ORACLE 8i INSTALLER WITH P4 ISSUES AND TNS ERROR WITH 9i

I want to thank those that have been of help on this subject matter. Finally after 2 agonised weeks, I was able to get around the Oracle 8i installer not able to run on my Pentium 4 laptop. Also having problem logging in to 9i SQL*PLUS. I just want to reinstate that by renaming the file symcjit.dll to symcjit.old does not work automatically. I tried it on Oracle 8.1.6 and 8.1.7(Enterprise/Standard/Personal) many times. Although it did work with Oracle Personal 8.1.6 at one point in time after the system has already 9i installed. After uninstalling the 9i, the installer stopped working again. I WAS NOT SURE IF ORACLE HAS THIS ORACLE 9i DATABASE ENTERPRISE/STANDARD/PERSONAL FOR WINDOWS NT/2000/XP ON CD. THE ONE I BOUGHT IS THE 9IAS AND 9IDS (2 Boxes) WHICH WILL NOT CONFIGURE YOUR DATABASE FOR YOU.
When I was about to give up after doing some more research, then I saw the download for "Oracle9i Database Enterprise/Standard/Personal Edition for Windows NT/2000/XP". I followed the exact direction, but did everything in my directory and not DOS since I don't know the command for unzipping files in DOS. By unzipping all the files in their respective folders Disk1/Disk2/Disk3, and going to install/win32/setup.exe, the rest of the installation went smoothly, when the system prompt for the location of the next disk, just type 2 and then 3. The installation configured everything like tnsnmaes, instances, databases e.t.c. All I did was suppied the password for Sys and System.
By downloading this particular file, I was able to bypass any configuration which is a pain, but not for you DBA guys out there. THE DOCUMENTATION FOR THESE CD,s DID NOT GIVE EXACT STEP BY STEP FOR CONFIGURATION, ONLY INSTALLATION. I AM A DEVELOPER AND NOT A DBA. Orale 8i is more easy to confugure than 9i. I WAS ALSO ABLE TO INSTALL 6i, 9ids AND SQL NAVIGATOR ON TOP OF THIS 9i, AND ALL CONNECTIONS WORKED PERFECTLY BY USING SYS OR SYSTEM AND THE PASSWORD I SUPPLIED DURING INSTALLATION.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

We are facing deadlock with thread issues while generating report with Crystal Report XI
Version Number is 11.0 and the database used is Oracle
In the log file on line number 74350 by 2008/12/16 13:35:54 there is a dead lock with Thread: u20184u2019 is waiting to acquire lock for 'com.crystaldecisions.reports.queryengine.av@15214b9' which is held by the Thread: '0'.
And a dead lock with Thread: u20180u2019 is waiting to acquire lock for 'com.crystaldecisions.reports.queryengine.av@15214b9' which is held by the Thread: '4'.
Exactly after 10 minutes we can see the thread 4 and 0 are declared as STUCK by 2008/12/16 13:45:54 .
Is this an existing issue with Crystal Report?
Is there some solution for this problem?

So I'm thinking ??? are they the same objects?
My specific question concerning the ReportClientDocument is that both are calling open - i.e., trying to open a new report. You wouldn't be trying to open different reports using the same ReportClientDocument - so was wondering if you've cached the RCD and trying to open two different reports at the same time on the same instance via different threads.
You'd normally tie a ReportClientDocument instance to a HTTP Session, to ensure each user gets their own copy.

Maybe a bit beside the question, but it is always recommended here to open/save from/to own hard disk, and to copy from/to networks and removable media. You may be lucky, at least for a while, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

I need to create dashboard prompt with date-filter and initialize it with current date. How can I do that?
I tried to create repository initialization block and add variable. But I don't know what should I write to DataSource? I tried to use functions Now(), Current_Date, sysdate (for example, SELECT Now() FROM tbl_Calendar) but without results - when I pressed "Test..." button I got errors - something like "Now() is unknown function" or "Incorrect syntax near key word Current_Date".
After that I tied to use Presentation Variable in Prompt, but also without success ((

I've created Repository Variable "CurrentDate", using SQL-query like this "select convert(varchar(10), getdate(), 104)" and now this variable is being initialized by value "07.04.2011". But I don't understand how to use this varible in DashboardPrompt! What item in list "Default selection" I should choose - "Variable Expression", "Server Variable" or something else? I shut it off took out the battery, reinstalled the battery. Then I put in the Snow Leopard CD and booted up to disk utility and The Snow Leopard partion would not show up?? I do see the microsoft partion.

Have you restarted holding down the Opt key? That procedure should give you a gray screen with all of the partitions that exist. Then select the SL partition for boot. Also go to System Preferences and Startup Disk, unlock the lock and select the SL partition as the default boot partition, then relock.

Wind mobile wasnt supporting Iphones until they decided to let people use Iphone 5s with their $40 plan.And as i know, Turkey is the only country that asks you to register the imei on your passport to use it. The easiest way would be to go to menu>settings>accounts & sync, select the account (I'm assuming you're referring to your gmail account, so select google), then press the remove account button at the bottom. You may lose all your contacts and other data associated with your google account, possibly even your apps, so be aware of this beforehand. You can then add the new account from the accounts & sync menu.
If you are willing to completely start over with your phone, another alternative would be to factory reset it (menu>settings>privacy>factory data reset). This will return your phone to an out-of-the-box condition, and you can use a different gmail address if you like.

Oracle 10g Installation ./runInstaller Issue

I have RHEL 5 64 bit OS installed Oracle 10g Release 10.2.0.1.0
at end of oracle installation there is one error.
ERROR
OUI-10058: The OUI Inventory on this system does not exits or is not writable .
1-The /opt/oracle/oraInventory/orainstRoot.sh script was not executed with root privileges,
or an error occurred during execution;
2-You are not a member of the specified installer gourp
So i run
cd /u01/app/oracle/oraInventory/
./orainstRoot.sh
Changing permissions of /u01/app/oracle/oraInventory to 770.
Changing groupname of /u01/app/oracle/oraInventory to oinstall.
The execution of the script is complete
And i am running version upgrade package p6810189_10204_Linux-x86-64.
cd /u01/Disk1/
./runInstaller
Starting Oracle Universal Installer...
Checking installer requirements...
Checking operating system version: must be redhat-3, SuSE-9, SuSE-10, redhat-4, redhat-5, UnitedLinux-1.0, asianux-1, asianux-2 or asianux-3

Oracle Universal Installer doesn't start on Windows2000 prof. with P-4 processor

Hi all,
the problem is that when I try to install Oracle 8.1.7.0.0 EE on my computer with P-4 processor with OS WIndows2000 simply nothing happens. The installation process just starts up end exits after several seconds without any error messages.
Earlier I succefully installed the same program on the Windows2000 with P-3 processor. Have anybody encountered already such problem?

The version provided with the Orcale installer is older then the one provided with JDK 1.1.8_008 even though if you inspect the properties of these various files they all appear to be the same.
Download the JDK 1.1.8_008, find this file and replace the installer versions with it and all should be well!

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?
