  • Oracle 10g express - post installation

    Hi All !
I installed Oracle 10g exp. on my linux system (fedora core 4) yesterday. I am very new to both the linux os and oracle db. So I'm sure I messed up somewhere, though I can't figure out where....if anyone could help me....here is the problem
installation was successful...I configured Oracle db with default http port:8080, listener: 1521 and the password.
after installation I don't see oracle icons on my redhat menu. I tried opening in the browser with this
http://(hostname):8080/htmldb and it does not bring up anything. I may be doing something wrong in looking up the hostname...here is the listener.log file....I'd appreciate if any1 could tell me what is wrong.
    Thank you,
    -----------------------------listener.log-----------------------------
    System parameter file is /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/network/admin/listener.ora
    Log messages written to /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/network/log/listener.log
    Trace information written to /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/network/trace/listener.trc
    Trace level is currently 0
    Started with pid=10287
    Error listening on: (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=pcp0010100038pcs.levtwn01.pa.comcast.net)(PORT=1521)))
TNS-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
    TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00515: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
Linux Error: 99: Cannot assign requested address

I encountered this issue on my laptop and realized it was because I installed Oracle XE when connected via DHCP. I never manually specified a hostname so my install was burned with crazy DHCP hostnames which of course change every time I get onto my work network. So to fix it, I did the following:
    1. Hard set a hostname (Fedora Core 6 /etc/sysconfig/network + hostname command)
    2. Updated tnslistener.ora and tnsnames.ora to use the new hostname
    3. force-reload
All good. JDBC connects, "service oracle-xe status" is good and the home page is back.

  • Oracle 8.1.6 Installation - Help-me!!!!!!

I'm trying to install Oracle 8.1.6 from CD on Conectiva Linux but when I run ./runInstaller a blank window is displayed and nothing happens.
I'm using linux kernel 2.2.16. During installation, some processes still running, consuming CPU, but nothing is wrote to disk.
I already download JRE 1.1.8 from ibm/java, altered oraparam.ini to point JRE_LOCATION to /usr/java/jre118 (that is the location where I unzip downloaded JRE) and nothing happens.
    What's wrong?

    Hi!
You don't need to install another Java Runtime Version - it comes with Oracle 8.1.6 and you only should use this one with Oracle.
Did you set the Oracle installation acount group ID to "oinstall"?
Be shure to set the $ORACLE_BASE and the $ORACLE_HOME in your local .profile or .bashrc before starting the installation.

  • Vtiger from aur - post installation help

I would like to try out vtiger crm.  There's a package for it in the AUR.  I installed it using the trusty packer.
There were a few caveats.  I had to manually install libjpeg, since its dependency name is different than its actual install name:
    packer -S libjpeg-turbo
    packer -S vtigercrm
I then started mysql and apache
    cd /etc/rc.d
    ./mysqld start
    ./httpd start
I tried navigating to the site served up by apache but neither the index nor the install php files come up properly.  It just shows the source of those files.  I assume there are some other steps that much be done, but I am not sure what.  I have looked through the documentation on vtiger's site for installation on Linux, but can't seem to figure out what needs to come next
Last edited by senorsmile (2012-01-05 01:24:36)

I got it set up. Here is my best summary of each roadblock I ran into and how I got around it:
Starting with the problem you're having - my /etc/httpd/conf/extra/httpd-vtigercrm.conf looks like this:
    AllowOverride All
    AddHandler cgi-script .cgi .pl
    Options ExecCGI Includes FollowSymlinks
    Order Allow,Deny
    Allow from All
I stole these lines from the corresponding conf file for sql-ledger which I hacked together a few weeks ago. I don't know what these lines do, I'm still learning what the hell I'm doing
That opened up the dialogue when I pointed my browser at the proper address. After that I had some trouble with the fields there - here's a screenshot and some explanation of what worked:
    http://forums.vtiger.com/vtiger/demo/wi … -Step5.JPG
I ended up using localhost:port like this example because that, of course, was where mysql was for me. Pretty self-explanatory, but I was using the hostname of the server for awhile and it wasn't working, so hey. I got a little confused with the redundancy of the sql username fields on the left - if you check the Create Database field, it opens up a seemingly-redundant set of fields. Anyway, using the root username and password for mysql in both sets of fields worked for me. The User Configuration on the right is for logging into vtiger for the first time once it's set up.*
After that, I thought I was on a roll.. .then I got the following error:
You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'Type=InnoDB' at line 7Error: Tables partially created. Table creation failed.
I found out that this has to do with the fact that vtiger isn't compatible with the latest versions of mysql or php. Specifically, it uses a depreciated command to create the databases. I was able to fix it with some manual editing:
First I edited /etc/mysql/my.cnf and followed the commented instructions to enable InnoDB databases.
Not-exactly-following the instructions at http://mayoorathen.blogspot.com/2011/04 … ation.html, I edited schema/DatabaseSchema.xml and replaced all instances of Type with ENGINE. If you have vim, it's easy. Navigate to the schema directory and:
    vim DatabaseSchema.xml
Then type : to get a command prompt-ey thing, and enter
    %s/\<Type\>/ENGINE/g
Save with :w and quit with :q. Gotta hit enter after each. Probably preaching to the choir here, but I thought I'd be thorough.
I also did the same operation to 503_to_504rc.php under modules/Migration/DBChanges/ - just open it in vim and use the same command. I figured this would be a good idea in case I ever needed to, uh, migrate things. Or something...
After that it installed without a hitch. I'll post if it turns out I broke anything. If you see anything in blatantly poor practice, please enlighten me!
*I probably didn't have to do this, but I'm including it as a possible last-resort: before this step was completed I ended up accessing mysql in an ssh session and manually creating the database, then granting permission to any user from my other machine to mess with it. If you don't know your way around that stuff already, this is what walked me through it: http://www.cyberciti.biz/tips/how-do-i- … erver.html

  • Post installation help

    Hi,
I have tried to install Solaris 10 on AMD XP processor
I did not have any problems with installation. The Boot CD recognizes the hardware and installation was successful. Offers me " Reboot now" button.
After reboot, blue scree appears to choose the boot partition (I have Windows XP on other partition).
I choose Solaris and another blue screen appears and the message shows "Booting ...." but never comes up with another message. Waited for long , no result .
    Any idea ?
    thanks & regards
    Kiran

Mine wasn't a blue screen after rebooting into Solaris after successfully installing it.
Well, you could get a blue screen if you interrupt the booting process and get to the hardware configuration process. Regardless, it wouldn't halt.
Did you install the x86boot partition for Solaris? I assume you must have, because you wouldn't see the options for booting (blue screen) without installing x86boot.
It also might be incompatibility issue. Did you configure graphics card and the display correctly?
It might also be the case with BIOS issue with some computers. I'm not sure about this, but you might check it out and see if it's compatible with Solaris. Some Dell Computers have old BIOS that isn't compatitble with Solaris (from what I heard of other people).
    hope it help.

  • Windows 7, Oracle 11g Client Post-Installation Error

    Hello all--
    Background Info:
    - I have installed Oracle 11g Client (32-bit) on my Windows 7 Professional (32-bit) workstation.
    - The ORACLE_HOME directory (in my case C:\Oracle\Ora11g) is in the PATH environment variable.
    - I have created TNS_ADMIN as an environment variable that points to a network folder that contains our tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora.
    - I can tnsping our servers and sqlplus connects without issue.
    - I am logged in as a regular network user (added into the local Administrators group on my machine).
The problem is that I cannot connect using a user or system DSN in the Microsoft ODBC Administrator, BUT, I can connect with a DSN when I am logged in with the local Administrator account. I have verified the DSNs are setup correctly. The error I get is the ORA-12154 error.
Here is the exact error as it appears:
    Unable to connect
    SQLState=08004
[Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
If I copy the tnsnames.ora file from the network to my machine and remove/redirect TNS_ADMIN to the %ORACLE_HOME%\NETWORK\ADMIN folder, it works with my user account.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!
    Matt

    Hi All--
I figured out what the problem was and I wanted to share what our solution was.
Basically, when you open the Microsoft ODBC Administrator in Windows 7, it has to run with elevated privileges and loads the Administrator profile. Our tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora files are on a network share that we map to a drive letter for all users across our organization. The Administrator profile does not have this drive mapping. So I created the TNS_ADMIN environment variable with the full UNC path and I was able to test DSNs successfully.

    Matt

  • Beehive post-Installation problem

Hi, I'm istalling Oracle Beehive 2.1.0.0 in a Oracle Linux 5.
First I installed Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production, then guided by I installed Oracle Beehive, I followed the post-installation procedures http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16671_01/bh.200/e16641/what_you_need_to_know.htm#BIJGGFJH, in the first step (Oracle Beehive Database Post-Installation Procedures - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16671_01/bh.200/e16641/db_post.htm#BHAJIEID) I make correctly (at least) the first two steps, in the third one no error show but if I check configuration with the “list_bootstrap_configuration” command what I see is that the desired password is in the schema name field.
After this, I can only use some of the commands, for example with activate_configuration or list_ports I receive:

Even if I try to clear the data given in previous steps with “clear_proposed_configuration” command I received the error.
I checked and there are 6 patches, but it seems none of them fix the problem, althought I couldn’t find from where to download. Also In the contents of the installation of Beehive, one point (out of the installation against database) it’s about installing Oracle Beekeaper, maybe that will help, but as far as I know it’s only a UI for Beehive.
(http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16671_01/bh.200/e16649/beectl.htm#list_bootstrap_configuration here is the documentation about beectl)
Maybe the problem is that I'm installing in a 64 bits and documentation of Beehive says that only 32 bits is supported, but I needed to try because our client machine is a 64bit Linux .. any other suggestion?

for Instant Messaging, I believe you need to review Chapter 25 (Configuring XMPP) of the Installation Guide.
At least you need to do a
beectl modify_property --component _XmppService name DomainNames value <domain>
    beectl activate_configuration
    beectl restart --component BEEAPP_<instance>.<host>
For any user partaking in IM, you need to define an IM Address, as this is needed to provision the user to the XMPP Service.
If you master your user in an external directory, you can map existing mail addresses to also be used as IM Address, e.g.
    <directory_attribute_map_entry>
    <source_object>ENTERPRISE_USER</source_object>
    <AttributeMap>
    <Field>
    <source_attribute>mail</source_attribute>
    <target_attribute>BUSINESS</target_attribute>
    <target_extended_attribute>IM</target_extended_attribute>
    <target_attribute_type>ADDRESS</target_attribute_type>
    </Field>

    emsap008:50100\rep\start\index.asp ).
Let me explain the problem which i faced.
In the transaction SXMB_IFR --> Tool --> Import Design Objects Option, the result displaied is " There is no Objects found ". But as per the document i need to get               " PI7_0_BASIS_6.40_18_00.tpz ".
Please clarify my doubt, ask me if my question is insuffecient.

just check also have you done this step ?
This step is not covered by the PI template.
You need these files The files SCM4003_00.ZIP and SCMBASIS4003_00.ZIP

Another thing are the j2ee adapters and the adapter engine visible in the ID just check once. If not then go through these.
1)Yeap you need the basis component imported first.
    2) Apply SAP Note 764176.
