
        oracleasm-2.6.18-194.el5.x86_64 0:2.0.5-1.el5,
        oracle-validated.x86_64 0:1.1.0-3.el5
    # yum install kernel
    # yum install oracle-validated
    # yum install oracleasmlib
-> No package oracleasmlib available. But where is oracleasmlib? Reading the document above one more time: ... oracleasm-support and oracleasmlib packages still need to be installed from ULN.
Is it possible that oracleasmlib for UEK is only available with a ULN subscription?

I downloaded and installed oracleasmlib using the following:
    rpm -ivh http://download.oracle.com/otn_software/asmlib/oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el5.x86_64.rpm
    # /usr/sbin/oracleasm-discover ORCL:*

  • After updating to ios 7.0.6 i keep getting an error message saying "this cable or accessory is not certified and will not work reliably with this iphone" every two minutes and its annoying

What is up with this error message after updating saying our cables are not reliable?

Thank you for this suggestion, but the message continues to display every couple of minutes. (e.g. "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone.)
Not only is it annoying and concerning...this is draining my battery, as the iPhone keeps waking up to display the message over and over. Like "MartinLegodi" above, I also have no cable or accessory plugged in and only use Apple cable and products when I do.
    It's a disconcerting mystery.

  • Oracle has not certified Hyperion products on virtualized servers

    Hyperion's official stance:
    Oracle has not certified Hyperion products on virtualized environments;
I'm surprised that there are users in this forum who are using VMware instead of physical servers. If you run into a bug, Oracle tech support require you to replicate that bug in physical servers before they will help you.
Also, consultants tell us that data has been known to be lost by virtual servers.
Has anyone good results from running Planning and Essbase on VMware?

Thats right I dont personally have access to Metalink2.
    I found a statement on Metalink3:
Click the knowledge tab, go to Advanced Search, tick all sources and in the Doc ID field enter 588303.1. Hit Search!
    You get the following statement:
    Hyperion Essbase
    Goal
Describe support for Oracle's Hyperion Products in virtualized environments.
    Solution
Oracle has not certified Hyperion products on third-party virtualized environments; however, Oracle Support will assist customers running Oracle’s Hyperion products on third-party virtualized environments as follows:
When a customer logs a previously unreported issue, Oracle Support may require the issue to be diagnosed in a non-virtualized environment when there is reason to believe that the virtual environment is a contributing factor. Oracle Support may refer customers to the third-part virtualization vendor for issues that can not be duplicated in non-virtualized environments.
When a problem has been previously reported and a resolution is available, Oracle support will recommend the appropriate solution on the non-virtualized OS. If that solution does not work in the virtual environment, the customer will be referred to their virtualization software vendor for support. If the customer demonstrates that the Oracle solution does not work when running on a non-virtualized OS, Oracle will resume support, including logging a bug with Oracle Development for investigation if required.
While Oracle’s Hyperion products are expected to function properly in virtual environments, there may be performance implications, which can invalidate Oracle’s typical sizing recommendations. An analysis should be performed within the context of the specific application to be hosted in the virtual environment to mitigate potential resource contention, as this can result in degradation of performance and scalability, particularly under peak load.
For further information on support for Hyperion products running on Oracle VM, please see Note 466538.1 and Note 464754.1 in MetaLink2 (a href="https://metalink.oracle.com)
    Hope this helps.

  • IPod Touch won't sync, false "this cable or accessory is not certified" and several other errors

Helping my dad long-distance with his iPod Touch 5th generation, running 8.1.1.
He's having several problems trying to sync the thing:
    1) "This cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with your iPod" error, even though he's using the cable that came with the device, when connecting to his Mac. (This happens with both certified Apple cables he owns.)
1.1) He's unable to take screenshots of this error, even though he can take screenshots of any other screen.
    2) Won't charge when connected to his Mac (does charge when connected to his 5w cube).
    3) Connecting to Mac dones't launch iTunes, but does launch iPhoto.
    4) Sometimes, even after launching iTunes manually, the iPod doesn't show up.
    5) We we can get the iPod and iTunes to talk to each other, he gets 7/8ths through syncing, then gets the error "Some of the videos in your iTunes Library, including the video IMG0925.jpg, were not copied to the iPod because they cannot be played on this iPod." — yes, the "videos" that won't "play" on his iPod are all JPEGs.
    6) When clicking [OK] to clear problem #5, it's always followed by "iTunes cannot back up the iPod (device name) because an error occurred." Even though it was 7/8ths done before the error occurred.
    7) Issue 5 and 6 occur when connected to the Mac over wifi too. (We've tried with wifi backup both off and on.)
    7) He's randomly prompted for his iCloud password at least 3-4 times a week. Entering it doesn't make this problem go away.
    8) Tried to update to 8.1.2 (hoping it would fix some of these issues), but after tapping [Agree] in the overlay screen, he's taken back to the T&C screen with [Decline] and [Agree] buttons at the bottom, and NOTHING happens.
So we he back up via any means, he can't upgrade, and we can't wipe and restore because he'll lose a month's worth of updates to calendar and address book.
I'm know my way around Mac and iOS, and I'm stumped. Anybody got anything?

  • Since I downloaded the upgraded software, my charger that came with my phone says "this cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iphone"  It worked before but now it doesn't...I don't think I should have to buy a new one...

since I upgraded to the new operating system my charger no longer works...
It says"this cable or accessory is not certified and may not work reliably with this iPhone"

Try checking your cable socket/lightning cable for dirt, grime, pocket lint, etc. I could not find the solution to this issue myself and after much searching I found someone stating that cleaning this out helped them immensely.
After taking a wooden toothpick (making sure the phone was OFF first) and gently clearing out the edges and inside of the lightning socket this went away.) It is worth noting that I had a significant amount of dust or lint buildup along the edge rails which I think was causing the iphone to believe it was plugged into something when it was not.
Try it and see, ensure you are very careful and do not use any conductive tools to clean the area in question. Compressed air also does wonders here.

  • My iPhone cable gave me a warning this morning that it was  not certified to work with this phone, but it is the cable that came with the phone and that i have been using for a year and a half.  Why?

i plugged in my 18 month old iPhone to charge it, using the cable that came with it and that I have used regularly all along. I got a warning on my phone screen saying the cable is not certified and may not work properly with my iPhone.  Why?

If you updated iPhone to iOS7, it now checks for real Apple Lightning Cable. Your cable may not be Apple, or someone swapped another cable with yours. Make sure the cable end is clean, take a clean dry toothbrush and carefully clean charging port on the iPhone.

  • New Note 790189.1 - Oracle Clusterware and Application Failover Management

    Hi all,
please, note the newly created Metalink Note 790189.1 - Oracle Clusterware and Application Failover Management if you want to use Oracle Clusterware as a general purpose cluster solution. The note intends to clarify and to explain the current situation in regards to the supportability of applications managed by Oracle Clusterware.
In environments not including Oracle RAC, Oracle Clusterware still provides the level of high availability that is commonly known to be achievable for applications and databases managed in (failover) cluster environments. These environments can include Oracle Single Instance Databases, Oracle Application Servers, Oracle Enterprise Manager components, third party databases, or any other kind of application. (For more information on Oracle Clusterware 11g in general, please, refer to [Oracle Clusterware homepage|http://otn.oracle.com/clusterware].)
Metalink Note 790189.1 - Oracle Clusterware and Application Failover Management is tightly integrated with the information on application failover management available on the [Oracle Clusterware homepage|http://otn.oracle.com/clusterware] and discusses typical questions like
    * Terminology
    * Script supportability and preconfigured agents
    * How to prove that action scripts work outside of Oracle Clusterware
    * Supportability of the Oracle Database Single Instance example scripts
    * How do I know whether a certain script is supported as a preconfigured agent?
Metalink Note 790189.1, however, does not change the level of support that has been introduced for these kind of configurations as of Oracle Database 10g Release 2: "Generally, Oracle does not support action scripts in the strict terms of supporting individual code fragments. Oracle fully supports the integration of individual action scripts proven to run outside of Oracle Clusterware into the Oracle Clusterware management stack. Supported operations therefore typically involve crs_* commands such as crs_profile, crs_register, crs_setperm, crs_getperm, crs_start, crs_stop, and crs_relocate invoked on custom resources. If actions scripts are used as part of a preconfigured agent, Oracle or the application provider who provides the agent will support the integration of this agent, while only the application provider will provide support for the individual action scripts."
    Just for your information. Thanks,
    Markus
