Oracle 91 client under linux ppc

hello,
i´m searching for the oracle client for linux on ppc(pseries 630/670/690)
the cd-set for intel linux is, for sure, not running. there you couldn´t even start the runInstaller.
so which cd set i have to download. that are always more than 1gb to download. and so trying take much time.
thanks in advance.

no, there should be an fileset, because Joel Pérez told me to download one. but not which ;-)

  • Oracle 8 client for Linux

I really need to find the Oracle 8 client for Linux. It isn't available anywhere on Oracle's site. Is there an alternate way to get it? I need a modern PHP to be able to connect with an Oracle 7 database. It is not currently an option to upgrade the Oracle database, as much as I would love to do so.

8.0.4 for linux does not exists nor you need it to connect to a 8 database.
Just install the 9i client (available at OTN) and recompile your cgi's.

  • Is there an Oracle VPN client for Linux (64-bit) ?

Does anyone know if there is an Oracle VPN client for Linux (64-bit) ?
    Where to get it ?
    How to install it ?
    thanks!

Perhaps OpenVPN will work for you. Unfortunately you did not provide any OS information and VPN requirements.
You can find help to install and setup OpenVPN in Google. You might want to check the Fedora EPEL repository http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL to install the software using standard yum in Enterprise Linux.

  • Oracle 9i client for linux & PHP

I'm looking to connect PHP on my linux server to a remote oracle server running 9i. I have been unsuccessful in finding good documentation on this process, as most people are either using windows or connecting to a local server.
As far as I can tell, you must install the oracle client for linux, then recompile PHP with oracle support. So:
    1) Is this the best method to do this, and if so where can I get an oracle client for linux?
    2) Is there a location where I can get the oracle extension for PHP without having to recompile PHP?

I believe the extensions are refered to in the php.ini
    and need to be setup.
    ;Windows Extensions
;Note that MySQL and ODBC support is now built in, so no dll is needed for it.
    extension=php_oracle.dll
;Don't know if this is needed and whether there is a
    ;php_oci9.dll
    ;extension=php_oci8.dll
which can be found by this:
    extension_dir = "C:\WINDOWS"
I am trying to perform a similar task, well, sort of. I am running Oracle 9i (9.2.0.1.0) on a Win2003Server machine and do not want to build PHP either.
Please let me know if you find your answer.
    Thanks

  • Oracle 9i Installation under Linux

I am trying to Install Oracle 9.0.1 under Linux.
During the Installation Process it has given some
    error as follows..
ERROR in invoking target install of makefile
    /home/oracle/OraHome1/plsql/lib/ins_plsql.mk
and also for sqlplus and ldap etc, etc.
I ignored those and after 100% completion
its going into a window and saying Configuring NetAssistant and its going into a loop somewhere because its not coming out from that loop even after several hours.
    Can you suggest something.
    Thanks and Regards.

  • Is it always necessary to patch Oracle when installing under Linux?

I did a search first and, yes, I checked http://www.puschitz.com/.
Everything I have seen to this point suggests Oracle cannot be installed without patching it first, even if it certified for that platform.
    Please advise.

Anser is NO, the oracle 8.0.5 can be installed on redhat 5.2 without any patch, the oracle10g can be installed on redhat EL3 without any patch too. Those version of oracle with those version of Redhat linux are standard couple. Though something need a little skill to fix such as the ora8.0.5 precompile need some fix on redhat 5.2. Ora8i and Ora9i having too much bugs, after the patch, the bug will be bigger than before. However the Ora10g is good, the only problem is user SYSTEM seems having control right problem, but we can using user SYS replace SYSTEM user.
Does any one have other idea?

  • Failed to install php-oci8 with instant Client for linux 64

    Hello,
I have a 64-bits Linux box with RHEL4, and PHP version has been upgraded from 4.3.9 to 5.1.6. I try to make the connection to remote oracle server.
I download instantclient-basic-linuxppc-10.2.0.2-20060327.zip , and follow the instruction to
    install it.
But when i try to install php-oci8*.rpm, no matter which i use:
    php-oci8-5.1.6-1.el5.i386.rpm or php-oci8-4.3.9-2.2.el4.i386.rpm
The installation always failed due to dependencies errors with oracle instant client.
I also tried with some other packages like: php-oci8-4.3.9-3.el4.x86_64.rpm
All my tries gave me dependency errors.
    sometime like:
    error: Failed dependencies:
    libclntsh.so.10.1 is needed by php-oci8-5.1.6-1.el5.i386
    oracle-instantclient = 10.2.0.3 is needed by
php-oci8-5.1.6-1.el5.i386And I cannt find the right RPM for oracle instant client for linux 64 bits box, and php-oci8 5.1.6 64 bits.
I have been trying on this problem for more than one week, and so frustrated. I will appreciate if I can be guide on this issue.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Oracle 8 Client

    Hi,
Where can I download an Oracle 8 client for linux? I'm trying to
access an oracle 8 database from a linux computer. Do I have to
let any other oracle product install it instead or I can find it
    by itself?
    Thanks,
    Manuel.

If you have a copy of Oracle 8 on Linux, then you will find this
product there. This software is no longer available on OTN as a
    download.

  • Oracle 8.1.5 Client on Linux

My organization is beta-testing coldfusion on Linux. Our current
(NT) Coldfusion set up talks with a Linux server running Oracle.
Thus, I need to have the new linux box talk (via Net8) to the
    database.
Despite the utter lack of documentation on this on Oracle's part,
(and I am not a DBA), a search here revealed that the client
could be installed as part of the Server install. So I dl'ed the
latest Oracle server for Linux (8.1.5), got the JRE installed,
and told it to install Oracle 8i Client. It did so without
complaint. (on my third try or so :) ) However, there was no
Net8 configuration. [This occurs with either Typical or Custom
installs]. The documentation points to a (AFAIK) non-existant
Net8 Admin guide for linux. Netec and netasst simply return me
to the command line. The sample SQLNET.ORA file is
    half-uncommented, and in dense oracle-speak.
So what do I have to do to convince this box to talk to my other
box? Just edit sqlnet.ora? Do something in lsnrctl? What
fields of sqlnet.ora are required? What's with the funky
commenting scheme? Is Oracle providing more support for this
that I am not aware of?
    Thanks in advance!

First question/comment: Check the listener on the box where the
database lives. Is it up and accepting requests?
Second: On the client, in ORACLE_HOME/network/admin, make sure
you have a tnsnames.ora file that has the information on the
database(s) you want to connect to. If you already have some
clients on NT or Windows 95/98, you can copy their sqlnet.ora
and tnsnames.ora files to the new client. They typically live
    in either ORAWIN95\network\admin, ORAWIN95\net80\admin,
    ORANT\network\admin, or ORANT\net80\admin.
There are three pieces to Oracle's sqlnet/net8. The client
which has files tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora that tell the client
application where the Oracle database is located and how to
connect. In other words where the listener is and what port it
    is listening on.
The tns layer that manages all the protocols. For the most part
we don't need to be concerned with this layer.
The server side which includes the listener. The listener is a
process that listens on a specific port for connection requests
    to the database(s) it has responsibility for. Could be one;
could be many. If the listener is not up, no client is going to
be able to connect to the database except those clients that are
on the same box as the database.
    Hope some of this helps.
