Oracle 8i Unserval Installer doesn't run

I have oracle 8.1.6 CD enterprise edition and Mandrake Linux 7.2. I tried to run installation by execute runInstaller script but I got an error message says that I don't have Java Runtime Environment (JRE 1.1.8 or later) install on my linux machine. However, I did have JRE 1.3 installed. I kept getting the same error message. Does any know what's going on here? I appreciate your any suggesting.

Thanks Wallace for your reply.
I try to do exactly the way you say, but it does not work. I still get the same error message
The meessage I got is:
The Java RunTime Environment was not found at bin/jre. Hence, the oracle Universal Installer cannot be run. Please install JRE version 1.1.8 or higher and try again

  • Oracle Universal Installer doesn't run

    Hi,
I had Installed oracle 9i and Oracle 8i (firstly) on the same machine and the same drive, then I deinstall oracle9i using Oracle Universal Installer. Some months later I need to reinstall Oracle 9i but the Oracle Universal Installer doesn't run even on the Installation CD (CD_Drive:\Install\win32\setup.exe).
Can you please help me to fix that.
    Thanks,
    BOUBAKARY.

JVM's JIT of an old Oracle Installer version has a bug, so it crash in PIV based computers. A work around is to copy CD to hard disk and delete SYMCJIT.DLL file, and start installer again. I hope this helps.

  • BootCamp Installer doesn't run

Hi all, I have both a Summer 2007 MacBook Pro and an Al-iMac. When trying to install BootCamp with Windows Vista SP1 (x86) using the BC package in the Apple website (v.2.1), the installer doesn't run, just as if I haven't clicked the icon or something. It happens in both computers, and it doesn't run if I install the RC of Win7 either. It only works if I use the XP32 installer under WinXP SP3 in the iMac (in the MBP it doesn't run). I can't use the Leopard Service Disk of the iMac or the Retail copy because I lost both of them, and there's no BC in the Tiger Service Disks. Both macs use OSX 10.5.7.
Is there any way to make them run or I have to use a MSP unpacker (I have found many unpackers for the MSI format, but none compatible for MSP) to get all the drivers out of the installer? Can I install the drivers by installing the Apple Software Update and downloading the packages from there? I've tried that on Windows7 but apparently it doesn't recognize the OS's version and the BC doesn't show up.
PS: I'm not very good with English, so sorry if there's any error :P

    Hi Rorox,
the 2.0 drivers are only avaiable on the OSX Leopard DVDs.
IF you really have lost them (and not only misplaced them) you can call Apple and ask for a replacement.
Have the serial number of your Mac at hand and usually Apple will charge your with about USD 30 for the replacement.
Since the OSX DVD can also be sometimes vital for repairing errors of OSX you really should get a set.

  • Flash installer doesn't run - plz help

I download the Flash Installer and run it, and nothing happens. It is as if the program immeditately does an exit before it gets to the good part (installation!). I do not get the installation dialog, and I do not get an installation. I have tried running it as administrator, same result.
    Downloading from here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
the install file I get is: install_flashplayer11x64_mssd_aih.exe (or install_flashplayer11x64_mssd_aih.exe or install_flashplayer11x64ax_gtbp_chrd_aih.exe ... not sure why different attempts gave me a different file ... the last one was downloaded via MSIE, the others Mozilla FF)
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
Browser: Mozilla Firefox 11.0 (I did make one download attempt with MS Windows Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421 64 bit edition, same result)
I have uninstalled Flash. Actually, it seemed from the Flash debugging site that to begin with I already had the latest Flash, but Flash videos on YouTube etc were not working. So I started by trying installation (didn't work, installer didn't run), then uninstalled Flash, then tried installation again (same result). Now I have no Flash at all, and I can't install it. I have also rebooted several times and retried, no success. And I have run the installer with Firefox closed, no success.
I also just installed the Java update that Mozilla is insisting on for security reasons. That is my only guess for the initial cause of my problems, because my Flash was working yesterday (24 hours ago).

This worked for the immediate problem ... I was able to run the installer and get Flash on. THANKS!
I can confirm Flash is now reinstalled here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html. This also confirms that it is version 11.2.202.228 for Windows 7 (64-bit).
Now, unfortunately, I am right back were I started. I have Flash, but YouTube and the Daily Show tell me I need to have Flash installed and enable JavaScript in order to watch a video. Both are true, yet I cannot play a video (and I might add, the YouTube page just looks like crap, like something from the WWW of 1994).
I now have the same video playing symptoms on both Mozilla FF and MSIE.
Could it be them not me? This all worked 24 hours ago.

What should i do? I hope there is solution for it other than installing another linux flavor.

On SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11, the installation will pass the operating system prerequisite checks if you change each 10 or 11 to 9 in the /etc/SuSE-release file. Ensure that you replace the original values in the /etc/SuSE-release file after the Oracle installation is complete.

  • Universal Installer doesn't run

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to install Oracle 10g on Win2k SP4. My problem is when I run setup it opens console window and than disappears. Javaw is staying in memory. I have the same problem with Workbench on this PC. No errors in logs. Nothing. I have JRE 1.5.0_06 (I reinstalled it twice).

I have found the solution on SUN site. I have PCAnywhere 10.5 installed. This is the reason. It makes disappear Java GUI. THanks everyone.

    Rik,
Please reread my first post carefully & make sure you follow its instructions closely. The "Repair Disk" step (not the verify one) should be run while your Mac is started up from the install disk, then the "Repair Permissions" step should be run after you have restarted normally.
Some background info that may be helpful:
Disk Utility (& all such disk utilities) must temporarily "unmount" a disk to affect a repair of its file system (which is what the "Repair Disk" step does). Unmounting a disk makes it unavailable for normal use. The disk containing the operating system that is currently running the computer (the startup disk) cannot be unmounted. This is why the "Repair Disk" button is grayed out if you run Disk Utility with your startup disk as its target.
Repairing permissions does not require unmounting the disk but it does require a healthy file system, which is why the disk repair must precede it. Apple recommends repairing permissions on the start up disk while booted from it, which is why it should be done after restarting normally.
The verify steps do not actually repair anything. They just run the checks that the repair steps run to determine if any repairs are needed & report the results of those checks.
The routine that repairs permissions is part of the OS itself. Disk Utility, Onyx, & all other such utilities that repair permissions actually just tell the OS to perform this routine. Thus, it doesn't matter which one you use to do this repair, nor is one utility any better than another at doing this. So if you prefer, after restarting after doing the disk repair from the install disk you can do the permissions repair with Onyx.

I have Macromedia Fireworks 3.0 and the install process doesn´t run! After the installation the message is: fireworks cannot run. the resource files are missing or damaged. I use Windows 8.1. Antworten auf Deutsch wären super!

As far as I know there is no download resource for older Macromedia programs and it is highly unlikely that one as old as version 3 of Fireworks will be able to work on a Windows 8.1 system.  I was unable to get a Studio 8 version installation on a Vista system, and likely even an XP system (cannot remember that far back).

  • Oracle Forms doesn't run because it can't read a file

I can install Oracle Developer Suite 9i but Forms Developer doesn't run because it can't read file called "frmrow.res" or something like this. The other programs work just fine. This version of Developer Suite I have is from an original CD delivered to me by Oracle and it is translated into romanian language (i'm from Romania). Please help me. Thank you very much!

That file is the romanian resource file for the runtime - Romaninan may be available in patch 1 I can't remember but you can just copy forms90/fmrusw.res to forms90/frmrow.res in the meantime to make it work.

  • Oracle Universal Installer cannot be run... getting this error due to Java path. Pleath help.

    Hi Experts,
Trying to Deinstall the OBIEE 11g. OUI is not launching... after digging the issue find out that "Java RunTime Environment was not found".
But Java software is available at the specified path.
    "C:\DOCUME~1\user\LOCALS~1\Temp\OraInstall2013-09-05_01-10-08PM\jre\bin\javaw.exe"
Can you please help me on this... The complete error is...
    Oracle Universal Installer
The Java RunTime Environment was not found at C:\DOCUME~1\v859971\LOCALS~1\Temp\OraInstall2013-09-05_01-10-08PM\jre\bin\javaw.exe. Hence, the Oracle Universal Installer cannot be run.
Please visit http://www.javasoft.com and install JRE version 1.3.1 or higher and try again.

    Hi Srini,
I have tried as you mentioned like installing Java in C:\Java... and I have tried the by setting the JRE_LOCATION of local path. No use of it.
tried with -jreloc and setting the java path in environment variables too.
As I understand, the problem i have seen at files copied path is not expected as required. Please see the path below...
    C:\DOCUME~1\v859971\LOCALS~1\Temp\OraInstall2013-09-06_03-36-31PM\jre\bin\javaw.exe.
After running the Setup.exe -deinstall... temporary folder is creating with timestamp and all the required files are coping here...
"jre" folder also created and copied required java files directly into jre folder, but not in jre\bin folder.
    folder path is like this
    C:\DOCUME~1\v859971\LOCALS~1\Temp\OraInstall2013-09-06_03-36-31PM\jre\javaw.exe.
Setup application is expecting jre\bin\javaw.exe, but folder structure is created as jre\javaw.exe. There it is coming the issue.
I have even tried with copying all the files into bin folder and executed the setup.exe, it again creating a new temporary file
    not able to resolve it...

  • Problem Oracle 10g database Installation on Windows 2003 Server

    Hi All,
I am trying to face some problem to install oracle 10g database on windows 2003 server with service pack 2. I double-insured that there is enough disk-space and I am also in the Administrators-Group.
Please guide me for the above problem although I have done oracle 9i database installation with the same configuration.

  • Oracle 10g XE installation problem on Ubuntu Linux, Oracle will not start

    Hi,
After installing the pakages the error is when I call sqlplus and login as SYS :-
oracleXE: error while loading shared libraries: libaio.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
    ERROR:
    ORA-12547: TNS:lost contact
    What I have done:-
My system is 64 bit AMD.
I installed .deb package on Ubuntu 9.04 server. I installed the following packages.
    1.     ibc6-i386
    2.     libaio_0.3.104-1_i386.deb
    3.     bc
    4.     oracle-xe-universal_10.2.0.1-1.1_i386.deb.
The Oracle processes do not start after running /etc/init.d/oracle-xe start.
I can tnsping from the local machine.
dpkg -l |grep libaio gives the following:
ii libaio1 0.3.107-3ubuntu1 Linux kernel AIO access library - shared lib

I have been running XE on 9.04 (32bit on my laptop - 64bit on my workstation) and both works fine. I had no problem installing. I followed the directions in documents I found on Ubuntu forums and also google. The document I used to install on 64bit was from http://littlebrain.org
    I remember using
    dpkg -i --force-architecture libaio1_0.3.107-1ubuntu1_i386.deb
    dpkg -i --force-architecture libaio-dev_0.3.107-1ubuntu1_i386.deb
    dpkg -i --force-architecture libaio1-dbg_0.3.107-1ubuntu1_i386.deb
    dpkg -i --force-architecture oracle-xe_10.2.0.1-1.0_i386.deb
and then I used the ./oracle-xe configure as root, the installation was ok - and I have even updated the APEX version to 3.2.1 on the XE installation running on my 64bit Ubuntu 9.04
    hope this proves useful

Please help me with this problem.
    Thank you

It is because of UNIX shell. I also faced this error during installation.
First check your shell by the following command.
    $ echo $SHELL
    Then select the below.
    For csh shell
    $ setenv DISPLAY 192.168.1.128:0.0
    $ export DISPLAY
    For sh,ksh and bash
    $ DISPLAY=192.168.1.128:0.0
    $ export DISPLAY
After you do this check the value of DISPLAY variable.
    $ echo $DISPLAY
If the DISPLAY variable is set then run ./runInstaller.
One advice: Keep a complete log of your terminal session. This will help you in future :)

  • Have downloaded firefox update 3 times and it doesn't run

I have just started to use firefox on my pc which has windows 7. I keep getting a message saying I need to update the version of firefox, so I down load it and it says it is downloaded ( I now have it 3 times) but it doesn't run and still keepstellin me I need to upgrade it??? DO I just go back to internet explorer???

Your browser reported to the forum that you are running version 3.6.6. Can you verify that using the Help > About Firefox dialog?
Which file did you download: Firefox 3.6.27 or Firefox 10.0.2?
(If you need to re-download, you can choose from the files on these pages:<br>http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all for 10.0.2 or <br>http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older for 3.6.27)
Make sure to close Firefox before launching the installer for the newer version. Do you get any error messages when you start it? It might take a minute for the installer to check itself before you get a dialog.
