Oracle 8i Lite - Servlets? JSP?
Does Oracle 8i Lite support servlets? Does it support JSP?
Could someone tell me where I could find out more about how this
interaction works?
Thanks in advance!

Oracle 8i Lite do support Java Servlets and JSP. Web-to-go
server (part of Oracle 8i Lite) will load servlets and run it.
You can download Oracle 8i Lite and install Web-to-go server
to give a try.

Problems generating a JSP using J Developer 3.1 with Oracle 8i Lite
I am using Oracle 8i Lite release 4.0.0.2.0 with Jdeveloper 3.1 (build 681) on a NT Workstation 4 (build 1381: Service Pack 3).
In JDeveloper I have set up the connections using the JDBC driver to Oracle 8i Lite JDBC. The ODBC Source is set to POLITE. The Test connection returns SUCCESS!
I create a new project using the Business Components JSP Application Wizard. This allows me to successfully create the new Business Components required. In step 4 (of 6 ) of the Business Components JSP Application Wizard (Connection), no connections are available for selection via the dropdown and the Username, Driver and URL are all set to ?
I cannot create a new connection that I can use in this step either.
I have followed the set up as documented for Oracle 8i Lite.
I am sure that I am missing something simple.
Any ideas ?
Thanks,
Ketan.Use Jdeveloper 3.2

Deploying jar file in Oracle 9i lite SDK
Hi,
I have packaged my application into a jar file. How can I deploy it in my development environment. I want to use it with Oracle 9i Lite webtogo SDK.
Thanx,
JEJE
I am not sure why do you want to deploy in SDK after publishing and synchronising the same, if I understand your question correctly.
Let me tell you how we are doing.
1) create the jar files(application) using wtgpack.exe and publish it.
2) This jar may not contain the java business objects etc other than database objects, some files.
3) Synchronize the database. Get the Lite database(ODB file).
4) if you have any stored procedures(upload it now by running batch files or by any means)
5) Deploy your Java objects(Java beans,JSPs,servlets etc) in your app server(Tomcat or OC4J). Run the application as we do against Oracle enterprise.

Hi,
We have installed BI Publisher as part of OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1. Our J2EE Application Server is Apache Tomcat 5.5.2.7
After manually deploying the xmlpserver.war in Tomcat and doing the changes to xmlp-server-config.xml
When i am trying access the URL, its resulting into following Tomcat Error:

note The full stack trace of the root cause is available in the Apache Tomcat/5.5.27 logs.
Before doing the changes, when i tried to access via URL, it was showing up BI Publisher Login Screen.
Any idea whats wrong?
I have also copied the fonts to the JRE/lib/fonts folder.

Javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Cannot find FacesContext
Hello All,
I was trying to create a simple JSF page (Welcome.jspx )(please find code bellow) .But it is always giving the following error:
javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Cannot find FacesContext
The error appears though i am calling the page with the faces servlet (http://128.128.5.64:8989/GradeEntry/faces/Infrastructure/Welcome.jspx)!!
I have searched all possible forums on the Internet and tried their suggestions with no luck...My web.xml configuration contains the right Faces Servlet Mapping :
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/faces/*</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>
Bear in mind that i can run from the project pages that are generated from Oracle Jheadstart...But i just can't run this welcome page that i've created with JDeveloper.
Please find bellow the code for Welcome.jspx:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252'?>
<jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0"
xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces"
xmlns:afh="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/html"
xmlns:c="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core"
xmlns:fmt="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/fmt">

doctype-system="http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"

<jsp:directive.page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"/>

<body><h:form></h:form></body>
</html>
</f:view>
</jsp:root>
You help is very appreciated!!Hi,
actually this mapping only identifies those requests to be handled by teh JSF servlet. Its not a redirect.
I see several namespace definitions in your page, but no taglib reference. Wondering how this is supposed to work
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h"%>
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f"%>
<%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/html" prefix="afh"%>
<%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces" prefix="af"%>
I assume the next crash you will see is when you add JSF components to
<f:view>
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type"
content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"/>
<title>tt</title>
</head>
<body><h:form></h:form></body>
</html>
</f:view>
Note that mixing HTML elements with JSF is not a recommended approach
Frank -
Dear everyone,
I have built some customized JSF components. In the taglib, there is attribute "id" for my components. There is no problem when the page is run, but when I click submit button, there are errors.
javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: duplicate Id for a component form1:dojoComboBox1 at com.sun.faces.taglib.jsf_core.ViewTag.doAfterBody(ViewTag.java:191) at _andychun._jspService(_andychun.java:190) [andychun.jsp] at com.orionserver[Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g (10.1.3.1.1) ].http.OrionHttpJspPage.service(OrionHttpJspPage.java:59) at oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspPageTable.service(JspPageTable.java:462) at oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspServlet.internalService(JspServlet.java:598) at oracle.jsp.runtimev2.JspServlet.service(JspServlet.java:522)
Please kindly help solve this problem. Thank you.
Best Regards,
DavidAlex,
my guess is that because you copied content from the
first page to the next, you created JSF components
with the same ID. JSF components must have unique IDs
though.
FrankHello Frank,
Thanks for your reply. The thing is in the first page I do not have much id's specified/defined. And in the second page what I did was to take out all id's to see if it was conflicting. When I tried it again I still got the error. So the id's are being generated automatically if seems.
Also is it that JSF components should have unique id's for a particular page or all pages in the JSF application?
Any other sugguestions. I hope you understand what I am saying. If you have any questions or uncertainties fell free to ask me.
Thanks,
Alex. -
Hi,
In my ADF Application, new users are to be allowed to Register by clicking a button in login page. The Application is based on ADF Security Wizard and I have created default pages for Login and Error, so the application's login page is login.html.
Now when I’m trying to navigate to 'NewUserRegistrationPage.jspx' Im getting javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Cannot find FacesContext error.
I thought the issue might be from calling a .jspx from .html so I created a 'NewLogin.jspx' Page with below code and specified this page in ADF Security Wizard for Login Page.
Please advice me some way of calling the 'newRegistrationpage.jspx' from my login page.
Im using JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.

Edited by: Manasa Tadi on Jul 1, 2009 11:52 PMHi Branislav,
Thanks a lot for your suggestion through which now Im able to navigate to NewRegistration page from login.html.
In my application login.html is under public_html folder where as the NewRegistration page in public_html/WebPages.
Code I used:
New User Registration
But the issue now is, the NewUserRegistrationPage was also under the ADFSecurity, so inorder to navigate to it again the user had to provide authentication. So, I have removed this particular page from Security and it has started to work.
But the issue now I face is something else. In the NewUserRegistrationPage I have a selection to be made by user about the type of user he is and based on the selection he would be navigated to next page, This next page has a VO on it as a 'create form', through which he can directly fill the form and submit his details to database table.
But as I have removed these pages from ADF Security and authentication, the form fields/attributes in the VO are not getting binded, Im getting this Exception:
500 Internal Server Error
javax.faces.el.PropertyNotFoundException: Error testing property 'inputValue' in bean of type null
For testing purpose when I have provided link from application page to NewRegistrationPage the flow is working properly, able to navigate to second page and submit the filled form to database, I think this is working because we have entered the application after providing the login credentials.'
Help in this greatly needed.
Thanks,
Manasa. -

]Hi,
actually this mapping only identifies those requests to be handled by teh JSF servlet. Its not a redirect.
I see several namespace definitions in your page, but no taglib reference. Wondering how this is supposed to work
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h"%>
<%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f"%>
<%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/html" prefix="afh"%>
<%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces" prefix="af"%>
I assume the next crash you will see is when you add JSF components to
<f:view>
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type"
content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"/>
<title>tt</title>
</head>
<body><h:form></h:form></body>
</html>
</f:view>
Note that mixing HTML elements with JSF is not a recommended approach

Hi Friends,
I am using Oracle Application Server 10g (10.1.2.0.2) on windows
I have the Vulnerability: Apache Tomcat servlet/JSP container default files.
and the fix is Review the files and delete those that are not needed.
i would like to know the location of the files to review and delete.Please suggest?
Regards,
DBApache/Tomcat is not related to OAS, where did you get this info? OAS is based in a Orion Web Server and Apache HTTP Server, not Tomcat.
For this kind of problems there are the CPU you may want to check in Metalink for them.
Can you clarify also what default files?

i want to know wheter Oracle 9i lite supports taglib or not?.also i need all the informations about the jsp versions in oracle 9i lite

senthil.Hello,
I am not sure to understand your question.
Oracle Lite is a SQL Database , and you can access it from Oracle Application Server using the correct JDBC driver and then use the JSP Tag libs to access the data (JSTL SQL) or any JDBC API in J2EE.
If I am not answering your question please add more details about what you are trying to achieve...

Does Oracle 9i Lite supports Thai language?
We are developing mobile application[residing in a laptop] using java and Oracle 9i lite version [Release 5.0.2]. The application has English and Thai version. After we upload all the data[thai and english phrases] to Oracle lite from server [residing in Sun Solaris, Oracle 91] we were able to see the Thai characters in mobile, but for some phrases there is an extra English character amended to the phrase. We are not doing any char conversion here, just collecting the data from server and inserting to lite version DB.
Entries in polite.ini are,
[All Databases]
DatabaseID=501
DataDirectory=C:\oracle\ora90\Mobile\Sdk\OLDB40
NLS_LOCALE=ENGLISH
MessageFile=C:\oracle\ora90\Mobile\Sdk\BIN\OLITE40.MSB
DBCharEncoding=Native
When i ran through the release document for Oracle9i Lite Release 5.0.2, i can relalize that it is not supporting Thai language. Correct me if i am wrong.
Did any of the latest Lite version supports Thai language. How about 10g? Or any alternatives is there in Release 5.0.2 itself.
Thanks and looking forward for your reply.
