Oracle 9.0.1 Linux Intel Enterprise version images corrupt  on Downloads

The Oracle 9.0.1 Enterprise DataBase software for Linux Intel downloadable version on the Oracle Technology Network has 2 of the Disk images currently corrupt.
After downloading all the 3 Oracle 9.0.1 Database CD images for Linux Intel from the Oracle Technology network in binary mode, Disk1 and Disk2 images were found to be bad.
Disk 1 and Disk2 images could not be decompressed using gunzip or cpio. The following errors occur on linux
Disk1:
gunzip -df Linux9i_Disk1.cpio.gz
gunzip: Linux9i_Disk1.cpio.gz: unexpected end of file
Disk2:
gunzip -df Linux9i_Disk2.cpio.gz
gunzip: Linux9i_Disk2.cpio.gz: unexpected end of file
Cpio extraction is also suspect:
cpio -imdv < Linux9i_Disk2.cpio.gz
cpio: warning: skipped 40 bytes of junk
cpio: premature end of file
If the Oracle 901 Linux Intel Disk1 and Disk2 images
on OTN could be checked, it would help. I have put a
support request on Metalink, posted notes on the Database
general and Installation forums and the Technology Linux forum. But have got no feedback so far. Oracle Support
have recommended putting a note on this on OTN forums
as they have no means of vaildating the images on OTN.
Any feedback on these Oracle 901 Linux images will be appreciated.
Thanks
Mala

Yes. The filesizes of the Oracle 901 Intel images
on OTN match with what I downloaded in binary mode.
I found a reference in one of the DBMS forums on OTN
which suggested using the download tool from Getright.
Using the getright tool and the direct url link path
reference I downloaded the oracle 901 Linux images again
from OTN. This time I was able to run gunzip and
cpio -imdv successfully on all the 3 oracle 901 Linux
images without any issues.

  • Oracle 10g RAC on 2 VMware Windows 2003 images corrupts image

    It happened twice on each of the 2 VMware workstation 5 on which I am trying to set up an Oracle 10g R2 RAC. After installing CRS and rebooting machine I lost access to the Network Connections and the Disk Management. Basically I have to create a new image. Before I start a third time I would appreciate advice or feedback from other users.
    Also Configuration Assistants failed to install.
    Thanks

    Check out my articles at http://dbasupport.com on 10g R2 RAC Clusterware setup. I was able to do that on my vmware BUT I hope to have the very irritating ASM scenario done before my 4th Article.
    Check it out.

    The problem is Oracle usually don't provide direct Oracle Client download except for Windows. You need to download the Server installation file and install the client piece. The download files are rather large.
    and is there any other tool which i can install instead of oracle client?It depends on what you plan to do with Oracle client and why you need it.
    On alternative is instance client, it has direct download for all supported platform.

    What is the best installlation document to follow for the latest EM Grid control ?The latest Grid Control is available for download at http://download.oracle.com (Scroll down to "Enterprise Management"). There is a README beside the download link. THAT README PROVIDES INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS.
    In a nutshell, you install the lowest version (10.2.0.1 or 10.2.0.2, which ever is lower for your Grid Control platform), and then apply the 10.2.0.5 patch according to the readme. That should not normally take more than a day.

    Also, can GRID discover PeopleSoft and Siebel application software ?
    That can be found using the self-help portal: http://otn.oracle.com -> Products : Enterprise Management (left edge menu). In the 'Product Focus' area, you will notice 'Application Management' which will lead you to the appropriate data sheets and supporting information.

  • Can you install Oracle 10g on REDHAT LINUX ENTERPRISE WS?

    According to oracle documentation, it says you can install oracle10g on Redhat enterprise version 3 or 4, but it doesn't specify whether its Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS or WS. Can you install oracle 10g on Rehat Linux Enterprise WS?

    Oracle Certificaction Matrices says only RedHat AS/ES is supported for database. AFAIK WS means workstation.
    Also this link is very clear: http://kbase.redhat.com/faq/FAQ_61_1135.shtm
    Besides the above sentences... If the WS installation is providing all required packages (listed in installtion prerequisites) I belive that Oracle DB could be installed on WS but as I (and the above link) said it is not officialy supported.

    Why is your "requirement" to install in graphical mode?  Once you are past the installation itself, the only thing that buys you is that your server will have been configured to boot up to runlevel 5, running a graphical desktop (gnome or kde, I forget which).  And what does THAT buy you on a server?
    I do not run ANY of my Linux servers "in graphical mode" -- running a graphical desktop.  Nor did I run a graphical desktop when I had Solaris, AIX, or HP-UX servers.

  • Can I run 32 bit version of Oracle 10g grid  on Linux x86-64?

    Since Oracle did not release 64 bit version of Oracle 10g grid for Linux X86-64. Can I run 32 bit version of Oracle 10g grid on Linux x86-64? If so did anyone tried this? and also any known issues?

    All I had to do was use the 32bit version of "/usr/bin/gcc" and "/usr/bin/g++" to run the installation
    That is:
    bin]# cp -p /usr/bin/gcc /usr/bin/gcc_old
    bin]# mv /usr/bin/gcc /usr/bin/gcc323
    mv: overwrite `/usr/bin/gcc323'? y

    mv: overwrite `/usr/bin/g++323'? y
    bin]# ln -s /usr/bin/g++296 /usr/bin/g++
    AFTER INSTALLATION REMEMBER TO
    move back the 64bit files to their former state.

    Hi,
    I am using jboss 4.2, java5.0 and Fedora Linux Enterprise Version 4.0 with kernel 2.6 and NPTL 2.3.4
    I am using open source network chart generation API provided by geosoft ( http://geosoft.no/graphics/). This API generates chart into swing window.
    I wrote the code to change this swing window into web browser compatible jpeg image. I used thread to generate the image. It is working fine, for one user and no other processes running on the application.
    ISSUE:- When more than 5 users hit the application at the same time, some images get generated, some donot, there is no fixed trend to this image generation process.
    I analyzed CPU timing, it is using 100% CPU and after the images are generated / not generated, the CU usage goes down to zero.
    When I used the same code with Linux 9.0 (kernel 2.4, NPTL 0.6), rest remain the same, it is working perfectly fine with more than 10 users, with all images being generated within 30 secs
    Can somebody help me out to figure out whether it is a kernel issue / NPTL issue? Does it have something to do with thread processing?
    Code for network chart generation :-
    NetworkGenerator ntw=new NetworkGenerator();
    BufferedImage img;
    ntw.setVectRootNodes(vectRootNodes);
    ntw.setHashChildNodeNames(hashNodeData);
    ntw.setHashNodeRelation(hashNodeRelation);
    ntw.setHashNodesCreated(hashNodesCreated);
    ntw.setSupplyChainBean(supplyChainBean);
    Thread t=new Thread(ntw);
    t.setPriority(Thread.MAX_PRIORITY);
    t.start();
    try{
    t.join();
    catch(Exception e)
    DebugManager.doDebug(className.toString(),e);
    if(t!=null)
    System.out.println(t.getState().name());
    System.out.println(t.isAlive());

    style.setFont (new Font ("Arial", Font.BOLD, 10));
    scene.setStyle (style);
    int xPos=minY ;
    int yPos=0;
    int noofChild=vectRootNodes.size();

    double w2[] = {0.0,0.0,0.0};

    this.pack();
    Thanks in advance.

    How do I do that as I checked for it in utilities and is not there? Thanks in advance

  • Can a C++ client use Oracle Standard or Oracle Enterprise version?

    Can a C++ client use Oracle Standard or Oracle Enterprise version of Coherence or is the Grid edition required? Please keep in mind that I am only interested in doing what is legal from a licensing standpoint, even if some other options are technically possible.
    Regards,
    isailhobie

    Yes, a C++ (or .NET) client can access a Coherence Grid regardless of what edition is licensed. In our parlance, this is called a "Data Client". A Data Client provides you access to data and services on the grid, for example with put/get/query, etc. A "Real Time Client" requires a Grid Edition license. Real Time Clients allow real-time synchronization with the grid; this enables continuous query caches, near cache, etc.
    For a complete description of Coherence features by edition, including discussion of the three types of clients, please see http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14526_01/coh.350/e14510/appfeatures.htm#BABIGHCF

  • ORACLE 9i DS ON RED HAT ENTERPRISE LINUX  3 WS

    I made a download of oracle 9i DS on linux which was in an archive file(.cpio) after extracting with the cpio -idmv command i tried to run the runInstaller exec file but got the following error:
    'Error occured during initialization of VM, Unable to load native library /tmp/oraInstall2005-01-10_06-44-48PM/jre/lib/i386/libjava.so: Symbol__libc_wait, version GLIB C_2.0 not defined in file libc.so.t with link time reference'.
    Could it be that my downloaded file is corrupted or that i need to carry out some pre-installation procedures? I would appreciate any help or link to any document that could be needed to resolve the problem
    Thanks..

    try it on RHL7.3 will get smoothly installed
    or search for 10gIDS on RHL 9 in google along with pre and post installation tasks are given..
    apprenly it seems, it requires some libraries from RHL site.
    good luck..
