  • Oracle 9i Objects with Forms6i

I am using Oracle 9i server and dev 6i (forms6i).
i have a form based on Object tables (including REF's items). when i try to insert update, delete the reocrd in the form, it gives error.
Insert/Update/Delete failed because of OCI_22132: hexadecimal string does not corresopond to a valid REF.
when i remove REFs items from form (not from database) then it does all functions (insert, update, delete, query).
Actually i haved used this form with Oracle 8i and it did all functions(insert, update, delete, query). i am using the same tables and types definations in Oracle 9i but it is not working.
Note: Insert, Update, Delete, or Query is not being done through forms when using REFs items. Others tools like sql*plus are performing the same actions very well.
    Please help.
I will be thankful to you.

  • Accessing Oracle advanced queuing from forms6i

I have a 3-tiered architecture where my forms run on a different server from the rest of my applications. I have a
UNIX process that produces warnings for specified users who are accessing forms6i on their PC's. The process
enqueues these warnings to an Oracle queue. I need a way for the form to dequeue this information. Is there a way for
the form to run a Java process in the background so that the form would surrender screen control to the warning process
when warranted? ................Can the dequeue logic be coded into a forms procedure or a stored procedure in the
database and accessed directly from the form and run in the background?..........In general, can forms run processes
in the background?................Can anyone point me toward some documentation that can help me?.....................
Any help with any or all of the above would be greatly appreciated.

    John,
there is no direct support for AQ in Forms. Check out this document, which is stil valid. Note the set_custom_item_property in 6i is named set_custom_property!

  • Oracle Terminal Executable for forms6

I feel like a total idiot. All the docs I've read say the oracle terminal executable is OT21.exe but that may not be the case for forms 6. I cannot find any executable to launch oracle terminal. On what disc is it located? What is the name of the executable?
    BTW I'm using developer6 on a Win98 platform.
    Thanks in advance! :^)

  • Oracle 8.1.7...Apache up...IIS5 disappeared

    Hi,
Sorry, do not know where to post this question.....
    Problem:
    Great !!!.
Oracle 8.1.7 / Forms / Designer installed but MS IIS5 is gone / overwritten due to installation of Apache 1.3 ?!?!
    Basics:
W2K (development) machine basic configuration: SP1 and IIS 5. Machine is / has been used for testing ASP pages (Jscript, MSSQL7).
    Challenge:
    Installing Oracle 8.1.7 + forms6i R1 (+ patch 1) + Designer 6i R2 on this W2K machine (standalone configuration).
Particularly focussed on the installation of Designer 6i.
    Results:
Everything concerning Oracle seems to work fine....Forms + Reports OK ! (?)
No error messages in the (Designer Repository) log files.
Could import the Designer Tutorial dmp-file (However had to copy the ICON file to the BIN directory).
    No problems encountered sofar.
General question: At what moment in time I'm sure that Designer and / or FormsReports is running smoothly ??.
    Disappointment :-):
Tried to run my ASP applications by http://localhost/.....(IIS 5)
However...the Appache webserver showed up in stead of IIS 5.
I do not blame Oracle..installing 8.1.7. on a development machine is rather straightforward..(Wizard driven).
I just did not pay enough attention to read the installation manual in detail (I'm not a DBA'r)....Was not aware of Apache 1.3
    Questions:
    1. Is it possible to shutdown Apache and 'activate' IIS5 in case of ASP pages (if not...Oracle requires a dedicated server / machine, even in development environments);
    2. The installation manual for Apache is focused on Linux / Unix. I could not find a proper installation guide for NT. Do I have something in my eyes ???
    Thanks for the responce,
    Regards

    Hi,
Both apache and IIS run as a Windows "service". They listen on a particular port on your PC for incoming requests. The default port for http is 80. It's likely that since both apache and IIS want to use the same port, one of the services (from the sound of it, IIS) is now disabled or failed to start.
To remedy this, in Windows 2000, you need to run Start->Administrative Tools->Services. The Microsoft Management Console will appear with a list of all services installed on your machine, and their current state. You should find Apache and disable it and reenable IIS.
If you want a more permanent solution, you might like to modify the IIS or apache configuration files to have them listen on different ports. This way, they won't interfere with each other, and you will be able to connect to either web server.
See http://www.apache.org for lots of documentation on the apache server. Most of it is platform generic.

  • Call report from forms6i, use report server from 10gAS

    Hi there,
I have been searching for any info I can get that will help me to do the following:
I want to call an Oracle 6i report from Forms6i but I want to specify a Report Server running on an Oracle10gAS box. Can this be done in a client/server fashion, meaning the forms/reports are on a Citrix box, accessed by many users.
Everything is working fine, using "RUN_PRODUCT" and the "Report Background Engine" to generate the report on the Citrix box. However, I want to use the report server from 10gAS runinng on another box, to generate these reports.
Please reply with any help you give.
    Regards
    shak

    Hello,
You can use the compatible element in the reports server configuration file :
    Description
The compatible element is available for backward compatibility with Oracle Reports 6i clients (RWCLI60.EXE, RWCGI60.EXE, RWQMU60.EXE, RWRQM60.EXE, RWRQV60.EXE, 6i Forms). When compatible is set to 6i, Reports Server will make use of an executable file named rwproxy that listens for requests from a 6i client and forwards them to a 10g server.

  • Bilingual support for forms6i and Reports6i

    Hi
We are planning to use Oracle Developer 6i with forms6i and reports6i for a Client server solution and deploy only the runtime on Sun Solaris
Question: The users need multi-language support for the form labels and report headings etc..
However, the data in the database will be stored only in English and will be displayed only in English.
Please let me know if this is possible in Oracle Reports 6i and Forms6i (and how do we implement this)
    Thanks
    G.

    null null ;-),
Yes you can do this. The way you do this is to use Oracle Translation Builder to translate the contained strings in Reports and Forms. After translation, export the strings back into the Forms and reports modules.
In Reports you use the rdf format to store multiple language strings and in Forms it's fmb. To get language specific application modules you need to compile the files with the NLS_LANG variable set to the traget language.
You can compile Forms applications using the Forms Developer interface or the ifcomp60 compiler. Similar for Reports, except that the compiler name is rwconverter. After this all you need to do is to start the applications in the language environment (NLS_LANG) set to target language. On the Web this is the default.env file in Forms, or the registry (or Unix environment) of the Reports Server. In client-server NLS is defined in the registry on Windows or in the environment on Unix.
    Hope this helps.

  • Report in Forms9i

In forms 6/6i I can launch a report in HTML mode working in web mode and I wanted to lauch it in PDF, that PDF file was stored in the server. Can I launch a report in PDF mode in Forms9i to print it from the browser?

    Hi,
the only caveat with using web.show_document is that you have to expose teh userid in the URL. if you go this approach, make sure that you implement the following solution
    For Forms9i/10g:
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/forms/pdf/10g/frmwebshowdoc_rep.pdf
    http://otn.oracle.com/products/forms/pdf/10g/frmwebshowdoc_rep.zip

  • Installing Developer Suite 10g R2 on Windows Vista failed !!

It seems Oracle has a new challenge of producing a new edition of Developer Suite that will install on Windows newest falvour, Vista. I installed Oracle db 11g on my Vista O.S. and everything runs normally. But my Developer Suite 10g R2 failed to launch setup.exe, giving me the following error:
    Checking installer requirements...
Checking operating system version: must be 5.0, 5.1 or 5.2. Actual 6.0

Exiting Oracle Universal Installer, log for this session can be found at C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory\logs\installActions2007-11-16_06-40-54PM.log
    Please press Enter to exit...
Any idea to solve the problem? Or it's all that I have to wait Oracle for an 11g Developer Suite version that is supported by Vista??!
    Thanks!

Either your tnsnames.ora file that Forms is using is not set up properly to connect to your database, or else you need to install the Microsoft Loopback Adapter.
I have set up laptops with a Loopback Adapter, so Forms will connect regardless of the Windows computer name. If the computer name is included in the tnsnames entry for your on-board database, then you probably don't need it.
When you installed the 11g database, the installation set up a tnsnames.ora file with an entry for that database. First, try copying the entry into the corresponding tnsnames.ora file used by Forms.
In my system, I have four distinct tnsnames.ora files, each one is a duplicate of the others. Whenever I need to change an entry, I do it in one of them, then do a Save As three times to replace the other three. I use these comment lines at the top of the file to help me:
#--  For reference, save as: C:\oracle\tnsnames___ref.ora
    #--  For Forms6i,   save as: C:\oracle\orant\NET80\admin\tnsnames.ora
    #--  For Forms10,   save as: C:\oracle\DevSuiteHome_1\network\admin\tnsnames.ora
#--  For SQL Plus10,save as: C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\network\admin\tnsnames.oraWithin the laptop running withOUT the loopback adapter, this is the entry for the on-board Oracle 10 database:
    #--  Laptop           Could use:  (HOST = Steve-PC) / 127.0.0.1
    ORCL =          (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)
                                      (HOST = 127.0.0.1)
                                      (PORT = 1521))
      (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER = DEDICATED)
(SERVICE_NAME = orcl)  )  )Note the replacement of the HOST entry from the Windows computer name with the generic IP address for the local platform.

  • How to put source code into procedure ?

let's suppose that we have a source code for store Schema like this schema that you can download it from follow Link :-

and now I want to wrap it ,until get the plb file , and then no one can know the content of the schema source code , and as I know the ( procedure , function and package ) only could wrapped , so I tried to embed the source code in procedure , but the process failed Sad
Is there anyway to embed the source code schema into procedure until wrap the procedure later to get the plb file ?!

don't worry about the wrap operation , I will adjust it ..... but the important here .... how we embed the "schema creation script" after EXECUTE IMMEDIATE like in previous procedure ?

  • DUAL causes internal error ORA-00600

    Hi All,
I am using oracle 10g database agains Forms6i, but in forms pl/sql when ever and where ever I use the DUAL in select statement
    i.e. SELECT sysdate INTO <variable> FROM DUAL;
it always causes oracle internal error ORA-00600 ?
However it the dual statement works fine in SQL Plus console.
Any knows anything about this problem.
Any help will be highly appriciated. Thanking you and Best Regards.

Please go to the first reply above:
Only the newest patch 17 runs against 10g databases without problems.
Either upgrade to Forms 6.0.8 and apply patch 17, or else connect to an Oracle 8 or 9i database.

You need to properly configure your oracle net 8 client. Install net 8 client into oracle home directory of forms6i installed.
configure net8 client by using net 8 easy configuration or by editing tnsnames.ora file in net80\admin directory of oracle home.

  • Oralce 10g/Forms 10g

    Hello All,
We are currently on Oracle 9i database and forms6i client/server. We plan to migrate our application to the web. Our initial plan was to go to AS 9i release 2/forms9i. A new server has been purchased by our company which will have a lot of space and memory (with around 64 CPU's). But now that the 10g is available my question is:
    1. Is 10g really necessary for us if we are not going to use the grid computing capability? I don't see any good reason for us to migrate to 10g other than it is the latest version.
    2. Will 10g AS/forms 10g work with Oracle 9i database?
    Any help is really appreciated.
    Thanks
    -J

    Hi,
Oracle Application Server 10g is not only for customers that want to use the Grid. Its a further development of teh Application Server and Forms also. The Forms version in 10g is similar to Forms9i but provides management enhancements and functional enhancements. Also Oracle Application Server 10g has a CD that only installs Forms and Reports. I would suggest to move to 10g.
Yes, Forms10g is supposed to work with Oracle9i databases.
