Oracle 9.2.1 on Win95 PC

Does anybody know how to make this work?
I only need the ODBC-driver, but the cmoputer has 32 MB of RAM, and a 300 MB harddrive.
I was suggested to try to install the 8.1.7 client, but this crashed near the end of the installation...Anyone??

The 9.2 Oracle client was never certified on Windows 95.
Even if you are using a previously certified client (Oracle no longer supports Windows 95), I doubt that 32 Mb is sufficient to install the Oracle client. A runtime Oracle client installation will also take a couple hundred MB of disk space, which may be more than you have available.

  • Oracle 8i & Developer 6i on Win95

I have installed 8i lite in & developer 6i in two different oracle homes. I am able to login through SQL but not through forms. Can anyone help me out or suggest a way out to come out succesully installed?
    Thanks,
    Muthaiah

Yes, you can run Forms and Reports 6i applications on the web. Go to http://otn.oracle.com and navigate to the Forms area. You will find whitepapers there. You can also click on the Documentation link on the left. By default, it shows the doc for Oracle9i Forms, but there's a link at the top for the Forms 6i demo.
You should also consider attending some training.

  • Oracle Error ORA-03121

I installed Personal Oracle 8i, and Oracle Forms.
When I try to connect to a SQL*Server database using a DSN, I get the following:
ORA-03121 no interface driver connected - function not performed.
    Do I need OCA installed?
Can I download this from somewhere (doesn't seem to be avialble from oracle.com)?

You most certainly can connect to a personel oracle database
using sqlnet. If fact you can connect to an oracle database
running on a win95 platform from another pc running on a
network. All you need to do is insure that the database listener
is running on the platform where the personel oracle is
    installed.

  • Personal Oracle and Oracle Lite ??

I'd like to know the difference between Personal Oracle (PO)

    Hi,
    Hereby are some answers:
1 : PO is personal version of Oracle RDBMS, and available under
Win95/98/NT. It is the same kernel than a normal Oracle RDBMS
without some advanced feature (object, etc). Lite is another
kernel and originally is a ODBMS (object DBMS). Lite is available
under Win95/98/NT/CE, Epoc32 (coming) and Palm OS (coming). Both
products are actually single user products. There will be a lite
mini-server which will support mutli-user access.
2 - Yes, PO is a full Oracle RDBMS and Lite is a foot-print
database. But both database are mutil-sessions, row-level locking
    etc.
3 - PO supports PL/SQL and Lite support Java Stored procedures.
    Both have database triggers.
4 - For the replication feature, both PO and Lite fully support
basic and advanced replciation. That means: readonly snapshot and
updatable snapshots with subquery and subsettings. They can only
play as snapshot sites. The master site must be Oracle 8 or 8i.
    Hope these can help,

  • Just one character problem.

    Hi everybody,
I am using oracle database 10gR2 and I have approximately 2000 tables some field in English and the others in Arabic.
The character which I have problem with is called {لا}.
This character is appeared as question mark (?) instead.
I don't want to make an update statement because of there are thousands of Arabic fields contains this problem.
If I want to do an update statement to solve this problem, so I have to write thousands of update statements on each Arabic field has this problem , this is really exhausted.
Do anyone has an idea how to fix them all at once?
I am really Sorry, I sent this message more than one time by mistake.

  • Connecting Win95 - Oracle/Linux Server

    Hi,
I recently purchased a 5 client license for Oracle Linux. I
installed the server on my Redhat 5.2 machine and the
    Net8/SqlPlus client on my win95 box. I have a billing system I'm
trying to install (PRISM, www.isppower.com) with the client on
the win95 and the database on Linux. I can run Net8Assistant
and create a name (PRISM) for the server. I can connect to the
name using SQLPLUS. I created a new user, tablespace, tables and
data using the scripts that come with the billing system. All
this worked using SQLPLUS on the win95 box connecting to the
linux server. Now, when I try to run the billing application
which uses ODBC I get an error that Oracle cannot find the name
server. This is coming from the ODBC driver.
Using NetAssistant I can't find any Oracle Name servers. The
only thing I'm running on the linux box is the database (dbstart)

    Hi Matthew...
The problem is your ODBC- Call, for sure. Are there some more
    informations ? 16bit ? 32 bit ? Which type of net ? Is your
odbc-driver capable for Net8 ? Will you give an description of
    your dsn ?
Some suggestions...if your odbc-call is not Net8 capable, try the
    following in your registry:
    hkey_local_machine -> software -> oracle
    add TNS_ADMIN
    value C:\ORAWIN95\NET80\ADMIN
which references the path for your tnsnames.ora file
    Hope it works
    Regards

    Hi,
since your posting is a couple of weeks old I don't know if you already managed to get the disk working.
You might want to consider one of the following options to get it working as the problem is seen when the disk drive draws more power as the USB port can deliver.
    1)  use USB EXTENSION Y CABLE
    2)  use external USB hub with power supply
    3)  use USB disk with external power supply
For more details you might want to review
(Doc ID 1572327.1)  Solaris might be Unable to Mount certain USB Disks because of Overcurrent on USB Port

  • Installation of developer 6.0 on win95 with personal oracle 8

    Can any one help me?
I have problem in installing developer 6.0 on win 95.
It is giving Ggeneral protection error
with message that msvcrt.dll file is having page fault.

I tried your advice, unfortunately it still does not work. Curiously, I get the error "Unable to connect to destination" not "Cannot resolve name".
It seems as if it can read tnsnames.ora, but cannot connect to the database??? One thing that is unusual (i think) is that when I installed Developer 6.0 from the CD,
the Net8 Configuration assistant was never launched. I've heard from several people that
it should be launched after installlation. I'm working with a CD-ROM from a textbook titled
"Oracle Developer Starter Kit" which claims to be the complete Oracle Developer-Developer Server Release 6.0 product!
Does anybody know if the installion of Developer 6i includes configuration by Net8 assistant???
Still trying> Thanks for your help.

  • Oracle 8i Lite program fails with JDev 3.1.1.2, on Win95

    "C:\Program Files\Oracle\JDeveloper 3.1.1.2\java1.2\jre\bin\javaw.exe" -mx50m -
I'am having problems running my program with the latest JDeveloper 3.1.1.2. It worked fine with JDeveloper 3.1. I get an unsatisfiedLinkError which indicates that it can't find the native dll libraries. But I did everything written in the instructions. Patched the jdeveloper.ini file and add the path as a parameter to the project.
    See for results below.
    Hopefully anyone can help.

Do not install the PATCH for Oracle 8i Lite on Windows 95, because it's really meant for NT. The PATCH caused the problem.

  • Exception in thread "main" java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.jdbc.dr

    Hi
I am trying to use type 4 driver to connect to my Oracle 9i Rel2 database. I downloaded the odbc14.jar from oracle and added in the C:\Oracle9i\jdbc\lib path. As on the website, I setup my environment:
    Setting Up Your Environment
    On Win95/Win98/NT:
    - Add [ORACLE_HOME]\jdbc\lib\classes111.zip and
    [ORACLE_HOME]\jdbc\lib\nls_charset11.zip to your CLASSPATH.
(Add classes12.zip and nls_charset12.zip if JDK 1.2.x or 1.3 is
used. Add ojdbc14.jar and nls_charset12.zip if JDK 1.4 is used.)
    - Make sure [ORACLE_HOME]\bin is in your PATH.
