Oracle 9.2.0.1 Expert cannot collect statistics ( WindowsXP)

I have Oracle 9.2.0.1 and OEM with Diag and Tuning Pack WindowsXP SP1
When I try to collect statistics using Oracle Xpert I get
XP-21161: Database connection attempt has failed
ORA-28009: connection to sys should be as sysdba or sysoper
Cause: Expert was unable to establish the requested
database connection.
Action: Check the accompanying Oracle Server message for
a full description of the connection problem.
It is possible that the service specification
used in the connection attempt is not correct.
Expert accepts 3 types of service information:
o A database alias as defined in the
TNSNAMES.ORA file
o A Net8 descriptor block
o A network port specification using:
<host-name>:<database-port>:<database-sid>
I've tried messing with the Objects in left pane, changing username/password, making sure it says connect as sysdba with no luck, creating new DB object, connecting to a diff DB even. I know its connecting to the right DB cause it shows up in SYS.AUD$ as a logon attempt, but why wont it connect as sysdba?
Thank you I am a forum noob, this is my virgin(ia) post.

I also got the same problem but where i need to set thi parameter 07_DICTIONARY_ACCESSIBILITY=true.i tried in iit.ora but it was giving erro.Can u suggest me abt thi pls
Thanks

  • Cannot collect redo data on avdf 12

    Hi,
    I'm testing AVDF 12.1 but I cannot collect redo info from source database. This is my enviroment.
    Audit Vault machine: oracle Linux 5.8 x86_64
    Database source: oracle Linux 6.3 x86_64 with oracle database 11.2.0.2 EE
    I installed the agent.jar succesfully and I configured user on source database running the setup scripts in all modes (setup, redo_doll, spa and entitlement). I don't have audit vault installed on source database. I have registered a secure target and I can start audit trails for table type (sys.aud$ and fga.log) but I cannot start and audit trail for transaction log type. I recieved this message when I attempt to start it "System cannot start the collection for selected audit trails in <source_db>".
    Where can I look for more information about this error (some log file, trace, xml,...)?
    Or maybe, I'm leaving out some addittional configuration.
    Thanks.

    You probably need to alter one of the initialisation parameters. I had to change PARALLEL_MAX_SERVERS to 20 to get mine to work.
    You can find out the error you are getting by running the following command on the AV Server in SQL*Plus:
    SELECT ERROR_MESSAGE FROM AVSYS.AUDIT_TRAIL WHERE AUDIT_TRAIL_TYPE='TRANSACTION LOG' AND HOST_NAME='your.host.name';
    Hope that helps,

  • 1z0-054: Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning Expert

    I am planning to give the exam 1z0-054 to get the certification, "Oracle Database 11g Performance Tuning Expert".
    The Certification Path says that, if you are and "OCP DBA 11g" then you can directly take this paper, and there is no Instructor Led Training requirement. Therefore, I decide to prepare for it by my own. Can someone guide me about the study material and dumps?
    Regards,
    Ahmer Mansoor

    Therefore, I decide to prepare for it by my own. Can someone guide me about the study material and dumps?First of all, the word 'dumps' has a specific meaning. It is shorthand for 'brain dumps' which are illegal and can cost you this certification and any others you have taken.
    http://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/0477
    Second -- there currently is no study guide or book specific to this certification available at this time. I write study guides and this one is actually next on my list once I complete the current book for *1Z0-117: Oracle Database 11g Release 2: SQL Tuning*. I won't have a guide for 1Z0-054 until some time in May most likely. That said, I have some links to legal study material on the companion website for my guide series relevant to topics for this exam. It also has links to the Oracle documentation that contains information you need. Once I start writing the book for this exam, the links will expand rapidly as I research the topics for it and the documentation links may expand as well.

  • Ln: 0653-417 /oracle/SID/oraarch// is a directory. (cannot unlink)

    Hi,
    I have to restore a system for a DRP test.
    I first deleted the /usr/sap/SID, /sapmnt/SID and /oracle/SID directories.
    Before starting the restore I have to create a symbolic link of oraarch on saparch because the mount is on oraarch. I did it with the following command :
    ln -s /oracle/SID/saparch/ /oracle/SID/oraarch/
    after executing this line, it returns the error:
    ln: 0653-417 /oracle/SID/oraarch// is a directory. (cannot unlink)
    Many thanks for your help

    Yeah,
    it is always the other way round than you think with "ln -s".
    If you ever find a system with a link "b" pointing to "a"
    you might safely assume I had may hands on it once when I had once again
    no clue which way round the parameters work.  In this case I always execute
    ln -s a b
    just to re-ensure myself
    So if the filesystem mounted is .../oraarch, saparch needs o be non-existent when executing
    ln -s /oracle/SID/oraarch /oracle/SID/saparch
    see, just some twenty executions of "ln -s a b" and you are very sure to say which way round the parameters should be.

    Hello,
    If you would like to force the creation of that stats for table MSEG you need to use the -f (force) switch.
    If you leave out the -f switch the parameter from stats_change_threshold is taken like you said correctly:
    [http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/EN/02/0ae0c6395911d5992200508b6b8b11/content.htm|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/EN/02/0ae0c6395911d5992200508b6b8b11/content.htm]

    You have tried to do this in your second example :
    ==> brconnect -c -u system/system -f stats -t mseg u2013f collect -p 4
    Therefore you received:
    BR0154E Unexpected option value 'u2013f' found at position 8
    BR0154E Unexpected option value 'collect' found at position 9
    This is the correct statement, however the hyphen in front of the f switch is not correct.
    Try again with the following statement (-f in stead of u2013f) you will see that it will work:
    ==> brconnect -c -u system/system -f stats -t mseg -f collect -p 4
    I hope this can help you.
    Regards.

  • What should I collect statistics on?

    Hi All,
    I have a question, which can probably not have a short answer. But I want to derive a good strategy, which can be usefull in general. To start with, I do not think, for huge databases, we should just collect schema level stats.
    What all are the elements, on which we should generally collect statistics ??
    I can think of,
    1) Tables (includes Materialized views)
    2) Indexes
    3) Indexed columns (for histograms)
    In case of partitioned tables
    1) Partitions (at the granularity of partition)
    2) Sub-partition (at the granularity of partition)
    3) Partition key columns (???)
    Also, we can have global or local stats for partitioned tables.
    Can there be a thumb rule in case of OLTP and DSS systems?
    Am I asking a sensible question ?
    Regards

    Hi,
    Regarding my question. I am not comfertable with the idea of letting Oracle gather stats in a huge database. For example, my application is a 3 Tera Byte Oracle database, with most of the data in one schema.
    If I let Oracle do everything. Stats collection can be one of the big resource consuming jobs for us. So. if I want to manually do the stats collection, what objects should I concentrate on? Can there be a generic template plan for manual stats collection?
    That is my question.
    Please share your experiances.
    Thanks in advance.

    Upto Oracle 9i the rulebased optimizer was still used for Pool/Clustertables for reasons of plan stability (e.g. always take the index).
    To ensure that this is the case, these tables/indexes mustn't have CBO statistics.
    Therefore these tables are usually excluded from getting CBO statistics via an DBSTATC entry. You can modify this setting in transaction DB21.

    Well, these indexes have been setup just in the database and not (how it is supposed to be) via the SE11. As the indexes have a naming-scheme, that is not supported by the ABAP Dictionary, the easiest way to get away from the warnings is to check which columns are covered by the indexes, drop the indexes on DB level and recreate them via SE11.

  • How to collect STATISTICS for my jsp pages

    Hola gurus.
    I'd like to collect statistics for my website, for example on my main page and certain other pages. Ideally I'd like to code it myself rather than using an external tool.
    Has anybody done this, or can u recommend an approach ?
    Here's my thoughts so far:
    1. Since I dont want to slow down the presentation of my pages, the first idea is to position the code after the </HTML> tag.
    <HTML>
    </HTML>
    <% MyGreatApp.addStatisticForPageVisit(pageName); %>
    So, even if the action of updating the statistics takes 1 second, my web page won't be delayed by 1 second (right ? or should I multi-thread it ?)
    2. I can keep a memory cache of pages viewed versus session id's, so that my statistics can reflect distinct user sessions (instead of "page visits" which can be misleading if a user clicks 50 times on the one page).
    Maybe there is a neat java caching class that I can use.
    3. I can then "save" my cache of statistics to the db periodically (say, every 5 minutes) to reduce db load. (?) I'm using mysql for my app already.
    Any help / guidance greatly appreciated !
    Thanks for the help java community you r great.

    Sure, we do it. Every time the user requests one of a certain set of pages, we write a record to a table in a database. That's all. No mucking about with threads or caches or anything like that. If you have a database setup where it takes 1 second to write a record, you need to get that fixed right away.
    As for session ID versus user ID, it depends on what you need. We just log the user ID so we can see who is using what applications, but your requirements may differ. There's nothing preventing you from logging both. Also, I do not know whether session ID's are unique over a long period of time, but logging the date and time of access should help you to deal with that problem if it exists. Basically, don't put too much logic into your logging code, just throw records out at the database. Any filtering or selection should be done on the back-end system that analyzes the logs.

  • Oracle Database 11gR1 Enterprise Manager Console Cannot Display in Browser

    Folks,
    Hello. I am running Oracle Database 11gR1 with Operaing System Oracle Linux 5. I have some issues regarding EM connects with the Database Server as below:
    First, the default listener is LISTENER with standard port number 1521 and protocol TCP/IP.
    Its corresponding service naming S1 is with port 1521 and protocol TCP/IP and hostname localhost.localdomain.
    I run this listener in the following way:
    Step 1: [user@localhost bin]./lsnrctl start LISTENER (This command runs sucessfully.)
    Step 2: [user@localhost bin] ./sqlplus SYS/SYS as sysdba (This command starts sqlplus sucessfully.)
    Step 3: [user@localhost sqldeveloper] ./sqldeveloper.sh (This command invokes SQL Developer sucessfully.)
    But when start Enterprise Manager Console, it cannot connect with the Database. I do it in this way:
    [user@localhost bin] ./emctl start dbconsole
    The above command's output is:
    https://localhost.localdomain:1158/em/console/aboutApplication
    Starting Oracle Enterprise Manager 11g Database Control ... ...
    When open the link https://localhost.localdomain:1158/em/console/aboutApplication in browser, this message comes up:
    The connection to localhost.localdomain: 1158 cannot be established.
    Thus, I add Port Number 1158 into both LISTENER and Service Naming S1. I run ./emctl start dbconsole again and get this message:
    The connection to localhost.localdomain:1158 was interrupted while the page was loading.
    In order to solve the above issue, I create another listener LISTENER2 and another Service Naming S2 with Port Number 1158 and protocol TCP/IP because
    in my point of view, each listener only can have one Port Number(1521 or 1158) and its corresponding Service Naming (S1 or S2) need to have the same Port Number and Protocol (TCP/IP).
    But when I run [user@localhost bin]./lsnrctl start LISTENER2, this message comes up: the listener supports no service.
    From the message, it seems that LISTENER2 cannot work with its corresponding Service Naming S2 with Port 1158.
    EM with Port 1158 cannot display in Browser.
    My questions are :
    First, Is there any relationship needed to be established between listener(LISTENER2) and Service Naming(S2) in order to display EM in Browser ?
    Second, how do folks display EM in browser ?
    Thanks.

    Folks,
    Hello. Thanks a lot for replying. I do the following command: [user@localhost bin]$ wget http://localhost.localdomain:1158/em

    I unistalled everything and started over and eliminated Enterprise Manager from the list. Now it cancels at the Application Configuration step in Applying Oracle JRF Template with the same error. Cannot find path specified.
    Does anyone have any idea what path it could be looking for? I can't tell where else to look.

  • Cannot Collect BI Content DSO object for Installation to Version A

    Hi Gurus,
    I tried to simulate the installation of BI Content DSO object 0BBP_SCA. When I grouped by "In Data Flow Before" or "In Data Flow Before and Afterwards", I cannot transfer the selected object to the collected column. An error message says that Version A of DSO OBBP_SCA does not exists. But when I use "Only Necessary Objects" or "In Data Flow Afterwards", I am able to collect the objects. Why is this so?
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    julius

    Hi,
    Activate all the necessary objects and collect them in a single request and check for any inconsistencies or inactive objects in the requests before transporting it to the QA or PRD in SE03.
    Regards,
    rik

  • Hi experts - cannot run HTTPS on tomcat as a service application

    I have configured HTTPS on my tomcat 4.1 web server.
    Now, when I run Tomcat as a console application it works fine and there is no problem. But When I run Tomcat as a service application, the server starts as a service properly but when I try to access the pages it says that "The Page Cannot Be Displayed"
    The configuration for HTTPS in conf/server.xml file is like this:
    <Connector className="org.apache.coyote.tomcat4.CoyoteConnector"
                   port="443" minProcessors="5" maxProcessors="75"
                   enableLookups="true"
                acceptCount="100" debug="0" scheme="https" secure="true"
                   useURIValidationHack="false" disableUploadTimeout="true" >
          <Factory className="org.apache.coyote.tomcat4.CoyoteServerSocketFactory"
                   clientAuth="false" protocol="TLS" keystorefile="C:\Documents and Settings\deepak\"/>
        </Connector>M using tomcat 4.1
    Please experts help me with this.
