Oracle 9.0.1 on Tru64 5.1A

Hi,
I'd like to know if anybody have already installed Oracle 9i (9.0.1) on AlphaServer DS20e, operating system Tru64 5.1A. I tried to install, and when it is in the link process I'v got 2 errors when linking the "ins_rdbms.mk" file.
Does anybody know why this is happening? I read in the documentation that this database version works on Tru64 5.0A and 5.1, with the apropriate patches, but I think that it should work. I tried with and without the patch for this version and the same error has occured.
Thanks in advance,
Fabio Florencio

Can anybody help me? ;-)
Thanks,
Fabio Florencio

  • Oracle 8.1.7 Installation (tru64 Unix)

    Hello all,
I am having some problems installing Oracle on tru64 V5.1b. I have set up all the files with the right permissions and all, and i have edited the login file, but for some reason, whenever I try to install, it keeps giving me the error Ünable to setup inventory. You may not have proper permissions." Any ideas?
    Thanks

check out the available disk space for temp, oracle installer need 500MB of available disk space for temp, or delete OraInstaller directory on /temp

  • Install Oracle 8.1.7 on Tru64 UNIX 4.0F

    hello:
    I have installed oracle8.1.7 on Tru64 UNIX 4.0F.
After startup database and start listener,at first only one listener service could be found using command lsnrctl status looks like:
    Service "ORA8" has 1 instance(s).
    The command completed successfully
,but after while (2-3min) use the same command can find another result, looks like:
    Service "ORA8" has 1 instance(s).
    Service "ORA8" has 3 instance(s).
    The command completed successfully
Then client can not connect to database.
I can not find the reason.
    Can you?
    Thanks a lot!

during populating Connection Pool, weblogic server down with core dump

Try using the 8.1.7 Thin Driver (the 8.1.6 Thin driver is buggy).

  • Moving from 10gR2 Db on Unix (Tru64) to a new Linux server (10gR2)

    Hi,
We are planning on moving our oracle 10gR2 Db on Unix (Tru64) to a new Linux server (same database 10gR2). Interested in discussing the easiest way for a newbie to get the data over to the new box. We currently perform a 'COLD" backup and have no transaction logging. The database is a data warehouse so stopping the database and backing up the files is not a issue. The database size is 500GB.
The Oracle ADDM on our current box is showing "individual database segments responsible for significant user I/O". There is a tablespace with about 30 separate data files that need to be "reorganized"!
Should we perform the reorganize before the migration or after on the new faster box?
What is the easiest way to do this for a newbie? Thanks.

Since your source and target platform all little ENDIAN format. Cold copy from OS level is fastest and easiest way.
If you plan to reorg the tablespace along the way, you have to do export/import, use data pump since you are on 10g.

  • Oracle 10g support for TRU 64 4.0.f

    Hi,
I need some information on, Can Oracle 10g be installed on TRU64 unix version 4.0.f.
If it does not support directly, is there a patch available etc..
    Can somebody confirm.
    Thanks,
    Nagarajan Dandapani

    Hi,
Oracle 10gR1 is certified for Tru64 UNIX 5.1b.
Certification of Oracle 10gR2 for Tru64 UNIX 5.1b.is planned for 1st quarter 2006.
If it does not support directly, is there a patch available etc..No idea, perhaps can you create an iTAR to post the question.
But if you read the metalink note 283751.1 Pre-Install checks for 10gR1 RDBMS (10.1.x) - Tru64 Platforms, you can see that no workaround provide...

  • Client part of OCCI on Tru64 4.0F

    OCCI is part of Oracle9i.
I know that Oracle 9i is certified on Tru64 version 5.0a/5.1/5.1a. That is clear for the Oracle server itself.
But there is a "client" part of OCCI linked in the C++ application. Assume I have the Oracle9i server on some Solaris computer. Can I use the "client" part of OCCI in an application running on Tru64 version 4.0F?
(The other questions I found in the forum are about using OCCI to access an Oracle8 database. In my case, the database server will clearly be Oracle9i, but I want to use OCCI in client applications on Tru64 version 4.F).
    Thank you.

    Hi Anupama,
The components about SQL Server you mention above are not parts of Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5.1. There should be installations of SQL Server 2008 and 2012 before you install .NET Framework 4.5.1.
In addition, .NET Framework is a requirement for the SQL Server installation. For example, .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or later version is a requirement for SQL Server 2008 installation and .NET 4.0 or later version is a requirement for SQL Server 2012 installation.

  • Download Oracle 8.0

Is there anyway I can download Oracle 8.0? One of our customers use Oracle 8.0.6 on Tru64. If you or Oracle has Oracle 8.0 even on Windows, I'd like to obtain a copy.
    Thanks a lot!

    William,
You won't be able to get this from Oracle. Oracle only makes the latest, greatest versions available for download. Once a version is desupported, it isn't available for download.
You'll have to hope that some kind soul has the CDs and is willing to give them to you.

    Hi Ruben,
I'm an Ora admin working under NT.
Use oracle server manager to create datafiles & tablespaces.
You can find the executable file name for oracle server manager
(svrmgr??.exe for NT) under BIN irectory of ORACLE HOME.
Hope this will be tip for you.

  • OEM DBconsole

    Hi,
I have Oracle 9i DB on HP TRU64 Unix servers, DB setup was done by some group earlier whice left, I see lot of discrepancy in configurations.
2 server are clustered without Oracle RAC, Full export Backup is taken daily along with hot backup scheduled daily.
    1) How can I re-schedule the backups from full to incremental in Unix (I am Windows DBA), without distrubing the jobs scheduler.
    2) I want to install OEM DB Console so that I can perform my duties making OS transparent. But when I try to install using DBCA, I dont see the option to add SYSMAN schema, therefore I ended without making any changes to the instances.
On another server which do not have RAC DB, when I try to re-configure using DBCA, I get 2 options A) to create\manage RAC DB, B) to manages individual instance, here again the option to re-configure or manage existing instance is disabled. I can only create or delete instances. How is this happening in UNIX, I never had this problem in Windows.
What is manual way to perform this task, or best solution to this situation.
    Appreciate replies.
    Thanks,
    KN
Can anyone atleast guide on installing enterprise manager schema/repository manually.

    Hi,
Point 1)How can I re-schedule the backups from full to incremental in Unix (I am Windows DBA), without distrubing the jobs scheduler.
For this you have to change the entry in crontab . and you have to write a shell script for taking the backup.(Now for this take help from a experienced Unix Oracle dba.)
    2) I want to install OEM DB Console so that I can perform my duties making OS transparent. But when I try to install using DBCA, I don't see the option to add SYSMAN schema, therefore I ended without making any changes to the instances.
In 9i DBCONSOLE is not available but OMS is available . Now OMS configuration is again a advanced concept. So I suggest use Oracle Enterprise Manager (Standalone ).
This is very simple a) Install Oracle in a local Windows machine b) Open EM in standalone mode c) Add a new database to tree d) Connect to this added database using sysdba e) Now you can do almost all dba activity .
For this above you can refer oracle documentation for Oracle 9i EM.

  • Install Oracle 8.1.7 (TRU64 UNIX 5.1)

Need information on how to initate the istallation of Oracle
Software on TRU64 UNIX 5.1. Prior to 8.1.7, the "orainst" shell
for UNIX was used from the command line. The installation
instructions for 8.1.7 require the setting of the variable
DISPLAY, and the execution of the script "runInstaller". For
what I can tell, the new installation routine requires X-windows
to run, but I cannot figure out how to set it up.
Thank you in advance for any help on this subject.
    Eduardo Bedoya

    Dirk:
I had the same problem, which is caused by a
wrong version of Java. Follow the instructions
    in Denis Claric's Oracle page:
    http://staff.in2.hr/denis/oracle/
BUT do NOT install the RPM packages from the
RH7.1 CD-ROMs, get them from RedHat's web site instead.

  • Does Oracle 8.1.5 Run On Tru64 Unix 5.1

Does Oracle 8.1.7 Run On Tru64 Unix 5.1
We plan to upgrade the OS and Oracle in two steps.
    1. First weekend - upgrade the operating system from Tru64 4.0d to Tru64 5.1.
    2. Second weekend - upgrade Oracle from 8.1.5 to 8.1.7
    Questions:
    1. Will Oracle 8.1.5 run successfully on Tru64 5.1 during the one-week transition period?
    2. Does it make any difference if we upgrade the OS to Tru64 5.1a instead of 5.1?
    Thanks in advance,

A question along the same lines, does Oracle 7.3.4 run On Tru64 Unix 5.1?
We plan to upgrade the OS and Oracle in two steps.
    1. Firstly - upgrade the operating system from Tru64 4.0F to Tru64 5.1 (via 5.0A).
    2. Secondly - upgrade Oracle from 7.3.4 to 8.1.7 or perhaps 9.x
    Questions:
    1. Will Oracle 7.3.4 run successfully on Tru64 5.1 during the transition period?
    2. Does it make any difference if we upgrade the OS to Tru64 5.1A instead of 5.1?
    TIA

  • Oracle Performance problem in Tru64 Unix

    Hello All,
I am having performance problem in Tru6u Unix. Details are mentioned below :
    OS: Tru64 Unix
    Oracle Version : 8.1.7.4.0
    Forms : 6.0
    Mode: Oracle Parallel Server
When, developers are trying to save some data using forms, it's taking too much time.
Any hint/idea, how to start tracking the things, will be highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Rajeev Tomar

Check what are the session waits from v$session_wait and try to tune them.
If possible, get the code and tune the sqls.
Without knowing the application behaviour and other related stuff, no one can simple adice on performance problems.

  • Installing Oracle 734 on tru64

    Hi All
After a h/w issue ("the disk-controller blew taking out the os but maybe not the array" - whatever that means :-) ) , the o/s is being rebuilt, and I may soon be called upon to re-install Oracle 734 on tru64 (circa 1999).
My knowledge is Oracle9i on Solaris (argh!!)
    please help.
    Richard101

I am not pretending to write a full reference, the documents listed above are enough for a 7.3 administration. Oracle 9i/10g has a graphical environment. Back in 7.3 everything was CLI (command line interface). You have to manually create everything, database, listener.ora, tnsnames.ora, sqlnet.ora files.
It didn't have sqlplus as the administrative tool, it was jus a client you can use to connect regular users. The connect / as sysdba connection didn't exist, there in only was the svrmgrl CLI to perform administrative tasks, such as recover, create database, and all regular SYSDBA tasks.
There was no spfile, but the regular init.ora file. Just to name some meaningful first hand features.
