Oracle 9i database installation from download files

i downloaded oracle9i database from the otn web site. i am running windows 2k pro with service pack 2. there are three files. the instructions on the otn web site say to extract each file into it's own directory and then run setup.exe.
when i try to run setup.exe, i get an error that says the installer cannot find the java run time environment.
i have installed the newest version of java, but still get the same error.
do i need to have these directories in a certain directory?
someone please enlighten me. where am i going wrong?
thanks in advance for your assistance.

if you want to have iSQL*Plus available you have to have
the Apache Web server started and you can access so:
http://localhost:port/isqlplus
to check what is the port that Apache is using you
can find that information in:
<ORACLE_HOME>/apache/apache/conf/httpd.conf
When you installed the software, if IIS was shutdown
Apache surely took the port 80 and perhaps for that is
the cause so that one of them is started the another one
has to be shutdown.

  • X11 installation from downloaded file

How do I install the download of X11 to work Gimp? I downloaded X11-0.46.4.tar and double clicked on that. It then opened another folder called X11-0.46.4 and when I go into that I am lost as to where to find the right folder to open. And if I need an application if there is no default application to install, what do I use?

I would suggest buying either the original replacement OS discs or a set of Tiger OS X discs so that you have an alternative booting system besides the internal disc in the event that your primary file system gets corrupted and unbootable and needs to be repaired via Disc Utility, which is on the OS disc.
Alternately, get a large enough external hard drive and make a bootable copy of the entire internal hard drive, then you can boot from the external should anything go wrong with the primary internal drive. Booting from the external drive would allow you to perform repairs on the internal drive.
Depends on how important your computer and data is, hard drives don't last forever and will fail at some point, and probably not at the most convenient time. An external hard drive now is cheaper than data recovery services will be later.

That's great, I think more folks should start using "GIMP" as a verb for performing digital image manipulation, instead of that other common Photo-software. Good luck with the project.

  • Oracle 10g database installation in red hat 5

what are the packages needed for oracle 10g database installation in red hat 5?
what do you mean by yum way of installation?

Check on the release notes for your platform
This is for x86-64 Linux.. read it all, then you'll find the "6 Documentation Corrections and Additions" section you'll find the RPMs that you need
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/relnotes.102/b15666/toc.htm
then go to the official doc installation of 10gR2 on x86-64 Linux
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15667/toc.htm
Yum is a package management tool. This is what you'll be using to install the RPMs. But first you'll have to setup the Yum repository, usually what I do is stage the DVD media on the server then make it as a repository. If ever there's a specific (higher) version that I need then I just pull it on the RedHat Network.
There are a lot of HOWTOs about Yum. You may read on this link http://docs.fedoraproject.org/yum/en/

Hey ErikSimon, I kept troubleshooting my problem last night and when I loaded my samples an alternate way, actually the longer way, it worked. I think I have gremlins in the system or something, but I got it working again. I was having the issue when I tried loading the samples via these instructions that were mentioned in SFLogicninja's Youtube video @ 3:07
    http://www.youtube.com/user/SFLogicNinja#p/u/8/7YjgKLZ2jpY
They are good instructions, but the Logic gods weren't smiling on me last night. Really weird and frustrating at the same time. Thanks anyways.

I only have a 2mbs internet connection. TED talks from ipadair2 do not play on appletv2 from downloaded files but they do play from streaming? This only started recently, maybe after an update, it did work both ways before. the same happens with my iphone5s!

The songs somehow became corrupted when they transferred to new computer from old computer. Thankfully, I had another computer with iTunes and transferred them via firewire.

  • How do you remove previous Oracle Database installations from your registry

    HI,
I am trying to reinstall Oracle 9i and Oracle 9i developer on windows XP home and i have used the OUI to uninstall both programs. I tried re-installing the database and Oracle universal Installer gave me a message indicating i have 2 previous databases. Besides taking a different Oracle Home and removing the Oracle folder on the hard disk, how can i remove the Oracle Entries in the registry so that the computer is free of Oracle?
    Thanks

if u reinstall oracle and before that u have to delete the oracle related previous installation information from your registry.for that go to registry and open
    1)hkey_local_machine-software-in that delete oracle folder
2)hkey_local_machine-system-controlset001-in that delete the old database service information, listener info._lo
3)hkey_local_machine-system-controlset002-in that also delete the old database service, listener information.

  • Oracle for Windows Server 2003 - Download file

    Hi,
I download Oracle9i Database Release 2 Enterprise/Standard/Personal/Client Edition for Windows Server 2003 (32-bit) from OTN(file 9203WIN2K3.zip), but it doesn't have any setup file on the extracted files.
I think that file 9203WIN2K3.zip is not complete or is not the appropriate one.
Can anybody please help me ?
    Thanks !

I am actuallt trying to do the same. What I fond out at one time, was that installing 9i on Windows 2003 is a multiple step process. First, you install the reqular three CD (or DISKS if you download the installation) and then you install the patches. I think what you have downloaded is only the patch. Read the README that comes with the zip file. I am looking for the document that described installing 9i on 2003. If I find id, I will pass it on.

  • Installation from download

Intending to install Oracle 9i on Linux Redhat from files I have downloaded.
Do I need to write the downloaded "disk" files to CDs? Otherwise how do 1 swap "disks" if I install using just downloaded files?
    JD

You can just unzip the files onto your system if you don't want to or can't burn cds. You should end up with separate directories such as Disk1, Disk2, and Disk3. When the installer finishes with Disk1, it will prompt you for the path for Disk2. All you need to do is enter the path and the installer continues.

  • Oracle 10g Database 64 bit setup file

    Hi Friends,
I want 10g oracle database 64 bit or any Oracle 10g database setup file which is compatible with windows 7 64 bit.
I have searched in torrents and Google every where for this. I dont have Oracle support a/c to order CD.
Please help by sharing the setup file for this.
I need this for installing obiee 11g in my laptop which have win 7 4gb ram.
I tried installing Database 11g and obiee 11.1.1.5g simple install still 4GB RAM seems not sufficient.
    TIA

The only 10gR2 version certified with Win 7 (Pro or higher, Home version is not supported) is 10.2.0.5 - http://docs.oracle.com/cd/B19306_01/relnotes.102/b15680/toc.htm#BABEBBJF
10.2.0.5 is only available on My Oracle Support, which you do not have access to, so you will need to install 11gR2 that is available at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downloads/index.html

  • Will not download from download file.

After downloading to download file the file will not open or open folder.

Please explain the situation! What steps where performed? Did you encounter any error messages? How about trying a clean reinstall?
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox and any leftover program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps one by one:
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu) and confirm all upcoming messages.
#Now, uninstall Firefox by following the steps mentioned in the [[Uninstall Firefox from your computer#w_uninstall-firefox|Uninstall Firefox]] article.
'''IMPORTANT:''' On Windows, the uninstaller has the option to remove your personal data and settings. Make sure that you do '''not''' check this option; otherwise all of your bookmarks, passwords, extensions, user customizations and other Firefox [[Profiles|user profile data]] will be removed from your computer.
After uninstalling Firefox on Windows, delete the "Mozilla Firefox" program folder, located by default in one of these locations:
    * '''(On 32-bit Windows)''' ''C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox''
    * '''(On 64-bit Windows)''' ''C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox''
#Go to the Windows Start menu and click on "Computer".
#In the Explorer window that opens, double click Local Disk (C:) to open the C:\ drive.
#Find the "Program Files (x86)" folder or "Program Files" folder.
#* On 32-bit Windows, double-click the '''Program Files''' folder to open it.
#* On 64-bit Windows, you will see a "Program Files (x86)" folder AND a "Program Files" folder. Open the '''Program Files (x86)''' folder.
#Look for a '''Mozilla Firefox''' folder. If you find one, right-click it and select ''Delete'' and confirm that you want to move the folder to the Recycle Bin.
Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
#Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
#Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
