Oracle 8i, Apache server and Intel P4

Is somebodey out there that managed to install Oracle 8i DB and
Apache HTTP server on computer with Intel P4 (Windows 2000 Pro,
1GB RAM, 20GB HDD)? Do examples (JSPs, Java beans, JDBC
connections...) on Apcahe work?
In our case we already spent too much time with workaround's
(from metalink) and we have no success!
Thank you for helping us.

Im not sure I understand your question. Can you give me mroe
details please?
Thanks,

  • Oracle9i Apache Server and Tomcat

    Hi,
    Currently I have an Oracle9i database installed which has it's own Apache Webserver installed but I don't use it. Instead I am using the latest version of Apache in another directory. What I would like to do is upgrade the version of Apache that came with the Oracle9i database installation and then delete the extra Apache Webserver I am using now? Is it as simple as replacing the contents of the ORACLE_HOME/Apache/Apache folder?
    I also use Tomcat to serve up the servlets and JSP's...does Oracle9i have anything similar to Tomcat already integrated? If not could I install Tomcat into the ORACLE_HOME/Apache folder instead of having it reside in another directory?
    TIA.

    r.- why do you want to do that if the Apache that comes with Oracle has more resources than the another Apache ?

  • Apache Server and Tomcat integration

    Where can I get some information on installing Tomcat to work with an existing Apache server. I have read a couple of books that do not go into detail on this topic.
    I have a webserver set up serving a number of sites and with to move into JSP development, but want to make sure the transition, during the research phase, is seamless.

    You should go to http://jakarta.apache.org/tomcat/index.html then click on the documentation link for the version of Tomcat that your running. Good luck.

  • Apache Web Server and Intel Mini Mac

    I've set up a web site hosted at home as I do expect a great deal of traffic on it on an Intel Mac Mini. The mac mini goes to 'sleep' and when it does I can not access it unless I get someone at home to wake it up!. The mini is behind 'behind' a netgear router.
    Does any one know how I can do this. I have the same problem at my office using netopia which if the office machine is asleep will not function.
    Question - How to wake up a mac mini when they are asleep?
    Guy

    Set the machine up to not to sleep. System Preferences>Energy Saver. Set sleep to Never. Put the display to sleep at whatever time you want.

    2. Apache was not compiled with DSO support (--enable-module=so);
    3. 'apxs' is not in your path.
    anybody knows about this strict.pm script ?
    thanks

    It should be relatively straight forward.
    If you have WAR files which you've deployed to Tomcat, then you should pretty much be able to deploy them as is to OracleAS using the application server control management console.
    The mgt console has support for WAR file deployment.
    In the documentation, the User's Guide is a good book to read to get up to speed.
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10464_02/web.htm
    If you have just a collection of JSPs as your application, then I'd recommend you put them into a WAR file archive, and then deploy that.

  • Oracle 9i database server and Space

    Hi,
    I am new to Oracle. I installed 9i database server ( personal edition) on my machine at home just to play around and get a feel of Oracle. Unfortunately within a month my Harddrive was maxed out to full capacity of 72 Gigs. I had only used 12 Gigs when I first installed Oracle a month ago. I had to uninstall it completely from my computer. I am wondering if anyone has had this problem or how to rectify the problem

  • Oracle 10g Application server and EJB

    Hi all,
    I am developing a Stateless session bean. I want to save its remote reference through a client so that I can call it later. The code is working fine in Websphere 6.0 but not in OC4J 10.1.3.
    The Client Code is:
    Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
    //Setting properties

    env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, security_principal);
    env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, security_credentials);

    Any help will be appriciated.
    Thanks....

    Hello,
    If is it not too late, here is a hint:
    It is not evident the value for "ctxFactory" as you specify the properties needed by the client app to look up your Session Bean:
         env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, ctxFactory);
         ...So, before you specify such value (the fully qualified classname to the proper InitialContextFactory), you need to define which type of client your app is:
    1. A web app running in another container,
    2. A standalone java app running in its own JVM,
    3. An EJB or any other server module running on the same container...
    It is important to define the type of application client that is attempting to look up remotely an EJB component because the implementation of the lookup algorithms differs a lot..
    Later on, you use a system property which is deprecated as of 10.1.3:
         env.put(("dedicated.rmicontext","true");
         ...Did you setup a cluster topology? or else, what may be the requirement for such property?
    Hope it helps

  • Difference between Tom Cat Server,Apache Server and IIS

    HI
    While looking at the exsting threads i saw someone posted something about these servers . But i',m still confused. Should i use both Tom cat and Apache or only apache to develop the web application. If yes then can i use Tom Cat with Apache
    Thanks
    Cookie

    Well Apache is just a webserver that serves static webpages. Tomcat is used to interpret JSP's and serve servlets. If you plan to use JSP or Servlets, out of your choices, you'll have to use Tomcat. Speaking generally, you could probably use Tomcat for everything; it too can serve static webpages, but for a professional project, you'd probably want to use both Apache and Tomcat. IIS is overkill unless you're going to ASP.

  • Auditing in oracle 10g database and oracle 10g application server

    Dear friends,
    We have oracle 10g application server and oracle 10g database server in place.My criteria is to audit users connected using oracle application user credentials to the database.
    Can you please tell me how can i do it.
    Thanks & regards,

    Its the database connection you want to track. The session audit will show where it came from.
    Auditing is turned using this command:
    alter system set audit_trail = DB scope=spfile;
    Note: The use of spfile will require a DB bounce before audit starts
    To audit Sessions:
    audit create session;
    Query by Audit Type:
    SELECT A.USERNAME,
    OS_USERNAME,
    A.TIMESTAMP,
    A.RETURNCODE,
    TERMINAL,
    USERHOST
    FROM DBA_AUDIT_SESSION A
    WHERE USERHOST = <replace with iAS servername> ;
    By User
    SELECT USERNAME,OBJ_NAME,ACTION_NAME , TIMESTAMP
    FROM DBA_AUDIT_TRAIL WHERE USERNAME = 'SCOTT';
    Check for users sharing database accounts
    select count(distinct(terminal)),username
    from dba_audit_session
    having count(distinct(terminal))>1
    group by username;
    Attempts to access the database at unusual hours
    SELECT username, terminal, action_name, returncode,
    TO_CHAR (TIMESTAMP, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS'),
    TO_CHAR (logoff_time, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
    FROM dba_audit_session
    WHERE TO_DATE (TO_CHAR (TIMESTAMP, 'HH24:MI:SS'), 'HH24:MI:SS') <
    TO_DATE ('08:00:00', 'HH24:MI:SS')
    OR TO_DATE (TO_CHAR (TIMESTAMP, 'HH24:MI:SS'), 'HH24:MI:SS') >
    TO_DATE ('19:30:00', 'HH24:MI:SS');
    Attempts to access the database with non-existent users
    SELECT username, terminal, TO_CHAR (TIMESTAMP, 'DD-MON-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')
    FROM dba_audit_session
    WHERE returncode <> 0
    AND NOT EXISTS (SELECT 'x'
    FROM dba_users
    WHERE dba_users.username = dba_audit_session.username);
    Other audits you might consider:
    audit grant any object privilege;
    audit alter user;
    audit create user;
    audit drop user;
    audit drop tablespace;
    audit grant any role;
    audit grant any privilege;

  • JMX and Oracle's Application Server

    Hello,
    I am building a new EJB application and wanted to add logging support to it via Log4j (which I was considering doing using JMX). The EJB application must be deployable on both Oracle's application server and JBoss- (all development centers around Jboss now). Looking through the Log4j list archives it was recommended that the "loggers" be retrieved from JNDI. To get the loggers into JNDI and facilitate runtime configuration, I was considering using JMX (MBean) to set things up. Will my proposed solution work on Oracle's application server?

  • Oracle 9i Application Server+Oracle 8i EE+ Forms on the web Very urgent

    Hi,
    I have correctly install Oracle 9i Application Server and Oracle 8i Entreprise Edition on Windows 2000. What are the following steps to follow in order to run a form on the web. example: test.fmx?
    Thanks in advance.
    null

    If your web server is working and the forms server is running type:
    http://ip addr:port/dev60html/runform.htm
    You need to put the ip address or name of your server in and the port number apache is running on (leave blank if this is 80).
    This gives you the Oracle Forms start screen.
