  • Forms and Reports - Backward Compatibility

Is it possible to load a .fmb file created using Developer/2000
Form Builder for Windows 95 (V5.0) and then convert it so that
it can be loaded into Forms Developer V 4.5 (16 bit). The same
applies to backward compatibility of different versions of
    Oracle reports.
A number of students in my 4GL Programming class have access to
more recent versions of Oracle products then those installed at
my College, and would like to develop assignments, etc, on both
    platforms.

  • URL Problem Oracle 10g Forms and Reports

    Hello Room,
As this question is related to forms and reports both, I have posted it here. I have a system which needs to be deployed in Local Lan Network and also the same Local Lan user should be able to access the same application via internet. In Addition there are also suppliers, customers who dosen't have oracle installed but will be accessing forms and reports via the url through internet which will be a natted url to our public IP. I have loaded Oracle 11g on windows 7 and all my network clients are on windows 7. I have not loaded forms and reports 10g on server, but only database 11g is installed on server. My problem is listed in points below:-
    1. Do I need to install forms and reports on server to achieve the above scenario ? or the local network installation of forms and reports on all client PC's will do ?
    2. To start OC4J instance, shall i start it only on server through batch file while booting server, or it needs to be started on all client PC's to start work from client end ?
    3. When i run forms from my client PC I get local url http://127.0.0.1/ to reach forms servlet which end up in http://localpc/.... from cookie redirect, whether this needs to be http://server/...... on all client PC's to reach the forms servlet ?
    4. If I have to start url http://server/ instead of http://127.0.0.1/... automatically while running every form to reach forms servlet, how to achieve this ?
    5. There are reports to be run from forms and parameters needs to be passed in reports from forms 10g. So in web.show_document shall i refer to absolute url for local acccess or http://server url as the same user can go to internet to access the data. ?
    6. if I load forms and reports 10g on server, do I need to install forms and reports on client end seperately to gain access in local network ?
    7. My forms and reports folders are located on server which are shared for access.
    8. What will be the scenario in case of suppliers and customers who does not have anything installed on their PC and will access forms and reports through internet ?
I want to minimize my work. Please suggest me how to proceed about accessing forms, passing url from forms to reports in web.show_document, and Internet access url ?
Your help is highly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I have tried to explain you in decent way several times that I am not lazy and there are reasons that I do not want to read pdf, because I have already read that all ! In the future please do not respond to my thread. I am not asking for your personal time. If you do not understand my efforts. Just ignore it. I have read all the white papers of Oracle and give me your email id, I will send you all the code which I have read or downloaded. You should know that the knowledge diminish as the technology change. And that does not mean every user in the forum is stupid and as wise as you are. I repeat to state that I have 15 years of experience in Oracle forms 6i._ including Oracle 7,8,9i. This is the first time I am ever visiting oracle forums since past several years. I was the first person to use oracle 7 in my city where people were not knowing what oracle is. At that time I was knowing that the password for scott is tiger which even the reputed institutes in my city was not knowing. at that time I was also knowing that one of the person from oracle made a mistake in indexing the rowid. I think this should be enough to you for now.

  • Deploy Forms and Reports with Load Balancing

I am trying to determine what we need to install here. I have read OracleAS, Web Cache, Application Server, and
Forms documents and have no answer still.
We are currently run 9iAS with Forms and Reports 6i only.
I did not do any of those installs. We are migrating to
Forms and Reports 10g. I need to setup an OracleAS 10g
Forms and Reports application server with the ability to
do Load Balancing over 2 windows Web servers to handle
4,000+ users. The application database will be on its own
    Windows server.
Do I need to install the Infastructure, BI, and Web cache?
Or just Oracle 10g Application Server option? Or other?
Do I need to install it on both web servers and do
something like clustering? Do I need to install Web
cache? I just took the 10g AS class and basically did not learn anything about deploying Forms and Reports.
Can anyone give me a place to find the things I need to
    install and setup?
    Thanks.
    Kim

I am a DBA and have not done an iAS or AS installation
before but am now required to learn it. We will be using
SSL and no load balancing hardware. We setup for other
customer sites and setting Windows servers in the past.
We have not done load balancing before.
I am just confused with all the 10gAS options there are to
install to just run 10g Forms and Reports and setup
OracleAS 10g with the load balancing features.
So I just need to install OracleAS Forms and Reports
Server if I am just installing Forms and Reports with SSL.
But if for Load Balancing Oracle 10g I need to cluster
    just Reports 10g? I thought I would need OracleAS10g
installed on my two Windows servers and somehow cluster
or let the two know they are the same web page handling
the incoming requests? I do know about Apache redirct. Is
that an Apache feature and is it covered in an Oracle
documentation? They did not cover it in class either.

  • As configuring the services like for example that of Forms and reports in Oracle 9iAs

Como configurar los servicios como por ejemplo el de Forms y reports en Oracle 9iAs para sistema operativo Solaris. Para que los reports y forms sean vistos en la WEB.

Jenny, for Forms and Reports configuration issues, you might try posting to the Oracle9i Forms forum:
    Forms: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jsp?id=345390
    Reports: http://forums.oracle.com/forums/forum.jsp?id=338539
These are actively monitored by product managers from those groups. If your question covers Web services with Forms and Reports, check out the viewlets showing how to make those aspects of Forms and Reports work at:
    http://otn.oracle.com/tech/webservices/sample.html
We are planning on rolling out some new content and how to's specific to Oracle Reports and Web services probably the last week of July. The content is just been written, reviewed and recorded this week based on the examples you see in those viewlets.

  • Advantages of forms 6i, reports 6i, oracle 8i, 9i over previos version

PLease tell me new working features, screen layout changes of forms 6i over forms 4.5, reports 6i over reports 2.5, oracle 8i, 9i over oracel 7.x
    Puneet

    Hello,
I you follow the Note:338513.1 on Metalink, you can see the following:
Forms / Reports 6i patchset 16 or patchset 17 was certified to work against Oracle Server (RDBMS)+
    +10g Rel 1 (10.1.x)+
Forms / Reports 6i has never been certified, nor will it ever be certified against Oracle Server (RDBMS) 10g Rel 2 (10.2.x) or Oracle Server (RDBMS) 11g (11.x).
+(This is because Forms / Reports 6i is now de-supported - see important note below)+
Important Note: Forms / Reports 6i is now de-supported e.g.
    - If running in client-server mode, Forms / Reports 6i was desupported at end of January 2005
    - If deploying over the web, Forms / Reports 6i (Oracle 9iAS Rel 1 Forms / Reports Services) was desupported at the end of June 2004
This means that Forms / Reports development will no longer provide an error correction service for Forms / Reports 6i (unless an organisation has purchased extended maintenance support) Therefore, Oracle strongly recommends that customers using desupported versions upgrade to a supported version e.g upgrade to Oracle Developer Suite 10g Rel 1 or 2 / Oracle Application Server 10g Rel 1 or 2

  • How to have RAC accept Forms and Reports connection to non specific node?

    Hi all,
    I have posted this in the Forms forum w/ no result, hoping someone here can help;
Oracle Forms and Reports services, not the entire app server. Version 10.1.2.0.2, one server
Oracle database, RAC Version 11.1.0.6.0, 3 nodes
    Instance=RMSTEST
    Nodes = RMSTEST1, RMSTEST2, RMSTEST3
I can TNSPING RMSTEST w/o issue
When I have userid in formsweb.cfg = user/pw@RMSTEST we are being prompted when logging into forms and reports to supply the password for the RMSTEST instance, enter the password and we are in.
So we changed this in formsweb.cfg = user/pw@RMSTEST? (?= any of the nodes 1-3) and the password prompt is no longer being requested.
What do I need to do to have Forms and Reports connect to the RMSTEST cluster directly for it to determine which node to connect to instead of having an unbalanced node(s)?

  • Diff between Oracle 9i database and 9ias application server.

Can any one brief in detail the difference between Oracle 9i database and 9ias application server.

    Hi,
Your question is the answer. Oracle9i Database manages all your eBusiness data and Oracle9iAS runs all your eBusiness
applications. In a 3 tier architecture, Oracle9i Database fits in the Database tier where as Oracle9iAS fits in the middle
tier. Oracle9iAS provides an infrastructure to run different types of applications(J2EE thru OC4J, Forms applns, Portal
    based applns, Wireless applns etc..)

  • How to upgade Oracle from 9.2 on SUN to Oracle 10g R2 RAC on Oracle EL4

    Hi all,
I have production database Oracle 9i EE Release 9.2.0.5.0 - 64bit on SunOS 5.9 cca 100GB. I would like to upgrade Oracle 10g Relase2 RAC with 2 nodes on Oracle Enterprise Linux. Database availability is 24x7 and system breakdown must be minimal. Upgrade could be done in several independent steps. What is the best form of upgrade realisation?
    Thx for some idea
    Libor Veverka
    [email protected]

    My 2 cents:
    1. de-RAC 9i on solaris
    2. upgrade to 10g on solaris (why? take advantage of datapump, much faster than exp/imp)
    3. expdp from 10g solaris
    4. create single instance 10g on linux
    5. impdp on linux
Please note there are a number of issues with 9ir2.10gr2 upgrade (check metalink for details).

  • LDAP Error 50 configuring OC4J in 9ias Rel 2

    Hello everybody,
I'm trying to install 9ias Rel 2 on a Windows 200 Server machine.
Unfortunatly after 3 tries i'm continuing receiving the following error during the OC4J configuration step in a Business Intelligence Installation type ( i want to say first that all the Infrastructure installation and configuration was successfully executed and that i stopped the EM before starting the OAS installation to avoid to have conflict with the dcmctl tool):
The configuration files for this Oracle9iAS instance are inconsistent with the
configuration stored in the repository. In order to protect the repository,
no further configuration or deployment operations are allowed until the problem with the configuration on the filesystem is resolved. This condition arises when a prior operation was unsuccessful. Please check the logs located at
ORACLE_HOME/dcm/logs to determine why DCM was unsuccessful in updating
the configuration files on disk. Some possible causes are:
    - permissions on files
    - file contention issues on Windows NT
    - EMD and dcmctl running concurrently
    - internal Oracle error
After resolving the problem that prevented DCM from updating the configuration
files, you may use the dcmctl resyncInstance command to resolve the problem.
Alternatively, you can stop and then restart the active dcmctl or EMD
process and resyncInstance will automatically be performed.

I have had the same problem getting any dates from Oracle as well but after talking to Oracle and bugging them about it here is the response I received:
    Sun Solaris before May 31
MS Windows - Solaris date + 8 weeks
    Red Hat 7.1 - Solaris date + 1 week
    SuSe SLES7 - Solaris date + 1 day

I would like to know whethr 9iAS rel 2 (9.0.2.0.1) can be installed on a P4 m/c running XP Pro.
I have tried the follwoing workaround till now but to no avail,
1)Renaming the symcjit.dll files and then running the installation.
2)Replacing the symcjit.dll file with the new symcjit.dll file and then running the installation.
3)Renaming the symcjit.dll files and setting the -nojit flag in the oraparam.ini file and then running the installation.

Replacing the symcjit.dll file and adding the bin path to the environment variables and then running the installs again.

You can use the "Oracle Net 8 assistant", "Oracle Net 8 Easy config" to see if you have the
appropriate entry to the server in the local tnsnames.ora file (find it!). I mean that one in the
Forms&Reports home, not that one in the Oracle_Home.
Under local I mean the file tnsnames.ora in your application, not at the Oracle Server - this is a
    common mistake.
You have to have there an entry like:
    REKS816.RILA.BG =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = bigbluenew.rila.bg)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = REKS816)
It is a bad practice, but you can add such entry using simple text editor. But before that make a
copy of tnsnames.ora in order to restore it if you do not succeed.
After that go to "control panel" and run "services".
Look at your Oracle_Home_TNSlistener80 process. Stop it! Start it again!
If you work on Unix find the relevant processes and notions of the Unix OS.

actually i have done some config in net 8, only thing i could not remember all the entries but when i am about to test all the entries using the scott/tiger pw it works
showing connection is successful, it was GREAT! for me but in the other side was a frustration while logging into a ORACLE FOR WINDOWS NT and selected SQL PLUS 8.0.6.00
and used the same pw error occurs: unable to
indentify service name and same thing logging directly to Forms and supply pw scott/tiger in the pop-up menu, it says TNS: unable to connect destination. I have put to myself 100% maximum tolerance since im trying this for so long days. Please help me.
if am trying to recall the entry is somewaht like this:
aside from the default entry, i added a service name which is new service name:
    <dan, then i press local machine, TCP/IP
    <hostname = dannyx25cz7hwa <<SID dan and
then it asked for a test message and entered
the pw scott/tiger and it works.
i also tried in the dos box using the 'Entry and Stop" operation and it shows all the entry which i've done. By the way there's no
service name in the control panel of WIN NT 2K, i just surprised!
Finding out the abv, what I have done wrong?
and also, i tried to config again, but when i press the net easy config, it never respond, meaning it never appear in the screen.

  • Forms 6i based application compatibility with Oracle Lite 10g

My client is currently using an Oracle Forms 6i based application (together with a Jinitiator)
in an application deployed to 50 countries using Oracle Lite 9i as the Mobile Application Server and Oracle 8i as the database.
We are considering an update to Oracle 10g database and 10g Rel 3 mobile application server.
Can anyone advise on the impact of such an application on the Forms 6i application and if there is a recommended process for the upgrade of the forms application?

do you mean the OAS 10g Rel. 3 ? That application server has no forms-component. Only the Rel.2
Your Forms 6i is certified against 10g databases with patch 17 and 18. Download them from the metalink.oracle.com
