Oracle Application Server Install Issue
Gurus,
There were 2 CD/DVDS (media) sent for the Oracle Application Server Install, but the Oracle Universal Installer did not ask for the 2nd CD while doing the Install, is this normal or I am not sure I missed any steps while installing the 1st CD/DVD.
I was waiting that it would ask for the IInd CD/DVD, But it never? but the Install looked clean and exited clean without any error.
Please advice.
Thanks
SheikThe 2nd disk is Companion CD. It contains the install files for other components.
For instance, If you want to install Oracle HTTP Server only, then you use the companion CD to do so. It has many other individual installations.

Installation of Oracle 10g Application Server in custom port or 1522
I want to install Oracle 10g Application Server in Port 1522 or some other port as in port 1521 Oracle 10g database server is already installed.
But every time I try to install Oracle 10g Application Server it give the warning about 1521 port and then start installing on same 1521 port automatically.
What should I do if I want to install in some other port ?
Please help
ThanxAs a method, to install an OAS on a custom port,
1) make a file called staticports.ini and define your components/ports there.
2) on the Specify Port Configuration Options screen, select Manual and specify this file.
Follow this link for details for 10g.
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/win.1012/install.1012/install/reqs.htm#CHDJACIG
However, there are ways to use the same port for OAS and DB depending upon the version of your listener. Check the version of your DB Listener, and if it is 10.1.0.2 or higher then you are just good to go with automatic port assignments.

Oracle 9i Application Server+Oracle 8i EE+ Forms on the web Very urgent
Hi,
I have correctly install Oracle 9i Application Server and Oracle 8i Entreprise Edition on Windows 2000. What are the following steps to follow in order to run a form on the web. example: test.fmx?
Thanks in advance.
nullIf your web server is working and the forms server is running type:
http://ip addr:port/dev60html/runform.htm
You need to put the ip address or name of your server in and the port number apache is running on (leave blank if this is 80).
This gives you the Oracle Forms start screen.

Deploying Oracle Retail Applications in Oracle 10g Application Server
Hi All..
Can anyone help me to know:
How to Deploy Oracle Retail Applications(like RMS,ReIM,RIB) in Oracle 10g Application Server.
Regards.Hi Ahmed,
It sounds you have not yet had the chance to lay eyes on the installation guides - they are not perfect but should point you in the right direction.
Please start at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/documentation/oracle-retail-100266.html and check out the install guide per application module.

Deploying Forms with Forms6i/Oracle Internet Application Server 8i - need help!
Hi Gurus!
I am trying to setup the Oracle Internet Application Server 8i (Release 1.0)and deploy the forms to the web. The server is on Solaris. I have installed and configured the application server. I used the 'runform.htm'and 'test.fmx' to test the installation of the application server on the Server machine. In that case it works fine and shows the message 'Application Server is up and running'. Where as if I tried to access the same 'runform.htm'and 'test.fmx' from another client machines through a web browser it is not executing the 'test.fmx' and throws the following error:
" FRM-92060:Failed to connect to the Server. Bad machine specification:'hostname':9001"
Details...
oracle.forms.engine.RunformException:FRM-92060: Failed to connect to the Server.
I am using the default port#9001 to run the Forms server (i tried using another port and i got the same error). The web server is listnening on the port 7777.
I am not sure what needs to be fixed. Can someone please through some light on this?
Thanks!
nullThe Oracle 8i jvm component (formerly known as JSERVER) was designed to support server side java.
This component was initially developed and included in the Oracle 8i rdbms 8.1.5.
Enhancements continued to be implemented with the 8.1.6 and 8.1.7 releases
IAS uses the same oracle 8i JVM from the rdbms to support java code on the middle tier.
Here's how the IAS version and the RDBMS version match up on the Oracle 8i jvm's features.
RDBMS 8.1.6 with IAS 1.0.0 (unix) / 1.0.1(NT)
RDBMS 8.1.7 with IAS 1.0.2 (new name IAS 9i)
8.1.6 / IAS 1.0.0 / IAS 1.0.1 supports :
session EJB's(1.0 spec), corba objects and java stored procedures
8.1.7 / IAS 1.0.2 (aka IAS 9i) supports :
The 8.1.7 implementation will support the 8.1.6 features listed above plus the ejb 1.1 spec (entity ejb's -- see below), servlets and java server pages.
note : in another thread Mr. Devin clarified the current status of the EJB 1.1 spec (entity beans)in the 8.1.7 solaris release and the future win nt release.
If I remember correctly, Mr. Devin reported a last minute issue has delayed the support for the entity bean feature but ejb spec 1.0 / 1.1 session beans are in place.
When the entity bean issue is resolved, a software patch needed to support the entity bean feature will be provided in a rdbms patch.

Basically, your machine will need a "fully qualified hostname" e.g. myhostname.mydomain.com, only myhostname is not enough.
Also, AS does not allow the IP to change after install e.g. no DHCP (dynamically allocated IP) allowed!

evaluated.
slcpu : times error, unable to get CPU time.
Pl help me. How should i proceed.
Thanks.
RajIf you are installing into Windows 2000, one workaround recommendation by Oracle for this problem is:
Install the latest Windows* 2000 Service Pack patch: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/downloads/
Create a temporary directory on your Intel Pentium® 4 processor server (e.g. \TEMP).
Copy the contents of the Oracle* Server CD to the temporary directory created in step 2.
Search the directory structure created in step 2 for the existence of the filename SYMCJIT.DLL.
Rename each copy of the SYMCJIT.DLL to SYMCJIT.OLD.
Run the SETUP.EXE from the \TEMP\install\win32 directory and install Oracle 8.1.x.
If you have any other questions on this work around, please contact Oracle. -

Oracle 10g Database Server or Oracle 10g Application Server
Greetings and Salutations!
I need to install APEX 3.01 for development purposes and I'm wondering if I need to do an Oracle 10g Database Server installation, an Oracle 10g Application Server installation, and then the APEX 3.01 installation, or is there another way such as an Oracle 10g Application Server installation and then the APEX 3.01 installation.
I'm confused and I need advice.
Thanks,
CharlesApex software runs inside the database using the database's PL/SQL engine.
Apex software is accessed via HTTP requests that may be sent to an HTTP server as included on the database 'companion CD' or in the Application Server.
Apex installation is described in the APEX install manual at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/index.html -
Oracle 10g application server installation and configuration
Dear All,
i am going to install oracle 10g application server including forms & report services.
what is the latest version for oracle 10g application server so that i download and install the correct one.
please put URL to download the software .
Thanks & regards,
Sher khanhi,
for forms and reports purpose you can download standalone oracle forms and reports (version 10.1.2.0.2) component.
If you want to upgrade it you can upgrade it to 10.1.2.3.0.
find url for the same :
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/101202-095224.html
i'll recommend you to use oracle fusion middleware 11g forms, reports, portal and discoverer component.

Oracle 9iAS Application Server Rel 2
Just installed Oracle 9i Application Server and Infrastructure. Tried testing a very small Forms-based application with just a welcome screen and a database login screen. Did nothing after. Here is a snapshot of a situation running out of hand with respect to the system resources and how the resources are being swallowed by 9i services. CPU utilization is at 100% all the time. The following data is from the Windows Task Manager output.
Image Name PID CPU CPU Time Mem Usage Page Faults I/O Reads I/O Writes
opmn.exe 1000 48 7:28:27 5,460K 6,717 39 253,367,324
opmn.exe 2544 45 8:20:30 7,136K 12,390 39 198,559,189
vsmon.exe 1844 02 0:09:06 5,916K 48,729 9,797,444 112
Why are these programs racing out of hand. Why are the I/O Reads and Write so high? These values are rapidly increasing even as I am writing this message.Sanjay,
Thank you for your input. Will try your suggestion and see if I can get service stability with just the options you mentioned. In my case, I had to stretch to a complete install because I wanted to use the Forms and Reports services. These are now under the ...ProcessManager.. service in Windows 2000. Unfortunately we don't see separate services for Forms and Reports anymore in Rel 2. I still don't understand why we should go thru a Infrastructure install if I don't need them for Forms and Reports. It is all cooked very odd this time in Rel 2.
I didn't have to manually set up tnsnames and listener configurations. I am not sure why it happened to you with a basic install.
Not having a complete picture of the install process is a big mystery. Least of all, we have some idea of the Windows services in Appendix D of the Install Guide. Check the following link.
http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/doc_library/90200win_otn/install.902/install/toc.htm
Thanks once again.
