Oracle 9.2.0.4 install in Fedora problems

Hi!
Im trying to install Oracle 9.2.0.4 on Fedora Core 1 but I get the following error:
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /opt/tmp/OraInstall2004-09-10_06-39-32PM/libactionFile170.so: /opt/tmp/OraInstall2004-09-10_
06-39-32PM/libactionFile170.so: undefined symbol: stat
This is after selecting all options in runInstaller window, any ideas?
thanks!!!

I'm having the exact same error on Fedora Core 3. Setting tmp to 777 has no effect. It was already 777 with the sticky bit set.
The link to togaware doesn't even talk about Oracle 9.2, only about 8i and 10g.
Does anybody else have an idea?
Thanks,
Ron

    Not sure what to call the server - this works okay when I'm not using tunneling and using our proxy server??

    I think your problem is that you have a proxy user/password and the TCP Monitor (both the command line and built-in 9.0.3 version) do not support that - they only support specification of the proxy server itself :-(
    It is a feature request that I hope will make it into the late spring/early summer release of JDeveloper - I wrote it up as a request based on the number of folks who faced this issue with these tutorials.

    I got the installation working on OEL 6, but you have to take a sharp eye on the (other) requirements, especially the required packages and kernel parameters.
    Can you run "bc" on the command line? It seems not to be installed on your system. Try bc -v in a terminal. If you don't have it, install it with yum.
    Here's the relevant section of my */etc/sysctl.conf* (activated by sysctl -p afterwards):
    # Disable netfilter on bridges.
    #net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-ip6tables = 0
    #net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-iptables = 0
    #net.bridge.bridge-nf-call-arptables = 0
    kernel.sem = 250 32000 100 128
    kernel.shmmax = 536870912
    kernel.shmmni = 4096
    kernel.shmall = 2097152
    fs.file-max = 6815744
    net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 1024 65000
    kernel.shmmax = 4294967295
    net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 9000 65000If you have "disabled" the brigde parameters instead of uncommenting them, it might be the parameters are getting evaluated.
    Perhaps this helps.

  • Instalation on Fedora

    Hello everyone.
    I'm a beginner in oracle. For learning I've downloaded Fedora Linux. Which version of the database I have to download to work with Fedora? Does Oracle work with Fedora?

    Technically you are correct. RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) includes ES and AS, which are certified. And it includes WS which is not certified but includes the same core that is certified.
    And Ivan is correct that CentOS is a rebuild of RHEL with very minimal change.
    Of the 'free' variants, clones CentOS and White Box Linux have the following advantages:
    - completely in sync with Oracle-supplied install and admin documentation;
    - same 18 month active + 5 year patch life cycle as RHEL;
    - Oracle-supplied, tested and supported patches.
    The other variants have the following advantages:
    - install and admin variants supported by community, like Werner Puschitz and Ivan Kartik;
    - quick 6-9 month active cycle to get new features in + 1-3 year community support;
    - exciting, new capabilities at the OS and environment level to test and try out.

    Regedit HKLM->Software->Oracle.  See what's there...
    At the very least, that can give you paths and can check file versions from there.

  • How to determine which of the Oracle security products have been installed

    Hello!
    I would like to determine whether or not the Oracle security products have been installed for an Oracle database.
    The Oracle security products are:
    * Oracle Database Vault
    * Oracle Audit Vault
    * Oracle Configuration Management
    * Oracle Total Recall
    * Oracle Advanced Security
    * Oracle Data Masking
    * Oracle Label Security
    * Oracle Secure Backup
    * Oracle Database Firewall
    So what I thought is to look at the "DBA_REGISTRY" table which displays information about the components loaded into the database.
    But on the other hand there also is the "V$OPTION" view which lists database options and features.
    Does anybody know, how I could correctly determine whether or not each of the product is installed?
    I guess for "Oracle Database Vault" I should query V$OPTION, but what should I do with the other ones? And in case DBA_REGISTRY would be the right table, how would the comp_ids look like for the products?
    SELECT 'Oracle Database Vault' , nvl( (SELECT VALUE FROM V$OPTION WHERE PARAMETER = 'Oracle Database Vault'),'FALSE') FROM sys.dual
    OR
    SELECT 'Oracle Database Vault' , nvl2( (SELECT 'valueFound' FROM DBA_REGISTRY WHERE comp_id = '??????' AND status NOT IN ('INVALID', 'REMOVING' , 'REMOVED')),'TRUE','FALSE') FROM sys.dual
    Thanks in advance
    Kai

    Hi kai;
    There are some script avaliable on net, first please check them and run it on test server first!

  • Oracle Error on 7.5 Install

    I am trying to install ZAM Inventory 7.5 on a Windows 2003 server connecting to an Oracle 10G database. The install repeatedly errors out after encountering this error:

    I worked with our dba who has limited time and he said that it wasn't giving the user it creates, NCSystem, the proper rights to the db. At one point we ran the install and as soon as he saw the user created he gave it these rights but the installer ended up erroring out later in the process for reasons I couldn't determine. It seems to me something is fundamentally not right if it is failing on this and searching around I haven't been able to find anyone else getting the same problem. I get this error installing form different machines and I am convinced it is a problem with the db. Has anyone run into this error before or have an idea how to solve it? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hi.
    I have downloaded, unzipped this report as per R12 Oracle E-Business Suite Pre-install Patches Report [Video] (Doc ID 1448102.1)
    What then? The instructions say
    Unzip the file, extracting the entire contents, which creates the "EBS_12.1_Preinstall" folder. (The unzipped folder will use <1 MB of storage space.)
    Navigate to the EBS_12.1_Preinstall folder
    Open the file 'index.html' in a browser
    Do not rename any of the the files in the EBS_12.1_Preinstall folder. Such an action will break the report.
    But the "Index" is supposed to show what? At the moment all I see is a number of sections that have nothing in them (the other html pages, like AP etec, do provide information)

    Let me explain what I did: (O/s RHEL 5.4 & oracle 11g R2 grid)
    I have a partition in shared disk /dev/sdc1 (I have other partitions, but thought of using only one for OCR and voting disk). (did not define it as raw partition as I used to do in 10g RAC).
    While installing Oracle grid and when it prompted to enter the Diskgroup for OCR and Voting disk I gave a name DGDATA and choose only one (external redundancy) disk “/dev/sdc1″ (it does not ask for one for OCR and one for Voting as it used to do in 10g clusterware installation). As per my assumption both OCR and Voting disk were created within /dev/sdc1 (after installation when I queried I got the same info)
    The Oracle grid installation has gone through successfully. when I restart the system I find CRS not starting.
    The log says: “Error PROC:26: Error while accessing the physical storage ASM……..
    ORA-01034: oracle not available...
    Could not init OCR, code:26….
    Linux permission denied".
    For your information….ASM instance is up (check in both the nodes) and I find the diskgroup mounted.
    Can anyone help on this.
    Also let me know how to uninstall Oracle 11g Grid software and configuration. If I have to reinstall the Oracle 11g grid software and config once again is it possible without reinstalling RHEL. Let me know the steps or any link please. don't want to get into a mess again.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Pls hlp: Oracle 8.16/Forms 6i Install Problems

    I am currently running Oracle 8.16 on WIN2K w/o any problems. I want to install Forms and Reports 6i on same machine. Pls tell me how to correctly install Forms and Reports 6i and allow me to use current database in Oracle 8.16.. Thanks

    First of all, I wouldn't recommend it. We have many years of experience with Oracle versions 7 through 8i Release 2 and the various incantations of Developer from 2.1 through 6i and the simple fact is that if you try to run them on the same NT system, you will have nothing but headaches. In fact, I would not even run Forms Server and Reports Server on the same machine and definitely NOT either on an 8.1.6 server.
    That having been said, begin by reading the 8i Administrator's Guide for Release 2 (8.1.6) for Windows NT. Chapter 3 explains the Optimal Flexible Architecture (OFA, which is a solution to the problem you describe but which cannot easily be retrofit onto even the most current versions of Developer, which use older versions of Net8. This chapter should discourage you even more, but if it doesn't....
    Remember that you will need to create your 8.1.6 ORACLE_HOME, FIRST! Install your server there.
    Next, install your Forms and Reports Servers:
    1. You MUST create a separate ORACLE_HOME for each of these.
    2. Don't install these on the same machine as each other or 8.1.6 if you are going to use OEM to start them. In other words, install them as NT services.
    3. Ideally (and I mean STRONGLY recommended). Create two adminstrator-level accounts, one for each of Reports Server and Forms Server and do the install as someone in this account. Make sure that you have a default printer set up for the Oracle Reports Server account.
    4. Make sure that your DEFAULT ORACLE_HOME is the home of the Forms Server for the Forms Server operation (and the DEFAULT ORACLE_HOME for the REPORTS_SERVER is the Reports Server ORACLE_HOME). This is why you do not want to install these as Administrator. If you do, you'll run into loads of problems with networking.
    5. You will need to make note of your NT Registry AFTER the 8.1.6 install but BEFORE the Forms/Reports server install and AFTER the Forms/Reports server install. The registry entries for Oracle products changed with OFA so you will end up with a hybrid of the pre-OFA (Forms/Reports registry) and the OFA registry. Since software using the former will not look for keys created by the latter, make sure that you enter your configuration details (such as REPORTS60_REPORTS_SERVER) in the right branch or things won't work and you won't know why.
    Again, I would strongly recommend that you don't do this, but rather, you get a couple of dedicated machines to run the Forms and Reports Server.
    Also, if you are going to make either of these accessible via the Web, you will need to consider your WebDb (or alternative) setup as well.
    FYI, after trying NUMEROUS configurations with these, we now run 8.1.6, Forms Server and Reports Server on three different machines and run the Web CGI's for Forms and Reports on a fourth machine. That is what I would recommend that you do.

  • Oracle 11g stop working after installing Patch 1

    I'm new to Oracle. I installed Oracle 11g Database this weekend. The installation went well with no problems. However, after installing the base system I then installed Patch1. I had no problems installing the patch. I restarted my system and then started the EM. I received the following message from the EM:
    ORA-12505: TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach)
    What does this mean and how do I fix it?
    I then did an uninstall of Oracle 11g and then re-installed it. The problem went away. So I'm confidenced that the installation of Patch 1 caused the problem.
    Thanks for your help.
    Lou

    I'm very sorry of the over sight on my part. My environment is as follows: Dell PowerEdge 1900 with 16gb of memory, 2 physical Quad processors and 4tb of disk space. I have the installed Oracle 11g on Windows 2008 Datacenter.
    I am trying to upgrade as follows: Oracle Database 11g Release 11.1.0.6 to Oracle Database 11g Release 11.1.0.7. I will implement the Post Installation instruction to see what happens. It was an oversight on my part.
    Thanks
