Oracle 9.2 update jvm's jdk?

Dear All,
is there a way to load the whole 1.4 JDK into Oracle's JVM? (There is now JDK version 1.3, which comes with the basic install.)
Thank you in advance!
Franky

Avi,
DB2, Sybase and all other RDBMS than Oracle use an external JDK that hey load at runtime. This loosely-coupled approach is easy to implement but has many flaws including scalability, data integrity (Db2 has afenced/nofenced optosn to deal with that), and so on.
Oracle on the other hand has taken a tightly-integrated approach (similar to PL/SQL) which is the harder (to implement and upgrade) but robust, secure and scalable.
I will disclose how exactly and when, as soon as 11g is announced -- your guess might be wong or might be right, i can't give further details at this time; stay tuned :-)

  • Update JVM to 1.6.0_24

Installing on windows server 2008 R2.
Have CF 9.01 64 bit and hotfix 1 installed.
In looking at the lockdown guide, it appears I should update the JVM to 1.6.0_24.    I can only find this version with "glass fish" server which I don't think I want.
Is there someplace to download just the JVM install?   I don't do this often and find it really confusing.

    Hello,
You need to download and install Java Dev Kit. Looks like current JDK is 1.6.0_25.  Here is link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk-6u25-download-346242.html
Install JDK via running EXE you downloaded - default install will be fine.
Stop CF - SERVICES.msc stop "ColdFusion 9 Application Server".
Take a copy of CF\runtime\bin\jvm.config - so you got a backup.
Edit CF\runtime\bin\jvm.config find line "java.home=" and comment it out eg:
    #java.home=C:/ColdFusion9/runtime/jre
Add new line like so and save jvm.config:
    java.home=C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_25/jre
Note   there the slashes and the location of the JRE (runtime) - you need to   point to the one in JDK because the other JRE in C:\Program   Files\Java\jre6 will be missing a DLL.
    Start CF via SERVICES.msc.
Note I have only tried CF9.0.1 with 1.6.0_24 myself. Perhaps oracle will have a link there to previous versions or 1.6.0_24.
    HTH, Carl.

  • Lockdown CF10 says update JVM, but admin info still shows old version: how do I sync it?

The lockdown guide for CF10 says to update JVM. After doing that on the machine, the CF administrator information still shows the older CF10 installation version. How do I sync the machine installation with CF10? Do I need a second installation in the ColdFusion10/jre folder?

First, you will need to get ColdFusion pointing back to the original JVM.  Open the jvm.config file found at C:\ColdFusion10\cfusion\bin using a text editor.  Near the top of the file, look for the line that starts with "java.home=".  Change the path to "C:\\ColdFusion10\\jre" (don't use quotation marks around the path).  Save and close the file.  Now try starting ColdFusion.
Second, you can't use the Java JRE that comes in the standard Java consumer download.  You need to download the Java SE Development Kit (JDK), which contains the JRE and some server components that ColdFusion needs.  You can get the JDK here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk7-downloads-1880260.html.  Download and install the appropriate JDK for your operating system.  You should now have both a "jre7" and a "jdk1.7.0_XX" folder inside of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java".  Now follow Peter's suggestion on updating the JVM setting in CF Administrator.

  • Can I upgrade my Oracle 9.2's JVM 1.3 to JVM 1.4

    Hi,
I want to use regular expressions in Oracle 9.2, so I need to create a java stored procudure.
But Oracle 9.2 include only JVM 1.3, which can not support regular expressions, so I want to upgrade JVM 1.3 to JVM 1.4.
    How can I do it?
    Thanks.
    bevinye

    bevinye,
I know of no way to upgrade the database internal JVM -- from 1.3 to 1.4 -- in Oracle 9i (although there is probably some hack that would let you do it).
However, I can suggest two alternatives:
    1. Upgrade to Oracle 10g -- whose internal JVM is compatible with JDK 1.4 and so supports regular expressions.
    2. Load a third-party regular expressions library that is compatible with JDK 1.3, into the Oracle 9i database. Maybe try:
    http://jakarta.apache.org
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Are my kernel panics due to the Java Updater (com.oracle.java.Java-Updater) ?

In the past few months I've been getting more kernel panics than usual. This is on my late 2012 2.3 GHz Intel Core i7 Mac Mini, running OS X Yosemite (OS X 10.2.2) with 16 GB of RAM.
Looking at the console logs following the last panic, I can see that immediately before the crash, com.oracle.java.Java-Updater had been spamming my log. Here's a sample:

From what it looks like, com.oracle.java.Java-Updater had sent around 77,000 message like this before crapping out.
I'm out of ideas — both regarding whether Java is actually responsible, and if so what to do. I need Java for a few programs I run, so deleting it isn't an option, unfortunately.

  • Java doesn't start after updating jvm

    Hi,
I am trying to update jvm from 5.1.045 to 5.1.055 for ntamd64 platform.
Windows x86 64-bit. This is due to prepare for print support with adobe document services.
But it is not possible to start java after this. jstart.exe has status
stopped.Starting instance with management console is not possible.
JSPM applied patch successfully. Also tried manually. No difference.
    I am applying SAPJVM5_55-10004442.SAR for windows x86 64-bit

  • Functions: Oracle VM Manager vs. Grid Control Oracle VM Management Update

    Hello guys,
i have seen both tools .. and i have to say that some really basic functions are missing in the Oracle VM management addon for Grid Control 10.2.0.5 .. just some examples:
    - Renaming virtual machines (because of the prefix syntax is not very useful)
    - Adding ISOs as CD/DVD after removing them one from the profile (until now you need to know the whole path to the DVD, even if the ISO is registered in the repository)
    - Renaming image files (for example the disks of the VMs .. this would be very helpful in case of cloning machines)
    - List the VNC port for the running VMs
All these features are available under the VM Manager (except the renaming file part) ... do you know when this will be implemented or is the Oracle VM management update already "finished" in its functions.
    Regards

    Hi,
You can manage your Oracle VM environment using Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c. Using Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c you can discover Oracle VM Servers, discover storage servers and file systems, create and edit server pools, set up networks and create storage repositories.
for more information, look at this URL.
I hope this can help you
    Best Regards

The actual problem seems to be that you are using the wrong Linux distribution for you Laptop. Enterprise Linux was not designed for consumer grade hardware. To further troubleshoot the problem you will need to check for relevant output of "dmesg", i.e. check if the firmware and driver that was loaded for the device. You should also check "lspci -v" w/o grep to see more detailed information for the device.
Are you trying the latest Oracle Linux 6 update 2?
    What is your hardware?
Beware that no Oracle database products are yet certified for EL6 yet, so you should better stick to Oracle Linux 5 update 7 instead.
If the purpose of your installation is research and development I suggest to install Windows as your primary OS and run Oracle Linux inside Virtualbox. Check the following link: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/community/developer-vm/index.html

  • Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - January 2013

    Hi all,
    11.2.0.3
Oracle Critical Patch Update - January 2013
I am confused about CPU, PSU, SPU, USP. I am reading the docs and it seems they are same thing being rambled?
Which of them is the most important to apply?
    Thanks,
    PetraK

    Thanks gotti and fahd
I already ask the support and he gave me docs to follow. But the more I am confused with lots of added process.
Can you validate if the process is correct? My Goal is just to comply with our IT Sec Auditor to apply the latest patch. The auditor does not even know what is the name of the patch as long as it the current updates. So I think he is referring to PSU or SPU or CPU.
This is the process I got from support:
1 Appy Oracle Database Patch Set Update (11.2.0.3.8)
1.1 Download and install latest RDA and run and send the output.
1.2 Download and install latest OPatch and list the current inventory.
        1.3 Check java version
1.4 Check and Resolve PSU conflict
1.5 Backup the current OracleHome as "root"
1.6 Stop Listener, EM, and all DB Instances
        1.7 Apply PSU
        1.8 Resolve errors if any.
    End.
So It seems I only need to apply PSU? which is 11.2.0.3.8?

If you know about this, plz...inform this.At least if you select "desktop" during installation, then the answer is yes. But you have to run the ibus program, log out then log in to complete the process. You only need to run it once.

  • Oracle Critical Patch Update July 2009 for Oracle BEA Releases

    Hi All,
Researching in metalink about CPU's for WLS 9.1 I found Oracle Support Note #835668.1. Table 9 of this document
lists minimum product requirements for WebLogic server.
According to this table WLS 9.1 should have a minimum version of 9.2MP3.
I am confident that WLS 9.1 and WLS 9.2 are completely different WLS versions and there is no upgrade path from WLS 9.1 to WLS 9.2.
Is this table misprinted or is it required to replace all WLS 9.1 installations with WLS 9.2 installations?
What is this table trying to indicate?
    Please assist.
    It would be very helpful.
    Thanks.

Oracle Critical Patch Update fix a list of bugs , oracle will release CPU in every three months interval.
you need to click the link which oracle has sent.
then choose your database version===then select the patch number===then on metalink download the patch
with patch there is read me file which tell you how to apply the patch on the database.
    Thanks
