  • Can not log on as Sysadmin in Oracle E-Business Suite Home page (11.5.9) Li

I have successfully installed 11.5.9 in SUSE SLES8.
Here all what I have done after a successful installation of 11.5.9
    in Linux (SUSE SLES8) –
As per the installation note to download the jinitiator file I have to signon
to Oracle Applications E_business Suite Home page. In the Home page I have to specify useid and password. By mistake I have specified wrong useid/password probably for a number of times. Then I get the message you are no longer in the URL session.
Later on I logged on to "CRM HomePAGE" as user SYSADMIN and change the password. All work fine in "CRM HomePAGE" window.
But after that when I try to logon to “E_business Suite Home page” as SYSADMIN, (specifying new password)I am receiving following error –
“You have encountered an unexpected error. Please contact the System
    Administrator for assistance.
However when I click “here” I get no details or explanation about the error.
Please let me know how to unset the sigon option for user SYSADMIN under “E_business Suite Home page”, so that I can successfully log on to it (as sysadmin) and configure jinitiator.
Thanks in advance for your help and co-operations.
    Regards, Kunal

    Kunal,
You can use FNDCPASS utility to change the application users password.

My information security folk ask me to provide ip address & port number of http:\\updates.oracle.com.
The IP address of this site is 148.87.36.12.
What is the port no for this site?
Does any one resolve this issue?
    Regards,
    D

    Hello,
proxy settings can be different. Our proxy server allows an open access the to interner, in principle you can reach every external website, although it is not allowed to surf just for fun. It seems at your site the opposite is true, websites you want to reach must be allowed explicitly. Therefore your security staff needs the IP adress, obviously it must be known to the proxy server.
There could arise another issue, in fact we have this problem. As just mentioned, our proxy server isn't restricted to certain websites, but password protected. You need to login before you can go to the internet. This isn't yet supported by oracle, so for this very internet access we had to raise this restriction, but the proxy server itself is still used. Orace says, 10g Release 2 will support such a configuration.

  • Tips required to practice oracle dba tasks on home comp.

    hi Guys,
i want to practice oracle dba tasks at home. I am guy just graduated in MS. I want to practice oracle dba tasks on my personal comp. I have oracle on linux installed.
Can some tell me in detail as to what tasks i can do on my personal comp.
it will be great if anyone lists out the tasks in detail that i can do.
there are not a lot of companies who want to hire a junior dba. I guess i am of the view that I will practice what ever i can on personal comp.
detailed answer will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot in advance

It's tough to practice at home because you don't really have a dynamic database that changes or experiences abuse like a real one does. Probably the best things to do are to make sure you know the syntax of parameters and views. For example, when you use log_archive_dest do you need yo include the word "location" in your setting? Or is you need to kill a session, what view will you query and what information do you need from that view? IT's always good to know about non-Oracle things too, like how to construct a .cmd file in NT or a shell script in Unix. How do you set up an ODBC driver for a non-Oracle db connection? Make sure you know how to do exports and imports (easy once you've done them a few times but intimidating the first time). Know how to check your database only using DOS commands in NT. Learn vi or another Unix text editor. Have knowledge of how a three and four tier set up works.
When you're first hired as a Jr. DBA you'll probably be doing grunt work that the senior doesn't want - like writing scripts, checking the backups and exports each morning, doing installs, etc. Make sure you know where to look for these things, how to tell if an online backup is successful or if it is stuck in online backup mode. Know OFA compliant locations. Know what and where the OFA ORACLE_HOME is. Know where the tnsnames file is, how to troubleshoot it.
Keep a sense of humor and be humble. Keep an open mind and always keep the attaitude that you can learn something everyday from someone else.
    Hope this helps,
    EC

    Hello,
I followed the instructions to install Oracle 9i Developer on XP home to connect with a 9i database on a different drive, but i am still having problems trying to get Oracle 9i to work with Forms and Reports.
To begin with, i installed Oracle 9i on drive D(because its bigger than C on my PC) and i was able to connect using the SCOTT schema although i had some configuration tools fail.
I believe the main one was the Oracle Intelligent Agent. The error stated that he Oracle OraHome90 Agent service could not be started and now it pops up as an error everytime i try to log unto my PC.
I tried accessing the error message NETHELPMSG 3534 but couldn't even pull up the document.
I believe i logged on using the SCOTT schema and the remembered i was supposed to restart the system so i did that.
Then i installed Oracle 9i Developer on drive C and got a message saying some configuration tools had failed and i believe among them was the Oracle Intelligent Agent and the Oracle Database Configuration Assistant. I didn't set up the SMTP outgoing mail server and i believe i didn't set up the Oracle HTTP service either.
Anyway, when i try to connect Forms or Reports Builder to the 9i database, i get an error message
ORA-12560: TNS : protocol adapter error.
I would really appreciate it if you could offer me some assistance as i need to get Forms and Reports working ASAP. I have looked at the documentation for 9i Developer but its not really helping. Thank you for your time.

  • Can we install Oracle 10g on Vista Home Basic Edition

    Hi,
Please suggest me weather Oracle 10g is suitable in Window Vista Home Basic OS
or should I replace it with window XP

    Dear UG!
It depends on what you want to do with your Oracle database. If it's only for developing and testing purposes then you might use Windows XP or Windows Vista. I would personally suggest you to use Windows XP because you need a special version of Oracle 10g for Windows Vista but if you plan to deploy an Oracle application on MS Server 2008 with Vista clients then you should use Windows Vista.
I don't know if this is really helpful but I hope so.
    Yours sincerely

    2. If i can install both products on XP Home, how do i connect the 9i Developer Suite to the 9i database.
I tried logging in with the same default names of

  • INS-32008 Oracle base vs user home

    Hi,
Installing 11g R2 on Red Hat
    (uname -a
    Linux daniel3.wycliffe.org 2.6.32-279.9.1.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri Aug 31 09:04:24 EDT 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)
Under 10.2, (and 10.1 and 9.2 etc...) we made the oracle account's home directory to be /u01/app/oracle, which is also our standard Oracle Base.
But the 11.2 installer doesn't seem to like this. We get:
[INS-32008] Oracle base location cant be same as the user home home directory. Are you sure you want to continue?
This message can "apparently" be ignored and we have successfully installed several no frills 11.2 databases. But why this warning? What is the potential issue here that is troubling the installer? I really want us to be doing things as standard as possible.
    Thanks for any help here.
    Steve

    Hi,
OFA means Oracle Flexible Architecture and this is recommended oracle directory architecture for Oracle installation and storing files. After years of eperiences of customers of Oracle, Oracle corporation comes up with new recommendations to make product better and better.
In 11.g it is even not recommended to store oracle inventory under oracle base directory. So oracle inventory should be /u01/app/oraInventory and base directory should be /u01/app/oracle/
When you violate OFA, you receive a warning, but, still it will allow you to install anything any where on the file system.
Followig document may clear some of your doubts.
