Oracle 9.2.0.5 to 10.2.0.2 error in structure upgrade
On AIX 5.2 64bit with ECC 5.0 and Oracle 9.2.0.5
Going through guide and notes and have installed software and applied patches and intereim patches. When doing structure upgrade with dbua, I get an error:
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-04063: package body "SYS.DBMS_DATAPUMP" has errors
ORA-06508: PL/SQL: could not find program unit being called:
"SYS.DBMS_DATAPUMP"
any ideas?
Hi Michael,
I had DBUA problem when I was upgrading Oracle 9.2.0.5 to 10g, but problem got resolved when I upgraded the source to 9.2.0.7. This I was upgrading as SCM upgrade pre-requisite.
One more thing do not forget to increase temp tablespace size and other recommendations of upgrade check sql.
I am sure you will not face problem, if you adopt these things.
If you have still find difficulty, do mail me in [email protected] I have customise upgrade document.
Thanks & Regards
Praveen Verma.

Oracle RAC 11g on Windows 2008 64 bit - blue screen error on both nodes
Hi Everyone,
I installed Oracle RAC 11g on Windows 2008 64 bit, The installation was successfull and crs_state -t shows all services in two nodes are online.
When executed a select query with 100 sessions( For performance evaluation using Transaction generator ) ,the machine got crashed and blue screen is appeared on two nodes. I restrated the machines and and starts the same evaluation ,bt the same bug is repeating.
Can anyone suggest a solution to solve this issue? Is our hardware is not sufficient ? Shall we need to perform any
specific settings in Oracle RAC setup for performance evaluations?
Is our settings for load balancing is not enough? ( We added "Load Balancing= On" on tnsnames.ora on client for load
balancing)
The following machine configuration is used for Oracle RAC setup
Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz,
Ram :4GB.
OS : windows 2008 Server 64 Bit
Oracle RAC 11g , Clusterware 11g R2 , ASM with 5 raw disk ( 1- votting disk ,1- ocr files and 3 disk files)

Oracle application server 10.1.3.1.0 install - JAVA error
Hi Everyone,
I am trying to Install Oracle Application Server 10.1.3.1.0 on 32 bit Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.8 (Tikanga)
When running the Installer, I use the -ignoreSysPrereqs option because 10.1.3.1.0 is only supported with Linux Server 4, I believe. But I know people have installed it on Linux 5.7 and 5.8
anyways, Oracle application server gets installed and asks me to run root.sh. I run root.sh and then hit the OK button to proceed,
At this point, it tries to run the configuration assistant and fails right away with the following error:

"exp" with Oracle 11.1 client and 10.2 instance gives "MAXSIZE" error
My company has a lot of customers running lots of versions (and combinations of versions) of Oracle, so I like to come up with commands that will usually work for all of them. I recently installed Oracle 11.1.0.6 client on my PC, and this happened when connecting to a 10.2.0.3 database on an AIX machine:

Oracle 8.1.5 EE- interMedia 8.1.5 Compilations Errors
Greetings,
Im runnin` Oracle 8.1.5 EE, with interMedia 8.1.5 in a windowsNT|2000 Environment and my PATH and CLASSPATH are correctly setup... Running Jakarta Tomcat as the JSP/Servlet Engine as well as JDK 1.2
======= Do I need anything else ?? =======
During compilation I keep running into similar errors like the following (12 of them):
OrdSampleAlbumBean.java:0: The method oracle.jdbc2.Clob getClob(int) declared in class oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleResultSet cannot override the method of the same signature declared in interface java.sql.ResultSet. They must have the same return type.
import java.io.*;
^
OrdSampleAlbumBean.java:0: The method oracle.jdbc2.Clob getClob(java.lang.String) declared in class oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleResultSet cannot override the method of the same signature declared in interface java.sql.ResultSet. They must have the same return type.
import java.io.*;
^
OrdSampleAlbumBean.java:0: The method oracle.jdbc2.Ref getRef(int) declared in class oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleResultSet cannot override the method of the same signature declared in interface java.sql.ResultSet. They must have the same return type.
import java.io.*;
^
The errors seem to be steming from the imports which are:
import java.io.*;
import java.util.*;
import java.sql.*;
import javax.servlet.ServletException;
import oracle.sql.*;
import oracle.jdbc.driver.*;
import oracle.ord.im.OrdImage;
import oracle.ord.im.OrdHttpUploadFile;
Like I said, all the classes and libraries ARE in fact in my path and classpath variables. And interMedia is setup Correctly in Oracle according to imchk.sql
Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance.Hi Ramene,
Lets look at a couple of approaches.
The interMedia Web Agent is a web server plugin that supports the Oracle iAS, Apache, iPlanet, Microsoft IIS and Oracle OAS web/application servers on Solaris, NT and Linux (though not all web servers on all platforms, for obvious reasons!). It uses OCI to call PL/SQL procedures that return BLOBs which the Web Agent uses to upload and retrieve multimedia data. On the plus side, it is supported on Oracle 8.1.5. On the minus side, a Java application written using the interMedia Web Agent is not going to be as tightly integrated as an all-Java solution. I don't know if it would be of any use in your particular application environment, but you may also want to look at the interMedia Clipboard. It is a light-weight WinNT application that uses the Web Agent to upload and retrieve multimedia data in an Oracle 8i database. You can find examples of applications that use the Web Agent on OTN. Check out the "Dynamic Web applications using interMedia Web Agent" and "Load rich media content with a browser" links under the interMedia Sample Code tab on OTN.
Looking at an all-Java solution, with your Oracle 8.1.5 and JDK 1.2 configuration, I'm afraid you're always going to be stuck with the incompatiblites between the BLOB support in the Oracle 8.1.5 JDBC 1.1 driver implementation and the JDBC 1.2 interfaces. Again, please let me stress (to anyone reading this note) that this is not because of a problem of with the Oracle 8.1.5 JDBC 1.1 driver - it added support for BLOBs in a version of JDBC that didn't support BLOBs at all. The Oracle 8.1.6 release includes a JDBC 1.2 compliant driver that supports BLOBs according to the JDBC spec.
However, here's a thought, though I don't know if it would be officially supported (I'm not saying it wouldn't be, I just don't know if it is). Mind you, I don't believe the JDK 1.2/1.3 plus Oracle 8.1.5 EE configuration is officially support for that matter. I don't know if its possible for you to do this, but upgrade another system to Oracle 8.1.6. Then take the JDBC 1.2 driver (classes12.zip) and the SQLK/JPub runtime (runtime.zip) from the 8.1.6 installation and copy them somewhere on the 8.1.5 system. Include these files at the beginning of the CLASSPATH and use the 8.1.6 thin JDBC driver to connect to the 8.1.5 database. (The thick driver is unlikely to work as it requires an 8.1.6 version of OCI.) If this does work for you (it works on my systems), then at least you'll have something going, although it won't perform as well as the thick driver.
Re: "I need to support Oracle 8.0.5". I hope this was a typo and you don't really need to support 8.0.5. Of course, 8.0.5 does have BLOBs, but I'm not sure how robust the Java support for BLOBs was back then - that was quite a long time ago (at least it seems that way for someone working on 9i).
I guess the bottom line here is to upgrade to 8.1.6 as soon as possible to get full JDK 1.2 support. In the meantime, I Hope this helps,
Simon

Hi All -
I'm getting a similar error to the one below (posted byFabricio Soares) when the BAM updates service is working. We are using ALBPM 6.0.2 alongwith Oracle OID / LDAP (integrated using a custom FDI plugin).
Any idea what could cause this problem? I've verified the BAM configuration - and the database tables exist (though are empty...).
Thanks in advance -

I just got notified from several other engineers , here at the labs , that there’s an issue on the installer itself . The BUG report has been already filed .
In the meantime the only alternative is to install ALBPM Studio 6.02 from scratch , with the following considerations :
- Uninstall
- Make sure that the directory had been fully erased
- Reboot the machine
- Install ALBPM 6.02
- Apply the latest Hotfix -
Migrating from Oracle to SQL Server - data won't migrate but no errors
I'm attempting to migrate a database from an Oracle 11g (11.1.0.7.0 64-bit) database to a SQL Server 2008 R2 (10.50.4033.0). I'm using SSMA, and the Oracle tool was installed on the target SQL Server by the DBA. I've completed all the steps up
to and including synchronizing the database, and the empty tables all exist in SQL Server. When I run the step to migrate the data, I get:
Migrating data...
Analyzing metadata...
Preparing table POLICYS.LOGINS...
Preparing data migration package...
Starting data migration Engine
Starting data migration...
Data migration operation has finished.
0 table(s) successfully migrated.
0 table(s) partially migrated.
1 table(s) failed to migrate.
Then a summary box appears, and there is a red X next to the table (I'm trying to just convert 1 small table to begin with.) What immediately appears to be wrong is that the "To" table is blank.
I've attempted this multiple times, different tables (initially tried all tables) and tried both Server Side and Client Side migrations with the same result. There are no errors or warnings on the Error List.
I've found another online post where the user had the same issue, but in that instance they fixed it by changing the case of the table name. I tried that, but it didn't help. I'm not sure what is wrong that it won't migrate any data. Any help
is appreciated. TIA

HELP: Oracle VM Manager 3.1.1 VM Server Status Running (Error)
Hi All,
I have updated the latest patch of VM Manager 3.1.1. In my server pool, I have 3 VM servers.
All VM Server shows Status Running (Error). I don't care about the small red x icons displayed on the VM Manager but it stops all my operations:
1. Not able to Edit the virtual machine from one server.
OVMAPI_9013E Cannot perform operation on Virtual Machine: racnode1, no server available.

Your all questions are the same root cause is cause from your VM Servers are not available. If you want edit or remove virtual machine is need your VM Servers are available. If you want to remove Server Pool is need all VM Server are removed from it first and also cannot deleted VM Servers too.
What you have to do first is make all VM Servers up and available.
Option1. You can try to restart VM Serer agent (ovs-agent) and Oracle VM Manager service (ovmm) and try to log out and log in.
Option2. Restore Oracle VM from backup with option --UUID of previous VM Manager.
Thanks and regards,

Oracle database Adapter starts up even before the BPEL services & errors
Here is the scenario:
We have an Oracle database adapter in an ESB service polling a table & then invokes a BPEL service.
During startup, the database adapter is loaded first & polls data & immediately invokes the BPEL which is not even loaded still & errors.
Is there a way to avoid this.
Any help would be great.All three of your errors seem to be pointing to a configuration gap between
* the JNDI name used by the SOA composite to obtain a JCA connection in the soa-infra engine
* the ConnectionFactory configuration used by the DbAdapter process that then connects to the JDBC connection pool managed by the WebLogic server
* the actual JDBC connection from WebLogic to your database
You've indicated the JDBC connection layer from WebLogic to the database has been verified so the following things should be checked:
* access the WebLogic console of your domain and verify the DbAdapter application is deployed and active on the server hosting your soa-infa SOA engine
* click on the DbAdapter entry and go to the Configuration tab and the Outbound Connections sub-tab
* expand the tree under javax.resource.cci.ConnectionFactory and verify your JNDI name within the SOA composite is listed (it probably looks something like eis/db/yourdbname)
* click on that JDNI name and verify on the subsequent screen that the JDBC connection pool name is present under dataSourceName or xADataSourceName
* verify your SOA composite is using eis/db/yourdbname as the reference in its database service --- it CANNOT use the JDNI name of the JDBC connection pool managed by WebLogic cuz composites run inside the soa-infra engine which uses JCA connections to get out of the soa-infra engine to the rest of the world
Hope that helps -
Oracle stored procedure call failed,but not captured by the error handling
Hi All,
I have a unix shelll script which calls a stored proc in Oracle, the stored proc call failed due to "ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress".
But it is not captured in the error handling block, Any ideas why this had happened?
SQL file had : my_test_sql.sql
exec my_proc(..............);
Unix shell script has this call:
sqlplus -s my_user/my_pwd@db1 @my_test_sql.sql
if [[ $? -ne 0 ]]; then
echo "failed"
exit 1
else
echo "success"
fi
If i execute the above shell, I'm getting the following
ERROR:
ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress
SP2-0306: Invalid option.
Usage: CONNÝECT¨ Ýlogon¨ ÝAS SYSDBA¨
where <logon> ::= <username>Ý/<password>¨Ý@<connect_identifier>¨ | /
success.
This puzzled me, any pointers?The $? status variable shows the return code of the last command executed. It will be difficult to determine what the exit status of your sql script is without knowing the script. Do you have any "WHENEVER SQLERROR EXIT" statements in the script?
The ORA-01033 error happens when the database is not open, perhaps in recovery, or startup or shutdown is halted due to a failed or full disk, error in archiving or writing to redo, etc. -
Oracle 10g EE Export Results in ORA-01001: invalid cursor Error
Hi,
I'm quite new to Oracle 10g and OCS10g. We have a crippled/corrupt SYSAUX tablespace (data file 3) which cannot be recovered using recover
command anymore. So metalink support instructed us to do a export of the metadata of the working tablespace which contains our system data (we are in configuration stage for OCS 10g 10.1.2) via transportable tablespaces so that I can just recreate the database in DBCA and import the metadata. So after I made a cold backup, set the "transportable" tablespaces to "READ ONLY" mode, I proceeded w/ the export command which resulted in an error, please see below:
$exp \'sys/********@ocs10gSID as sysdba\' parfile=transport.par
Connected to: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.1.0.4.2 -
Production
With the Partitioning, Real Application Clusters, OLAP and Data Mining options
Export done in US7ASCII character set and AL16UTF16 NCHAR character set
server uses AL32UTF8 character set (possible charset conversion)
Note: table data (rows) will not be exported
About to export transportable tablespace metadata...

Anyone encountered this problem before? Any recommendations or tips to get this working?
I checked this url:"http://luhartma.blogspot.com/2006/05/how-to-check-if-tablespace-is.html"
And when I try to follow the instructions and check on of the tablespace I set to and verified to be in "READ ONLY" mode, I get the same error.
SQL> connect / as sysdba
Connected.
SQL> exec dbms_tts.TRANSPORT_SET_CHECK('PORTAL',TRUE)
BEGIN dbms_tts.TRANSPORT_SET_CHECK('PORTAL',TRUE); END;

Hope someone can help on this or at least provide a suggestion. Data file 3 above is the reason we are doing a transportable tablespace export & db recreation.
BTW what we have is:
OCS 10g 10.1.2 w/ Oracle RDBMS 10g Enterprise Edition 10.1.0.4.2
RHEL4 Update2
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
-KenthHi,
The status is "RECOVER" we have actually tried to recover but unfortunately the archive logs that were needed were on disks and were lost during one of the server hardware failures. Actually that is the reason why metalink support recommended this route for getting everything in order since we don't have any application data in SYSAUX yet.
Thanks.
