Oracle 8i Lite for CE

Does Oracle 8i Lite for CE run on the Jornada 720. This handheld is using the StrongARM SA1110 processor. The core system version is 3.0.

Hi,
I'm runing Oracle8i Lite in windows ME, and I do get the an error saying that the server is too low for this feature, but I get the SQL prompt right away after that. Maybe u should configure the password in the Oracle 8 Navigator, by selecting the new Object icon, and then register your new Database connection.
Good luck

  • Oracle 8i Lite for Linux, Is it available?

    Hi all,
Wanted to know if Oracle 8i Lite is available for Linux.
    Thanks

    Hi DH,
On Oracle 8.1.5 the Oracle client is on the same CD as the Oracle server. I didn't receive the 8.1.6 version yet, but I expect its not any different.
When you run the OUI, you get the options 'Oracle8i Enterprise Edition', 'Oracle Client' and ;Oracle Programmer'. Just select Oracle Client, and the client will be installed

  • Opinion of ORACLE personal/ Lite for a Palm subsystem

I am trying to decouple an existing Palm subsystem from an application. This would involve no change to the software on the Palm but would mean having to keep a small database on a PC. Can somebody confirm for me that
    (i) Lite is strictly a piece of software for mobile devices only and is not a good solution for storing local data on PCs
(ii) Is ORACLE Personal a useful database or would people out there recommend different for PCs ?

Are you getting the complete file when downloading? i.e. the filesize on your disk matches the size listed on OTN.

Can anybody please tell me how to install oracle application server 10.2 for oracle database lite (i use oracle database lite for my final project). I use wi-fi connection to synchronize between pda and my laptop as server. Should i install oracle internet directory before installing oracle application server? I have difficulties in installing application server, what are the options should i take in every page of installation? Thanks before.

Install with the base, do not select any other options. Only choose webcache if you require the use of a software load balancer.

    Dear Oracle Development Team,
Hitachi & Cytale are launching a project with the INSEE (National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies), to equip their enquirers with a mobile platform (the Cybook Pro), to update national databases on a daily basis (e.g. the French Consumer Price Index).
The INSEE considers integrating Oracle 9i Lite solution into their software architecture.
Before moving developments any further, we need to know:
    - whether you are willing to compile Oracle 9i Lite for our platform;
    - if so, when the release can be expected for tests and development.
    Notes:
    - The Cybook Pro runs Windows 3.0 on a PowerPC 821 (PPC821).
    - The ODBC module of Oracle 9i Lite will be used.
    - If needed, we can provide you with a PPC821 SDK.
    - We (Cytale & INSEE) are willing to help if tests need be done.
    - The INSEE will have their choices finalized by the end of May, feasibility and development tests must be fully completed before that date.
Companies working on the project are:
    - Hitachi <http://www.hitachi.fr>
    - INSEE <http://www.insee.fr>
    - Cytale <http://www.cytale.com>
We are looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible.

This is caused by a bug in Oracle's ODBC API for Windows CE in
the dbaccess.cpp header file. It can be fixed by doing the
    following;
    at (or about) line 155;
    Inside For Loop, before
    'if(::SQLGetData' statement.
    memset(&g_szBuff, 0, sizeof(g_szBuff));
This will reset the memory for the data column after it has been
    read.
Oracle would have to implement this fix and then recompile mSQL
in order for mSQL to display NULL values correctly.
    Cheers,
    Allen.
    >
Actually the problem is not (only) in mSQL as we are using the
API to view the data and are seeing the same result. We suspect
the problem is in the API which mSQL is probably also using to
    access the data.

3)I have also tried creating service name with bequath protocol
    nothing works
Pls Help. Any lead is appreciated

    Hi
Your oracle database and forms are installed on different oracle home so when you configurate your sql net that time you are configurating only your oracle database. So for form you must be having different oracle home. you cand change thid from start/oracle inatallation products/home selecter. so change our home and run the form. and if still having problem than check for tnsnames.ora file you must be having two files and both must be having right configuration.
    thanks

  • Oracle 8i Lite Synchronizatoin Problem--Very Crucial and Urgent

Currently,we are using Oracle 8i lite Version Release 4.0.1 in
    our project.
Following is the problem we are facing during Web-To-Go
    Synchronization.
We have published about 200 snapshots of tables on the Web-to-go
    server.
    After Installing the Web-to-Go Client,
the first time we went Offline, both the webtogo.odb and the
user odb got downloaded to the client's machine.
the size of user odb was about 10.7 MB containing 200
snapshots, without any data and the application about 15 MB.
We checked up the odb using plus80 and verified that all the
tables have been created(200 snapshots+200 snapshot logs).
Once we went Online , a memory/application error (illegal
operation, unable to access memory) was displayed. The m1 file
also remained in the client's machine.
Basically the synchronization fails from client to server.
Everytime the synchronization is fine,if the odb needs to be
created freshly, but once created and synchronized, the same error
    is displayed.
We tried publishing with a reduced no of tables, and it went on
fine with both offline and online up to a size 8.28MB,with
    about 152 tables.
An increase of even 10 KB by an addition of 2 more tables, gives
    out the same error.
The limit on the no of snapshots is specified as 256 per refresh
    group.
We are using only 200 as of now and that should be ok.
Please let us know the possible reasons for such kind of a
    problem.
Let us know in case of any other clarification regarding the
    problem.
Is there any limitation or requirement at the client site,w.rt
    memory?
    Pls Help
    Meena.

    Hi,
I have the same problem but, how can i know what my SID is ? i am trying with "ORCL" and it doesnt work.
Do you know in which file i can get it ? in the documentation of the installation i found this:
"If you are not sure of the values to enter for the URL, then you can query the data dictionary to obtain these values.
Connect as SYSTEM and run the following queries.
    To retrieve the SID, execute: select instance_name from v$instance;
If you need to retrieve the port number, check the listener.ora file on the
    back-end database."
But how can i query the database if i have not finished to install it yet and where is located the listener.ora file ?
I hope you can help me.
    Thank you.

  • JDBC2 support for Oracle 8i Lite

    Hi,
I was just wondering if the JDBC driver included with Oracle 8i Lite supports JDBC2, and if not, is there a newer version that does (I couldn't find anything on the downloads page).
    Thanks,
    Raj.

Just wondering if any one has been able to write a CodeWarrior project that connects to a database through ODBC. I've been having problems compiling my CodeWarrior project file. I am trying to use my existing code which connects to a DB2 Everywhere database, but instead replacing it with an Oracle 8i Lite database.
If any one has had experience with this, e-mail me at [email protected]
    Thanks for your help.

    SQLFreeConnect

    SQLDisconnect

Is it a correct assumption that since I used these ODBC functions from DB2 Everywhere (which were in the DB2e library and header files), that I can still use these functions with Oracle 8i Lite? Isn't the ODBC API for Oracle Lite standard for all ODBC applications? Or does Oracle Lite implement these differently. What header files and library files am I missing?
I tried to do a search for the SQLAllocEnv function and the only files that contain this are:
    sqlapi.h
    odbc.h
    odbc.lib
    olod2040.lib
    olsql40.lib
I tried to include the olod2040.lib and olsql40.lib files but I after compiling, I got "illegal file object data'.
So what files am I missing in order to compile?
    Thanks.
